Stopped in for a drink and snack a Cole times over our weekend in Mystic. We sat at the bar both times, they were very kind with questions and quick with service. We ate the chili crunch hard boiled eggs and the hush puppies... delicious!! We ate them too fast for photos.

Engine Room is a gastro pub located in a old engine factory. It has a rustic look and it's a cool spot. We sat outside on the patio during brunch. Service was efficient and friendly. There's a large selection of craft beers, cocktails, and wine. The cuisine is American; there were burgers, salads, sandwiches, and more. They also give you the option to make your own bloody Marys. I had the Express Yourself cocktail which is like an espresso martini; that was good. For my meal, I had the Engine Room breakfast sandwich, it had bacon, eggs, cheese, on a bun with fries. The food was really good. Overall, we had a good experience. The food and drinks were delicious and would definitely return.

We have been to two sister restaurants and enjoyed them, so figured we would try out the Engine room. Everything went really well! We enjoyed all our dishes: Deviled eggs Poutine Whipped ricotta Chicken burger Cobb salad Each were tasty and fresh. And reasonably priced! It helped that we went during happy hour, though only 2 of the items were on HH special and we only received the discount on one of the 2 items. But we were very pleased with the food's presentation, service and atmosphere. We weren't aware that there was also a small parking lot, but we were able to score a street parking up the road. In a town where Parking is at a premium it's nice that they have a lot. We will be back!

A staple for visiting with a good friend. They have an enjoyable outside deck, or you can sit in the bar area or a small quieter portion of the dining room. Great happy hour specials for drinks and apps. Never have had a bad meal or service here. In the busy season, be prepared to wait for a table.

My friends and I ate at Engine Room while visiting Mystic for the day. The restaurant came recommended from a coworker. Overall we were happy with her recommendation - it was a positive experience. The restaurant is pretty central to Main Street and definitely walkable if you want to stroll around and walk off your food. Parking in the front is limited but there's additional parking behind the restaurant. The service was good. Our waitress was friendly and checked-in frequently. For food we started with an order of the Cowboy Dip and the Salmon Jerky. The dip is good, but it's very cream cheese forward. It's basically just cream cheese mixed with jalapeños. We ended up asking for more chips because you'll likely run out. The salmon jerky was DELICIOUS. I could've eaten an entire plate as my entree. The serving size isn't great for a group however. It comes with 4 pieces, so each person in our group got a single piece. For mains the group ordered the Mushroom Mae Burger, the Chicken Burger, a pulled chicken sandwich off their seasonal specials menu, and a French Onion Soup. Everyone enjoyed their food. I thought the Mushroom Mae burger tasted excellent - just wish it came with more fries. The only critical feedback was for the Chicken Burger - it was a tad bland and not super memorable. We all left full and satisfied - I would come back again next time I'm in town.

The food was delicious! The potato salad good enough to want to buy a whole container to take home! The onions rings crispy outside but they do separate. The burger and chicken burgers were perfection and the cocktail and moctail were delicious! The service was great even on a very busy day. We sat outside which was really nice but they had a lot of indoor seating as well. I will definitely return

Ladies & gentlemen... starts your engine!! Yet another great eatery in the beloved town of Mystic. As one could venture a guess, their name comes from their current space which was a Marine Engine building. With their lovely views of mystical, their incredibly charming & rustic ambience paired with a great menu, Engine Room is always on my list of places to visit on my trips to Mystic. Highly recommend the burger.

I saw this restaurant keep coming up on TikTok when searching things in Mystic . We were vacationing for a week so had to try it and was not disappointed. Very small parking lot as we are a party of 5 with one in wheelchair and one is a 5yro.Very busy . But we were able to be seating in less than 10mins on a Saturday. We got happy hour drinks ,hush puppies ,and burgers. From regular menu got chicken burger, fries, kids Mac & cheese. Everything was delicious. 2 out of the 4 hush puppies were lil burnt but we just put extra of the sweet butter on them . Waitress had great personality. It was loud and packed there was music playing and couldn't make out the words lol . Didn't bother us but some ppl probably wouldn't enjoy it .

We returned to the Engine Room specifically to curb the burg craving, & we were not disappointed. What we ordered for food: - Mushroom Mae Burger w/ gluten-free bun ($18.50 + $2.50) - A+ - Grassfed Burger w/ regular bun ($18.50) - B* - Stuffed Peppers ($6) - A - Farm Greens ($10) - B+ What we ordered for drinks: - Seagrass Spritz ($14) - C+** - Foreign Oil ($15) - A Our server: - Morgan - A+*** The vibes: - Festive & funky ambience, great music, perfectly lit, very busy - A *Very small burger **Slightly unbalanced cocktail that fell flat (literally & figuratively) ***Wicked friendly & helpful. Even brought me an extra pickle! Overall, we curbed the burg & had a great time. We will definitely be back.

