SPA REVIEW ONLY: Let me start with what worked here. First the valet staff is friendly, welcoming, and professional so we had high expectations for the place. The other highlight was our massage experience, Eddy, my technician was extremely professional and talented, the best massage I have ever had, so thank you, Eddy! Lastly, the person who scheduled our services over email, Karla Gutierrez, who was very professional and capable. What did not work: Upon checking in, the lady at the counter (in the spa) was unable to provide a breakdown of charges and had a hard time establishing eye contact. Maybe assumptions were made, which is the only explanation I could come up with based on her behavior. Ultimately I gave up and asked for a receipt. My questions were simple, I paid in advance (a deposit) how is it applied? Do they take off the difference? Or do they reimburse and charge again? She was unable to answer. I have her name in my receipt, but I chose to omit it as anyone can have a bad day. My guest and I proceeded to compare facilities with other well known spas: Lapis at the Fontainebleau and Tierra Santa at Faena- which charge similar rates. Let me tell you, the Standard is very subpar in 1) hospitality and 2) Vibe and decor. The standard's decor is art deco and while I understand the look, the place just seemed old. There is only one station for hair drying/makeup in the locker room, the water in my shower was cold, although my guest's was fine. The Hammam stone was use for towel storage as you will see in picture. No guest is shown in the image and I decided to take the picture because I could not believe it and for this review. There was constant walking in and out of the Hammam (by the staff) to replenish, you guessed it, towels, which made the experience far from relaxing. For the price I was expecting much more. We ended up leaving early without using all the services, but we did walk to the sauna, which seemed nice, but it was super full, and the ice room, which was underwhelming. We will not return, hopefully they can give this place a make over and the staff some training. read more

We decided to schedule our appointment for 8am since a benefit of buying a spa service is that you get access to the hotel pool, so we wanted to take advantage of the day! The massage was incredible, the masseuse used hot stones and really worked into my problem areas (shoulders and neck)! There are also cold and hot baths, a sauna, steam room and ice room in the spa that you can use before or after your spa service. I 10/10 recommend the standard for your next spa appointment. The steam room and ice room are both fantastic and I felt so great after. My advice is to book early to make the most of your experience. I love the Standard in Miami and visit as often as I can! It's very dog friendly and I love being able to spend time by the pool with my pup (which is a huge reason I always come back and stay here, other than the staff!). I usually book a room with an outdoor bathtub and honestly, I don't think I could do without now. The landscaping is always impeccable and the tropical plants are insanely beautiful. The food at Lido is also great. On my most recent visit, I had the pleasure of meeting several employees who made a big impact during my stay. First, great check-in experience with Paul. Then I had a really amazing detox cleanse massage with Keahi and another amazing deep tissue massage with Meggie. We had several meals at the Lido restaurant where we met Christy who has incredible energy and was overall so lovely. I also want to shout out the housekeepers, Gustavo the bellman and everyone at the valet. The staff really makes this place magical and I can't wait for my next visit. read more

This review pertains to the booking process and not the actual spa experience. I would say the actual spa experience was very good. They delivered very satisfactory and friendly service. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and accommodating. The massagists were also nice and skilled. I felt relaxed (fell asleep), and cared for. The different amenities at the spa are also diverse. The hot and cold rooms as well as lounges offered satisfactory experience and a superb view of the city as well. We spent around a couple hours and had a good time, alternating between different rooms and showers. However, the booking process was a bit of a hassle. There were four of us for the bachelorette party, and the online booking process was a bit complicated so I could not select the service for all of us. I ended up talking to someone on the phone, who was helpful. Note: There is a minimum booking fee in order to use all the amenities at the spa. But the problem was, the day before we flew out to Miami, at 10 pm (!) we received an email from the Spa saying the service has to be cancelled because the technicians won't be there for "unexpected circumstances." I was a little baffled at how last minute was, and I was not sure if I could plan other things in such a short notice. We ended up booking a different service (more expensive!) that was available at the time of the day. It did leave a little sour taste in my mouth though, because the original service had to be cancelled very last minute by them and they did not offer any incentives or help to make up for it. I would say expect fun and nice day here, if you could jump through the hoops of setting up appointment with them. read more

