I enjoyed my week stay here, it is a good location and since I was there for business I didn't have a chance to check out the pool or other accommodations. The room was clean and comfortable. I am rating it four because there are in serious need of updating their lobby furniture because it is dated and worn.

Still a go to spot for me! The rooms are showing their age a bit...but it adds to the charm, for me-I love a cozy boutique hotel, over a large chain. Service is still top notch-bottle of wine in our room and at check in (as we missed the happy hour by maybe 10 minutes.) Bellhop service, front desk, and room service are all friendly and super helpful. They had extended events going on for the holidays-it was fun to try different drinks and chat with people. Had both a great beach day Saturday (wonderful service, I wish I could remember their names!) as well as a pool day Sunday. Even got an upgrade to a free daybed (I think it's because my husband is so cute ) Super dog friendly-Jack Jack even had his own amenities at check in and was happy to show off all his tricks (fist pump was popular.) We will be back!

Nice pool with Dj In the afternoon. Clean and great customer service. Derek was a great entertainment guide in the afternoon! Wish the showers had doors on them.

Beautiful place but questionable service. Also we paid for a cabana until 6pm and at 4pm they told us we had to leave for a special event. then they said we could stay but we had to move. By the time we packed up we decided to leave. Food took almost 2 hours to come and was just ok. Calamari was from a frozen box and lollipop wings were decent. drinks were good and the pool was nice. probably would go somewhere else next time.

The Kimpton Surfcomber is a intimate and service oriented small hotel on Collins Ave. Located amongst all the activity , restaurants/bars/stores, the Kimpton provides tranquility and fun before you go back out to adventure Service without attitude was everywhere as the hotel staff clearly know how to treat guests. We ate in the downstairs restaurant for breakfast once and it was very good. Pool area is beautiful with massage areas tucked away off the pool , a bar, lounging area and Yoga area. All the way at the back of the property is direct access to the beautiful beaches of Miami No doubt I would book another stay at Kimpton Surfcomber - I hope you enjoy it as much as we did

My friend and I stayed here for the weekend earlier this December. Definitely make sure that all members of your party are on the reservation as they won't let you check in or use any of the hotel facilities like the pool or beach. I arrived a few hours before my friend, and I wanted to lie out by the pool, but the manager refused to let me check in, so I had to buy a day pass through resort pass in order to use the pool. While it was a bit of a rough start to the weekend, I really enjoyed the pool experience. Escaping the cold, New Jersey weather and lying out in the breezy yet sunny Miami weather was a dream. When my friend arrived, we headed up to the room to prepare for dinner. Our room was clean, modern, and airy. They had a mini bar with lots of good wines and lots of snacks in case you don't feel like leaving the room. You can stream your device to the smart TV as well as check out through the TV. The bathroom was small, but clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. Air-conditioning worked well and I wore the robe to even wore the robe to stay warm! The hotel has a fantastic location in South Beach. It's walking distance to Lincoln Road, a Walgreens, and lots of restaurants in little shops along Collins Avenue. We felt safe walking around, but as always, be aware of your surroundings. Inside the hotel, there's a restaurant and they have coffee, hot chocolate, and wine in the lobby at certain times in the day. The grounds are beautiful and great for strolling around. The pool and beach areas are really nice. To check into the pool, you have to make sure you're wearing your bracelet of the day and you go to the stand and pick up your towels. The staff will set it up for you and someone is usually taking food and drink orders while you enjoy yourself. Things are definitely expensive on the menu, but the quality and service is good and you get what you pay for! For the beach, it's the same. You walk up to the hut, and they set up your lounge chair for you. The ocean was beautiful and the weather was perfect so we had a really wonderful time on our beach day. They also bring food and drink to you at the beach and they can either charge your hotel room or you can pay cash. Sleep quality was pretty good. I always travel with a white noise machine as there's usually a lot of noise or unfamiliar sounds at a hotel. If I was in the area again, I wouldn't mind staying here again!

