The facial I received was amazing and incredibly relaxing; however, the condition of facility itself was rather shocking. It was not up to par with what you'd expect out from a Ritz Carlton hotel but rather something I'd expect out of an old Best Western if they had a spa. Most of the spa felt very outdated and cheap. The bathroom was practically falling apart with hooks falling off the wall and clogged sinks. The robe you're provided was in poor condition (old and pilling fabric) and even the relaxation room felt like an afterthought, despite the beautiful view. read more

This was the worst spa experience I've ever had and I've been to so many in my time! The facilities are pretty bare bones for a spa at a five-star resort. Pedicures are just done in regular chairs that are awkward and uncomfortable. The Zen room is just more plain chairs. Nothing else there that makes it Zen other than music. Their locker rooms are incredibly small. There wasn't even room to change if more than one person was changing. They weren't very clean and not well maintained. The staff was incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. Barely anyone there even acknowledged us or was polite for the short time we were there. We paid for a luxury pedicure. This service was supposed to be an hour and be filled with various treatments. Instead, we got a technician that rolled her eyes, ignored us, and glared at us. Instead of the hour we were promised, we got 22 minutes, with part of that being her preparing the utensils. When we went to the desk to inquire about what happened, nobody knew what was going on. The manager didn't come out for 15 minutes while she "spoke to the technician". The technician then came out while we were waiting to find out what was going on and glared at us for 10 minutes and then yelled at her co-worker in front of us. This was the most awkward and uncomfortable situation we've ever experienced. It was so uncomfortable we canceled our second service we had that day. We were supposed to spend the rest of the day relaxing at the pool and the beach at the hotel, but instead we couldn't wait to get out of there. The manager had no explanation as to what was going on other than the technician was being "difficult". They then acted like comping our terrible 20-minute experience was somehow enough to make up for what we went through. They apologize for not having another technician available to finish the service. To be honest though, there's nothing they could have done to get us to stay and do another service or finish the one we had already started. I would recommend you go literally anywhere else for your spa services, especially for the prices they try to charge here. Upon leaving the facility, we saw multiple security guards and police officers coming to the spa. So not sure what exactly happened there, but this was serious. For the record, they give you a discount for writing a positive review. The manager said it at the desk to the person in front of me when I was checking in. She then required to see the review itself in order to provide the discount. So I wouldn't really trust these comments too much saying how wonderful the experience was. I saw another reviewer call this a Best Western spa if they had one and I couldn't agree more. Not at all the level of service and amenities you'd expect at the Ritz Carlton. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE BY THE MANAGER!!!!!! I received an email confirming a scheduled massage appointment at the spa, which I had not booked. Since people often do nice things for me, I didn't initially find it unusual, but I still wanted to verify the details and ensure the email wasn't spam. When I called the spa, an employee (Robert) verified my name and the appointment and told me, "Yes, you are booked tomorrow at 9 AM, and the notes say to charge the appointment to [X] credit card." Since I hadn't scheduled the appointment myself, I asked them to look into it further and get back to me. After some time without a response, I called again for more details. I was assured that they would leave me a voicemail with an update before the end of the day, as the appointment was scheduled for the following morning. However, by the time I finished my work shift at 6:30 PM, I still hadn't received any communication. Before heading into work, I had even requested that they leave a voicemail with an update, and I was assured that they would. When I finished my shift and still hadn't heard back, I called the spa again. I spoke with McKenzie, who was very nice and in actuality the one who had the initiative to solve the problem. I suggested that the employee contact the person who had booked the massage to confirm whether it was actually intended for me. I stayed on the phone the entire time while the employee attempted to reach the client, verifying that no one had previously contacted them. Eventually, while I was still on the line, the client returned the call, and we discovered that their guest had the same name as me. Because I already had a profile from a previous visit, the appointment had mistakenly been added under my name. This entire process required multiple calls and unnecessary back-and-forth, all of which I had to handle myself. Had I not investigated, I could have unknowingly arrived for the appointment, been charged for a service on someone else's credit card, and occupied a time slot that wasn't intended for me. Understandably frustrated, I requested to speak with a manager. I was told the manager was unavailable but would return my call the next day. Since it was a Saturday, I allowed extra time and waited until Monday. However, I still heard nothing. Due to a busy work schedule on Tuesday, I finally followed up on Wednesday and spoke with the manager, Katie. Unfortunately, Katie was dismissive, unreceptive, and unprofessional in how she handled the situation. She simply apologized for "human error" and seemed confused as to why I was still frustrated. Rather than taking the opportunity to acknowledge the inconvenience, rectify the situation, and ensure I remained a satisfied client, she became defensive and argumentative. Having managed a spa for three years, I know that if a mistake like this had occurred under my leadership, I would have taken appropriate steps to make it right. Offering a resolution--whether through an apology with a goodwill gesture or simply showing genuine concern--is fundamental to good customer service, especially for a spa associated with The Ritz-Carlton, where a high standard of service is expected. I am extremely disappointed in how this was handled and insulted by the lack of professionalism and customer care I received. read more

