Extremely intimate match bar in the heights, with quality finishes and products. Ideally situated next to a couple of Pilates and workout studios, so you gotta keep that in mind as you make your visit. I liked the up close view you got to have with the match-istas working the bar, but what's the pint if they don't even spark any conversation with the people sitting inches from them? It is mildly fascinating to watch them whisk and pour beverages as they huff matcha powder. The drink was solid, I have no real way to say it's better or worse than other premium, matcha specific drink locations. I could taste the main ingredient and it wasn't too sweet, so for me it was solid.
New brick and mortar location for enso in the heights. Nothing but positive things to say about this. Firstly, there is free 2 hour parking, so that is amazing! The inside is cute, traditional, and minimalistic (it also has a very nice clean restroom). There is matcha bar seating as well as tables all around the space. Free wifi too. Service is amazing here, the workers are very nice and make conversation! Perhaps because they just opened, but either way they made my experience feel awesome. What I like about the drinks here is that it all feels very intentional. The milk and flavor pairings are curated so that the base milk used in the latte will complement the syrups. Syrups made in house too. Asian flavors inspired like ube and pandan. Creative unique menu. - Hokkaido Fog: Kind of tastes like cereal milk (has that type of sweetness) with a nice creamy milk base and the earl grey shines through. - Ube Banana Pudding Matcha: My favorite drink so far. It is their normal matcha latte with a scoop of their ube banana pudding. The banana pudding is very nice. Definitely is a dessert drink, but I loved it. The matcha's bitterness balances the sweetness of the pudding nicely. It's one of their monthly rotational specials. - Pandan Matcha: This has notes of coconut and pandan. It's as you would expect. They have oat, almond, and dairy milk alternatives. Overall, I would recommend and will definitely be back to try other drinks!
There is free parking for a limited timeframe but paid after a while. I walked up after one customer. I ordered 2 matchas. One Strawberry and another Buruberi. It took less than 5 minutes. Such a pretty presentation. It appears they have their creative tea(m) well oiled for the orders. The drink was slightly sweeten and not overpowering. Just the way I like it. The syrup are house made and appreciated more than just bottled flavorings. Expect double digit prices for your drink. I will definitely be back to try more flavor options though.
New spot that opened in the Heights next to Snooze and opposite La Lucha. These couple of store fronts locations have consistently changed ownership throughout the last few years. Smoosh cookie sandwiches, Teapresso, Vuji Cafe, etc etc. Enso is what looks like a very Instagrammy and higher end matcha specialty drinks spot. It was very busy actually for the time when we went by. There was plenty of staff behind the bar whisking and blending the powders. The drinks do look very aesthetic and taste pretty good. I do wish it was generally less sweet and more bitter with a higher concentration of the matcha powder but it's a good drink. The cost is around $10/ drink after tax. It's quite stiff but it's a higher end drink spot in a fairly expensive part of town.

There's about 4 grams of matcha per cup so you will be caffeinated. Parking can be a bit of a pain due to the surrounding businesses. Just take a deep zen breath before making your way there cause once you go enso, there's no going back.

