My version of BUILD YOUR OWN BOWL
    Nicole N.

Union square has some good dining options and I will say it was a bit hard to find evergreens as a first time visitor. I built my own warm bowl and I did feel like the vegetables were a bit cold but I feel like that's what I should have expected. Customizations are great for this place, service was fast and super busy during lunch time but they were definitely on top of their mobile orders. There is a lot of seating near the place and also just within the building. Great place for a work lunch in downtown.

This is by far the best Evergreens location I've been to in Seattle. The portions are generous, the online order fulfillment is accurate, and the location is convenient. Located inside of a business/shop pavilion, this location boasts ample seating and a calm, quiet atmosphere. It's a quick and easy option for lunch, and I'm always left with more than enough food for later. I just wish the hours here were more flexible - there's only one Evergreens that I know of that's open past 3, and it's located less conveniently in SLU with only window pickup.

    Seasonal: "Thankful Bowl"

Evergreens Salad has a bunch of locations now. This one is at the One Union Square building at 6th & University in downtown. There's a Two Union Square side too on 6th & Union, don't go to that side. This Evergreens is by Mod Pizza, so just look for that. It's a smaller version of most of the other Evergreens spots, this is mall food court version, walk up to the counter and order. It's very busy at lunch time so good luck at timing it just right. Line can go down the hallway. I decided to get one of their seasonal bowls to try and got the "Thankful Bowl", it was pretty darn good and I enjoyed it very much. It consisted of mixed greens, roasted hubbard squash, celery(yuck, I hate celery so I omitted that), apples, wild rice, turkey, all with a cranberry vinaigrette. It was a good mix of items, quite tasty and felt light in the tummy to me. Staff there are pretty friendly, work hard to get your order all set up and process you down the line to the cashier (stop staring at your phone and pay attention). Prices are pretty much the same as always, about $10 or so for a good sized bowl of salad. I don't think they ever brought back their loyalty program, which is a bummer and one of the reasons I took a long break from Evergreens, how do you not have a loyalty program anymore to the downtown working crowd, Grrrrrr!!!! They may have something online I don't know about since I just started to go back to Evergreens recently. Anyways, it's a good lunch option if you work nearby or in the building.

Just when you think your Evergreens addiction is in control another location opens a block away from your office! I know I always rate Evergreens Salad five stars, but doesn't this location being so close to where I work count for something extra? Methinksso! This Evergreens Salad is located in the One Union Square office building, which, as mentioned, is super close to my office building. No more trekking to the Westlake area for me. Evergreens just got even more convenient. (Plus, if you don't already have the app downloaded, you should. It links your card to the app, so you literally just have to pull up your app on your phone and it'll scan the bar code, making check out easy without carrying your wallet. After 10 salads you a free one.) There's seating right by Evergreens, in addition to the lobby seating throughout the main level of One Union Square. And staff is super friendly here! Here, I found a new favorite. Move over, Spicy & Kale Caesar. In a recent visit to Evergreens the manager of this location ended up being the one helping me go down the order line, and after asking him about the Super Bowl, he mentioned it was his favorite bowl. Therefore, I decided to try a new salad, and am glad I did because the Super Bowl really is my new favorite! In addition to greens, there's quinoa, parmesan, turkey, pesto, crushed almonds and grape tomatoes. Of course, you can customize any of the salads; hence, the appeal of Evergreens. So I always add bacon and egg for some extra protein. I recommend trying the Super Bowl, as all of the ingredients really come together and complement one another. Don't forget the Macrina bread! Super happy to have Evergreens walking distance to where I am most weekdays. I don't mind "forgetting" my lunch when I have Evergreens to get me through the work day.

The best salad bar I've tried. Hands down try if your looking for a healthy food option you won't regret it! All ingredients are fresh and delicious. They have a great selection of toppings that you customize as well.

Yalla is a walk up window, and there are just a couple of benches right outside where you can eat, and according to other reviews you can also go to Montana Bar next door with your food. The menu is posted in a couple places right next to the ordering window, and it's pretty easy to parse. Almost everything there is what I'd consider a "portable food", meaning something you don't need a plate, fork, and knife to eat, which makes sense given that it's not a sit down restaurant. They have veggie saj, meaty saj, mezze, a few sides, and a dessert. I really like their concise menu. We tried the baba ghanoush ($9.5), which comes with saj on the side, a batinjan and labneh saj wrap ($12), and a halloumi grilled cheese (halloumi grilled inside saj, $13). As you can tell, the saj underpins everything at Yalla, and their saj is excellent. Warm, soft, flaky, and tearable, it is perfect for both dipping and wrapping and grilling. The batinjan and labneh wrap is bursting (literally) with tender grilled eggplant, a rich sauce, and tangy, creamy labneh. It is truly one of the most delicious eggplant dishes I've ever had. The halloumi grilled cheese definitely hits the spot, and is more filling than you think by looking at it. Baba ghanoush is so smooth and flavorful, and I love the pomegranate seeds on top! The folks who work there are super nice, very friendly, and food comes out quickly. Prices are very reasonable, and I will definitely be back to try some of their meaty saj! This place is going into my regular rotation, for sure.

