One of my favorite places! I like going here for lunch during the week, easy dinner after work, or brunch on the weekend. $11 for a buffet style brunch that is very good!! For lunch or dinner foods, I would say the fish tacos are my favorite (they are 3 huge tacos!) and the nachos are great too. I love the feel of the restaurant (clean and casual). Typical gazillionith "Irish" pub/restaurant in Chicagoland. The barman was Irish indeed but lacking a personality other than asking us if we wanted more drink in a frosty sort-of manner. He never bothered to chat or say hello at any point in time. I was initially on my own and it would have been nice to have a friendly person behind the bar. Otherwise I would have sat at a table for a regular ole waitron. Actually, the waitresses seemed more personable. The menu looked like the same ole faire that we could've gotten at corporate Fado so we went somewhere else after a couple of drinks. Disappointing to say the least. read more

I was at the Emerald Loop last Thursday night and had a great experience! The service was superb from start to finish and the food was tasty as well! I ordered the turkey hummus wrap which was nice and light (just what I was looking for). My boyfriend ordered the cowboy ribeye which he very much enjoyed. The ribeye took up the entire plate so the sides had to come on their own plate. I would definitely return to the Emerald Loop again, especially if I were heading to the Chicago Theater seeing that it is right around the corner from there. read more

Emerald Loop helped out our group on short notice when another pub cancelled my reservation for the night before St. Patrick's without any notice. I had seen Emerald Loop many times, but had never gone inside. Doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's a nice pub inside a great old building and they have great food as well. The food was ok, with interesting options. The reality is that the food took an hour and three additional request after the order had been placed before we recieved our food.. No apology, but our waiter made an excuse of, "I don't speak Mexican, they were pointing. " Or waiter did nothing to make things better and continued to ignore us. Sign said open at 9:00am Sunday, waited and waited, even the employee tried to get in and could'nt. She called to ask them to open the doors and they still didnt! Finally got in a 9:20am. Buffet food was ice cold. Tried to order bloody mary's but the waitress said the bartender doesnt come in until 10:00, sign clearly says $6.00 bloody mary's from 9:00 - 2:00. When checks were brought the waitress came back and said we needed to use debit cards as she didnt have enough cash to break the $20.00 bills given. Asked where the manager was and she said he isnt here either. This was one of the worst experience I have had. Cant believe that place is still in business with such lack of management and committment by employees. read more

Typically, I love this place. I had gone in twice and it was great both times. Earlier this week, my friend and I ordered it for delivery. It has a $7 delivery fee, but we've always loved it, so we thought it would be worth it. The delivery wasn't overly late, but when the food came, it was cold. I had to microwave my burger and by doing that, it was overcooked. My friend also had to warm up their macaroni and cheese. My burger was not good, overcooked, and hard to eat. Neither of us finished our meals and were left disappointed. It's a shame since this place can be so great. For a delivery fee that is so high, perhaps serving it warm would be nice. read more

It started with being left alone at the host stand after watching a family of three get checked in and seated that I was standing behind of. Clearly I was not with them --- looks were obvious. After having heartless service (as a solo diner) might I add, it took 5 minutes for water only to be told who my server will be, another 5 minutes to ask a Manager for my server and no one asking me how my meal (Bison Burger with bleu cheese) was... I have to say I'm disappointed and felt my attendance as a diner was not appreciate and sadly overlooked. It takes a sense of comfort and confidence to go out to a restaurant and enjoy your own company while having a meal. It's truly heartbreaking when the restaurant's team doesn't push the welcome, acknowledgement, and commitment of service to single diners as they would a large party having a big check at the end of the meal. I too, work in the industry and understand the importance of communication and the attention that must be given to single guests who dine. When I asked for the check, the manager was kind enough to give me a 25% discount for the poor service I had to endure. I felt laughed at, to pay for my poor service. My bill would have been $19.00 roughly. A sensible comp in the industry, a "we want you to come back in the future" gesture. But no. They say pain isn't cheap. read more

