My husband and I dined at Eli's table on Friday evening. It was an amazing experience. Sat at the bar and had the best service on the planet from Billy Reilly. We loved sitting at the end of the bar where we could see the street traffic. It felt like you were outside but the inside vibe was even more entertaining! We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. And the people watching was phenomenal. Billy made our evening so memorable and we adored chatting with the server Raymond, who was hilarious. His southern accent cracked me up!! We were treated like family from the minute, we sat down. We arrived a few minutes before opening, at 9:00 a.m. we did not require a reservation but we had one! Our server happily let us take a table while she finished getting the restaurant set up for opening. We did not order brunch cocktails but got right to the breakfast part. I had the wild mushroom omelette with grits. My spouse had the Southern omelette with breakfast potatoes. By the time our food arrived there were several other tables that had already gotten theirs, which I found was odd because we were the first ones in the place. But the plates arrived eventually, a very simple presentation with zero garnish. The mushroom omelette had spinach , gruyere cheese and a nice variety of fungi . The grits were extremely creamy and when I inquired the server informed me they had heavy cream and Gouda cheese in them. They were delicious and rich, but you might want to mention this dairy to people before they order. The Southern omelette included breakfast sausage, peppers, onions, cheddar cheese and he really enjoyed it. The breakfast potatoes appeared to be little batter coated cubes from a freezer bag, dropped in the deep fryer and then thrown on the plate. If these are homemade I would be surprised. Husband didn't even finish them. Overall it was a reasonably priced breakfast and quality was good, but this restaurant has a little ways to go to satisfy the foodie in me. read more

I have been waiting to go to this place for so long and it's so good! Their Gouda fondue is perfection. I also loved my shrimp and grits. We were celebrating and Carson are waitress brought complimentary champagne. She was so on top of it, attentive, friendly and hard working she really made our experience. St. Patrick's Day was my one year anniversary with my wonderful boyfriend, Eli. Eli really wanted to try out this restaurant, Eli's Table, since he's never been. He called ahead a day in advance to make us a reservation for the night of our anniversary. We pull up and park right in front of the restaurant, street parking. A man opens my door and holds out his hand to help me out of the car. We walk in and they said we could sit wherever we wanted. We were literally the only people eating here this Tuesday night. The reason why? It was the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic. The lockdown restrictions had not yet been put in place but everyone was too scared to go out to eat anyway. I'm fearless. I was happy to be out to eat. I am appreciative that this restaurant stayed open, seemingly just for us on this night. Our server was very nice. He took our drink orders. He gave us some time to review the menu and then took our dinner order. I ordered the shrimp and grits. It didn't take long for our food to come out. My shrimp and grits were delightful. It came with 5 large shrimp that still had their tails. After dinner, we asked about dessert. Our server said they do not have a dessert menu because they change their dessert options every night. He then told us our options. I chose some kind of chocolate cake they had. We almost ordered another dessert too, for Eli, but the server said that my dessert would be plenty for both of us. It was. It was a huge portion, a small cake. The whole experience was great. I really appreciate Eli's Table staying open to serve us on our anniversary during these crazy times. The food was excellent. My family and I had a great experience eating at Eli's today! We were in Charleston waiting for some of us to catch a flight, before the rest continued on a long road trip home. We were a group of 5 ( plus a dog ) without a reservation. We were so pleased with the smiling faces, and quick seating not often given to a walk-in table of five. We were quickly accomodated on the outdoor patio. We were a little nervous due to a bit of a time crunch and less than stellar planing, but thanks to the great service, it was no problem. Our cold drinks were kept fresh and filled, and all the food was delivered piping hot, quickly.. oh, and it was delicious! I wasn't originally thinking of coming to Eli's Table, but all the cards aligned for me to come here. First of all, Poogan's Porch happened to be doing renovations (Boo....). Secondly, most of the brunch spots were closing around 2pm, but Eli's Table stays open for a bit longer. Thirdly, their menu seemed great for the price that were offering, so I gladly went inside to check it out. I had a proper Southern brunch