This is just based on their customer service. I wouldn't return to this store if they would pay me. The way Oliver (store employee) treated and talked to us was completely out of line. I honestly don't understand what his problem was but it was obvious that he needs additional training. Oliver made rude comments under his breath and treated us like we interrupted his Instagram/Snapchat time. The experience was so bad that I hope people find an alternative place to shop. I'm sorry to say that I've had two awful experiences here. If you want the long version of the story, keep reading. If you want the short story- I would highly recommend you taking your business to Christy Sports for skis and gear, and Larry's boot fitting for your boot needs. The first time I went into Epic Mountain Gear was fine. I was wanting to buy my first pair of ski boots, and the man who helped me was kind, but he ended up selling me boots that were two sizes too big (and therefore miserable to ski in). I didn't yet know that my skis were too big, so after skiing in them for the first time and being in tremendous pain the entire time, I went back into Epic Mountain Gear to get the boots heat molded (which I had been previously told was optional, not required). When I walked into Epic Mountain Gear, it was really busy, but after a few minutes a man approached me and asked us what I needed. I explained that I had recently bought boots and wanted to get them heat molded, and the man immediately got snappy with me. He asked me why I hadn't gotten them heat molded when I first purchased the boots, and I tried to explain to him that I had been informed by an employee there that it was optional, but he immediately signed audibly, rolled his eyes, and told me off. He eventually (and reluctantly) told me he could have them heat molded for me, but by then I wasn't having it, so I left. I ended up going to Larry's Boot Fittings, where I was informed that my boots were two sizes too big. The employee at Larry's wanted to give Epic Mountain Gear a chance to make things right, so he called in and asked for the manager and told him I was heading over there to speak with him. So, I went back to Epic Mountain Gear for the third time and it ended up being my worst experience of all. I found the manager I was told to speak to and explained my situation. He immediately started speaking to me in a very condescending tone and blamed me for everything that had happened. "I know my employees never sell boots too big so what must have happened is that you INSISTED on getting the bigger size even though my employee strongly advised you not to." I tried to explain to him that that's not what happened, but he didn't listen and kept yelling at me about how this happens all the time and how I must have been rude and refused to listen to his employee. I ended up returning the boots and left the store practically in tears because I was so angry to have been treated that way. The good news is I ended up buying an AWESOME pair of boots from Larry's and had them custom molded! AND, just today, I bought my first pair of skis at an incredible price from Christy Sports, thanks to a super helpful employee there!! Moral of the story- save yourself from being treated disrespectfully and go to Christy Sports and Larry's instead of Epic Mountain Gear. read more

Is there anything lower than 1 star? What a horrible experience! This is the worst "ski" shop period. Go somewhere else. They act like they know everything, when they really know next to nothing. I took in a pair of skis to be mounted. Over two weeks and still not done when they said it would be done in one. They never called me to tell me there was a (supposed) problem. So now, I don't have my skis for the weekend! Don't get your skis mounted there because they will just try to sell you new boots or new bindings if your boots or bindings looks remotely used. I ended up taking my skis elsewhere to get mounted....they had no problem. Coming from someone that has been in the ski industry for over 30 years... these people know near nothing about skis, boots or bindings. They just want to sell you overpriced new stuff. Absolutely ridiculous! They are NOT the Boulder Ski Deals they used to be, not even close. read more

Went to Epic Mountain Gear in Boulder today to have my new Dabello Panterra 120 GW boots fitted and I was in luck because a woman named Paula Hoffman did my fitting. She was fast, accurate, and really knowledgeable. She brought my understanding of these great new boots to a higher level and she fitted me perfectly. I highly recommend Epic Mountain Gear and their super star boot fitter Paula Hoffman for their expertise and friendly service. Very good experience. This review serves as a warning of caution to any person who thinks they will actually get a "deal" when shopping at this establishment. Just last night, I was going to buy a 2012 Salomon Powder Snake- 166cm from Boulder Ski Deals and I was going to use their "Best Price Guaranteed" price matching policy (listed on their "Products and Services" website page.) So I walked up to the counter and showed the clerk a competitor's website page that was selling the exact same make and model for $40 less. The clerk (Chad) told me he would have to go look at the site in the back. 5 minutes later he came back and told me he could not offer me the price match. When I asked why he said, "because the price match has to be the exact same board. This board on the competitor website is a different size." I told him Boulder Ski Deals has 5 boards of this make and model so why should the size matter. Each size sold is the exact same price as any other size for that same make and model. He then said, "sorry, it's our policy" I was beginning to get upset so I pressed further. I said, "If it's your policy, why do you not have that listed on your website? I see on your website that you offer the best price guaranteed. Show me exactly where your policy states this." (and proceeded to show him the Boulder Ski Deals "products and services" web page) He stood firm that the "corporate policy" would not be compromised and that I would not be getting the price match. I then asked for his supervisor. He said "I'm it." I then asked for a name at corporate. He said "I can't give you that information." DO YOU SEE WHY IT'S IN YOUR BEST INTEREST TO FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO SHOP? You can bet your life I will never shop here again. HORRIBLE customer service regarding their price matching policy! (And by the way, I just ordered the exact same snowboard (same size too!) from a website that not only had the discount price listed, but did not charge me a shipping fee nor sales tax!) Boulder Ski Deals is a very good ski establishment. I bought a pair of boots there last year, and while they didn't fit, the sales staff tried like heck to fix 'em. I got another pair off eBay and took the new pair to Larry's Bootfitters (see Review). What they do have is an excellent selection of apparel, accessories and the wall of skis. Sometimes I just go and look at skis. Last year, I bought 10 pairs from various sources, so I don't need anymore, but it's nice to fantasize... I've purchased many things and had several different pairs get tuned, adjusted, mounted, etc. I've rented skis from them as well. It's a great place and the sales staff is very helpful. read more