Enso finally has a brick n mortar!! After going to so many of their pop ups, I'm so happy for them for how far they've come. Overall, this is the BEST matcha in Houston. First off, their store front is beautiful. It immediately made me miss visiting Japan. They even have the high tech Japanese toilet to match haha just trust me and go to the restroom here. Jokes aside, their matcha is legit. Every single drink here is phenomenal. Made to order, hand whisked, and so many creative flavors to choose from. If you want traditional, I like the wakaba the best. Otherwise, my other favorites are their pandan matcha einspanner, murasaki, hokkaido fog, mint condition, or the biscoff banana pudding. If you haven't been to Enso yet, you're honestly missing out. There are many matcha spots in Houston now, but there truly is only one Enso. Cheers!
I've heard this is some of the best matcha in the area so I was so happy when they opened up next to my gym. I stopped by Friday morning after my workout and the line was out the door right at open time (8am). I didn't know what to get but the lady taking my ordered mentioned the mango matcha was one of their most popular items so I got that. I really enjoyed the drink! It was sweet but not overwhelming. I've had mango matcha before but this was significantly better. They are fully staffed to accommodate their popularity and the volume of business they are getting right now and I really appreciate that. Despite having about 10 people in front of me order before me, I was in and out in 10-15 minutes. The place itself is really nice and modern inside. Even the bathroom is super nice in there. I love that its close to the gym so I can just walk over after my morning workouts before work now. Yayyy!
Had a chance to go the Heights area that day. In the afternoon, Ensō was pretty busy. The customer service was excellent. Beyond expectation. The Manager communicates in the way he'd love to make sure the customer is happy with their drinks. . Huge plus. Drink: was good. The sweetness was just right on point. Vibe: busy, energetic, chill. Wood touch. Nice chair designs, also it feels comfortable sitting and enjoy the drink. Wish ensō all the bests and well loved by customers! Best
The place looks modern inside and has a Japanese vibe. There's bar seating and you can watch them make your drink. They have uniquely crafted drinks on their menu. I tried two different drinks so far and both of them were top tier. I tried the matcha eispanner with pandan added flavor. This one was sweet and had some whip cream in there. The other drink I tried was the wakaba which had a nutty flavor to it. The wakaba had more of the traditional matcha flavor with nutty notes. The parking is the only downside to this place. It's a paid parking lot and so the matcha is best to go especially since the place is small inside anyways.
Heard all the hype of this place so of course I wanna try too. Order the pandan matcha both of my favorites flavors. It was OK not as I expect to be something amazing in the taste.
My brother and sister-in-law introduced me to this spot, and I'm glad they did! The shop is small and quaint, with simple, minimalist decor that creates a cozy atmosphere. There was a steady stream of customers coming in and out, but the service was fast, and our drinks came out relatively quickly. I ordered the Hokkaido Fog, and it had a nostalgic Fruity Pebbles flavor that I loved. It was so good! I'll definitely be back to try more of their matcha drinks.
Houston Matcha Pop Up finally has a storefront! Their matcha is co-branded with Kettl. Overall, their matcha flavor was pretty light (or I personally just prefer a strong matcha flavor). Ordered: - Biscoff Banana Pudding Matcha Latte - Banana pudding itself was pretty good. Seasonal drink. - Matcha Einspanner I like the interior vibes. It's very modern japanese vibes. Wouldn't recommend working/studying there (it was a bit loud), but it's a nice place to sit and chit chat. We went on a Sunday in the mid afternoon, a couple weeks after their storefront grand opening, and the wait was about 15-20 minutes.
Okay as you can tell - i love me some Ensō **rated from my most favorite to least favorite** My #1 go to - Hokkaido fog, this is DELICIOUS! I was very skeptical about mixing matcha with earl grey but it's really good. Best way to describe this drink is that it tastes like fruitty pebbles! 100/10 Matcha Einspanner - i liked the ube flavor - the vanilla creme in this makes your drink taste like melted ice cream 9/10 Mango Matcha - the mango in this is very creamy and sweet, great choice if you're trying to get into drinking matcha 9/10 Strawberry Matcha - this isnt as sweet as you'd expect it to be but still very delicious! 8.5/10 Cherri Matcha - ummm wasn't the biggest fan of this one. They use dark cherries so the flavor is a bit nutty 7/10 Banana Pudding Matcha - i absolutely hated this one lol. The matcha and the banana pudding both tasted great individually but the flavors didn't complement one another in this drink. 4.5/10 I haven't tried but my coworker lovesssss the Honey Jasmine Houjicha - she said it has a slight chocolately taste so her rating 10/10 read more
Ensō Matcha is definitely worth the hype! I tried the Strawberry Matcha and OMG it was sooo good. The strawberry flavor paired perfectly with the matcha it was creamy, refreshing, and had the perfect amount of sweetness without overpowering the matcha. You can definitely taste the quality of the matcha, and I love that they have so many different and unique options to choose from. The space is also super cute and gives the perfect little matcha bar vibe. As a matcha lover, I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. 10/10! read more

