Everything started off good. Made an appointment. Got in quickly. Didn't have my first, or second choice of color, so I just went with red. I was told they have lots of colors in gel. Well not everyone wants gel, either for pedicures or manicures. Pedicure was actually really nice. I got the peppermint. No massage, not sure if that's included, but no worries. But I sat there waiting and waiting after we finish up but my gal had started on someone's fingernails. I finally said that I was ready to go and was told to wait to couple minutes. (more!) Then she came over and looked at my shoes. I asked if they had the (disposable) flip-flops and I got a glare! Twice! Then she went to a closet and came back with plastic wrap and wrapped my freshly painted toes in plastic wrap!!! I'm sorry... PARKING & LOCATION // Unexpectedly, there is street parking on or near 45th. I recommend giving yourself an extra 5-10 minutes or so to find parking and walk. I personally walked to this location since I was already nearby but I actually walked past it first. Pay attention to the signs or you might miss it! SERVICE // My friend and I made appointments through their website the night before. Since they have more than one nail technician, you can do them both at the same time. I decided to get a basic manicure ($20) and the website said it would take about 30 minutes. It ended up being more around 15-20 minutes. They removed my polish, fixed my cuticles, buffed/shaped my nails, and painted them. They had me dry my nails with their fans but it was a little awkward because they just got up and went to another customer when they finished paining my nails but never told me when my nail drying time was officially over. OVERALL // 4 stars It was a very quick service experience. I didn't really feel like it ended in a clear manner but I don't have complaints. I recommend! read more

I'm really impressed by the customer service and quality of work! Finally came here recently after my friend had recommended them. I got gel nails with a chrome finish. The nail technician was really communicative and warned me against using the chrome finish with my short and somewhat weak nails - she said there have been some cases where it breaks off in less than a week for people with similar nails as me. I really appreciated how honest she was, and that she answered all of my questions as I decided whether to go another route. She could've just done my nails without warning, but she clearly wanted to make sure I made an educated decision. Great customer service. Bonus points, the chrome actually stayed on for two weeks, and counting! I'm really pleased with how sturdy these turned out. read more

I'm an older guy and this is the first time I had a pedicure. I went because a couple weeks previous, I had an annual check-up with my dermatologist. While there, I asked about toe fungus because my toes itched. She told me I don't have any fungus, I just have nails which had grown too thick and that caused the skin below to overgrow, making the nails impossible to cut. She advised me to lightly file the nails thinner, something I wasn't comfortable doing myself. So I called one nail salon that had no clue how to thin down nails. The second one told me that I need to see a foot doctor with specialized equipment. And the third nail salon I called, Excellent Nails & Spa, said they could do it so I made an appointment. Lucy was my pedicurist. To be honest, I was nervous because the skin below the nails was overgrown and I was worried she'd cut me. But she seemed to really know what she was doing and the salon appeared to be very sanitary. Lucy had a special drill-like tool that she ran across the nails to thin them down after soaking my feet. Then she used clippers and other tools to cut the nails and remove excess (or dead?) skin from below the nails. And then she treated my feet with warm moisturizer (or oil) and warm stones. It took her a half hour and she only charged me $35 + tip. I was so pleased afterwards! I would never have been able to do what she did on my own. read more

I had a wonderful experience here! I got my first ever gel manicure at a different place a week prior to coming to Excellent nails. It was not a good experience and my nails looked wrecked. The gel polish was uneven and had started to lift. I was hesitant to try gel again but I'm so glad I did. The guy who did my nails (I unfortunately didn't catch his name but he's a younger Asian man, I think maybe his name was Thao or Howe?) was outstanding! Very nice to chat with and he did excellent work. I have terrible cuticles that grow like crazy and he handled them like a pro. No discomfort or bleeding at all. I request for a gel pedicure and was handed a pamphlet and is selected the $45 option (they had other options for pedicures, depending on the type of service you want). Was a very basic pedicure. I did not receive the square nail shape they requested, but whatever (I ended up doing it at home). Once I was finished, I walked up to the front desk and is informed that my total is $60. I was confused since I received a different quote before I called and during the service which I clearly pointed out the price difference.. I asked why it was $60 instead of the $45. I was told it was because I got a pedicure. I do not wanna go back-and-forth so I Venmo'd the lady and was told "Where is the tip?" I told her I did not want to tip since there was a jump from the original price to now. I still venmod an additional $5. I hope this place improves in the communication towards there clients and be transparent about what they are charging. or maybe she just targeted me because I am out of town. read more