My boyfriend and I loved this place. We went on a Saturday night before heading to lucky strike later for some bowling. This place really hit the spot. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Mac N Cheese, which I will no doubt order again. My boyfriend got the brisket plate with mashed potatoes and it just melted in the mouth. Don't tell my mom but it was almost as delicious as hers. It wasn't too busy for a Saturday night, but still had a decent crowd. A lot of TVs and a nice sized bar. Second time here and the second time my card was charged more than what I have signed off on. OK, so you added the minimum 18% gratuity even though the receipt was just for my wife and I, and the group was over 8 people. This should have been pointed out in advance since the area was reserved for 20-25 people - but sure I can understand that. I thought the waitress even did a decent job, not great, but decent. Could have been great if she didn't keep disappearing even though there were literally no other patrons in the place. So I add a little more - OK, well now it's little pricey since we're looking at $60+ bill for 5 drinks. OK whatever. Look at my bank account a few days later and they decided to tack on a few more mystery dollars onto my bill. WTF Emerald?! I thought we were boys. I even kicked in a little extra and you're reaching into my pocket as I'm handing it to you! And this is the second time this shite has happen. Granted - it was only $2-3 more than what I signed on the receipt (after the 18% and after the extra I put on top of that), but it's the mother fracking principle of the matter!! I really wanted to like this place - I really did, but after 2 strikes in a row of this petty tipping shite given the 'meh service and dead eye host who acted like I was inconveniencing him when I asked where the wash room is located (give up dude - the hostess was obviously not into you and she rolled her eyes so hard that it gave ME a scalp cramp), this place is dead to me. Would have been nice to have a somewhat late-night place to head to in the Loop, but at this point I rather clean my ear with a dental hook. read more

I stopped in here on a rainy Friday night. Although I was seated immediately, the rest of my experience was downhill. At least 10 minutes before anyone brought water (and this was not due to an overcrowded restaurant), my entire order was messed up, and the food was the worst I've had in all of Chicago. I had the Burrata salad which was the only edible thing. My mom had the French onion soup which came with a giant plop of unnecessary bread and cheese on top and loaded with salt. We shared the fish tacos which were truly disgusting. The fish was covered in thick batter that was gooey and the topping had a weird spice that was the entire thing really just gross. We also ordered the bacon flat bread which seemed like it had made a few days ago and reheated in the microwave. Took another 10 minutes for the waitress to notice we wanted our check after we were finished with horrible meal. Do yourself a favor a go ANYWHERE else in Chicago to eat. read more

The decor and food were decent, and the beer list is quite nice, but last night I had possibly the worst server experience I've ever had. Our server was a sullen middle-aged woman and she made it plainly obvious that she had no interest in being there and that we were some sort of imposition. She actually started to walk away and leave before everyone at our table had put in their drink order and we had to call her back to complete it. Our food was slow to come out (probably about half an hour after we ordered it) and when it finally did we had to hunt her down to get sauces and drink refills for our table. I don't blame her for the time it took to get the food, since we overheard the other waiter warning customers that it was busy and it would take awhile, but it would have been nice if she had said that to us as well, instead of just being surly the entire time. To top the evening off she brought the check over 15 minutes after we asked for it. I found this really disappointing, because I really like the food and the atmosphere and think this would have been a really good experience with a different server, but I would definitely hesitate to go back if I thought we would end up with her again. read more

I love coming to Chicago because I think Chicago sets the standards for food quality and service. Although the restaurant/pub was very inviting inside and certainly hopping, the food and service were - meh. The food was average at best. It is a convenient location and open late, which is great. I ordered a salad and margharita pizza. Both were decent, but nothing I would rush back for. We like to come to the city and try new restaurants to find our favorites. I would not go out of my way to eat here again. The next morning we tried their breakfast buffet. Meh. It was decent, and at 9.99, a good value certainly, but the omelet station was never manned. We had to ask for someone to find someone to make us an omelet. We had 2 differen waitresses - one Fri evening, one Sat morn. Neither were friendly, both seemed like they'd rather be somewhere else. This place was ok, but certainly not one we will return to on future visits. read more
