I've been here twice now since my friend put me on. Let me start off by saying that i'm not a big pizza girlie and it's only ever so often that I'll crave a slice or two. However this place? Stamping it as my official go-to place whenever I want my pizza fix. The inside is fairly small so expect to be close to the table next to you. Im talking the kind of close where you'll have to shift your table to get in and out. Service is relatively fast and all of the waitstaff are pretty friendly. We started with the calamari bc whenever there's calamari on the menu, i'm ordering it! The breading was perfect and the calamari was flavorful and crispy. I enjoyed the duo a special mayo and some marinara. (How all fried calamari should be served, in my opinion). For our entree we decided to split the colony pie. It's a red pizza with cheese, pepperoni, pickled jalapeños and topped with some hot honey. Whoever invented honey on pizza is genius because it's the perfect combo of salty and sweet. The pizza toppings to cheese to sauce ratio was perfect. Personally I think one is good to share between two people but if you're a group -- def opt to get more! I thoroughly enjoyed the food here and I think it's worth the hype if you don't have to wait too long. We lucked out and had a group of 3 walk-in and really only had a 20 minute wait to get a corner table on a saturday afternoon. We got the calamari for an app, the colony pizza, and their burger. Calamari - On the lighter side for an app, and in a good way. Not too greasy, decently crispy, and had a both cocktail and a tzatziki style sauce. The additional garnishes also helped keep it light and interesting. Good size for 3 people to share. Colony Pizza - If you like a hot honey style pizza, this one basically accomplishes that with jalapenos paired with honey and a ton of pepperoni cups. Really delicious and generous on toppings. Floppy and foldable. (I think there were almost too many toppings for how flimsy the crust was though, and I would have loved for it to be a bit crispier.) Very instagrammable though. Burger - Their signature burger -- it was awesome! And I'm not really a burger person. The bun was buttery and delicious, and the burger was wonderfully juicy and thick. It's kind of no frills, not a ton of additional toppings, but it was really satisfying. Definitely a messier burger due to the juices. The shoestring fries that came with this were also really great. Not many restaurants serve these, and they were perfectly crispy. Honestly with the apps and pizza, I was full with just eating half of the burger. It was that filling. Ambiance -- even on a late saturday afternoon it was decently busy. It's a small space, though there is a bar. Neighborhood feel, and people had small children with them. It's super unassuming outside and easy to miss. It's pretty cramped in there so prepare to be able to hear your neighbors' conversations and be sitting pretty close. It's got a rustic vibe to it and pretty casual. Would recommend if you're looking for a good burger and topping heavy pizzas and are ok with some waiting and general restaurant crowds. Didnt need to wait on a weekend around 1pm but that might have to due with the fact there were flurries and it was cold. Everyone seemed to have been having a good time inside and enjoying their food. Not a lot of tables though and I would expect it to be more crowded on nicer days. Ordered the karaage, emmy burger, and an Emily pizza. Pizza came super quick and was delicious, though the honey seemed to be overwhelmingly sweet. The karaage seems to be chicken thighs battered, fried, and then sauced. Comes with a cilantro ranch dressing that was very herby, but good. The Emmy burger was the reason we chose to try this place and honestly was kind of a let down. There was a lot going on, the caramelized onion, emmy sauce, and juice from the burger made for a very messy eating experience. It was good, not sure it was worth the price point and effort. The food menu is tiny--this is a small alcohol & pizza joint. The indoor seating seats 20-30 people at most. Very tight. Not for large groups. Very casual & low key atmosphere. Nothing fancy, just some good, chill vibes. Because the space is small, it gets loooud. The music creates a nostalgic, relaxing vibe--classic hits will transport you to the glorious days of yore, when you were dancing to the songs of the 80's, 90's and 2000's. All my playlist songs were playing on a Wednesday night, so I thoroughly enjoyed the vibe. Staff are courteous and food is delivered quickly. The red planet $17 is a vegan pizza, that comes without cheese. Just dough and red sauce. For $17. Good thing our waitress alerted us about that and we asked to add mozzarella. Definitely not the pizza you want. Bland and tasteless. Dough was meh. Not crispy, not chewy, just so forgettable and definitely not worth the money for the portion, ingredients, and the end result. Definitely skip this and opt for a different pizza. All pizzas are small, so get a few to share. The prices are on the expensive side--$25 for a small pizza is Manhattan standard. The quality, however, is definitely not reflective of the price. $31 burger was the highlight of our experience--so juicy and satisfying. Medium rare is the perfect temp for this meat, so listen to your server's suggestion! Everyone gets this burger here, so make sure you splurge. The price is high, for