I used Executive(a North American franchise) to move from SoCal to the Sacramento area. Justin Bird had great advice and worked hard to woo my business. His quote came in very high, but he figured out he'd made an error in his calculations, which brought the quote to a competitive rate. This didn't engender confidence, but, based on his persistence, knowledgeability, and reviews, I signed. Things began to fall apart with communications right before my move. First, Justin amended his original quote to include an extra expense for a shuttle ($1,000) because my street was narrow. This was discussed, but Ryan had seen my street and was fairly certain it wouldn't be needed. Another rookie error on his part and I probably would have signed with the other company who already calculated in the shuttle. I had hoped to save this fee. I hadn't heard from the company and called to verify they would be coming the next day, as planned. I spoke with Mary, the moving coordinator. She said they actually didn't have a truck available until the following day and would need to delay my move. I couldn't believe they didn't even call me about this- I called them! I was moving animals and the people buying my house were pressuring to get in and charging me extra every day. Mary said if I insisted, they would have to pick up my load with smaller trucks, drive it to their offices, unload and reload onto a larger truck the next day. I wasn't happy with all the extra handling, but told her that would have to be done. The original moving crew in SoCal was excellent, cheerful, and efficient. I drove up to Sac the next day and awaited my furniture. The contract states a window of about a week to deliver. I tried getting ahold of Justin to find out what day in that window they'd deliver. Mary kept intercepting his calls and was nice, but highly inefficient and couldn't give me an answer. This went on a few days. I never had a call returned by her. Always had to hunt her down. Finally, I told her it was unacceptable that I didn't have a delivery date. She agreed and said she'd try her best. When I called (again) the next day, she told me it would be Wednesday and the team would call me when they were on their way. On Tuesday morning, here they come. No call. Luckily I was there and happy to get my things a day earlier. My heart sank when I saw my boxes stacked 25 feet high with no attention paid to those marked 'fragile'. Those were on the bottom. It took all day for the two guys to offload. They were fine, but in a big hurry to finish and rushed at the end. Wouldn't unbox my tv(55") or reassemble the few things the other crew had taken apart. I'm a single woman and can't do some of it alone. They said they could be held liable and that someone from the company would come back out. When I called Mary the next day, she said they should have reassembled anything that their workers had disassembled and would send someone out. Two months later, I'm still waiting- ha, ha. I didn't have as much breakage as I feared, but we had packed very carefully with bubble wrap, etc. Notes to the wary:The front man sent to your home is a typical salesman and just wants to get the contract. Don't expect continued communication. Many of the same problems are reported with most movers- read reviews carefully. Move pictures, antiques, anything irreplaceable yourself if able. Better yet, be ruthless about paring down your belongings and move them yourself. Movers are very expensive (thousands) and should be avoided if possible. I Called EMS about 3 days before I had to move out of my house, and spoke to Justin Bird, who was a tremendous help. He helped me to set up the move immediately as well as my storage which was a big plus! 3 movers arrived at my house, laid runners throughout the entire house to protect the floors, disassembled all of my furniture & packed it very carefully. Not only were these 3 guys SO nice and polite, they were so fast! I had a 2 story, 2 bedroom + Loft house fully furnished, which they managed to get everything out in 3.5 hours! We moved from Orange County to LA but had to keep our possessions in storage until we found a home in LA. Executive Moving Systems handled everything and made the process simple. HORRIBLE! Zero stars would be appropriate. We had two of their reps out to quote a move from Laguna Beach to Newport. We accepted the quote and scheduled the move day. The morning of the move, their van shows up with four men just s expected. The lead guy walks the house and informs me that he cannot do the move in the hours quoted and he would need to charge an additional 6-8 hours! Classic bait and switch con game. Moving out of state and because I have done this three times in the last 10 years I had some total nightmares. I came upon executive moving searching yelp and reading reviews. I was impressed too on how they store the furniture with military style vaults. I wasn't disappointed they showed up on time and got right to work Fernando and his two man crew packed my furniture very well and was helpful and guiding me on the things I packed that would break and needed repacking. I appreciated this because I packed my home myself. My furniture will be with them a month or more in storage and I don't feel I need to worry and believe me that is half the battle in long distance moving. Incredible move. I am thrilled with this company. I got 10 quotes from other companies. Executive was not the lowest bid, but I went with them because the bid was transparent and up front with costs. I figured the cheap bids would be more expensive in the long run. Prior to the move, I got a call from Melanie (didn't get her last name), the woman coordinating my move. Unasked, she researched my house and took the initiative to look up the sale photos from zillow to anticipate our needs. Frankly, I was just expecting three guys and a truck, not this level of care on the front end. Communication was great all through the experience. On the day of the move, the movers showed up precisely on time and moved everything with lightening speed, wrapping everything