This matcha place is located in a plaza with parking in the back. It also came with free parking for two hours which was nice. I really loved the interior of the cafe, the dark wood furniture was a nice contrast with the clean white walls. And the pops of green decor was nice. The overall style of the space was minimalist, simple, and clean. There's bench seating against the back corner with small tables and a little bar seating up front where you get to be up close with the baristas as they whisk matcha. I ordered the Hojicha Latte and I think my friend got the Matcha Einspanner (?). I genuinely loved my latte, it was just wonderful. Hojicha is my go-to, I love the nutty flavor. It paired well with the oat milk. It had the perfect level of sweetness: which is sweet but not too sweet. The drink was nutty, earthy, and overall very enjoyable. My friend's drink had matcha and a sort of cold foam? or maybe a whipped cream on top. Anyways I had a sip of hers and it was very good. The prices are pretty steep for their drinks, but their quality is very good. I'm sad to be far but if I'm ever in the area again, I'd love to come back and try their other drinks (although their Hojicha Latte is hard to beat!). Thanks enso matcha! It was my first time trying their drinks, I ordered the Uji Homare and the mint condition. The Uji Homare tasted like hojicha, it was creamy, rich and flavorful The other drink mint condition was refreshing while still having subtle notes of matcha, I recommend this one if you don't like your matcha too strong. The cashier was very helpful since I didn't know the name of one of the drinks but since I described it she helped me figure it out. The inside of the store has a very authentic Japanese style feel to it, while having alit if natural light however there aren't that many places to sit inside and it does get busy quickly. read more

---Banana Biscoff Pudding Matcha--- Get this if: - you woke up on a weekend and decided that you'd like a sweet treat with a side of quality matcha - you can appreciate two well-executed elements for what they are and are not looking for a cohesive drinkable experience The matcha itself has a creamy viscosity and an almost velvety texture that coats your tongue. The flavor was fresh and bright but not in a heavily earthy or grassy way. The biscoff banana pudding was yummy in a way that a banana pudding from a dessert shop would be. I wouldn't say that the two together complement one another as well as a pain au chocolat complements coffee, but it is nevertheless an enjoyable experience if you don't mind appreciating the banana pudding for what it is and the matcha for what it is. read more

I'm not a crazy matcha fan. Stopped by as a post workout pick me up as the line was not out the door. It's a nice clean setup with a matcha bar/counter. The wait was about 15 mins for us. They have quite a team working diligently through the orders. I have to say this was a very enjoyable matcha drink. The mango did give it more sweetness but it was very smooth, not chalky or grassy as I normally feel like matcha sits on my palate. read more

This place is pretty legit, although extremely busy a lot of the time. If you don't want a line, come early. They hand whisk their matcha and during busy times, you can sit at the bar and watch them make it, which is pretty cool. read more