I encountered some challenges, and my card was charged numerous times while trying to book an appointment due to communication issues with the spa coordinators. Throughout 20 years of living in Miami, I had never been to The Standard Spa until this year. Well--actually, last year an Uber Driver stopped by the Hotel to show me what this place looked like before dropping me off at home, that was awesome. I came to a Free Workshop that took place at the Standard earlier this year and it included a Spa pass. So after the workshop, my coworker and I went to the 3rd floor, signed our names, and got the robes with flip flops. The Spa is pretty amazing. The staff members are always replenishing the Hamam and locker room areas with fresh towels. Ice cold water is also provided in the Hamam room that includes the steam room, sauna, mud bath room, and more. I have been coming to The Standard a few times now because of the Workshop that I've been taking, and the views at the back are always breathtaking. For the Spa, usually you have to go to the 3rd floor first to sign your name, get the robes and flip flops first. Dunia, Dana, Sheila, and BK have helped me before and they are so nice and sweet. (Tip: If you are nice to people in general and everywhere, most of the time they will be nice back to you too.) After you get checked in, you can roam anywhere you want. They always have services like manicures, massages, mud baths, and more. The prices are provided in a booklet at the desk. The jacuzzi is one of my favorites about this place. It's outdoors at the back on the first floor by the pool. I love the waterfall at the jacuzzi. The water reeks of chlorine, but the temperature and pressure from the waterfall are great. The pool is pretty cool--as in it's mostly shallow that mimics shores at the beach. There are some "chairs" that you can literally just sit at the shore of the pool. The fireplace is beautiful and peaceful. I also love the hammocks and swinging chairs. One star off because sometimes, customers that go here don't clean after themselves and leave their towels/robes scattered. In addition, the Spa is still sort of under construction in some areas like the showers. But other than that, The Standard Spa is definitely worth trying out and pampering yourself at. read more

There is no better oasis in Miami. As a local, this is one of the very few spots in Miami Beach that I genuinely enjoy being in. It's the right balance of relaxation and fun vibes. The rooms are very cozy, the spa services come highly recommended (the facial by Marcia is my wife's go-to), and the pool area is the best in the city to me. The Standard Spa is my happy place. I come here when I need a pure day of relaxation, detox, and de-stress. I prefer week days as it's less crowded at the pool and it's $75 for the day pass which grants access to the spa amenities. Sometimes if I'm feeling extra and wanna treat myself, I'll get a service such as a body scrub which includes the amenities. The pool is 18+ so you don't have to worry about screaming little kids running and jumping around. They're also not against topless tanning which is another plus for us ladies. The happy hour is splendid, order a frose with the ceviche mixto tostones appetizer and you're set! This place is magic. I've seen wild dolphins swimming in the bay right while lounging in my chair sun bathing in front of the water! The servers are wonderfully attendant. The pressure from the waterfall hot tub helps alleviate any back pains you may have. You must try the artic cold tub! Jump in the cold tub then bounce back up into the hot. It's good for you, trust me. The coolest thing that makes this my favorite spa is the music in the pool... yes they play music underwater. The pool is a short walk to the spa amenities so you can easily move between both. They've got an aromatic steam room, a sauna, warm marbled humam (plenty of people do yoga here), deep bath tubs, and lots of showers. I never thought I would be writing this review as I have been going to The Standard Miami for YEARS every year on birthday (this past weekend) to celebrate. It's historically been my happy place. This year was quite different. I'm writing this review because I think customer service is the most important quality in a business and my experience this past weekend was just so disappointing and I don't want anyone else to experience it. I made a spa facial appointment for Saturday afternoon (my birthday) a week or two before we were set to visit, but as we got closer to the end of last week, I developed a small eye infection. After consulting with my doctor, I decided to reschedule the appt just to be on the safe side. I wasn't able to change my appt online, so I gave the spa a call around noon on Friday. No answer. Rang off the hook. I continued to call 2-3 times every hour or so, thinking they must just be busy and I would catch them at some point. I even called the front desk who then put me on a 10 min hold where no one ever picked back up the phone. The spa has a policy where you must cancel by 6pm the night prior or else be billed 100% of the price of service ($180 in this case) - so I began to get worried I wouldn't get a hold of them in time. I was right. I continued to be shocked at the fact that no one would answer the phone when finally I sent them an email, asking for someone to reach out so I could reschedule or cancel my appointment. Without even responding to the email, they "checked me out" of my service and charged my credit card the full amount. I emailed again asking them to waive the fee and give me a call so we could iron this out, no response. Finally, I emailed the hotel email in hopes of getting in touch with a manager or someone who could at least SPEAK with me about this matter. Nothing. So, I'm resorting to Yelp to warn others to go elsewhere for their spa needs. This makes me so sad to write. As I mentioned this place used to be my happy place and this was a big dark mark not only on that experience as well as my birthday. read more

