For food alone, Eureka! Is a great place for your standard fair of artisanal burgers. Their cowboy burger satisfies the need for any barbecue cravings with a well cooked burger, butter toasted bun with shoestring onions and caramelized bacon. For the more adventurous, they have a short-rib kimchi burger that takes some inspiration from Korean food, or the bison burger for the meatier, leaner meat option. In my opinion, their "high-end" burgers have disappointed in the past so I would stray towards the standard fare. Their bone marrow burger was a disappointment with no real accents that brought the burger to the menu in the first place though I have yet to try the dry aged burger, I'm dubious to order the top price menu item given it's predecessors track record. The beer selection is large with plenty of variety from local breweries and the standard fare. With a rotating tap, there's always something new to enjoy. The service was attentive and pleasant with an excited waitress. I was a little disappointed in how the communication failed for the burger as we had some people in our party that do not eat pork, they chose to have their bacon excluded from their burger and upon closer inspection, the bits of bacon were still present. Along with the miscommunication, it felt a little slow on the kitchen side with a relatively long wait. It was more noticeable considering other parties were also concerned about their wait time. I certainly wouldn't expect for the food to take more than 45 minutes to get to the table for a burger but the Friday dinner rush may have caused some issues. For the sides, I know that the truffle cheese fries and Mac cheese balls were all the rage but I was surprisingly disappointed. The Mac and cheese balls were a little on the soggy side with no strong cheese flavors and the truffle fries could have passed as extra fancy fries. The cheese sauce was bland and I honestly wouldn't recommend those two options to anyone. To summarize, a burger with fries is the way to go if you're looking for something a little more than fast food. Nothing surprising, nothing special, but a place to drink some fun beers and have a decent burger. read more

We've been here at least 4 times and always had good food. But this time we came for dinner around 7 pm on a friday and it was packed. We put our name in..waited for maybe 10 minutes which was fine.. but didn't understand why the wait as there were at least 3 tables that were vacant. But we were fine with waiting. Once seated.. we placed our order immediately as we knew what we wanted. I always get the Mac and Cheese balls.. and this time ordered a side of coleslaw. Hubby got the Black and Bleu burger and an Ale. After 15 or so minutes.. some one quickly swung by our table and dropped off my mac and cheese balls.. but no plates, no silverware, no napkins, no drinks. After 5 more minutes, our server came with our drinks and started to walk away. I asked for silverware and plates.. and she came back with just silverware. The M&C balls were ok.. a little chewy.. either over-fried or stale. After 10 min, they brought my hubby's burger and my coleslaw. The cole slaw was horribly DRY and UNDERDRESSED. it barely had any dressing in it. Hubby's bottom burger bun was not soft, and tough. The server never came back to the table to ask how everything was. I think she was waiting tables outside and forgot about us inside. She came back after we were done with our check. We didnt say anything.. i choked down my dry coleslaw and hubby washed down his stale bun with his beer. Had she come back to our table to check on us..i would have asked for some dressing or something to pour over my cabbage and onion slaw. I really hope this was just because they were busy.. but the amount of servers wandering around the place..it wasn't because they looked understaffed. Dined here about a month ago. We like the Claremont location, where the service and food is always the best! Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the staff. We sat for maybe 15 minutes while the employees walked around aimlessly. We tried so many times to get someone's attention. There were many girls walking around and no one even looked our direction. The 3 tables in front of us had been checked on 3 or 4 times while we sat, ignored. The poor manager was running around doing everything, cleaning tables running food, etc. while the others just walked around the restaurant talking. Once a server noticed we'd been sitting she quickly took our order and checked back on us frequently. However, she was the only one, it had appeared, that was taking care of all the tables in the restaurant. Food was worth it. Food is always good. Dined in several times, service is always okay, most staff is friendly, but sometimes servers rush the order and I get the feeling something will come out wrong as a result. Almost every time I've had that feeling I've been right (even when I try to clarify or reduce the rush). Pet peeve is when my food is wrong and by the time it comes back out my family is finished eating...by