This…read morewas exciting to me as I enjoy food from the Middle Eastern part of the world, and the entrees do look very enticing! We went on a Saturday around 2pm and it wasn't too busy at the takeout window. The restaurant is only takeout - there are benches right next to the takeout window, but there are only enough spots for 8 - 12 people (2-3 people per bench). The only other seating is at the nearby street seating offered by the neighboring bars, which I can see being restricted during peak hours. Parking can be very difficult if you plan on driving, there is only street side parking that is usually full, and nearby paid parking in lots. Service is fast, after we got our order, we only waited 5-8 minutes for our food. We got their recommended Soujouk (Beef) and Cheese Wrap for $16. The wrap is long, I would say about 13 - 14 inches long, and I can definitely seeing most people getting full after enjoying one of these. The flavors are nice and you can taste the spices from the sausage - I could taste cinnamon front and center with other earthy spices lingering in an aftertaste. The wrap is very decadent, the cheese is hearty and indulgent and that with the spiced sausage and textural difference with the cucumbers is pleasing. Do note with how indulgent this wrap is, you will accumulate a ton of oil in your wrapper as you enjoy it - a nap afterwards is in your future if you eat a whole wrap! I think that Yalla Seattle is a good stop to try these cuisines in a casual manner and the price is reasonable. There are some other items on the menu that kept my attention and I would totally revisit to try the other items offered by this restaurant.

The food was served very quickly. The rolls were really delicious. Though it may look small, but the portion is actually good. One roll may be enough. I placed my order through Yelp, which redirects customers to DoorDash for fulfillment. Unfortunately, there was no option to specify the spice level for the paneer masala side dish, despite the restaurant description highlighting customizable spice levels as part of its offering. Because I have health-related dietary concerns, I called the restaurant immediately after placing the order to request a mild spice level. The staff member who answered was initially unable to locate my order, even after I spelled out the name multiple times, which significantly delayed the process. My husband later called and was able to get someone to find the order, but when I called back again to confirm the mild spice request, I was told it was too late to make any changes. I also had an earlier issue when I accidentally went to the wrong location and called for assistance. Rather than providing the Bellevue location's direct number or helping redirect me, I was placed on hold multiple times, which added to the inconvenience. While the food itself was excellent, the customer service and ordering experience were disappointing. Since the Yelp/ DoorDash ordering flow does not allow customers to specify spice preferences for certain items, I expected more flexibility and consideration when I called immediately after placing the order with a reasonable health-related request.

Oh, and a vodka lemonade - you can get cocktails delivered via DoorDash! Everything was super good, especially the chili cheese dog. They were really generous with the chili (a full cup of it) and it was delicious. The lemonade is made from scratch and I really enjoyed that, as well - not too sweet. When we did takeout, we each got a sandwich, and we also got a Chicago dog, "chum bucket" w/ tots, and a handful of cocktails. I'd had kind of a bad week and was basically like, I don't even care, let's just get whatever we want even if it's an insane amount of stuff, haha. They do single serving craft cocktails for takeout in little cans, which is pretty cool. And they were SO GOOD (all with very clever nautical-themed names). I think our favorite was the "No Ship Sherlock" seasonal Moscow mule. The Chicago dog was amazing - based on this and my previous chili cheese dog, I can say without hesitation that their hotdogs are 100% 10/10. The "chum bucket" tots were also really good, and again came with a very generous full cup of chili. I hate to say it because everything else was so good, but the sandwiches were pretty disappointing for the price, we both thought. I had a tuna sandwich and my bf had a veggie sandwich. They used fresh, quality ingredients, but both sandwiches were kind of bland, and a lot smaller than we were expecting for $14 apiece. That's the only reason I dropped a star, but aside from that, they are 5 star all the way. So, we would not revisit the sandwiches, but hotdogs and cocktails HELL YES YES YES!! Anything involving the chili is also highly recommended. And although I didn't really go into detail about it, chicken tenders were good, too (there were more in there than what the photo shows) - crispy and well-seasoned, and more than what I was expecting.