Very disappointed with the cleanliness, physical grounds of the spa - broken chipped lockers, dirty floors and bathrooms - not at all what you would expect from the Ritz Carlton. The class schedules are completely inconsistent. Classes seem to change at the manager's discretion -- for example, yoga sessions are suddenly removed and replaced with Pilates Sculpt without notice. Additionally, many of the instructors are inexperienced and provide a poor-quality experience. read more

Extremely disappointed about my recent experience at the Exhale spa at the Ritz. Where do I start: 1) I called 2 months in advance to reserve multiple spa appointments for my 5 girlfriends coming into town to celebrate a babymoon. We had confirmations of our appointments. When we showed up the day of our appointments, to our horror, the spa had no record of our reservations. When we told them "Barbie" was the person we booked them through, the ladies at the front desk looked at each other and said to themselves- "oh- that's why"- inferring that Barbie must have had a poor reputation of booking appointments. We were devastated as we looked forward to these appointments for months now. 2) While the spa was able to accommodate most of our bookings, it failed to disclose that one of the massages was a back to back booking. Thus, my 60 minute massage was actually only 45 minutes and this was NOT disclosed to me at the time I accepted the service. I had only found out it was going to be cut short because my masseuse had a piece of paper in my massage room that outlined her schedule for the day. As I looked at it, there was going to be NO way I would be done in time for her next scheduled massage. When I asked my masseuse if there would there be time for my full 60 minute massage, she assured me that there would be time and so we proceeded. Of course: she ended my massage at the 45 minute mark (I had checked my watch immediately before and after). I did bring this to the attention of my masseuse, annoyed because I didn't get the full 60 minutes as agreed upon. Upon checking out of the spa, Kara, the lady working the front desk asked how my massage was, to which I replied "Great, but I only got a 45 minute massage". Kara then proceeded to unprofessionally argue with me about how sometimes some people will get a shorter massage and this was normal. For $180 dollars for 60 minutes, this is NOT normal. I am paying $180 for a 60 minute massage, so cutting 15 minutes of my massage time is significant given that I was not made aware of this before. Kara refused to make any sort of discount for this mishap & suggested I take this out of my masseuse's tip, which she said was a mandatory 20%. I asked where was a sign or any written agreement stating that a 20% tip is mandatory at the spa. She could not produce anything that said a 20% was mandatory. She kept suggesting that I take this out of the masseuses tip. When I said, "OK, I tip 0%", she said "you cannot tip 0%, I cannot ALLOW you" to tip 0%. I again, asked her to show me where it says the spa doesn't allow a zero percent tip. She couldn't produce anything in writing. I am completely appalled that: 1) the manager suggest I reduce a masseuses tip for an error the spa appointing service made; 2) the manager stated that a 20% tip was mandatory and demanded such and 3) no consessions were made due to my 60 minute massage being only 45 minutes. Not to mention, the utter disorganization that resulted in the spa forgetting to schedule our massages in the first place, even after a confirmation. When I asked Kara to speak to a manager, she responded "I am the manager". She then continued to escalate the situation to the point where I was extremely uncomfortable arguing with her about in front of others. This spa experience was supposed to relaxing and pleasant. We had looked forward to it for months. This was by far the most UNpleasant and stressful spa checkout experience of my life. I ended up tipping my masseuse 10% because I knew it was unfair that the manager of this spa suggest that I eliminate the masseuse's entire tip because my massage time was cut short. For the record, I spent $660 for the experience that day and $180 of it was my 60 min massage that was unexplainably cut short to 45 minutes. It was an extremely disappointing spa experience all around- especially for the Ritz. I left feeling very stressed and upset. Would not recommend. read more

