Lobster Ravioli at Elm & Magnolia, courtesy of Chef Joe.

Chef Joe is the culinary maestro at Elm & Magnolia. All his creations are nirvana for your palate and his nightly specials are, well, always special! Ask for Jason, our Rock Star server! And tell Chef Joe and his lovely wife, Maria, that the Mad Sausage King sent you

Perfect weather for this patio!

My friend and I came for brunch on Saturday. We had such a pleasant experience. The weather was a perfect spring day with a really nice fresh breeze! We ordered the island juice mimosas- suggested by Sabrina who we absolutely loved! For the food we ordered the Duck plate, Chicken & waffles, and a salad. Both were tasty!! We moved to a rosé which Sabrina ended bagging for us to take home. We also had a nice conversation with Zay. The entire staff here is awesome! I would recommend this place. Beautiful outdoor setting. It will be nice to catch the live music sometime!

Joe the owner and head chef should be working with Gordon Ramsay! The food at Elm is beyond fabulous! The ambiance is cozy and always appropriate, with live music on weekends. The staff are attentive and friendly. Jason (bartender) is the bomb, as is Danielle-a fantastic server at Elm. The menu features affordable yet high end selections. You wiill not be disappointed!

This place is a hidden gem. The service was amazing and super friendly. I felt like I was back home at a local spot. The lobster ravioli did not disappoint. I was worried it would be too heavy but it was not at all. There were local patrons who clearly love the place. The outdoor space looked amazing, would be great when the weather permits.

If you're looking to experience dining in an authentic Texas town this is it. It's away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I went for brunch on Sunday morning when they first opened. They have a few items on the brunch menu, but you can order for the main menu. I tried the chicken and waffles. It was alright: one of the tenders were cold in the middle.. it was pretty new on their menu so maybe they hadn't gotten it yet. Aside from that they were very tender and juicy! They have $6 mimosas and "the set up" which is $25 for a bottle of champagne and orange juice. They have a large field with games where kids can play, and a stage for live bands.

Super cute, quaint lil spot in Old Town Spring. You can tell that the chef takes pride in everything he puts on a plate. So many good dishes to choose from. They also make great drinks at the bar.

Me and hubs enjoyed a light dinner here. Everything was very flavorful (especially the crispy duck which was devoured before we snapped a pic). We liked the ambiance.. the older crowd (everyone appeared 37+) was refreshing and the folky music was nice. Service was a bit slow but we enjoyed the change of pace. This isn't fast food. Will definitely be returning.

Bottomless mimosas

Wow! Brunch is a must here! My new favorite place in Old Town Spring! $6 mimosas, or, best yet...$25 gets you the entire bottle of brut champagne and a carafe of your favorite juice! (Orange, pineapple, cranberry, etc). The crabcake Benedict's were to die for, and the southwest version has the perfect blend of tangy (Hollandaise sauce) and savory (feta cheese). Ask for a side of bread, which is served warm and with creamy garlic butter...can't be beat. Lovely outdoor seating, reasonable prices, huge portions and amazing presentation. I'll be back!

Our waiter was excellent and gave solid recommendations. I ordered the blueberry margarita and it was sooo good--sweet, refreshing, and definitely a win. Our waiter suggested the smokehouse platter to share, and we added an order of truffle fries. Let me just say... those truffle fries were AMAZING. Thick-cut, crispy, and full of flavor--hands down the best thing on the table. The smokehouse platter was more than enough food for two people. The brisket sliders were tender and flavorful, the wings were great, the pickled peppers were a nice touch, and the ribs were finger-licking good. The only downside was the potato skins--they were just meh compared to everything else. Overall, great food, great service, and a really nice atmosphere. I would definitely go back, especially for a date night or casual dinner.

The place is inside a hotel but has access from both outside and inside the hotel lobby. SERVICE: We sat at the bar, received our menus and asked for two coffees, which never came. A while later, a different server/bartender asked if you want drinks we requested a coffee again. We had to request various items multiple times from multiple people before they were actually brought over to us. No big deal, we weren't in any particular rush, but have you ever gotten that feeling like you're bothering the server every time you ask for something? That was that feeling. I was still eating when we were handed our check. We paid. We were planning on staying for mimosas after eating, so we asked for 2 mimosas we were handed our drinks with a check. Again, the place was not busy, to the extent that the staff was hanging out and talking in a group. (That doesn't bother me, we all deserve some adult conversation.) We felt in the way so we paid and decided to go elsewhere for some mimosas. FOOD: I had the waffle with a side of bacon. Waffle was served warm, crisp & soft as a waffle should be. It was nice and thick and a great size, plus it was delicious! I couldn't finish it, I was soo full! The pecan butter was scrumptious and the berries were fresh and sweet. Both in great proportion to the waffle. The bacon was crispy and served warm. Overall a delicious and plentiful breakfast. CLEANLINESS: The place was clean, clean. The bar, general restaurant area and bathrooms were all spic & span.

