It was my first time here with a coworker and I was trying to decide between the grilled cheese and tuna melt for lunch, and I decided on the latter at my coworker's suggestion. Unfortunately the tuna melt was not toasted properly so the cheese wasn't melted, and it had too much Dijon mustard. I never came here before the remodel but it is nice and open space. There's one big tv playing sports with plenty of seating inside and some seating outside with heat lamps. They have a good selection of sandwiches that are already customized. I'm not sure if you can create your own. They also have salads and pastas like lasagna, spaghetti with meatballs. I had the mission bay sandwich for 12.75 that comes with a tiny cup of pasta or potato salad. The sandwhich was a good size with turkey, bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, peppercinis on dutch crunch. Esposto's is clearly meant to cater to the working folks in this area. It's only open from mid-morning until mid-afternoons during the weekdays and is closed on weekends. If I didn't start working next door to this place, I know I wouldn't have gone out of my way to travel to Mission Bay to eat here. That's not a bad thing, that's just a fact. That said, in every instance I come to the office, this Esposto's is second to none in terms of convenience. It's literally next door to where I work. Its convenience is only matched by the Starbucks next door, which is already on the corner of nearly every other city block in the known universe so it doesn't count. As far as food goes, I've only gotten one thing in the two times I've eaten here - the Mission Bay Sandwich, aptly named after the neighborhood this Esposto's is based in. I don't like thinking too hard about the food I order and the Mission Bay was at the top of the sandwich menu so clearly, Esposto's wanted it to grab my attention. The sandwich itself was hefty and loaded with cold cuts, vegetables, and avocados. It's pretty messy and almost comparable to an Ike's sandwich, if a lot less gimmicky and extra than a lot of Ike's sandwiches. Beware - this sandwich will give you strong onion breath if you're not careful and remove said onions. I like onions though and I wear a mask at work so the only one suffering through my onion breath in the office would be me. If you are not weird like me, make sure to consume several breath mints and maybe gargle several cups of mouthwash after eating this. Overall, Esposto's is a decent spot with more stuff on their menu aside from sandwiches that I will probably want to try in the future. Customer service is also top notch. When I came here to pick up an order for the office today, I was told the it would be ready at 11:45am. I came in even earlier and it was already sitting there fresh out of the kitchen waiting for me. I love it when things are perfectly timed. I recommend coming here if you already work in Mission Bay, however I wouldn't strongly recommend folks to otherwise go out of their way to eat here. I would probably give Esposto's a 4.5/5 since Mission Bay is out of the way from the BART line without the use of MUNI or whatever other public transit there is by my standards and, worse, it doesn't serve anything wholly unique to justify me coming here when I'm not at the office but I can't do half ratings on Yelp (I think) so YAY 5/5 A+ GOLD STAR. read more

I went here for lunch a little after 12pm and there was no wait. Looking around the restaurant, it seemed like most people ordered the sandwich here. I wanted to get the macaroni and cheese, but they didn't have it (either they ran out or don't sell it anymore), so I got the spaghetti and meatballs instead. The spaghetti tasted like the typical spaghetti that you can easily make with pasta sauce from a jar. The spaghetti was good, but not great. The meatballs here are HUGE! I was a little excited to try the meatball, but was slightly disappointed because I thought it would be a little more moist inside. The two slices of sourdough bread which came with my meal was good too. The bread was perfectly moist, soft on the inside, but slightly hard on the outside crust area. I would give this place a second chance. It's not a bad restaurant, but the food I got here during this trip was only ok. Next time, I'll try their sandwiches.