Exhale Bal Harbour is located on the ground level of The Ritz Carlton, Bal Harbour. I have been there a few times for their HIIT fitness classes and always have had great experiences with all staff there. I went today and had Jackie as my instructor and she by far was one of my favorites. The class is 30 minutes but it felt longer because she really presses you to your limits. Her class began with a light warm up, 5 stations, followed by cool down. All exercises she taught were really amazing too! I recommend getting to the spa 30 minutes prior to your class and asking for a gym key card for the hotel, and you can do a workout in there prior to the class to maximize your workout time. After my class, I then went to the pool to relax and swim there. It was such a relaxing spa/fitness day and I highly recommend Exhale! read more

This. Place. Is. Gorgeous. Has the worst parking situation if you're trying to not valet at the Ritz Carlton where it is located. I got a warning flyer from the complex where I parked with the 20 open parking spaces for a few hours during the morning on a weekday. But once you get that figured out and walk down the stairs in the hotel to the Exhale entrance, you get 1. that aromatic, relaxing spa smell, 2. a pleasant hello from the front reception, 3. a boutique next to the nail salon if you want to buy any of the stuff they use or clothing. I've gone there for fitness classes, and the studio they have them in is huge with top to bottom windows with tons of sunshine and showcasing the harbor view. They have yoga, HIIT, cardio and barre classes, all of which are wonderful. If you do go to work out, bring your shower stuff and a change of clothes and make sure to use the sauna or steam room and showers! Afterwards, you have access to their zen area, with pristine white couches, citrus infused water and incredible views of the water. I never need a dedicated spa treatment here because hanging out in the zen area is more than relaxing! Such a nice break from the grimy gyms and my depressing bathroom! read more

Visited the spa this week with three of my girlfriends looking to get three massages. The receptionist at the front desk couldn't have been any less welcoming, no smile, no welcome.. very cold. I wish that would have been the end of it.. This spa should NOT be in a Ritz Carlton hotel, perhaps a holiday inn or a great western..but not at a five star hotel. First, its facilities are decrepit and old... the floors smell of mildew, the showers are disgusting, the toilets are old and dirty...and the locker room is small, dark and old. No towels, the robes they gave us had stains, and the slippers were packaged in supermarket like plastic bags. The steam room was scary and smelled awful! We found our way to the waiting area after walking through dark corridors, were random hotel guests were just wandering by. The waiting area leather sofa's were so old they showed black cracks, the tea dispenser was something you would see in a gas station, no nuts..no fruit..the worst part was an old man was receiving a pedicure in the waiting area, no music..just him and the pedicurist talking. It was just so much we could take, I walked back into the locker room, changed, and left. Honestly.. what an embarrassment. read more

What a let down on Mother's Day! I have been a member of Exhale at this location for many years. Today I thought for Mother's day, my daughter and ai would spend the day, doing a class, having lunch and getting massages. Well, the class was great! We then go out to the pool for lunch. The waiter came to take our order, asked for our room number and then told us we couldn't order food there since its only for the hotel guests. He suggested we go upstairs to the hotel's main restaurant. We went upstairs and the restaurant was only serving Mother's Day brunch for $175 a person. So basically, we couldn't eat anything unless we wanted to pay $350. At this point, we're starving and pissed. I spoke to the hotel front desk manager and she said there was nothing she could do. Do not join this club! No one cares about the spa members anymore. Only the hotel guests! read more

