I have been wanting to eat here for a couple of years. This past weekend, I finally made it and was not disappointed! I started out with the Salmon Volcano roll, which was so fresh and tasty. I then enjoyed a warm beet salad with goat cheese. Delish! I chose the grilled duck with bok choy for dinner. Heavenly! I recommend all of the above. Wah! 3.5! Sorry Eolus but I was just not crazy impressed given the high reviews and the fine dining mystique. Pros: my seafood/lobster pasta situation was sooooo delicious. My mouth is actually watering now to remember it. It's was so buttery and creamy mmmmm. And the waitress was very sweet and attentive as is expected at nice establishments like this one! The space is also nice and romantic. Cons: I got a cocktail that was horrrrrible! I can't remember what it was, but it tasted like lighter fluid. And before you jump on me about "maybe I just don't like alcohol" or "don't know what I'm talking about" I'm pretty positive that I chose some girly fruit drink and MAN it was strong and yeah. Tasted bad. It was beyond well liquor bad so I don't know what happened there. Also their bread and other food was so so. It was fine! But for the price and the hype it's not worth it. read more

Stopped in to this lovely bar/restaurant with beautiful copper accents. The wine list and food was up to snuff. A pleasant surprise! The sushi rolls were delicious, about 10 pieces. We tried the special roll -spicy tuna with a thin slice of jalapeño on top. Yum! They also had a swordfish special. I believe it was the best cooked swordfish I have ever had. It was served with roasted zucchini strips and a basil risotto. All good healthy and filling. To top it off we tried the small circle size cheesecake that came with peaches, a macadamia toffee and peach sorbet. 3 desserts in one. Yay! Well done team! read more

I was in Durango for business for two consecutive weeks. My first time visiting the area and I was very happy to see the number of restaurant choices available in a town of Durango's size. We ate at a majority of the places on Main Street during the course of our trip, and Eolus was HANDS DOWN my favorite "formal dining" experience. It was so good, we went back twice. Even though we are not locals, our server from the previous week came back to say hello, and our server the second time must have found out what we drank the last time we were there the last time, because he offered to bring the same type of wine. The manager overheard me wondering about a drink and stopped immediately (even though I didn't realize he was standing behind me) to help. In other words, top notch service. I am vegan and was able to enjoy their veggie roll (aioli on the side), their warm beet salad (goat cheese on the side), and a quinoa vegetable main course. I couldn't finish my entree because I was absolutely STUFFED, but everything was so good, I happily took it for leftovers. The restaurant itself is nice inside. The weather during our stay was not at all conducive to sitting outside, so I definitely look forward to sitting out on Eolus' patio next time I am in town for work. I appreciate how hard our servers worked on both visits (Tom on the first, Josh on the second) to keep our glasses full and our mouths watering. Would highly recommend to anyone. I stopped in Durango for a business trip. Locals had mentioned how great Eolus was, and it lives up to the praise. Eolus is the former Cosmos. I guess not much has changed except for the name. Service was top notch and seating is offered both inside or on the rooftop, which offers incredible views. I had to try the lobster burger. Yes, it sounded very odd to me, but I had to try it ($25). It was very good, very decadent. The beef was cooked to a perfect medium, which is what I ordered. I also had the Mexican Lager on draft and a bottle of Durango Brewing Co's Amber ale. The amber was a great pairing with the burger. I will definitely return to Eolus if I return to Durango. read more

This is one of my top go-to places in Durango. I have always had an amazing experience every time I go. Even when I am there for happy hour, I get the same experience as if I were there later for a regular dining experience. I will update once I have visited the rooftop, but so far, surprisingly, I always seem to be inside. The atmosphere is a little on the darker side, but it compliments the restuarant and feel so well. The food is always full of flavor and with great portions. I have been to Eolus on so many occasions and whether it is steak, seafood or veggies, it is always the best. read more