Not worth the price !! I paid $400 for one night , check in was at 4pm I placed the do not disturb sign on the door for the morning they banged on my door by 10am yelling house keeping. Iam pregnant and was trying to sleep in , check out says it's for 1pm. I am super annoyed at the disturbing knocking the house keeper just did. Enough to have to write this review! Also , I ordered food from the restaurant last night and it was not that great. The spa is closed and I did a treatment it felt like it was not worth the price either for it being in a regular hotel room , untill the spa get renovated. No need to post the laundry list of things that went wrong, but don't let the photos fool you that this is a cool and luxurious spa. There were many unprofessional things that happened and we will be going back to the Bamford Spa at 1 Hotel from now on. Side note: If you are not staying at The Standard then I suggest taking an Uber. We arrived to the hotel, where it is "valet only" (only residential parking with permits anywhere in site) but the valet was full and they sent us away unapologetically. We asked how often this happens and the valet told us "every weekend" (and we came during off season). The 10 minute walk in the rain from Sunset Harbour was not a relaxing way to start our spa day. read more

I didn't drink a $130 bottle of Moet and they sent me a pic of an unopened bottle of MOET with some of the foil damaged on the seal and charged me for it. This is the fifth time I've come to the Standard and it is fabulous each and every time. The pool is my favorite in the country. So beautiful and relaxed!!! It never feels too crowded, and the adults only atmosphere is ideal. The spa is wonderful as well. The treatments are pricey, but worth it. I mean that's ok because it's only 60 mins instead of the more prolong massage, 90 mins. However, overall, the massage did not relieve any tension in my body. I have the body of a grandma with all the ailments and all. So, I do a lot of treatment and massages. My booking here was the least satisfying. It's interesting how bad my experience was after the place was talked up so much by my local friends. Interesting because the place is gorgeous, the products they use on your body are amazing, the check in staff is very knowledgeable and also helpful at check in... And then it all came to a grinding halt. The hammam was filled with people on their phones, which distracts from relaxation time. The masseuse Brian, who was helping me "relax" was stiff and literally acted like at times he didn't want to touch me. I was curious about that idea in general because my friend who was in the space literally had the massage and scrub of a lifetime. I also found the staffs dealing with my complaints atrocious, telling me that I have to "tell my masseuse what to do" defeats the purpose of a $420 2.5hour escape from reality. Jackie used her skill and elevated the massage to an artistic level. A friend had Claudia for a Standard massage and also agreed it was excellent. My tip if you're going for the first time: show up at least 1.5 hours early to enjoy the aroma steam room, sauna, sound shower, a good long soak in the huge tubs and then the hammam, BEFORE your massage. Afterwards, lunch in the amazing waterside café, and then a leisurely afternoon in the pool. You're in for an AMAZING experience. I did not find the facility aged, dirty, or smelly at all. The decor is minimalist, perhaps bordering on industrial chic, but still warm and inviting, with dim rose-colored lighting and soft soothing music. The hotel is actually a super cheap looking motel (haven't seen inside of rooms). Nice facilities outside but some things are just off. Jacuzzi has a big waterfall. Nice to look at from afar. But you can't sit there because you face a wall of spray-in-your-face waterfall whereas the view is actually behind you. Infinity pool isn't really infinity. But amazing looking people. This is my first visit, to any spa really. I recently read a book called The Cathedral of Flesh, which makes me curious to try a hamam. So when a friend told me about an event there that includes a free day pass I jumped at the offer. The day pass alone is $40 for weekday and almost double for weekends, but if you check their calendar they do have events quite often, that includes free use of the baths, so it may be a good deal if some classes are of interest to you. The place is a bit hard to find. The first time I drove by without realizing it's a hotel. Also, the road go around in a loop, across the main road. Finally I notice that on the outside of the building it says Lido Hotel. A different name but I figure that's it. The lettering and name, the building facade, and the elevator all hints at an earlier era. However the place did a good job of renovation and most things look sleek and modern. Though I am a first timer it was pretty easy going around. As I told my husband, it's kind of like ordering fish, you can have it steamed, baked or pan seared. Or rather, all of the above. At the entrance is the hamam, where you can lie down on the heated marble. It's very comfortable, I feel like I could just lie there forever. To the right is the steam room, and sauna on the left. There are also rooms with showers, or message/scrub tables. Near the entrance there are also four SS bath tubs. My friend took her own stuff along for a bubble bath, and it seems like there is staff to clean it after each use. Overall, things look clean, and staff is friendly. I also love how they leave generous stacks of towel everywhere and provide drinking water. Outdoors, there is a pool with music under water. Kinda cool. Do try their fountain with the cascading waterfall. It's like have three big guys giving your massage at the same time, pounding your shoulder and back in a very nice way. Gosh it's so RELAXING!! Near the pool they have some hammocks and hanging rattan chairs, where you can hang out with your friends. While I enjoy the baths, I do not like the set up. You go up to 3rd floor to register, get the key, take the elevator down to 2nd floor to change and put away your things. Back to 3rd floor to the spa, and when done down to 2nd floor to change. And don't forget to go back up to return your key and get back your id! Totally awful set up. Can't they at least drill through the floor and install a spiral staircase so we don't have to take that old dingy elevator? About parking - if you opt not to valet, the lot is resident only after 7pm, but you can park there during the day. Not sure how strict they are and how diligent about towing away any offenders. read more