that time I'm over it so pack mine up to go (which I don't eat), so I would rather just cancel my order completely. Unfortunately this exact scenario has happened multiple times. That's just me being honest and transparent, but not why I'm writing this. You see 4 stars despite the detail mentioned above because I ordered online for pick up on my way home the other night and was pleasantly surprised with the packaging of the to go order and how well the food held up in it. Food was still warm when I got it home and burgers weren't soggy. Sweet potato fries were missing the honey like they would have had if I dined in, but since I was home I drizzled my own from the pantry. Firecracker sauce is yummy and usually ask for extra to eat with whatever else I order even if it doesn't come on that specific item. The process of ordering online was pretty good, the menu was slightly off and no options to specify details like extra of something or omitting something if needed (example, when you choose side salad for choice of entree side no option to select dressing or free text field to specify as a note...I asked when I picked up and the manager said "there's dressing in there but I don't know what kind because I didn't package it". I laughed a little but didn't care enough to have them open it all up to check or even go grab a side of something to toss in). Don't feel intimidated if you don't know what type of brew to order. The menu is a lil cray. But That's what servers are for :) I highly recommend the Nut Brown IPA. Everything I've had here has been good. Loved the bone marrow burger. Super rich and fatty from the bone marrow and amazing, but it's a bit pricey at $16.50. The fig burger is also tasty, love that there's bacon that gives it the salt and the figs that give it a sweetness. I'm not (yet) a huge fan of goat cheese so I preferred the bone marrow. Fries are good. I had the soup of the day which was potato chowder. It came with actual chunks of potato and was topped with some melted cheddar and crisp bacon bits and scallions. I enjoyed it. The watermelon salad was really refreshing and tasty. I loved the balsamic glaze and light lemon vinegarette drizzled on top of the arugula and kale as well as the walnuts and cool watermelon chunks that made it a great summery plate. Service was great, I'll definitely be back but probably before 6pm so I can catch their "hoppy" hour. read more

Came here because we were running errands in the city of Redlands and we like to try new places. Walked in and was pleasantly surprised with a very nice hamburguer joint. Well decorated and great ambiance. We proceeded to check out the menu and did noticed that the prices were a little high but we brushed it aside thinking that the food would make it worthy. My husband ordered the Bone Marrow burger at $17.00. He upgraded from fries to coleslaw for an extra $2.00. The hamburger waw good but nothing special and definitely not worth the $17.00. The coleslaw was great. Finely shredded cabbage with green onions and peanuts that added a nice crunch to the slaw. I ordered the Fig Jam hamburger. It was tasty and I actually enjoyed it. I have to add that at the time I was literally starving so I am not sure if that affwcted the way it tasted to me. Hubby felt the same way about my hamburger as he felt about his. They fries were a little dry, nothing to brag about and the ice tea was watery. All in all I believe the food is good but not great and definitely not worth the price. I asked for ranch and probably didn't get ranch but I did get a nice spicy dressing that was the best thing I had there! Also, the seating is super awkward, talk about getting close with your neighbors if you come in a party of two! First things first - they've got Pliny the Elder on tap! But it runs out fast. We came on a Tuesday afternoon and it was all gone the next afternoon. You can also ask for a tasting of anything on tap before committing to a pint. Their bottled beer list is pretty excellent. 5+ stars for their bar staff (thanks, Richie!) and beer selection. The sweet potato fries are as tasty as everyone says. The burgers are good - not the best I've had but definitely on the good list. The bison burger was a little wet but maybe that's how they compensate for the leanness of the meat? I also had the fig marmalade burger which I really enjoyed. I also had a few hours' worth of beers by that time so my taste buds would have liked anything sweet and savory. With that question mark, I'd say 3.5 stars for their food. So here's the thing: I went to the Claremont Eureka! burger and had a terrible experience there. I was with the bf last night and asked him if he wanted to go to the Redlands location. Despite being turned off by the franchise, I was still curious to try the food. So he said he wanted to check it out and we headed there last night for dinner. The place is small but luckily for me and the bf we were taken to a table right away. Looking at the menu, everything sounds amazing. We went ahead with the truffle fries for an appetizer, which