a burger. The pizza and food are great! Like so so good. If you're looking for a pizza thats over priced with a small menu this is it. The food is worth the price. The burger is delish and definitely sharable. The fries i feel like they have changed them but don't quote me on that. Why didn't i give this spot the 5 stars that the food should get? Bc I'm taking stars away for atmosphere. Quality of ingredients and dishes was solid, hence the 4 stars. But overall the flavors were out of balance, very very heavy. The burger didn't have much to cut the heaviness (I'd expect more pickles or a sauce to balance out the thick patty). Although the chicken taste good, one side was burnt. Wish I took a picture. Every single piece had a really burnt side. Ended up saving it and giving it to my dog. Emily's is not what it used to be. The quality of the food has significantly changed specifically when it comes to the Korean Chicken Wings. The Wings weren't actually Wings but boneless thighs and other unidentifiable chicken parts. They were heavily breaded, and some pieces were tough. Our server was pleasant but did not notify use that they did not have bone in Wings. Additionally, I ordered the burger medium well, and it was prepared well done. It was lacking something in terms of flavor, and it might be the juicy factor the burger used to have. My friend had a spicy marg that she sent back due to it not being mixed well. Flying back to New York, our sons were picking us up at LaGuardia Airport. Everyone said, Dad what are you craving for dinner? I said a good New York Pizza, so we set the destination for Emily in Brooklyn. The funny thing about the place I just left? *NO* brick oven or Italian restaurants? I was telling them about the outrageous burger I had here, they were more interested in the different tacos and funky pizzas. We ordered our drinks and placed our food order. The tacos came out first, wow! The house smoked brisket birria tacos were off the chain. The brisket was smoked perfectly and topped with the right amount of jalapeños and pico de gallo. The havarti sounds strange but it all works together in perfect harmony. Speaking about harmony, the Emily pizza comes to the table. The pistachio and truffle sottocenere (What the heck is sottocenere??) and honey makes this pizza award winning. The crust isn't pillowy and puffy, its thin. Once that thin crust is topped with the sottocenere (??) and cheese, the Emily pizza is a knockout of a pizza. It's not a typical round, 8 slice classic New York pizza. It's a personal pizza for two people. We also ordered the Apple of your Eye pizza but I didn't snap a photo. Their namesake Emily pizza comes topped with mozzarella, pistachio, truffle oil, and honey. It's definitely atypical, but is an intriguing combination of sweet and savory flavors. Very very cheesy. The bread is thick and has an addictive chew to it. Their Emmy burger is nothing short of a juice bomb. The combination of dry-aged beef, caramelized onions, and cheddar cheese already equates to a huge burst of flavor... and that's not even the best part. It's the EMMY sauce that takes this burger's umami level to a whole other level. Ask for it on the side though since it does have a strong flavor profile. I remember coming here 4-5 years ago, at the height of their reputation, waiting in the long line and giving up with a promise to myself to come back. Well, yesterday was the night; we walked in and our table was ready after only a 10 minute wait on a Saturday night. The moral of the story is to never give up... anyway, enough joking around. Sure, the hype is real. Their burger with the special orange colored Emmy sauce, caramelized onions, cheddar cheese, and bacon (we caved and paid the extra $4 bucks for it) on a pretzel bun is definitely tasty and filling. The juices from the burger start oozing out the moment you bite into it, foreshadowing of a very messy experience over your next 5-15 minutes, depending on how fast you eat. The shoestring fries were perfectly crispy and delicious, not to mention the generous portions. Was the burger worth the $35 bucks? I think not. I have had juicier burgers for a cheaper price point and left with a full wallet and stomach. If you are still willing to check it out for the hype, don't cave like I did in getting your burger with bacon. We barely tasted the bacon in our burger and the burger itself was good on its own. You can just use that money to buy a pack of bacon from the store and have a nice breakfast in the morning instead. We also tried the Colony, one of their red pizzas with mozarella, pepperoni, pickled chili, and honey. Their pizza is wood-fired, thin-crust, filled with a healthy portion of toppings, and tastes quite well. All their pizzas on their menu sound amazing due to the skillful selection of ingredients used as toppings, but the Colony captured my attention from its sweet and spicy nature. I ordered takeout, and given the price point, the pizzas were underwhelming (Colony and William). The first disappointment was the pizza dough. The bottom was doughy, and the interior of the crust was doughy. The only positive part was the outer crust's slight crisp. The William was bland. On paper, it sounds like a winner, but something is sorely lacking from the recipe or execution. I can appreciate simple pizzas like a margherita, but something was definitely missing from the William. I