So what you have to do is look at the unit. Run to the parking lot and then call them over the phone so it's technically over the phone to lock in the rate. What they're trying to do is have you pay for a unit blindly first. They'll offer you "a refund" if you don't like the unit. What have we allowed corporations to do? Dear Lord. Time to move on…read more.. After 3 years, it's time to find a new storage facility. I needed to upgrade to a larger unit and considered moving to a new one here, but also shopped around. After shopping around, it was pretty clear to me there were several better options in the area. The biggest decision to leaving was how rundown and gross everything was starting to look. The floors inside the building I was in are torn up and large wood chips kept splintering up. It's also just very dirty. Inside the facility, around it, and in the actual room. When moving out, I was shocked how much dust, weird debris, termite droppings, and overall filth covered my stuff. On top of that, there was a leak in our unit, which damaged a table and several boxes. When I told them about it, the lady said "oh yeah- we have a guy to help with that but he hasn't been showing up." That was it. The guy just didn't show up so everyone has to deal with leaks. She said she has a list of units that need to be repaired, so it seems to be an issue here. The place was not nearly this bad when I moved in three years ago - it's like nothing has been done to it in the last three years. When I told them that I was moving out, there were no questions or any type of service recovery of any kind. Just "OK have a good one". I asked to get some paperwork showing that the account had been closed out I was told no, but I would get an email. That email never showed up. I'm glad I decided to make the move- the overall disrepair of the place made the decision, but then discovering the leak and seeing their response really helped me feel good about it. I found a much better place - Even though moving storage can be a pain, it was totally worth it.

The grounds are kept up very nicely, and the location is in a nice quiet suburb neighborhood in the Anaheim Hills. The property is gated with staff always available during business hours. I rented one of the smallest units since all of the 5x 10's were all occupied or rented out. Despite the size, the unit had a high ceiling, so I was able to stack several large bins, golf equipment, and house-ware items. I had a temperature controlled unit, so nothing suffered from the heat as it tends to get warm in the hills (90 degrees plus in the summer). The staff is very friendly and always onsite to offer supplies and help when needed. If I ever needed another unit to rent, Madison Squares would be my first choice!

The last time I spoke with them, they told me they would not refund that money and they called it a secured lease, which it is definitely not. It's insurance for the unit. Renter beware!
