Stay away from this company , all they care about is raising your storage price. I rented a 5x 5 storage unit for about $80 a month , then after 2 months they raised the price to $120!!! Absolutely ridiculous considering I haven't even been there for that long. I went to check their current rates again on their website and they have the same unit for $88 a month . Talk about price gouging. Also if you move out early they don't prorate and refund for any days you didn't use the space . As soon as I got the notice about my bill increasing to $40 more i started my move out process. Took my business elsewhere and the customer service at the new place is a lot more better and less creepy. I have had a unit since January 2023, recently my pricing went up and I was in search for a drive-up smaller box. After many months of waiting one finally was available. I called immediately to reserve it, the lady at the Placentia office assured me that it was reserved til Saturday. I arranged movers and family members to all meet on Saturday to help me move to the new unit. Upon arrival to sign it, the lady informs me that the box is no longer available and was given to someone else. She stated that reservations mean nothing. She was not helpful, only apologized and said there was nothing she could do. It was the worst experience and worst costumer service ever. I was horrified that all these people came to help me and I didn't have anywhere to move to. Not only did I waste my time but everyone else's. I won't be recommending this facility to anyone ever. Edited to add more info. So I called to cancel my unit, it was cleaned out and lock was removed like they asked. I called to cancel it and the guy said I would get a cancellation email by the end of the day. Waited two days and didn't receive anything so I called back, and the guy on the phone says it was never cancelled and he will do it now. Luckily I called back to follow-up. read more

So I thought it was suspicious that the day I rented my unit the team member was being so pushy about giving him a 5 star review the same day, like I don't even know you or your business so I would be lying if I did. Now than I've been here a few months I can give a more information like the fact that they have a free fist month offer for new customers but they raised the rent on my 10x20 to $460 something almost $500.. I use my storage a lot and have exited the facility less than 30 minutes after closing and got a call saying they will not continue to rent to me if I don't exit before the closing time. I feel their units are overpriced and not worth the cost or value. The manager Danny released my personal information over the phone when I said I don't disclose full information via SSN or DL # over the phone because of identity theft issues. He still read the DL back to me which is privacy data breach 101. If I wasn't the person, I would have gotten persona data and could use that for illegal purposes. You never read back to customers info over the phone especially their data. As mentioned several times to management there, my identity was stolen and the more I tell people the more they violate my private information. There is an identity thief that is claiming to be me and using all my information for monetary gain and to Illegally file false claims in my name. I asked for a one time exception for a lien waive fee for COVID related money hardship issues and I was denied a credit back even though my belongings did not go up for auction or anything happen. I think this Storage company deserves zero stars. Here's why! - We have been customers on and off for 3 years. In the beginning all was good, however over this time the staff have become more incompetent. - We have been wrongly locked out of our unit several times, through their mistakes. Twice after the manager went on holiday and left a brand new person in charge with no experience. - We have been double charged 3 times. With no apologies or compensation. - We are not even informed when the rent increases. - After a rent issue with them charging an expired credit card ( despite the fact we have them the new one) they continued several times not to charge the new card and only charge the old one. This led to us being locked out Over a 3 day holiday weekend. To be quite honest several members of our family use this storage, and for many years. They like us are currently in the process of looking for a better alternative. My advice to you is not to store your belongings here, it will cause you way more hassle and stress than renting a storage space needs to. There are many other great options in the area. Plus that one day you may need to access your belongings urgently... You may be locked out and have to deal with an incompetent new hire while the manager is Absent AGAIN! read more

My family has been using this storage space for years (prior to Extra Space taking over). With recent management changes we have been very disappointed with recent experiences. There seems to be a lack of communication and things not properly notated, which results in no resolution. Due to this issues we decided to move our stuff out of the unit. We had a billing date in the middle of each month, so week before the next bill was due we have notification and asked that our account be prorated for the days we would be using the unit (1 week). Not only was this completely ignore they charged us the full amount and refused to do anything about it. It's really disappointing to not be able to TRUST a company with your person items and money. I give three stars because it fulfilled my expectations for a storage facility, but could do with some minor upgrades. I believe the fourth star is for perfect and the fifth star is for above and beyond work that is near impossible to achieve in self storage service. Overall, I was impressed with this storage facility and am really happy I found it. I go to my unit 1-3 times per month and feel the price of ~$60 per month for a 5x5x10 unit is fine. Pros: -A keypad entry/exit with individualized codes for each person. -Clean, well-kept facility. -Seems pretty busy with other renters (I see businesses retrieving equipment and normal people grabbing bikes and other stuff). It's always good to see that the other renters frequent the place instead of only dropping their stuff and leaving it there for years. Pro with a con: My 5x5 storage locker had a great price online, but I was surprised when I got to actually sign up and was told I had to also by mandatory insurance for a monthly cost of $12. Just fyi on that, it only covers $2000 (fire, flood, and earthquake) so don't store anything truly expensive! I'm only storing baby items between kids, holiday decorations, and out-of-season clothes. I mean, the coverage is good but mandatory sucks. Cons: -I wish the door leading to the hallway holding the storage lockers had a stay-open feature; storage facilities are notoriously creepy especially for women. -Also, it would be awesome if they could implement panic or injury buttons or phones around the property since you have no way to alert anyone of any unfortunate circumstances unless you have your own phone, and due to all the metal and thick walls, the service is spotty or non-existent. read more

