It is what it is! Not to bad actually...maybe only on hot days ...but it serves its purpose and the staff is really cool.

We just made the switch from extra space storage, who was charging us 2 1/2 times what this place does for the same size unit, and it wasn't as awkward space as the last one. We called him reserved the unit the day before with Adam over the phone. When we got to the office, he kindly greeted us and provided exceptional service while getting us into our new unit. He was very informative and helpful. And added plus, which could have just been a coincidence for the day, was that they had a U-Haul truck available for us to rent too quickly get the stuff out of our old unit instead of having to make multiple trips. We all know finding and renting a U-Haul truck can be a pain in the you-know-what. Recently, I needed a day rental of a van to pick up a rather large dinner table. I noticed two here at the Grove Mini Storage. Reserving and picking up was fairly straight forward through the U-Haul website. The van was only 20 dollars a day plus 79 cents per mile. I showed up at the reservation time and had to wait a few minutes for the attendant at the mini-storage office, however. Turns out he has fixed lunch time. Anyway, after dent inspection and a peek inside I digitally signed the forms and was on my way. I have to say, my only criticism was the cleanliness of the van; I mean I was not expecting new car smell but there was a large amount of pet hair (I assume) inside the van. It was not a deal breaker. I recommend you mark off all the dents etc. during your walk around when you pick up just in case. Overall, I was happy for the easy process in both finding a van to rent, and, going through the process of pick up, drop off, and paying here at Grove Mini Storage. read more

Karen is the sweetest! I love her. She's always so nice and funny. She helped us quickly. Got us the best price. She even brought in a light in our unit the day we were moving in because it was pretty dark in there. She explained everything thoroughly. Once we moved our stuff in, i don't know why we assumed they have the locks, dumb of us, then again this is our first storage ever! So we left it open the entire day until the next. We got there the next day and Karen let us know that we left it open, as soon as we left the day before she went to go check and noticed it was open so she locked it for us. And we went immediately to buy a lock. Put it on. She was so sweet. The only downfall is this place is only open from like 9-6. And we can't get in the unit after that. You also always have to go in the office and sign a check in & out paper. Not sure what that's for. But i guess safety. That way she knows who goes in & out. I have been with Grove Way Mini Storage since2010. Karen Shue has been my go-to person there since the beginning. She always has her "happy face" on when helping me, a new client or a random person wanting a place to sleep for the night. (I know! Weird but true.)She is so kind while trying to explain that Grove Way is a Rental Facility to put your THINGS not PEOPLE. If she is not in when I call with a question, I just call back later because the answer always sounds better when it comes from Karen. I also use another facility in town (rhymes with Mublic) (I have a lot of STUFF!) I wish that everything was with Grove Way. I always feel in the way when I get a key to unlock their carts. Not the best way to keep clients. It will be a sad/happy day when I get to Tennessee. I will have my stuff but I won't get to say"hi" to Karen when I visit my space. read more

I called, knocked and left messages and no calls were returned. The van was sitting front too. I had to contact Uhaul and pick up at a different location. Very poor customer service. Do not recommend this business. They are unpredictable and do not have any interest in customer service. Made a reservation one week prior to pickup for a uhaul van rental from Grove Way Mini Storage. Arrived at 0900 for arranged pickup time. Nobody there. Fifteen minute wait and called the number several times. Finally got an answer and girl said she is making bank deposits and will be there between 10 and 1015. Went home, came back at 11 and still not open. Attitude of worker was I don't give a s***. I tried to rent a U-Haul truck from this location today and was given completely unacceptable service. They had an issue with their online systems and was not able to assign the truck to me. Stephan, Area Manager, was not there and refused to help. Jilberto Marcano, who is in charge of the Storage part tried hard to help me. He was great! I had people waiting at my house to help with the move and they had to wait for over 2 hours. I ended up canceling the reservation and going to another U-Haul location that was completely professional! Stephan's customer service was completely unacceptable. read more

They have no consideration! We found a bigger storage somewhere else after we signed up with them and tried to cancel the contract. They refused to refund. Come on, money hungry people, the contract was just signed less than 24 hours . Charge a cancellation fee but not keep the whole month rent. You will loose a lot of customers if you don't have a heart. read more

This place has no scruples. One week ago, I dropped in to their office investigate a new locker rental. I was advised by the girl at the desk that I did not have to pay at that time; I could pay when I moved in. I was told the unit would be held for me until the following weekend. Acting on that assurance, I rented a truck and arranged for moving help, because it was a large (10x20) unit. Imagine my surprise when I received a phone call during the week, telling me that the unit had been given to someone else. To say the least, I was furious. The young man who called was apologetic, telling me that his boss made that decision, and that he was tasked with giving me the news. I unloaded on him, knowing that I would not be able to address this BS way of doing business with his boss. I later apologized to him for lighting him up, but asked him to tell his boss that I wanted to have a chat with the spineless SOB. That call hasn't happened as of today. During my conversation, I discovered that this is not a little "mom and pop" operation. I was told they have over 100 such facilities. If you want to spend your money locally, this is not the place. I refuse to do business with people who operate like that. They are run by faceless cowards who are hiding behind the people stuck with defending them. I will not shed a tear when that place is finally closed permanently. They are just wrong people. My sympathies to the employees who are stuck defending these cowards... read more

Grove Way Storage is horrible! Why? 1. Rain water leaked into my unit...THROUGH THE WALLS and most of my things had mold beyond belief! 2. The owner is not paying a dime and claims that I should have the insurance for that...however, if the manager could read his own policy, he would note that the coverage excludes flooding and mold as a result of the construction defect. 3. The owner won't pay a mere $2800 to compensate me, which is strange since I'm a litigation attorney who looks forward to suing the #&%! out of him, So, in sum, what ever you do, take your valuables elsewhere... somewhere safe! read more

I've been renting from Grove Way Storage for a few years. Only reason I've stay with them is because of the manager, Karen. If she wasn't running the place I would have 2nd thoughts. i have 3 large storage units for my business. She keeps things clean, friendly, & she is very helpful. Its very well maintained & the security camera are well placed to observe the property. Only thing i wish was that the owners would have better ventilation on the 2nd floor. During the summer the heat upstairs is stifling. I should know. I was stationed in the Mojave desert & this is worst. I highly recommend this storage facility. Pricing is reasonable. I used their U-Haul services, which were very customer-friendly. I had made a reservation with a different moving van rental company that was just a couple of blocks from where I was...only to be called Friday afternoon (for a Saturday morning pick-up) that they now wanted me to drive into Oakland (a good 20 miles away) to pick up the truck. Since I was having to pay for mileage, that was no acceptable. I called Grove Way Mini Storage early on a Saturday to see if they might have a truck available. Even though it was before the opening hours (which I was not able to find online). the phone was answered and arrangements were made for the rental van. The transaction went smoothly. My only quibble is minor: the moving van was not given to me with a full tank of gas, but the contract noted it was 7/16 full. So long as it was returned with the same amount of gas, there would be no extra charge....but guessing how much gas you use in an unfamiliar vehicle loaded to the gills with furniture, etc., was difficult. It would have been easier to just fill up the tank had it been provided to me full. read more

I've been storing my valuables at Grove Way Mini Storage for 5+ years; The building is elderly but well appointed (lots of wood & a variety of spaces to rent); there was a recent change in ownership and I got nervous cause everything had been moving along and I must say that the current management under Karen Shue is a vast improvement! I needed to upgrade to a more commodious space and the staff walked all over the facility caringly showing me what they had. They are a genuinely friendly group and I love my space.