in blankets, and not a single thing was scratched. They even wrapped things I would have personally just chucked in the truck. What's interesting is how considerate they were. They politely asked if they could use our restroom and asked again when they wanted some tap water. The way I see it, as hard as they were working, I wouldn't have been offended if they did that without asking. I think we all agree moving is never fun. For context, I've had great and horrible moving experiences and can without a doubt say that EMS is the BEST! Ryan, Kristi and Bill were very professional, responsive and most importantly, honest. The move actually ended up costing slightly less than quoted versus it the other way around that I've experienced dealing with other shady companies. There were NO surprises when the EMS movers showed up on the day of the move like I've had with other companies when they tell you this or that isn't included, gas is extra, it will take longer and ends up costing 4x what was quoted. It was a very pleasant surprise that they over delivered on what they promised. I kept wondering when the 'gotcha's' were going to rear up, but they never did! We did an intra state move and had to put things in storage for 4 months. Everything was transparent - priced and handled as stated. Upon delivery, I was amazed to see all of our things in crates. Everything was protected in storage. Amazingly, it was in the same condition as when it was packed! I would be remiss not to acknowledge the moving crew! They are the execution team crucial to making this a positive experience. They were extremely professional, efficient and courteous. This is probably the worst experience I have had with movers. I've moved 3 times in the last 3 years and this company failed on so many levels. I moved across the country in August 2018 and paid thousands of dollars. They lost boxes of very important items and failed to compensate for the loss. It states in their contract that they pay per box on lost items but they are not reputable and have not paid. These guys came in on a rainy, cold day and didnt even flinch at the (2) flights of stairs we have outside - They hauled box after box, and all of our expensive and heavy furniture up and down with a SMILE. At every turn, they were pulling out screw drivers, removing doors, disassembling my headboard and bedframe, even wrapped my all fragile items in blankets and shrink wrap for safe transport. My move with Executive was very pleasant to begin with and they even stored my furniture and other items for a couple of months but when it came time for the delivery of my furniture I was charged for being on the second floor which I wasn't charged for on the move out and the driver charged me for a long haul, an additional $350.00 because he wouldn't move his truck over to my apartment building though one of the tenants who was an 18 wheel truck driver showed him how to maneuver his truck around and the guys working with him also expressed that he should drive around as he had been instructed but he refused and charged me over $425.00 in extra fees. I filed a claim with CSI and after three months was told that I needed to take this up with the moving facility and not with them. So I'm out an additional $425.00 which I don't feel I should be. read more

So glad I did not waste my precious time during a stressful move after 16 years in a family home to a tri-level condo. Mark and Melanie were helpful and pleasant beforehand and the crew that came out on moving day were just fantastic. They trekked up and down stairs all day with our heavy boxes and placed them in our closets and storage spaces just as we wanted. When a queen box spring would not fit down a staircase, they came up with a plan to lower it over a balcony! I can't speak highly enough about this company. The move was not a total disaster, but it was far from satisfactory. Before I paid anything, communication was great. As soon as I was "sold" as a customer, communication was terrible at all levels. Pickup guys went to the wrong address. Move arrived multiple days late. In the late afternoon the day before delivery we were told to clear cars for the truck arriving next morning -- obviously that wasn't enough time to find the owners of cars on the street and ask them to move or to put up no parking signs. Delivery guys were unaware that our house had a second floor and were unprepared for what was required in terms of carrying heavy furniture up a flight of stairs. All of our stuff arrived, so again not a disaster. But compared to the other company I used for this move, Executive was very unorganized and chaotic. I hired Executive moving Systems ( Ryan B)) to move me across country ( which took over two weeks! Other than the driver using dirty blankets to wrap my brand new sectional couch the move went fairly well, better then past moves. I decided after only 4 months of living in a new state and in my new place that I wanted to return to CA, so I decided to call Ryan back and schedule a pick up. I requested the same driver that took me to SC, but he was not available. I had to ship my car as well this time so coordinating them both at the same time was crucial. Bottom line, Ryan and Victoria really screwed me over on the second move! I was scheduled for pick up on a Thursday and the night before I contacted Victoria to re confirm the arrival time of the"North American driver" and she was acting evasive and now not willing to confirm the arrival time to load the truck the next day, then she asked me if I would be willing to have an "Allied van lines driver pick up my belongings and take them back to CA! I told her absolutely no that I hired North American not Allied ( They are apparently recently all one company now!) Fast forward to pick up day , around 9:30am a "Allied Van shows up a small shuttle truck for local moves and I was being told that Allied would be loading my stuff on their truck ( 5,000 lbs on to this very small truck and the dumped off in a storage unit in a bad part of town , that I have no idea about or seen, and the