I've stayed at several Kimpton hotels and this one by far was the biggest disappointment. I flew into Miami for work but it was also my partners birthday so I brought them with me so they could enjoy this beautiful city. However, the Kimpon defenitly let us down and if I would of known the experience and room I would have recieved, I defenitly would of stayed elsewhere. I've honestly stayed at Hilton and marriot hotels that are way nicer then this resort. I stayed here in March of 2024 and it's a really outdated hotel. This place defenitly needs a revamp. The resort grounds itself are very nice and the beach access is convenient. Good location in south beach. As a Platinum member, I tried checking at noon. They informed me my premium room with city view would be available soon. I waited till about 2pm and inquired again about my room, the front desk stated they couldn't get ahold of housekeeping so to wait a little more which I had no problem. By 4:20 I still hadn't been notified that my room was ready so when I checked again with the front desk, they stated that my room still wasn't ready but that they are moving me to one that was. I had no issue since I needed to get into a room fast since I had to go to a work meeting shortly. We got up to our accessible room and it was a total let down. To be paying as much as we are and get a room that's all dinged up and dirty is so disappointing. We let the front desk we are unhappy with our room and that our shower was broken and they just apologized and sent up a handy man to fix the shower. The IHG service I'm use to is defenitly not here. I highly reccomend you don't waste your money here like I did. $700 bucks I won't be getting back staying here for two nights. Really dissapointed with my stay and I just hope they can improve this resort. Not fair to their consumers/customers who are paying $300-$400 a night to stay here.

Rooms are small, terrible view, real lack of amenities. Food was average. Pool was good but too hard to get a chair. Several areas looked like outdoor storage from items long ago discarded. $6 for a Coke.

It was good once I was able to get it.

As a self-professed Kimpton junkie, I put a lot of effort into deciding which Miami-area property to stay at on a recent trip. I chose the Surfcomber for its proximity to the beach, and I think that was the best part about this property. There was very little that felt like a Kimpton to me other than seeing the various Kimpton signs throughout the property. The room itself left much to be desired. There was a THICK coat of dust on both end tables, so thick that we could not rub it off easily. The bathroom was, as everyone mentioned, tiny, and the shower was awful. It was hard to adjust the temperature in the shower, and the knob actually came off in my hand the last day. The shower also did not drain, so we had to stand in ankle-deep water every time we showered. There was sand left in it when we were done after we came back from the beach. It was just gross. The blinds did not sufficiently block out the light, so we woke up earlier than planned both nights. There was also nowhere to store anything. This came at the tail of a week-long trip in multiple locations, and I had a full-sized suitcase I had to wedge between the bed and wall. As a Diamond IHG member, I was not offered an upgrade of any sort, and the only amenity I received was "free" breakfast, which was not actually free because it only counted up to $20, which most entrees were more than, and we had to pay tax and tip separately. (Tip was automatically added.) I've never encountered this at Kimpton before, and even stayed at the Ft. Lauderdale property after and the free breakfast was truly ALL IN. The highlight, though, was the beach. It was the beach, after all. Beyond that, it was average, again not Kimpton standard. We rented an umbrella for $25 and used the two "free" beach chairs that came with the huge amenity fee charged nightly by the hotel (which felt a little or a waste as we checked in late the first night and left early the second morning). There was drink service, but it was hard to flag them down. The crew was also extremely quick to take the umbrellas down due to the first gust of wind, which I understand, but they were slower to put them up than every other property along the beach. We didn't use the pool, but it was massively crowded and had a loud DJ when we walked back from the beach. That is probably some people's thing, but this doesn't seem like the "relax and chill" properly if that's what you're looking for. The service was fine. I didn't feel like anyone went beyond the basic standards of care for us. As mentioned, no upgrades based on status were given and no one seemed too concerned when we reported how bad the shower was. Finally, the valet was absurdly slow. It took almost a half hour to get your car, and usually the pull through area in front of the hotel was packed and difficult to navigate. The first time we got our car, we actually had to walk out onto the busy street and get in that way. Not the safest method. All in all, this place only has any good feelings because of its beach location. It definitely does not live up to that Kimpton standard.