Engine, Engine number 9 on the NY transit line. If your train falls off the track... LET IT GO! The engine room was a fail for me. I should have known right from the moment I picked this as our Saturday night dinner spot when the reservation link did not allow you to change the number of guests in your party to make a reservation! But I was persistent and called. The hostess was not very helpful as she told me she could not get us in at 4:30 as requested but just walk in- they leave walk in tables available. As I continued to alert her of the reservation website issue she finally relented and told me she had availability for 5! Why didn't she start off with that?! We get to the restaurant and the hostess station is packed. I asked my family to mull outside (up against a wall- out of the way) while I check in. It took a good 5 minutes to speak to someone and in the meanwhile my family was getting hassled about being in that area. Where are they to go? The hostess station was jammed with people and servers were walking in and out with food and drinks. This was the best option. What took so long at the hostess station? It's 5pm on Saturday and they are still taking calls instead of seating people. We are seated and our waitress was nice enough. My one complaint about her... When I place my order and then ask for a specific side of something (a condiment) she should immediately alert you if they do not have it. I would have changed my order based on this. But she didn't. They don't have blue cheese dressing here. The kids meals were a decent sized portion. No complaints from the 13 year old with chicken fingers and fries. The 3 year old did not like his mac and cheese. I will stick up for ER here and state it was good mac and cheese. it was my saving grace as thats what I ate when my meal fell flat. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It stated it is served with 'creamy cole slaw.' I am not sure who wrote the menu or who designed the recipe for their coleslaw but somebody needs a dictionary and learn the definition of creamy. It was DRY. No liquid what so ever, not even at the bottom of the cup! I do not spit food out, but I took my first bit and I had to spit it out. I felt like I licked the bottom of the produce bin at the grocery store. Awful. The sandwich was ok, luckily they did have crumbled blue cheese so that saved the flavor. My husband said his half rotisserie chicken was fine, the sides were the best part of his meal. Ohh and I ordered a side of onions rings. I got the first onion ring on the top of the tower. it was fine. I then had one a little lower and again I found myself spitting out food! It was pure MUSH! Disgusting. A drink... The waitress said she could make me something fruity and she asked so i said rum. She returned and said the bartender has a strawberry vodka and she can do something with that. I said sure. She delivered a drink (see photo) that was like biting into a lime! It was awful. She checked in and said let me hit it with a splash. Took the drink, returned it a totally different color (purplish) and it was worse! HOW CAN THIS BE? I didn't drink it. Overall I felt like I wasted money.

Open kitchen. Cool place. Very old boat engine factory nicely transformed. Food is excellent too.

The building itself is gorgeous with thick beams and great finishes. It's a beautiful place even if it is a little tight. With that said, we had a party of 10 and had reservations in advance. Parking is always tricky, but we got a good spot in the lot and were very happy. The wait for the table was maybe 10 minutes which was not too bad. The waitress was very good and she took care of our water, drinks, and bread right away. The place was busy but we really were pleased with the service! I ordered the fish and chips. Most of the table ordered a steak, veggie, and mashed potatoes. Truffle fries was the appetizer that landed on my end of the table. They were not my favorite. Those who had the steak seemed happy with the meal. Both of us who had the fish and chips were not happy with the meal. We had fish and chips at Steak Loft the night before- and they did not compare. They were perfect. The order I had at Daniel Packard were heavy and filling but I was missing the light tempura batter, the crunch and soft fresh fish, and the great tartar sauce that is the standard for fish and chips! I didn't take my leftovers which is not the norm for me. I'll swing by in the winter for a pint in front of the fire no doubt, but I think another dinner is not in my future.

I enjoyed the play between savory and acid. I chose my eggs to be prepared over easy expecting the yolks to add the desired richness that tomatillos can handle without overpowering their bite. What set this version apart for me was the addition of the pickled vegetables. They greatly complimented the tomatillos with their own sweetness and acidity that made for a well balanced bite. As a resteraunt, the downstairs was very small with 3 tables & a bar; the upstairs was more spacious. The food was edible, but it wasnt anything special; nothing a novice cook at home couldnt produce taste-wise, & you would have never known you were in a Mexican resteraunt by the food, the ambiance, or the drinks (which is hard to do because margaritas are made of tequila) Granted what we ordered wasn't Mexican, but isn't that strange in itself? I ordered one of the specials: ($27) boneless beef short ribs w/ a mescal mushroom sauce, on a bed of mashed potatoes & spinach w/ pickled onions, & a ginger margarita ($14). My friend chose the special ($26) coconut crusted cod w/ rice, mixed vegetables, pineapple salsa & a house silver margarita (16). Mine was edible & the meat was a good texture, but the flavor profile was nothing to write home about. Actually, it would have have been better without the sauce, because it overpowered the dish. The pickled onion on top was the best part of my meal. The drink also fell flat, but was drinkable. My friend reported that her fish was bland & flavorless, but could have been improved with a little lime. However the waitress never came back after taking the order, except to drop the check. It was delivered by a runner. She commented that everything else on the plate had flavor & as long as she ate bites of everything together, it was decent. I gave it a try, & agreed, but I have to say the pineapple salsa was a stand out star on her plate. Her drink was also passable, but not good enough to order a second & she had to add sweetner, because it was mutually bitter & tart. She said the sweetner improved it. The wait staff was not unpleasant, they were just mot attentive. Needless to say I won't be returning.