North American driver would reload my belongings back on the truck at the storage unit ( Allied van lines storage facility) and transport them back to CA,on Friday instead on scheduled Thursday! I luckily was not scheduled to Fly home until Saturday, so I told the Allied van lines NO that they were not taking my belongings! I could not reach Ryan at EMS because they were not open yet, so I had to sit and wait two hours until they opened to discuss this with them! Victoria and Ryan NEVER bothered to ask me if this change of plans was ok with me! Ryan knew that under no circumstances did I want my stuff shuttled that it was to go directly onto the 18 wheeler. Everything down to my shower curtain was packed, my car was already picked up, and fridge was cleaned out , so I had no food ! Thank goodness my neighbor took me to get food for the next two days! Then the driver showed from North American had no help the next day,Friday one day late had to wait for help and ended up going all day, Ryan and Victoria acted like all of this was not a big deal and the driver told me he was putting a JEEP truck and jet ski's on the same truck with my furniture!!!I found out that he was not supposed to do this from North American corporate plus he is a smoker and put my stuff at risk and everything smelled of smoke. Then he gets lost coming to my apartment and only has two guys to move me into my new place and storage! They took 7 hours for a 1 bedroom and a small storage, most of my furniture was damaged and the driver had the nerve to take a black sharpie pen to fill in chips and scratches right in front of me before I could stop him, and admitted to using on my furniture when it was down in the truck. They also stole from me! Next the helpers put all 14 of my garment boxes at the bottom of the stairs and expected me to unload them and carry all if the clothes up 3 flights of stairs ! Really? I have bad knee that was incorrectly replaced, and should not be doing this! My pictures of my late father and grandfathers stuff that was packed was also scattered all over the truck and he never called the inventory numbers on my belongings and checked them off. I still have to go to my storage and see what else is missing! This is what I get for giving them two moves in a 4 month time frame?At the end Ryan and Victoria were really nasty with me, and of course I had to buy extra insurance ( with a large deductible)to pay for having my stuff damaged , stolen from and I was delayed one day from getting picked up, oh but they are allowed to get away with all of this! Very disappointed and shocked that they would treat any customer this way especially a REPEAT customer! I begged Ryan for some compensation , he basically only gave me the difference back on what it was to ship my stuff back East and what the real weight turned out to be! I had a flat rate but when asked to get a copy if the weight ticket going back to CA they refused , which I am pretty sure is not legal. The end result is I am so disgusted with being lied to, stolen from, belongings brand new furniture damaged, delay in my pick up and for EMS to put me through all of this stress knowing I just lost my father is unconscionable!! I guess the lesson learned there us No such thing as loyalty to the customer, Shame on you guys! After going through many moving companies and quotes for our cross country move from California to Florida, I must say, we made the right choice. When we called them, they were at least the 6th company we asked for an estimate. EMS were not the cheapest, but they did come highly recommended by a trusted friend and their customer service was excellent from day one. Ryan Bird, Director of Sales, came to our house to survey and give us an accurate estimate on what it would cost to move all our stuff (including the packing, at an extra cost, of course). We kept in touch and a week before our move we signed the contract and got the ball rolling. Any questions I had regarding price or logistics, they were always at hand to respond. The team who handled our packing was great. They came in early and were very patient with us, as we were barely ready for them to come inside the house. Our kids were hungry, breakfast was being served, we still had things we didn't want to pack... it was a little chaotic, to say the least. But they handled everything with professionalism and when they were done, everything was packed, labeled and itemised. Two days later, the loaders came and they were great as well. But the highlight was the driver, Mr. Massy. Great guy from Tennessee, he had a lot of experience going cross country, and gave us great comfort letting us know that everything would arrive safe & sound and on time. And, sure enough, four days later he called to let us know that he would arrive the next day early in the morning. We met him at 8am sharp and he was there, although the unloading crew was a couple of minutes late. But, that's fine. They still did a good job when the time came. And, as always, Mr. Massy was there to help out in any way he could. When all was said and done, our stuff arrived in great condition and on time. We had a great experience using EMS for our cross country move and would highly recommend them. read more