We stayed here for a long weekend and overall enjoyed it a ton! The pool, lobby and walkway to the pool were all lovely. Our room was fine- clean and comfortable but no balcony (no rooms had a balcony) and the bathroom was small! It was our 30th Anniversary and the hotel did leave us a card and dessert plate which was thoughtful. We enjoyed the beach chairs - and the pool was perfect after time in the ocean. The morning coffee was delicious as was the evening wine. Parking was expensive but the valet guys were friendly and it is Miami. Best part of this hotel is the location - close to fantastic restaurants and the beach.

My friend and I came to the hotel bar located poolside/beachside for their Havana Nights event. The organizer gave us two free mojitos each with RSVP, which by the way, packed quite a punch! They have a beautiful pool area which leads to a tiki bar patio and sandbar. The gate that encloses it gives way to beach access. The patio has a stage where we listened to a great Cuban band while sipping on our mojitos. It does have a contrast with the polished looking poolside area right next to it, since the tables and chairs are all bare wooden mixed in with picnic tables. The string lights they had up made it cute, like someone's backyard. They have a hammock strung up that was fun to sit in and take pictures with. We thought it would be more of a lounge type of setting and event, considering the caliber of hotel, so we were a bit surprised by the setup. It looked like the people who came out were either hotel guests or older patrons, which explained why we were immediately hit on by a table of guys when we arrived at the bar. The person who appeared to be a manager was welcoming when we checked in for the event, the bartender not so much. I don't think I saw him smile as he made the drinks and presented them to us. He may not have been very excited to be working there. Regardless of the people who work at or patronize the establishment, I saw the hotel facilities are certainly worth a return for, i.e. the pool and beach access point. I'm very much up for going back for a meal here!

Comfy bed and a cool wooden key card.

If you were traveling for work and staying at this hotel, and needed a day to just forget that everyone existed, this would be great for that. My friends and I flew down from Richmond during a crazy winter storm and decided to get a day pass here among other things. The day pass included spa access during their open hours, as well as pool access. Unfortunately, because of the unseasonably cool weather, the hotel had not opened the pool which pretty much made the spa the only option for anyone else who had purchased the resort pass too, and I'm just not sure the facilities were up to that task. The spa itself had a relaxation area, which was three lounge chairs in the room with a hot tub and a cold tub. In the room next to that, there was a dry sauna, a wet sauna, and a shower. I'm not a huge fan of the dry sauna, dry heat isn't really my thing, but I did rather like the wet sauna room. It was nice and large, and the hot steamy air felt great on my poor frozen winter storm lungs. The cold plunge pool is also not my thing, but the hot tub was awesome, but it had a couple of pretty huge problems. The first was that it was up a flight of stairs. Everyone in our party has limited mobility in some fashion and One of our party uses a walker and isn't super mobile at all, so it was very difficult to actually make it to the hot tub. Might have been nice to know it wasn't actually accessible before we booked the spa. Luckily, even though she isn't super mobile, she is able to haul herself very slowly up stairs, provided it has a nice sturdy railing... Which it did have a railing... unfortunately the railing was completely loose at the bottom and not particularly sturdy since it was only partially connected. It had stone steps, and due to the nature of the room, they were a bit wet so they had nonskid stickers on them, but it had unfortunately peeled up and was mostly loose. Ultimately, our friend ended up using us as the steady banister to get up the stairs, but that probably wasn't any safer since it wasn't like we had anything to hold onto because again... slippery stairs and loose banister. We made it up safely, and then try to get in the hot tub. The tub itself is square, has a ladder railing, but we couldn't actually see any ladder steps, so we kind of had to guess where was safe to get in the pool. Being the most mobile of the group, I ended up sitting on the edge of the tub and feeling around with my feet until I figured out that the tub has three walls with stone benches around it that we could step on and get in. We only actually figured out after getting out that the pool had sunken footholds in the wall, not an actual ladder. Never would have found those getting in, but learn from our ignorance. The hot tub is awesome, the jets were great and absolutely the thing we needed after the plane flight and freezing winter storms, but everyone else felt that way too, so we were unable to get back in it again like we would have liked. We ended up heading out earlier than we intended and just sitting outside for the rest of our stay. Overall, the place is small, which makes it hit or miss as to whether or not you can use the facilities, which makes it hit or miss as to whether it is a good value for the day pass. You may luck out, or you may strike out.