didn't register anything from the sauce or the mozzarella. The Colony was better, albeit still completely forgettable. I think Speedy Romeo's has a St Louie pizza that's way better. The raw broccoli dish was fine, with a nice touch from the dried cherry. I was super stoked to try the burger which personally I don't feel was worth the price tag, however it's good enough to at least try (you can share a burger between 2 people if you're not starving). The patty was a good medium, juicy, with onions included. Fries were not the star of the meal, more of an afterthought. We also tried the pizza, the first listed under the "Pink" section, but I can't recall the name. I could skip on the pizza, perhaps a red sauce would have been better. Vestiges of former it-girl status abound: cheek to jowl seating, a 40-minute wait for food in a restaurant that serves literally two main dishes (pizza and burgers.) So, what was the fuss about? My husband pronounced the burger salty and cold (I have the same complaint about him sometimes) but otherwise acceptable. My pizza was competent, with inventive toppings over a satisfyingly chewy crust, but not a rival for the hottest places in Williamsburg or New Haven. We had two drinks apiece and no dessert, and the total was closing in on $150. It was fine. Think of Emily this way: after a night on the town circa 2015, greasy burgers and pizza in a cramped dark joint would be the best drunk food ever. Our Order: 3 x The Emmy Burger $28 a piece 1 x William 1 x Colony 1 x Emily The good: The pizza was decent, my favorite was the Emily (white) and the Colony (red), easily a different type of pizza slice where it wasn't too thick like a sicilian but not too thin either. It was tasteful and delicious. The William slice was nothing special, but nothing bad either. The bad: The Emmy Burger, ordered medium rare, may have been dismantled from any chance to blow me away simply because of take out. Rest assured we were outside waiting ready to pick up the food as soon as it was ready, walked about 3 blocks to my friends house (about ~10 minutes of travel/walking time), yet some how the Emmy burger just seemed so disappointing. Whether it's a $28 burger or a $5 burger, this burger was nothing special. What makes it worse is that it was $28 a burger, but I could've easily gone to Shake Shack and gotten a much better tasting burger for less than half the price. The sauce wasn't too appealing to me either nor were the fries (the fries were very basic). I first tried Emily in West Village three years ago and immediately proclaimed it as the best burger I'd ever eaten in my life. Three years on, a pandemic has struck, but Emily still makes the best burger I've ever eaten. The caramelized onion on the burger had a good sweetness, almost like a sweet onion jam. The pretzel bun compared to other places was nice because it wasn't too buttery. The french fries were shoestring style and extra crispy. They tasted like a fast food place where they cook the french fries in old oil (in a good way). One criticism is that they add too much onions which surpassed the flavor of everything else. I didn't even taste the cheese on it. If you are really into burgers I would highly recommend the sauce on the side as it is very overpowering. For my taste, after eating the sauce I began to feel grossed out. This is absolutely a bucketlist item meal in NYC, and I highly recommend adding it to yours. It's worth a one-time try. The patty is obviously high quality, the pretzel bun is perfectly pillowy, the sauce + caramelized onions+ cheeses will run down your fingers like a river but not in vain. Now this is a burger. Somehow I missed writing a review for this place the first time I came here, which was a few years ago by now. Came here a few weeks ago for the second time. In full disclosure, my experience the first time would have been 4 or 5 stars. This most recent visit unfortunately merits only 3 stars. The first time I came, we ordered way too much food. Wings, an Emmy burger to split, and a Colony pizza. But that burger was sheer deliciousness and sheer gluttony, and has been on my list of top burgers ever since. This most recent time, we played it safe and ordered just the Emmy burger and a Brender pizza. The burger came out somewhat lukewarm to almost cold, as it had been sitting around for a bit. Unfortunately that really takes away from the experience. The flavors of the burger were still there, but the meat was overcooked and did not have that juiciness, and the burger overall was quite greasy. The pizza was similarly underwhelming. This is my first time having a pizza with vodka sauce, and honestly I couldn't taste the difference. I found the sauce to be pretty bland and would never have guessed this was a pink pizza. Also, the pepperoni was extremely salty. After a few bites, all I could taste was salt. I'm still rooting for this place and someday I'll return and try another burger, but after this experience it's gonna be a while before I come back. read more

Dear Emily. I am obsessed. People the food here is soo delicious. My cousin and I came here for dinner on a Friday night. We ordered the burger to share and the famous original dan's pizza. As for the pizza-I wanted seconds, thirds, fourths and so on lol I was nervous it would be on like the very burnt side but no no they proved me wrong. It was crispy and doughy at the same time.
