Amazing dining experience! It started with the awesome host, who welcomed us with a genuine warm greeting (even though he was visibly busy as busy can be... It was spring break for Texas and we had no reservations.. 3 other restaurants we went into were just rude.. We had no idea that Texas invades Durango this week). So he get's major awesome points awarded. He was very nice and found us a table in a reasonable amount of time and could not have been nicer... It get's better... The waiter was amazing and explained everything well and helped us narrow down our choices... We had the sushi special roll and the Grilled Hanger Steak... We are from Philly/NYC area and are Sushi and Steak snobs. Hands down, this was the best meal we had had in recent memory... YOU NEED TO DINE HERE !!!!! You will be happy you did !!!! -Straight Outta Also, when our meal was ready.. The host and others on staff bought all our meals at once... It was a well orchestrated dance of amazing food... The servers all work in unison to ensure drinks and food are delivered timely and speaking of food delivery - it reminded us of our time at very exclusive hotel in Canada where they delivered plates in unison with white gloves - just perfect! I feel like the odd man out here. I wasn't really impressed with Eolus. It's a favorite in Durango from what I was told so we gave it a try. I'd say the service turned me off the most. Our waitress was really pushy and I'd say almost aggressive. She came to our table frequently asking numerous questions- I know- shouldn't be an issue- but there is a fine line between trying to rush us out, to really wanting to serve us. Our reservations were at 7pm- I didn't think was too late- but she sure was rushing us. I had the beet salad- pretty good- not great- needs more goat cheese and nuts. I had the chicken for my main entree- almost over cooked- Mac and cheese was good. I'd say with the huge foodie scene in Durango and the many places I've tried thus far- not my favorite, and won't be back. read more

This is the best fine dining in Durango. James and his team have curated an interesting, creative and delicious menu. My husband and I have been dining here for over a decade. I rarely post reviews, but figured it was time! We have enjoyed every meal in the last 10-12 years and feel the menu and culinary experience are continuing to excite and exceed expectations. The wine list is exceptional and offers plenty of variety (even by the glass). We started with the scallop ceviche, which was scrumptious and unique. My husband had the salmon and I had the warm beet salad and the Tuna (melt in your mouth) Sashimi for dinner. All dishes were amazing and prepared with care. In the past we've had the duck, hanger steak and pork. Can't go wrong. The service is spectacular (request Barney as a waiter). Hats off to this gem of a restaurant. read more

Absolutely unbelievable. I am a foodie from LA who doesn't mind dropping good $ on good food. This place had meh reviews but something told me to try it. Holy smokes, am I glad I did. Service: Kelsey, our server, and Josh, food runner?, were amazing. Not disruptive, timed everything right, had excellent suggestions and were quick and polite. I was iffy when we walked in because the manager was at the host stand and seemed appalled that we didn't have a reservation. Saw him numerous times throughout the meal and he just seemed unhappy. Luckily it was just him. Drinks: We had a few local beers, all delicious. Food: oh my gosh. Everything was to die for. Like, absolutely perfect. Lobster Mac- completely different with a lemony cheese sauce. Paired great with the copious amounts of lobster. Poke sushi roll- I'm from LA and have access to some of the best sushi in America and I can honestly say this was pretty dang good considering our location. Lots of fish, very fresh, and huge. Surf and turf- we split this. I'm a huge steak lover and my wife loves lobster. This lobster tail was PHENOMENAL. Cooked to perfection, buttery and tender and fairly good size. I have no idea what the sauce was under the tail but so good. The filet was cooked to perfection a decent size and absolutely seasoned to perfection. Great peppercorn sauce to compliment the steak and mashed potatoes. Crème brûlée- perfect and light. Just order it. Don't believe the lower reviews. Came here for dinner. Extensive wine menu, great! Ordered Calamari as an appetizer, i guess we didn't realize or were not told it was going to be drowned in sweet n'sour sauce. So make sure to ask. I ordered the special "Swordfish w/ crispy noodle with a light mushroom broth" Not good. I specifically asked the server if it was a soup style. She said light broth. So, i gave it a try. I wish i would've taken a pic for you to see. The fish was cubed with a crunchy rice noodle mound and local veggies served in a broth. Might as well been a soup. Made everything mush. No flavor. I've had better in L.A.. Desert was a combo of apple tart w/ pumpkin cream puffs. Served cold and hard. Just wasn't my night, i guess. $300+ on a party of 4. Our server was super attentive. I do not hand out five stars lightly, but the entire dining experience we enjoyed last night is worthy of each star. We were able to get last minute reservations for an early seating, but if you want a specific time, be sure to think ahead and make your reservations early! Service was friendly and attentive without being over the top. Our waitress was knowledgeable and positive about the menu and confident it in the kitchen and spoke highly of the chef. Always a good sign in my book! We had the pork bun appetizer and it was a great start to go with our cocktails. The pork was the perfect balance of smoke and salt with the tangy of the kimchee (I would encourage the chef to not be afraid of using a bit of chile to up the spice factor). We both enjoyed our salad-fresh and perfectly dressed. Next our entrees. I had the duck breast which was perfectly cooked medium rare with a crispy skin and tender pink meat. My partner had the pork chop and all I can say is that the plates were wiped clean. Finally we shared the creme brûlée with a glass of amaro. From top to bottom, the meal exceeded my expectations and standards. My only critique would be for the chef to put just a bit of bite into the flavor profiles of the foods. I'll be back! read more