I will be honest in stating that this spa is somewhat disorganized in the way it works out. You pay in advance, which is unlike most hotel spas, and they give you a robe, but no flip flops and the locker rooms and bathrooms are on a different floor. This was a little bit awkward to get used to. They have this haram area and a bunch of amenities that are cool but maybe a little bit too "cool" for my taste. On a busy weekend the haram could appear to be like a big orgy of people in a hot room, with people coming in and out saying different peoples names.. But be careful you don't lose your robe.. These cost $150 if not returned to the front desk. Since you do pay in advance, and since the masseuse comes to find you by reciting your name, you wonder if the front desk or management even know if you were serviced? This became my concern because my massage started 30 minutes after my scheduled time. Are you surprised to see the 4 stars, now? If you met Karen you wouldn't be.. She was the most amazing woman and literally removed all the knots from my stress filled auditor back and neck. She was INCREDIBLE and despite the fact that I prefer the luxuries and amenities provided at the Mandarin spa, I will likely be back because Karen does the most incredible job at the deep tissue massage that I will HAVE to go back :) Thank you, Karen. Best day ever. We came here for a indulgent day of pampering. We booked massages for ourselves and spent the day at the pool. The atmosphere was so calm and relaxing, with a bit of fun Miami sprinkled in. We got there early and grabbed chairs with an umbrella and a view, the waitstaff was super accommodating and nice. Some people had their dogs here, but overall it was a young-ish chill crowd, relaxing and having a good time. No drunk sunburnt shoobies...very "Miami". Tip- Arctic plunge was the best thing! Best Spa Experience My husband and I came to the spa at The Standard for a relaxing Sunday. Our experience could not have been better! The spa was very clean and beautiful. We were provided with robes upon arrival and relaxed in the Turkish style Hamam as we waited for our massage therapists. The Hamam was basic, but large with showers and a steam room. My 90 minute Swedish massage was administered by Alexandra and was by far the best I've ever had. This means a lot, as I regularly go for massages and have tried many different therapists over the years. This fact alone makes me want to return as soon as possible. After our massages we went to the outdoor pools. The pool service was excellent! Our server was friendly, attentive and gave excellent drink recommendations. The pina colada with shaved coconut was to die for! We spent the afternoon lounging by the pool and taking occasional dips. The hot tub with waterfall was a nice touch. It is small, but we had it to ourselves. I made a quick dip in the cold plunge pool which was refreshing. My favourite was lounging in the large infinity pool. There were a few people in it, but it is very spacious, so you're not bothered by other people being around. You also have the option to jump into the ocean off one of the many boat docks, but we stuck to the pools and taking in the views. My only suggestions are that the lockers in the changerooms could be updated as multiple people were having issues with the old locker combo system they use. Also, service at reception could have been more efficient as all 3 receptionists were always on the phone, but overall everyone was very friendly and helpful. Afterwards, we hit up the Lido Bayside Grill which is located beside the pools for happy hour which I also highly recommend. The ceviche, lobster rolls and empanadas were all excellent. Our experience here was extremely underwhelming. We expected this supposedly high end boutique hotel and Spa to have top notch facilities. What we found was much to the contrary. See attached photos of the restrooms, let's just say their photos provided on yelp are heavily photoshopped. My wife and I were very disappointed, as of course we were expecting something much nicer. We went to outdoor area prior to our massage and we waited almost 40 minutes to get service for drinks and food. Once we ordered the food, it came out quickly and efficiently. The coconut water was amazing, as it should be for $8, the rest of the food was average. We found it hard to spend more than one hour at the spa facility as they are honestly limited and over crowded. I mean who wants to either get seen or see someone taking a Hamam bath? We opted not to bathe in front of other people. The saving grace of the whole experience was the actual massage. Crystal did a phenomenal job and almost made me forget all the above. I just fail to see the value in a near $200 experience where the facilities are seriously lacking. I would urge them to provide massage only package since that was the only part of the experience I actually enjoyed. For a better overall experience try the biltmore or Mandarin oriental spas, both have clean and updated facilities you can actually enjoy. read more