Jenny always does such an amazing job, her attention to detail and care is super appreciated. My usual is dip with occasional added tip. After being recommended to try this salon, I am in love. I made a Saturday appointment which is not too hard to get but definitely necessary since this place is tiny and always busy. My nails were tended to perfectly. The other salon only swapped polish but this place took care to tend to my cuticles and perfectly shape my nails. Additionally, the wonderful woman doing my nails provided on point color recommendations when I couldnt make up my mind. This place may be farther from my house but it is worth the drive. Got a pedicure here, and it was a fun experience to sit on the massage chairs and get a mechanical massage over all my back and shoulders as my feet were being pampered. I made the mistake of not wearing loose pants so the massage and oils that they put on the leg only went up to how high I could pull up my jeans to about mid calf. While scraping away at the skin around my toe the girl cut into the skin too deep and my toe started bleeding pretty annoyingly, but they had this solution that got the blood to congeal and the cut to stop bleeding so profusely. A bit traumatic but nothing too bad, don't know if I'll want to get a pedicure again anytime soon though. I picked out a super bright blue color and it was a very nice color on my toes. I usually choose neutrals but this time I went bold and I'm glad that I did because a neutral color definitely would not have looked half as good. The bleeding turned me off this place but my friends who all got manicures ended up with beautiful fingers so I would come again for that! read more

The owner's wife had the audacity to send me this message through Yelp last night close to midnight (I screenshot the message in case she tries to deny it): "Hey. Don't play dirty to my business. You came in to my shop and we did your pedi just like every customer and u go on yelp and gave us 1 stars and also u go to ur bank and canceled ur transaction and now we have to paid back for the bank . Why u have to embarrass ur self like that u should do ur own pedi don't go to any nails shop . They know ur face now . If u ever go to any nail shop . Something doesn't look good to u tell them fix , don't go on yelp and the bank and tell all this liar u so sad." Here is my response: This only proves that this business is shady. I made it very clear I was displeased with the service and when asked if everything was okay, I said no. I walked out and immediately scheduled an appointment elsewhere to fix the toddler work that this salon calls a pedicure (there was a waiting area full of clients and if I'm unhappy with so many parts of the experience, why would I ask them to redo it?). They should have offered that and when I declined they should have offered to not charge me. My credit offers a service where if I'm unhappy with something, they take care of it (I pay $450 a year for this card). It's very sad that this is the response from a business owner. Instead of taking responsibility for clearly overbooking clients (regularly, it seems), this salon chose to blame the customer. *** A first timer at this salon, I made an appointment and came in on time. When I came in, the owner told me it would be another 20 minutes because other customers were late. I sat down for my pedi 28 minutes past my appointment. As soon as I sat down, he kept checking the clock and the seats full of waiting customers. He literally rushed through the scrub as if he was competing in a race, max 30 seconds on each leg. When it came time for polish application, I was stunned because he applied polish like a true amateur. At the end, I also noticed that some nails were crooked and the polish wasn't applied all the way down to the cuticle, making it look like I already had grow out. After he was done, he said if I want to wear the sandals I came in with, I'd need to wait 20 mins to fully dry my toes, so I did (note: the pedi took 22 mins total). I voiced concerns about the polish smearing if I put my sandals on, but they confirmed my nails were fully dried (never touched them, just applied the spray). Of course, as soon as I got home, the toes in the sandals were completely ruined. A waste of TIME and MONEY. Do not go! I am so pissed - something that's supposed to be relaxing left me more stressed than ever, wasting money/time, and now I have to pay to have them redone!! read more

Johnny usually does my gel/dip manicures and he always does a great job (Jenny, Hao and the rest of the team are all awesome as well). Ok, this is a more male-specific review. If you are a man who likes to get mani's and pedi's this place is for you! I recommend the basic full mani-pedi treatment here as they do hot stone and wax as part of it. I get the shiny buff treatment with no polish and it's perfect every time. They are so helpful to ask what you want, shape and everything. I appreciate them here so very much. As a man, gay or straight, I find that most places give you a little less of the full treatment than our lovely woman counterparts. This is no big complaint, Nail Spas are historically more of a feminine gender activity. But if you're like me I LOVE to pamper dem paws and tootsies. At Excellent Nails and Spa not only do they treat you as just important they even have a few male manicurists if that makes you feel more comfortable. As a gay man, it doesn't matter to me but I do appreciate getting a high-quality product no matter my gender identity. I don't even live in Seattle and I go every time I'm up from Portland as I haven't found any place that gives me quite as much of the perfect experience as this place. Tip: call ahead in the morning to book especially if there are two of you. They always make an effort to seat you together. If it's just you the wait isn't typically too long. read more