I cannot recommend this company. Ryan Bird was professional and so was the crew at pickup. Somewhere along the line my goods were transferred to another crew, and that is where the move went terribly wrong. The movers at delivery were completely malicious. The employee at my storage unit observed them throwing my fragile goods over and underhand. When she confronted them, they said, "Busted!" My neighbors observed them throwing boxes and mishandling my piano. One medium size box was not delivered. Another box, which was packed with the utmost care was obviously opened, items removed, a few crushed items left in the box, and re-taped. A table leg was broken. The delivery crew was completely unprofessional and destructive. I had a $500. deductible, which was a serious mistake, although I expect the insurance company would deny, deny and deny no matter how much insurance, in order to get out of paying a dime on the claim. I was very disappointed with my move. Executive Moving Systems needs to investigate the outgoing journey of my goods. Why is the company hiring hooligans to deliver? In fairness, the pickup and delivery went smoothly. If you don't care about damages they refuse to pay for, then, by all means, hire them. I have a floor lamp with 2 lights: the top globe is a daylight light, and the flexible arm has a bright LED light. When the mover came, he took it apart: it comes in 4 segments, each one screwing into the other. It's not an easy thing to assemble, you have to be careful of the wires leading from the base to the globe, but I've had the lamp for several years with nary a problem. Whether it was broken unscrewing it or putting it back together, I couldn't tell you, but the globe no longer lights. The LED arm does. Obviously, when they screwed in the last segment, they cut or crimped the wire, but you can't see it, it has a casing over it. I looked up the price of a new one, and sent them my original invoice (I paid $169) and a copy of the catalog page with the new price, which is $229. And the response? I couldn't prove it worked before. The second part is the mover wasn't given the large mattress box. I happened to have 2 very large cardboard picture boxes (which together cost $104 plus tax) which I gave him to cut up. I filled out the paperwork and sent a copy of my invoice, and never heard from the company. Not even an, "We're not going to pay it." I emailed them three times, turned them over to the BBB, and nothing. So, mover beware! read more

Our move was a complicated one, going from Chapel Hill, NC to LA, involving a truck and two cars, but Melanie Anderson handled every issue that arose with aplomb. We felt very well taken care of and completely confident that she had our best interests at heart. She even stayed late at the office the day we hit town so we'd be able to get our cars, which she arranged to store since they arrived before we did, and she stopped by our house in La Canada the day the truck arrived to make sure all went well. Once he left if I had any questions or needed to change anything he responded right away. They treat you more like friends and family rather than (another company) someone who just needs to move. Our move from California to Arizona was very stressful. Thank goodness Ryan Bird and Kristi Jones from Executive Moving Systems were there to make it a lot easier. From the first contact to the last box being delivered the service was great. The packers and the movers were very prompt, courteous and professional. I wrote the review below but since then Ryan Bird contacted me and made an effort to apologize and try and fix some of the issues of why I was so upset. Progress made and people make mistakes... Do NOT use them if you want your stuff in one shipment, on-time, or at all. Our move with Executive Moving Systems (agent for North American Van Lines) was a nightmare. I purposely went with a large moving company to avoid issues and was assured by the salesman, Mark Anderson using the large company was the way to go. He disappeared as soon as I signed the contract (even after multiple calls). The Contract with Executive Moving Systems agent for North American Van Lines stated that our pick-up date would be on 5/16/2014 (one day to load - not two) and that ALL of our items would be delivered between 5/19-5/23/2014. At no time prior to the contract being signed did anyone from Executive Moving Systems or North American mention that our shipment would not be completed in one shipment. In fact, our move was in two shipments, which arrived on 5/20/2014 and on 6/11/2014 (3+ weeks later after the contract date). We were told everything in our small house (1310 sq feet) would be loaded in one truck and during one day. Nope, The day of the pick up the driver showed up with the van ¾ full and told us our stuff would be in two shipments. They took the entire day to load half of our stuff and had to come back a second day and load the rest into a small truck, then take the second half of the load to a warehouse, crate it and then ship it. No wonder stuff was damaged and missing...ugh! During the packing of the truck, the driver Rocky Rodriguez was rushed and did not properly label. There were errors in the labeling and invoicing because he starting bring out boxes to the truck and then brought them back to the garage for storage. All concerns were verbally communicated throughout the day and I was assured all items would be delivered. There was additional unexpected damage to our items because they took apart every chair, table, bikes, etc. so they could fit them in both trucks (which is also not a standard practice and not made clear prior to signing the contract). The movers that delivered the second shipment stated, "I have never seen anyone take chairs, bikes and grills, etc. a part to fit them in a truck. Especially to this extent...this is crazy". In addition, the handling of our items in two shipments caused several items to become lost. When asked if they could contact the driver or if Executive Moving Systems would attempt to locate items...we were told to put in a claim. No attempts were made to find our missing items. Once again our, second shipment did not arrive until 3+ weeks later (which was outside our original agreement). During the 3+ week ordeal, we got the run-a-round on when our items would be delivered. I talked to the President, Bill Bird every other day, each time he was annoyed and would tell me he should have a delivery date "tomorrow" or in "2 days". He said I wasn't being reasonable because I wanted him to ship the second half of my items to me ASAP (within in the contract dates) and "that was not how it worked in shipping". My favorite was when he said he was going out of his way to help me and that it was costing him money. Total...BS. No customer service, sense of compassion or cash compensation was offered from Bill Bird. I would expect more from a "President". read more