Go to Christy Sports. I walked in on a dead, hot summer day looking to get some skis, boots, and poles. The whole kit and kaboodle. I was carrying ski socks in my hand. Maybe I should've worn a sign around my neck that said, "I am interesting in buying stuff and spending a lot of money." I looked at the skis, was actually interested in several, hoping to get some info on whether they were appropriate for my level and type of skiing. But I took some pictures and will buy those skis elsewhere. Then, I tried some poles. I held my socks in my hand as I looked at boots. During this whole time, there were two male employees hanging around the cash wrap chatting with each other. Another guy was looking at women's boots and was immediately helped. He said he was browsing for his wife and that he'd bring her in sometime. The salesman then walked away when he realized the wife wasn't there and his help wasn't needed. Meanwhile, I was completely ignored even though I was a present customer two feet away, looking at women's boots, with SKI SOCKS in my hand. Wow. CONTRAST: I walked into Christy Sports. An employee IMMEDIATELY came up to me. "You have ski socks with you!" And immediately helped me out. So go there and skip "Epic" Mountain Gear. It's definitely not Epic. read more

I am a new snowboarder, so I came into Boulder Ski Deals looking for some wrist guards (a few years back I boarded for the first time and broke my wrist, but that's aside from the point..). Anywho, there were literally five employees standing around the cash register doing nothing and no one greeted me when I walked in. Then, when I asked where the wrist guards were a very stern woman with a bad attitude pointed to the back. She didn't even take the time to show me where they were. I would understand if they were busy, but there were only a handful of people present in the store at the time and instead of helping customers like myself, the employees were gathered around the register talking about some stupid MTV show. Now that's customer service. I will NOT be returning to this store again. I felt incredibly unwelcome and will be spending my money elsewhere. read more

The sales guy, Kyle, was extremely helpful without being pushy; he went as far to check the catalogs for more appropriate alternatives to their regular inventory. Unfortunately, they didn't have quite what I wanted (few shops seem to carry splitboard boots with rock/crampon friendly soles in a 6.5 women's). I came in here twice to get new snowboard bindings and boots. The first time I came in there was a younger guy in charge of the snowboard section. He was moderately friendly and I told him what style of riding I do and asked if he could recommend something. He tried to pick some boots and bindings out but kinda seemed like he didn't know that much. He encouraged me to squeeze into the smaller pair of boots. I hesitantly agreed and walked out with new boots and bindings. If my review ended here it wouldn't be good. Keep reading. So that night I tried the boots on again and came to the conclusion they are way too small and my toes shouldn't be curled like he was recommending. I also googled the bindings and boots and read the stuff I got was designed purely for park riding. Which I told him I never ride in the park and need more of a free riding setup. I was a little frustrated. The next day I came in to return everything. There was anther guy working the snowboard area and I told him the situation. He apologized for the other guy and helped me for about 30 minutes finding the perfect setup. He was extremely knowledgable about literally everything on the wall. He found me the perfect setup and I walked out with exactly what I was hoping to find. It was a great experience. Wish I talked to this guy first but either way I'm happy! Boy am I glad I went here today for new ski boots! I got the deal of a century! I've been in the market for some new boots so decided to pop in over lunch to see what was in stock. My heart dropped as I looked at the prices - how was I going to afford $600 + ski boots? The gentleman who helped me seemed like an expert boot fitter (I want to say his name was Larry?? Nice guy!) and he sized me up and asked about my skill set, educated me on boot types, and gave me reasonable recommendations. He managed my expectations, saying they didn't have many small sizes left (I'm a 23). To my amazement he brought out a beautiful black solomon boot with gold buckles. Matches my skis perfectly! Oh and they were 1/2 off to boot! It doesn't stop there! He walked me over to the register and as the young man rang me up, the boots came up as $199! I could barely get my CC out I was so excited. They told the girl that I was with it would take 20 minutes for mounting and adjusting bindings, I walk up to desk and they tell me an adjustment is going to take 7 days... bro culture is strong here. Fred - The old guy on the floor was grouchy and just needed to make a sale - didn't give a $#1t about me once I said I was going to buy; unclear with even getting the services I needed done (not worried about him remembering my name). I have lived in or around Boulder for about 9 years now and have always used Boulder Ski Deals. Never have had a problem with products, and the service is great. I am new to learning to wax my skis and board myself, but am really stoked to learn. When I brought my skis in last week to get my bindings mounted to them, I mentioned this to the service fella (sorry I'm spacing your name) and he was super cool and gave me some advice on what to look out for and some tips.. rather than telling me they could do it better or being rude in any way. The worst. My wife and I along with our friends all purchased skis and boots here. After all the effort to fit my boots they were extremely tight and sales person said they'd loosen up after a few days of skiing...they never did! My wife and friends had the same experience...painful to ski. Our boots were then damaged in the flood so we bought new liners they said we could get refitted. That didn't work either so after spending oh...$1500 we got nothin! Staff is not friendly and doesn't seem that interested in helping. Extremely disappointed and I would recommend going to the place on the other side of town. read more

Boulder Ski Deals is awesome! I bought snowboard goggles for a fabulous price earlier this season. Unfortunately, I lost them :( so I went back to see if they still had the great deal, and they did! I asked the man checking me out about the goggles and mentioned that I lost my original pair. He gave me great tips, and 10% off for the lost item! I left happily. Then I walked right back to buy a Hydro Flask. More business for Boulder Ski Deals! The second man to check me out was just a pleasurable. He gave me advice on which color to buy, and how to properly drink from a wide mouth water bottle since I have issues. All in all my experience was great!