The other highlight was our massage experience, Eddy, my technician was extremely professional and talented, the best massage I have ever had, so thank you, Eddy! Lastly, the person who scheduled our services over email, Karla Gutierrez, who was very professional and capable. What did not work: Upon checking in, the lady at the counter (in the spa) was unable to provide a breakdown of charges and had a hard time establishing eye contact. Maybe assumptions were made, which is the only explanation I could come up with based on her behavior. Ultimately I gave up and asked for a receipt. My questions were simple, I paid in advance (a deposit) how is it applied? Do they take off the difference? Or do they reimburse and charge again? She was unable to answer. I have her name in my receipt, but I chose to omit it as anyone can have a bad day. My guest and I proceeded to compare facilities with other well known spas: Lapis at the Fontainebleau and Tierra Santa at Faena- which charge similar rates. Let me tell you, the Standard is very subpar in 1) hospitality and 2) Vibe and decor. The standard's decor is art deco and while I understand the look, the place just seemed old. There is only one station for hair drying/makeup in the locker room, the water in my shower was cold, although my guest's was fine. The Hammam stone was use for towel storage as you will see in picture. No guest is shown in the image and I decided to take the picture because I could not believe it and for this review. There was constant walking in and out of the Hammam (by the staff) to replenish, you guessed it, towels, which made the experience far from relaxing. For the price I was expecting much more. We ended up leaving early without using all the services, but we did walk to the sauna, which seemed nice, but it was super full, and the ice room, which was underwhelming. Alejandro was the best Masseuse I've ever had. I have been to over 20 luxury spas and I have never…read morefelt like I had a new body afterward. They are always relaxing, of course but nobody ever seemed to get it right until this visit at the Valmont in Miami. I didn't request a specific gender or person but somehow I got Alejandro and it was amazing. His warm and kind mannerisms made me feel comfortable. The massage was even better. I will for sure return!

I love the valmont products and I was excited to try this location for the spa. Parking is valet…read moreand they give you 4 hours at the discount price. If you go over 4 hours then you get charged the full fee $35 to valet. To get to the SPA you have to walk across the lobby and outside and across to the SPA check-in area. The changing area and sauna and one person steam room shower is located here. Then to get to the treatment area you have to walk back across the outside area and the front lobby through the area with guests and all their luggage to the elevator in your robe. This is not a great experience and you must repeat this step after your treatment. The relaxing area is nice and I was excited to find my favorite tea. They only had one China tea cup and the only other option was paper cups for the 5 people in that area. I got the tea cup for myself. I poured the water and the tea pot has cold water in it. I had to start over. The tea kettle was the cheapest Breville tea kettle with not temperature settings. The water got boiling hot but the tea is herbal, green mint or chamomile which doesn't get boiling water. Anyway it was too hot for the tea. My massage therapist was a bit late as they are the ones cleaning the area on the first floor but he apologized and said I still got my full massage time. I didn't mind that. The parking lot next door is under major construction and despite it being Sunday the noise was not massage friendly and I guess the massage rooms had no soundproofing. The rooms are comfortable and the beds are heated. After the massage they rushed us out of the lounging area. We went back down to checkout and get changed and ready for brunch. See the restaurant for the brunch experience.