Wow what a wonderful surprise this evening. I have eaten ate all the best foodie places in Durango and I had the best meal in Durango I have every had at Eolus tonight. I had the saffron cappellini and it was simple incredible. I have had compelling food moments in SF, NYC and while traveling and I have to put this meal in the top 5. I am still wishing I was still eating that wonderful dish. The saffron tomato broth was simply a delight and full of depth and flavor. Scallops, salmon, lobster, shrimp, calamari and oh so much love. It was so fantastic. The flavors were buttery and luscious yet somehow light and well balanced. I have spent so much more for meals that did not compare to this dish and I left thinking "that is why I try new places". Gems like this keep the foodie in me always hunting.. I was majorly disappointed by our meal here. We went to Eolus to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary and sat on the rooftop as we thought it would be romantic. It was okay, way too many people for it to be intimate or romantic. Moving on to the food--we had the special sushi for an appetizer which was excellent. We really went to town on it. However, that's where the good food stopped. My husband had the prime rib two ways, which he did not enjoy. The flavor profile was weird and he didn't even finish his plate. I had the seafood in saffron broth. It had very little flavor and had literally one scallop in it. Very disappointing. My bowl was basically all noodles and shrimp. Blech! and not worth the money. Classy place! We got there about 40 mins to close. They were very welcoming and hospitable. Our waiter was prompt and efficient. He was very knowledgeable about the specials and other entrees. We ordered the Calamari to start with a couple Old Fashioned's and a Dirty Gin and Tonic. For our entrees we got the Prime Rib Two Ways and a Surf and Turf (Filet with Lobster). This was our anniversary dinner. As requested, they were sure to get us a quiet table in a part of the place where we could have some privacy and where it was quiet enough for some conversation. Secondly, the high star rating can only be due to the fact that many tourist must be contributing to the reviews. I say this because it is common knowledge in the industry that tourist will eat slop and still call it good if they have a nice evening on their vacation. Not to say Eolus is serving slop.... First time here. Had 5 and 3 course meals for Valentines and it was fair to good depending on the course served, but not great. The steak and pork chop both over cooked. After appetizer getting ordered wrong, didn't want to say much more. Long wait between entree and dessert as well. Was here a little over 2 hours and watched many people come and go while we waited. My Wedding Reception Was Perfect! Eolus recently hosted my wedding reception and I could not be happier. They have a private room on the second floor with beautiful views of Durango and the surrounding mountains. It also has a private restroom and bar area for your guests. The staff was professional and courteous. Everyone at my wedding commented on how amazing the food and drinks were. I received many #BestSteakEver comments. It was good, if over priced, but as someone who is interested in patronizing ​business where the owners treat their employees with respect and dignity, I was quite disturbed to witness the manager (or owner?), very angry and using much profanity, berating a server. (I was passing the kitchen while coming down the stairs from the rooftop deck). The server had waited on us, and was very attentive, knowledgeable, and gave excellent service. They also featured some special cocktails for their afternoon respite. I was pretty tired from my walking marathon exploring Durango's Main Street, so I ordered a Stella and some calamari. Its been one year since my husband and I ate here on our honeymoon and we were excited to come back to celebrate our anniversary. This place is incredible. We had reservations and were going to be seated inside. When we asked for the rooftop balcony instead, the hostess made it happen, no problem. The view is incredible: downtown Durango and the mountains. Our reservation was at 7 and the sun was beginning to set, the lighting was divine. Our server, Zel, greeted was a smile, bringing us water and bread as starters immediately. We wanted to start with a celebratory sparkling something and we were impressed with Zel's knowledge of the restaurant's good (but not overwhelming) selection of wines. (We overheard him suggesting wine pairings for other tables and it was obvious he really knew what he was talking about.) We went with a sparkling rosé called "J" which was absolutely the right choice. Dry but with a very small hint of sweetness to enliven the palette. Now to the food. The restaurant is farm to table and I guarantee you will not be disappointed with anything you order--its clear this restaurant takes pride in their food AND the experience-- but you HAVE to start with the Seared Sea Scallops and Prime Rib Bacon: sweet potato chip +truffle honey mustard +Turtle Lake pea vines. Mouth watering yet? For dinner, my husband ordered the Surf and Turf: butter braised Maine lobster tail +asparagus +beurre monte; filet +mashed Stubborn Farm local potatoes +peppercorn sauce. I ordered the Hamachi Volcano Roll: avocado +cucumber +wasabi sauce +green tobiko +volcano sauce +basil. This is hands down one of the best meals we have every eaten and we've been all over Europe.