Cafe & Saloon was one of those places that completely exceeded expectations…read more I'm rarely out in Old Town Spring, but I was in the area picking up a piece of metal art for my patio and wanted to take my mom and brother somewhere unique that we don't have in Katy. A quick Google search brought this place up first with 4.9 stars, which is practically unheard of these days, so we decided to try it. Wow. What a meal. We started with the onion ring basket and a half order of beer bread. The onion rings were fantastic--huge, thick-cut rings with a wonderfully seasoned batter that actually had flavor instead of tasting flat or bland. Served piping hot, which matters to me because I like my food HOT. The ranch dressing was a great addition, too. The beer bread was decent. You could definitely taste the beer, but it wasn't the best loaf I've ever had. Mom, Mark, and I all ordered the grilled ribeye steak sandwich. I'm the only one who got it as designed on the menu. I originally expected more of a slab-of-steak sandwich, but it was actually closer to a Philly cheesesteak style sandwich, which honestly I prefer. Mom and Mark skipped the peppers, onions, garlic aioli, and pepper jack cheese in favor of lettuce, tomato, and mayo instead. Our waiter, Evan, was wonderful! He was friendly, attentive, accommodating, and clearly proud of the restaurant. He even offered to tell us the history of the building and restaurant, which added so much to the experience. The story is also printed on the back of the menu, and it's definitely worth reading. Evan mentioned he's only been there a few months, but he is absolutely an asset to the restaurant as a server. My brother Mark is blind and autistic, and it's honestly not often a server addresses him directly. They usually look to mom or me and ask, "What does he want?," but Evan asked Mark directly. Kudos to him. We had to finish the meal with the historical whiskey chocolate cake, and I'm glad we did. It's served warm with whipped cream on the side, caramel sauce drizzled across the plate, and pecans on top. Absolutely delicious and huge! There were four of us who shared it, and it was more than enough for each of us. Also worth mentioning: the sweet potato fries are an extra $4 but absolutely worth it. These are NOT frozen Ore-Ida fries dumped from a bag. They're clearly fresh cut and homemade, and they were delicious. For nearly two o'clock in the afternoon, the place was packed--at least three-quarters full--and the entire atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Everyone we encountered was friendly. I live in Katy, so Old Town Spring is definitely not nearby for me, but I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone in the area or just passing through. It's easy to see why people love it. A definite five-star experience for us!

-The WORST I have ever been treated by a business-…read more I have been on this planet for almost 37 years now and have never been talked to, policed by, treated-as-poorly or had my integrity insulted by a business like I was this evening. The premise is simple - if the party does not pay to have bar service then NO alcohol is to be on the premises. (All-good at face value. After all, they are a business and protecting themselves.) What was NOT good was how they went about policing people coming into the party (going as far as to check inside of new arrivals trunks to check for alcohol! I'm sorry, are you the police?) The bartender actually went as far as to - literally here folks - RIP a bag of liquors out of my hands while I was on the phone with my wife. (Uhh...EXCUSE ME?! Assault people much?) This was not the end of our playful trysts of the evening. When we asked her to have the booze back so we could keep it sealed and place it into our locked vehicles, she said that she couldn't do that due to the fact that the business couldn't monitor alcohol outside of the bar. "OK, well - that's my property and I'm going to go put it in my vehicle (again, also my property), where it can stay put and remain unopened." Again, she said she couldn't do that. "So, you're saying that I cannot have my property back?" "Yes sir. I'm sorry, but that is our policy - we simply do not have the staff available to follow individuals around the whole night to make sure they are complying with our policy." "OK! So then can you apologize for acting so rudely and unprofessionally, as to actually remove the bag from my possession while I'm having a conversation with my wife on the phone?! Or, is it too much for me to ask for an additional apology for insulting my integrity?" "Sir, I don't know why you are getting upset and rude with me." At this point I turn to my co-worker beside me and give him the look. [Um, I don't remember calling her any names or yelling or otherwise throwing a tantrum. I've been very calm and understanding up until this point.] "Ma'am, obviously there's been a miscommunication. But we're not being rude with you or upset, although now I'm beginning to become upset." Long story short, we talked with the head of our party, who spoke with the manager. Stephanie, the manager, gave permission for the alcohol to be moved into the bridal suite where there is a refrigerator. I then proceeded to move said liquor to the bridal suite. ---Fast forward 1 hour later--- Well the ceremony is done and it's a hot day. I'm headed over to the bridal suite to have a quick cocktail - not to leave the suite of course! - Only to find out that they had come back into the suite and...get this; STOLEN the liquor!!! No notice. No 'Hey, by the way, we needed to move the liquor in your suite for whatever lame excuse I can come up with.' NOTHING. I swear. It took everything I had at the end of the night not to throw a bottle through a plate glass window! The nerve of these people! I don't know how you could expect someone to have a decent experience when you treat your guests with such blatant disrespect!! So on the hospitality scale, I would give this place a -10. However, I'm sure that if you opt-in for the open bar then you'll have a good time. Provided no one in your party actually has to deal with the snooty-brat-turned-bartender; or has any civil misunderstanding with management. By the way, the view is fantastic! :)