with shrimp & grits, fried green tomatoes, crabcake and biscuits. All of which were delicious. FRIED GREEN TOMATOES I do like tomatoes and the green tomatoes taste just like any other tomato. But the appealing part of this appetizer was the sauce. I never knew balsamic and a spaghetti-like sauce meshed so well together. It was a pleasant surprise. SHRIMP GRITS/CRABCAKE BENEDICT Both dishes came with potatoes, so we had a whole lot of potatoes. The shrimp grits and crab cakes are equally delicious. I wished there was more of each on the plate. It left me wanting more... HOMEMADE BISCUITS I expect the biscuits to be small regular sized biscuits, but to my surprise, it was fairly big. It was enough to top off our stomach. This was our first meal in Charleston! We chose this place because it offered local cuisine items, was relatively close to one of our tours, and was able to accommodate a large party on short notice. Like everywhere else in Charleston, parking is found on the street and can be time consuming to find. They were quick to seat us and prepare our dishes as we had let them know we were rushing to our next tour. The interior was pretty clean and charming but the water stains on the ceiling made it feel more dated. I ordered: Eli's Lunch w/ Chicken (4/5): This dish was pretty flavorful overall but definitely on the saltier side, and this was true for the rest of the dishes my family ordered. The chicken was cooked thoroughly and I liked the mustard seed vinaigrette drizzled over everything. I'm not the biggest fan of zucchini but these were crisp and paired well with the chicken. Super cozy spot for breakfast. Indoor and outdoor seating (outdoors feels like your at a French cafe in Paris). Can't rave enough about how professional, courteous, and friendly the staff were. They all take their jobs very seriously but don't come off stuffy at all. The food was prepared quickly and we were always checked in on. They have a homemade berry mix jam (raspberry, blueberry, strawberry) that pairs perfectly with the sweeter tasting butter they have. Normally I don't pay too much attention to reviews about service as long as the food is good but I wish I would have for Eli's. This was the worst service my fiancé and I have ever had, we can't even call it service. At first we thought it was our waiter's first day but looking at reviews, he's been here for awhile. We had to ask for everything. We had to ask him to take our order, if our drinks were coming, if our food was coming, etc; he came over to ask our order several times because he didn't write it down and kept forgetting. He did not check on us, we had to wave him down every time. It was not busy and he would just be standing off to the side doing nothing. We clarified the risotto we ordered after he mumbled through the ingredients and were still brought the wrong one and it was completely tasteless. When we told him we ordered the other kind, he said this was the one we ordered and left. No questions, no concern. The whole experience was just bizarre, almost like we were being pranked. We did love the prosciutto and fig crostini and the steak was good. Due to the lack of ambiance and horrible service, we won't be back. The manager was yelling at employees, the kitchen was out of multiple menu items/beverages/even utensils, all of the food was over seasoned and the potions were much smaller than the last time we visited. Everything was so delicious and filling. During our second visit, we started off with the mussels and escargot. I personally didn't love the escargot but my boyfriend absolutely love them. When it comes to brunch choices in Charleston there so many famous places but watch out for Eli's table is set as an under rated gem in the heart of the city. The decor is what you'd expect out of the historic French quarter. The service was superb, very attentive for a bustling brunch spot. The beingets were airy, crispy and had a chewy center. The house made jam makes it definite contender for one of the best outside of New Orleans. The chicken and sweet potato waffles were disappointing, the chicken was dry and the waffles were just so sad looking. Flavor wise though, the cinnamon butter and sweet potato went well together. The star was the crab and eggs! The crab cake had a nice crust but soft and moist on the inside. The egg complimented the crab but really the medley of seasoned potato, runny egg and crab was amazing. Eli's table has made me a fan, definitely adding to my must return to places in Charleston. read more

We had a nice lunch here. They were very accommodating as we had my grandson with us. We made a reservation and had to call and say we'd be late and it was not a problem. The fried chicken was a little well done and it was a thin piece. The waffle was not crispy but still good. There were some bacon pieces. Syrup was already on them and I wish I could have done that myself as I would have had less. This dish was a great combination. I like the taste. My daughter had a grilled cheese and she liked it.
