Usually I'm disappointed by airport restaurants. But to my surprise, Elway's was as if we were not in the Denver airport at all. We were there for breakfast and went with the steak and eggs. Eggs were perfectly fried sunnyside up and the steak had a nice char on the outside and was perfectly med rare. Everything was seasoned properly. The coffee was strong and tasty. For my wife they had a little too much pepper. I thought they were perfectly seasoned myself. I had the eggs benedict and the hollandaise sauce was not only perfect, it was a perfect amount. Super excited to try this place because of the reviews and the service leading up to us going. We had a large group of 12 of us and we had a lot of changes in the restaurant was so incredibly accommodating the service once we got there was fabulous. The wine was excellent. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the quality of the steak. A bit tough to cut through and not terribly tasty. The lobster tail was OK. The wedge salad was wonderful. I ended up having a very small portion of the state because it just wasn't that great unfortunately. Elway's does it again! As many times as I've used DIA to fly out of, I usually don't have time to grab breakfast at Elway's or they're closed depending on time of morning. I didn't need to wait long when I gave my name to the hostess for a table. I probably waited about 5-10 minutes for a table. After I was seated, it didn't take long for my waitress to take my order. I like how she stopped by my table to let me know that she would be with me, prior to grabbing my drink order. She came across as professional and caring. The restaurant was clean and had a pleasant ambiance. There were plenty of patrons eating breakfast on the morning I visited. However, it wasn't that noisy. I ordered a black coffee, omelette with fresh fruit along with a homemade biscuit. I loved the plate they served alongside my main entree. This long plate had fresh butter, jam and ketchup. Omelette was delicious. Eggs weren't over or under cooked. I was impressed with how fresh the fruit was. I also very much enjoyed the homemade biscuit. I slapped the fresh butter and jam on it. They also give you plenty of butter and jam. The meal was a bit pricey but worth it. I would have breakfast again at Elway's when flying out of DIA. I've been wanting to try their breakfast. My first time at my favorite QB's establishment, probably the nicest looking airport restaurant I've been to. They have replica Lombardi trophies and other memorabilia on display. I was seated immediately, it was about 75% full. The service was professional and friendly. I tried the Colorado burger with green chilis and over easy egg. The bun was slightly dry. It was medium well but I ordered medium. The side of shoestring fries was large and tasty but $11 seems a little steep to add on top of $26 for the burger. You'll see the "Rhode Island" calamari preparation includes olives, deep fried olives. Don't be put off by that, they're actually complimentary to the calamari itself. It all goes together nicely. For a number of reasons Elway's just did not do it for me. YELP SHORT ANSWER: maybe there is another option, kind of just average and way expensive. Location: Great location. Buildout: Very nice except on the patio where I was sat, looking at peoples butts waiting in line while they watched me eat. I get it cram them in and sell them expensive food and up-sale the drinks and dessert, it kind of felt like that and probably is what it is. So yesterday. Menu: Pretty standard and limited at this location, I ordered a Smash Burger $22.50 and they had famous ribs on the menu at $52.00 and wow! this place must be outstanding but not dropping $52.00 on just ribs. You order sides separately if you want them. Food Prep: Below average for a stand alone burger and pasta salad in a bowl. Food Quality: There was no smash happening here. Not sure they have ever eaten or cooked a real smash burger but this was anything but. It was a giant 1 inch thick hunk of tasteless beef hopelessly stuck between two defenseless buns. You make up your own burger, mayo, ketchup, mustard, tomato, onions, and some browning lettuce and then you attempt to eat it. I would expect quality over volume at those prices but it looks like they think people want the opposite and want to mindlessly stuff their faces. Waitstaff: Excellent and hard to watch as I am sure they get beat up for food quality expectations not being met and the cost of the meal. I tipped well as waiter was amazing and I think he knew the meal sucked but not his fault, he did his job. Food delivery time was great considering the turn at this place. Overall Value: Little to none, and the $22.50 wannabe a smash burger was a mess in a bad way. Bun broke apart, meat was cooked to colour but was three times too thick and tasteless, Overall I could hardly eat it and left half for the sharks in the end zone. As far as the brand, I guess people like me are curious but IMHO it is a celebrity using their brand to open a business and then it becomes something not so great but not something the celebrity can fix on their own thus degrading their amazing brand. Fabulous place for breakfast! The food was great - we shared the French toast, and the traditional breakfast with perfectly cooked eggs over medium, and a nice portion of potatoes and excellent, crispy bacon! The French toast came with a nice half a cup+ of fruit that was not your usual fruit cup: strawberries, nice grapes, & raspberries! The coffee is excellent, as are the biscuits (which was surprising)! The ambience is lovely and upscale for airport dining... But the service! We had Shane as our server, and he was hands-down, outstanding. One of the best service experiences we've had in ANY restaurant - he was kind, funny, attentive without being helicopter-ish, and everything was perfectly timed. Ok there are not a lot of decent options at Denver International for a decent meal, Elway is probably my go to even though it's overpriced. I've been plenty of times I always know if nothing else I'll have a good cocktail this time the server I had was lousy, that is a hit or miss. I have had better server's before. I got a burger that was lukewarm and sorta like Shake Shack but worse and with a half hour wait. I got a pretty flat Coors Light. The best thing about this place is the lighting, the friendly staff and the Vince Lombardi trophy on display. There is a small wait to be seated, however bar seating is first come first serve which is nice. I had a connecting flight here so I decided to reward this weary traveler with some good food. Boy was I pleased! I ordered their salmon with a side of grilled asparagus and mash potatoes. First off, allow me to say the salmon was cooked to perfection. It was one of the best salmon I've had in recent memory, I took the chefs recommendation of cooked medium. The sides too...wow...I devoured everything. The mash especially was a standout, had that perfect creamy thickness. And to top it off, I got me a cup of coffee and cheesecake. Again both just set me just right.