Great happy hour prices for fancy sushi rolls, pork sliders and one of the best burgers in town. Staff is friendly. Local beer is on tap. They also make a chop salad with wild salmon that isn't to be missed. The only reason I took a star off is because it's often too crowded during happy hour (people line up at the door) and the regular prices are a bit high. Been here a bunch of times over the years. We decided to give this place a try for my husband's birthday. Came early (5:30 pm) expecting to walk right in. Nope! Place was packed! I highly recommend reservations. We were told a table might be available by 7:30. So we went to the bar where there was only one chair. The host/manager found another chair and next thing you know we are enjoying a fabulous dinner at the bar!! Food was exquisite. Every dish was a party in your mouth. My fiancé and I tried this place before we left Durango, Colorado and it was great! We made a reservation at 5:15pm and they open at 5pm. We got there around 5:05 and were seated right away. We had a nice cozy booth tucked away from others. All the food we had was really good! It is pricey but we knew that going into it and the quality of the food justifies the price. The only thing we weren't crazy about was the Trio of Ice Cream dessert, but it was still good quality. The flavors for the day just weren't our taste I guess. The server was very sweet and prompt, I would recommend trying this restaurant, especially for a special night out! read more

I would give 5 stars if I knew Chris the head chef and part owner had nothing to do with this place anymore. Chris loves to verbally abuse his employees and talk down on people in a disturbing manner almost every shift. Don't even look at him! I worked here and after I saw him scream at a co worker for not knowing what amaretto was in front of everyone I knew I could no longer support it. Look at the other reviews. I am so happy customers can see how insane he is. James is his business partner who runs the front of the house. He is a very nice and admirable man who is always happy and professional. Laid back and sincerely loves his customers. I really hope one day he can move forward without Chris's erratic behavior. The drinks and food here are 5 star and as for service, who can do a good job when all that shit is going down in the kitchen?.... I can't really condone any of it no matter what. This may be the worst dining experience I've had in years. The only thing that saved the experience was the company i was eating with. The food arrived 2 hours after ordering. The sushi was served with bad fish, which was so bad you could smell it. The Caesar salad tasted like a bad head of lettuce with no Caesar taste. The drinks went empty for 30+ minutes. The pork belly appetizer was supposed to be served in a dumpling bread which came out best described as crusty. I get it, lots of struggles post covid but no excuse for serving inedible food with no concern. From our initial greeting as we entered to the door being held for us on our exit, this was an amazing meal and experience. My husband and I agreed this was one of the top 10 dining experiences we've had. The drinks from the bar were spot on. Our server was lovely and the service throughout the meal was outstanding. We each had a half Cesar salad that was great. I had the special (Mahi Mahi) and my husband had the filet. The timing of food coming out was perfect and the food was hot when it got to the table and both were delicious. If you have one night to go out in Durango make sure you have dinner here.