were pretty tasty to me. I like my fries a little crispy but the bf didn't so I finished that up. FYI, truffle oil is used on the fries. I think if they added garlic to it, it would taste even better but that's just my suggestion. When it came to the burgers, I got the Jalepeno, egg, and bacon burger, which was pretty freaking awesome! I had the Hanger 24 orange wheat with that burger, which complemented each other nicely. The bf tried the bison burger, which tasted like a regular beef patty to him but it had the jalapeno jam on it, which gave the burger a sweet but spicy taste. It was ok, wasn't a memorable burger for us. The place was kind of busy so it did take a little while to get our bill but the service didn't suck at this one like it did at the Claremont location. I am curious to try the fig marmalade burger but is it weird that I don't really find myself going here again unless another one of my friends wanted to go? I mean, for me, it's out of the way and you kind of have to plan strategically to come here during a time where it isn't too busy. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a good place to stop for food/drink off the 10. Great burgers and beer, and the best onion rings around. Burgers: Cooked to perfection and very tasty. Both AC and I ordered our burgers medium-rare and they came out pink and juicy. I had the Pearl Street Blues Burger with blue cheese, mushrooms, and grilled onions. AC had the Cowboy Burger with cheddar, shoestring onions rings, bacon, and BBQ sauce. Both were excellent, but the burgers were good enough that you could probably have an Original Burger and be very satisfied. Panko crusted onion rings: Awesome! I substituted my fries for the onion rings. The onion rings were huge, with a beautiful golden tone. The panko crusting was very light and the onions themselves were nice and thick. Rather than just tasting fried batter as you do at most places, you could actually taste the sweet, juicy onion inside. One of my best onion ring experiences. Fries: AC's burger came with seasoned, skinny fries. She thought they were a little over-seasoned, but I thought they were seasoned nicely. They weren't as crunchy (crispy?) as I would've liked, but I thought they were very tasty. Beer: What a great beer list. They have everything from local Redlands brews to CA, OR, and CO craft-brews, to your typical imports and domestics. It's not the kind of place with a multi-page beer list. It's definitely quality over quantity including three rotating drafts. I opted for the Craft Sampler - three 6.25 oz. pours of anything they have on tap. You can also get 2 oz. pours if you just want a couple sips of something. I tried the Hangar 24 Orange Wheat, Hangar 24 Alt, and a rotating Saison. I'm more of a wheat beer kind of guy, but the Alt was very good, and the Saison was the most floral beer I've ever had - worth a try to see how different beers can be. Value: With great burgers at $8-9 (including fries; substitute onion rings for an additional $1.25) and beers at $5-6, Eureka is a fantastic value. You'd surely pay 10-20% more for something similar in LA or OC. Atmosphere: AC and I came for an early dinner on a warm spring evening and chose to sit outside. While the interior of the restaurant has a warm, restaurant/bar feel with good lighting while also having dark woods, booths, and an L-shaped bar. The seating outside is on orange chairs with metal tables with a funky Euro feel to it. The outside patio looks onto the parking lot. The big downer was that there were lots of bugs outside and an occasional funky smell. I'd definitely eat inside next time. Service: Friendly service from our waitress Taylor. When she brought out my beer sampler, the bartender/beer-mollier guy came with her to tell me about the beers and suggest an appropriate order for trying them (like wine beers are generally tried from the lightest to the heaviest). Ambience 5/5: has a gastropub feel to it with cement floors and exposed metal vents. The burlap lights adds warmth and the whole place is cozy. Food: Riblets 5/5: fall off the bone tender. Buffalo chipotle sauce but the meat is slightly sweet. Shishito peppers 4/5: not too spicy and has good charbroiled flavor. Slight tangy flavor Nachos 5/5: loaded with toppings. Has a sauce that's slight sweet. Mango habanero? Fig burger 5/5: fig, bacon, arugula. Nice balance of sweet and savory. Bone marrow burger 3.5/5: fatty and rich but lacking flavor. Could use more bone marrow. Pork lemongrass sandwich 3/5: shredded pork with pickled veggies. Too much bun. Service 4/5: all smiles here. I have loved their food for years. Their burgers are absolutely fantastic. A recent favorite of mine is the bone marrow burger. Their beer selection is great and I love the rotating taps. We took our kids and were blown away by how kid friendly they were. They bring out a snack for the kids to hold them over while they wait. Once was carrots and grapes (which came out sliced in half which is such a great gesture for those with toddlers) and the next was watermelon and carrots.