Moved in just over 4 months ago. Good interaction with a helpful associate getting all the paperwork organized. 4 months later, the price increased by about 15-20%! I could not believe that they would raise my rental so quickly..and expect this will be a 4 more re-occuring theme....so I immediately canceled my storage contract. No calls or concerns regarding the cancellation, just an email confirming I would be moving out. I moved out and when advising front desk, they asked why I moved out (ie, not 30 days ago, but with a trailer in their driveway exiting). I told them I was not interested in doing business with a company that raised the rates after 4 months. I was advised that was a promotional rate and therefore the increase in rent. So, to make matters worse, they knew this when I joined 4 months ago and didn't set my expectation so I could consider whether I wanted to move in. While this may be considered a 'Promotion' to them, it was rolled out as a Bait and Switch. They should have told me this upfront. Maybe I would have gotten a smaller unit, maybe I would have accepted it then, but without being told up front via a discussion, this was an unethical bait and switch. The unit I am paying for is incredibly less than than what I am paying in rent. Yes, I have been late with payments, but definitely not many times and never more than a two or three days. There is no reason for a such a large difference other than to take ADVANTAGE of a person and their situation. Have never used a storage facility before, so didn't know what to expect. When you call, it takes you to a call desk that seems to service all the various facilities. When you confirm your order the local storage center calls you. Juan called within 5 min --amazing! We met that afternoon for a tour of my storage unit and facility. Rates were very competitive with first month half off. My only complaint was that there was no AC or ventilation inside the facility. It was very uncomfortable on a hot day when we started to move. Also be prepared for a lot of exercise if your unit is on the 2nd floor. Definitely ask for Juan! read more

In the 2 years I was at this facility, I NEVER once saw a human being in the hallway where my was door was located. The only way anyone saw what was put in my storage unit, was via video camera. Inside job! Now before you go thinking this is just an upset customer, feel free to read the reviews from OTHER CUSTOMERS who had stuff stolen from their unit and accuse the management of an inside job. When I saw my stuff had been stolen, I went to the front office. CAN YOU BELIEVE the employee (Karissa) told me that there at been other break-ins near my unit. When I asked why I hadn't been contacted earlier so I could see if any of my stuff had been taken, she shrugged her shoulders. Shady. My lock was an expensive and bulky Masterlock. No damage to lock or door. It had been carefully picked and I'm sure the thief had all the time in the world. When I asked if they have video camera surveillance to look at, she told me she needed to know the exact day and time the theft occurred to review any footage. Shady. IT GETS WORSE... she then told me NOT to bother calling the police! She said they won't come here, they are too busy. You need to drive over to them. Super shady. I called Placentia PD and they came in 20 minutes. The police officer confirmed that he knew other officers had been to this storage facility "numerous times". The officer also reviewed my perfectly working and undamaged lock and saw the undamaged door and was at a loss for words as to how the theft could happen. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a business. There are thefts occurring at this facility and customers are not being notified. Worse yet, the thefts appear to happening under very suspicious circumstances. You are SERIOUSLY risking your property by brining it here. Look at other reviews about thefts, un-professionalism, and constant price hikes. Why go here when you have many other options to store your stuff? DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR... Very shady business practices. We dealt with Robert at the Placentia location. He took us to see our unit and we a greed to space. We get back to the office and we start the transaction to rent the space. At no time during reservation or speaking to agent over the phone did anyone mention anything about insurance. Robert gives us our total of 66 plus 14 for insurance. We ask him why we are being charged for insurance and said it's a mandatory charge. We walk out and call a few other storage places and were told that they don't have mandatory insurance for their spaces and if they did that our home owners or renters insurance would cover that and we wouldn't need to pay. We walk back in and ask Robert about the home owners insurance and he still said that his 14 dollars was a mandatory fee and there was no way around it. Then he back tracked and said that they would waive the insurance if we had our policy number for our home owners insurance. We thanked him for his time and left. Feels like they get some sort of commission on their insurance sales. Very bad business practice. Won't be renting from them.