I went here after a run and got a hojicha latte, a water, and a truffled egg sandwich. They were all great, but what stood out to me is that the man who took my order noticed I finished my water before I got my latte and refilled it for me which I thought was very nice. read more
ENSŌ MATCHA is Houston's classic matcha spot that was originally started as a pop up. They finally have a permanent location in Houston heights. I waited the hype to die down a bit, but they are still very busy every time I go. The interior was absolutely beautiful but they didn't have too much seating. Ensō uses high quality matcha powders and hand whisk every drink, which I appreciate. My favorite choice is the Uji Homare which is a classic flavor. The biscoff banana is on their special menu and it was very delicious! I love earl grey in my matcha, which is why I also got the Tokyo fog. I felt like the tea flavor was a bit too strong and sweet since it was made into a syrup. I also love a nutty matcha which is why I also tried the Wakabe, but I felt like it was TOO nutty and plain tasting. Overall, their matchas are very good and they're one of the best for a reason! I will always stop by if I'm in the heights! read more
Wowow! I am still thinking about how delicious this matcha was! I have tried enso pop ups before and thought it was pretty good but its new storefront is a wow! I got the Uji matcha which if you enjoy a thick creamy rich matcha, this is the one for you! Absolutely loved the flavor. The pandan matcha is also delicious! I've been rocking with Ensō at their pop up's since I randomly came across them on IG Matcha side. I love the space they have created for their new Matcha cafe. It inviting and I enjoy sitting at the bar watching the baristas prepare the Matcha. I appreciate the curated menu they offer with non dairy milk options for people like me! I recently tried the Cherrí Matcha which is cherry and vanilla flavor with oat milk, absolutely delicious! It tastes exactly how it sounds and it does not disappoint. I'm a huge fan of teas, lattes, Matcha, Hojicha, etc. plus it's in my fav neighborhood so this is a great reason to go. I'll definitely be trying some seasonal flavors the next time I in the area. So happy there a place to go enjoy a Matcha latte from you guys!! read more
Probably one of the best matcha places in Houston! I ordered the strawberry matcha latte and the biscoff banana cream matcha. It wasn't too sweet and they were generous with the amount of matcha was given. Workers are extremely nice but the place was packed even 20 minutes before closing. Defiantly try to go this week because of their special for 15% off drinks and grand opening will be 20% off. read more

It was my first time visiting Enso, and I had a great experience. The place is small, cozy, and beautifully decorated with a clean, minimalist Japanese style that makes the space feel warm and relaxing. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. As for the drinks, I personally liked the Uji the most--it was rich, creamy, and had a wonderful matcha aroma. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely come back. Highly recommend stopping by if you're looking for a cozy matcha place with a relaxing atmosphere and delicious drinks! read more

Ensō is a pop-up that offers many creative, handcrafted matcha and tea drinks! When we went, they were physically located at Norigami, which had a cute, intimate ambiance and lots of parking. I got the Pandan Latte, which had strong notes of both pandan and coconut and was perfectly sweet. Unfortunately, the matcha had a bitter aftertaste that made it difficult for me to fully enjoy the drink. Service was great: fast and friendly. They had also extended the 20% discount for National Matcha Day. Another cute touch was the free Pokémon cards that my friend and I sifted through while waiting. Overall, I'd be willing to give this spot another try, 7/10 would maybe recommend for now. read more

Delicious matcha. It is a bit pricey but if you want good quality great balanced matcha I would 100% recommend this place if you're in the heights. I got the seasonal banana pudding and it was amazing, although the pudding was a bit too sweet for my liking, it was great banana pudding. It was pretty busy and even then our drinks came out pretty quickly. Will definitely be back. read more

i wanted to like this spot but a matcha was $14 EACH, not filled to the top, and full of ice. i personally have made my own banana pudding matcha at home and the ingredients alone cost less than a cup of matcha here :( i was too embarrassed at this point to say "never mind" when i heard the title but the menu didn't have any prices lol. anyways im not sure id give this spot another chance, the matcha was smooth but nothing to ride home about or memorable read more

As an LA matcha girly I am always rating matchas elsewhere to that expecation but knowing Enso uses kettl was all I needed to know for me to know it is approved. I usually never get non whole milk matchas but their default almond milk mango matcha was still yummy! read more

Lovely & welcoming staff! I got the pandan matcha & my sister got the strawberry matcha & we both loved our drinks. My sister who is not a big fan of matcha, loved her drink because of the strong & rich flavor. The strawberry does not overpower the matcha taste, it's very well balanced. Pandan is very yummy as well, my go to flavor!! Def recommend, however, very busy & had to wait outside. Staff will get your drink out quick though! (They have milk alternatives also!) read more