It blows my mind that the Ritz Carlton allows their spa to be run by exhale and as poorly as it is run. To start the spa is beyond run down, couches in the lounge are disgusting and all the material is peeling off of them, showers are gross, etc. For the prices they charge it should be way nicer, also the checkout process each time is about 15 minutes and if there are 1 or 2 people in front of you, you'll stand there for 20 minutes. Lastly no service is relaxing because the spa is on the 1st floor facing one of the busiest inlets in Florida so the entire time during the service all you hear is jet ski's jumping waves and boats flying in and out. read more

Best experience! They pamper you to death here! I took a Yoga ClassPass here. This exceeded my expectations. The Classroom had the best ocean view. Snacks, tea in the other lounge room. The ladies at the front desk are amazing. Kara is so welcoming. They always try to help you. This is not their fault but you have to pay parking each time you go there. On weekends it's impossible to find parking. You have to pay $15 each day if you use their valet. I pay a monthly membership and I love the classes but the parking situation is horrible. read more

We have been members for 2 years and this place has been progressively getting worse and worse until we finally had it and stopped our membership. The sauna in the men's locker didn't work for almost one year. Now the steam room is broken. They only have one shower in operating condition. 90% of the lockers are broken. They changed the towel service to these tiny ones that look like they for a child. The locker rooms are filthy and smell like mold. They don't have an attendant so there are used towels and robes all over the floor. Finally my wife and I went today for a scheduled 4:45 one hour couples massage, arrived well on time and they tell me that our massages are going to be cut short because the masseuses have another massage at 5:30 i complained and said that's not my problem. The manager lied to my face accusing us of being late. Well if we are scheduled for a one hour massage at 4:45 which I have the confirmation on my phone to prove it, then how can you have someone else scheduled at 5:30? Who is the LIAR????? This place for belong in Bal Harbour and the Ritz Carlton should not be affiliated with it. Horrible. Don't waste your time and money. read more

The staff at Exhale Bal Harbour refused to honor a git certificate for a spa service that I had purchased online in response to email from the spa offering discounted prices on spa services during the holiday Season. I had been a member of the spa for several years so this was quite disappointing. At check out I asked to speak to the manager Chelsea Durrant, but was told the manager was busy on the phone. Since that time I have left three messages for Chelsea but she has yet to call me back. My credit card has since been charged for the full amount. Ok, so I wanted to get the eyelash lift and I received a $200.00 giftcard for Ritz-Carlton and decided to use the gift card to get the service. So I paid with the gift card and only the tip was supposed to be charged to the card on file. Anyways the full amount was charged to the card on file. Today I called and the lady told me that for some reason they refunded the gift card, and asked me if I had the giftcard Number. The experience that I had today at Exhale Bal Harbour was one of the best experiences I've ever had! I loved the warm welcome from the staff, the delicious scents & the cleanliness of the spa. I came in using a gift certificate for a facial & a massage... lovely birthday gift! Ana Maria did a wonderful Flow Massage with the perfect amount of pressure (I don't like too deep) and loved her recommendation to keep up with my Yoga practice! Afterwards, I had a much needed Facial with Celcilia... she was so informative & friendly! Afterwards, I sipped a detox tea in the relaxation area & drove home so very relaxed & feeling brand new! Stayed at Ritz and was hoping for a level of excellence that would match the hotel. The massage was the first and the absolute worst thing we did in Miami. The service was horrible and the massage my husband got was the worst he has ever had. We were forced to leave 20% tip even though my husband had a terrible experience. His masseuse was not wearing a mask the whole time and did not give him a deep tissue even though we had booked him for a deep tissue. The worst part was that we had booked a 90-minute appointment, not a 60-minute one, so it was rather a long-time suffer. Upon checking out, the front desk did not hand the machine or the receipt back to me, but just said "20% tip, right?"!
