I went to Eli's for breakfast on my latest visit to Charleston. The breakfast was good and reasonably priced. However, the service was lacking. From the time I sat down, I felt very rushed. Since it was my first visit, I wanted to look over the menu. The server kept coming over trying to get me to place an order. When he was at my table, he acted like he couldn't wait to leave. It's hard to explain, but it definitely affected my opinion. If they had good service, I would have probably given Eli's 4 stars. read more

My wife and I intended on going to a sister bed and breakfast to the one we are staying at for breakfast. After taking a Lyft car there, we found it to be permanently closed. We walked for a bit and stumbled into Eli's. the wait staff was impeccable. They say us immediately. The waiter, who was polite and well mannered enough to serve a king, was very attentive and knowledgeable. I ordered a ship and grit cake eggs Benedict with potatoes, my ordered eggs, bacon, grits, and a biscuit. It was higher priced that we would normally do for breakfast, but everything was spot on. I would pay twice that for a meal of that quality and such fine service. The eighties music didn't really fit the scene, but it was fun none the less. We ate here for the first time this weekend. It's a cute little restaurant with a French southern influence. I had the crab and eggs meal which was delicious! The food came out in a timely manner and the service was great. The menu selection is really good and my friends loved their dishes too (shrimp and grits Benedict and the salmon tartine). The only complaint is that a glass of mimosa is $10, which to me is far too high for the size of the glass. But other than that I would definitely go back! read more

I think there are a lot of adorable and great places for food in the area and this one just didn't stand out for me. If you are looking for something reliable with a good menu, this is a great place but if you are looking for some real Charleston gems, I would go elsewhere. read more

My breakfast was delicious I thought until my boyfriend found a hair in his food. He stopped eating immediately, but I was so hungry I just stopped eating my potatoes.( which is where we found the hair) Not sure if it was good b/c i was hungry or b/c it was delicious. The manager did apologize but i feel as if they could've done a better job to make him not upset about it. The service was also mediocre. I saw some people with other waiters that were much more enthusiastic rather than ours. She wasn't very attentive to our needs considering it wasnt very busy. read more

Every mouthful was exquisite at Eli's Table this evening. The mushrooom ragout and sauteed greens were extraordinary, so much so that I'll order them again when we're there tomorrow! Visiting charleston for the first time I stumbled upon eli's after a morning run, this was the best discovery of the weekend! Not only was the brunch outstanding but my server Austin made my morning being in town for a couple days alone it was refreshing to laugh away the brunch with him. I loved it so much I had to bring my friends back the next day and we were lucky enough to enjoy Austin as our server again! Entered and was told we could have immediate seating by the host. Another host came up and said it would be a twenty minute wait. There were ten tables out of thirty that were available. We stepped outside to wait. After 30 minutes, we stepped in to see if the wait time had somehow changed and were rudely told that the "kitchen can't be hurried". Of course, we were simply asking for clarification. By the time we had waited thirty minutes, we knew we would have at least a thirty minute wait any where else we went and it was prime lunch time. We waited another thirty minutes and finally gave up. Message to the staff...be honest to those coming into your doors in search of a good meal and you can avoid negative reviews. Your food looked good, but you were untruthful and rude and because of that don't deserve patrons who would write glowing reviews. We have been here several times. It is our go-to spot for breakfast at least once during every trip to Charleston. The beignets are some of the best weve had! The berry dipping sauce is amazing! (Second to the Frontier in Chicago.) The breakfast foods are delicious! The service is always fast! Even during a visit with a rather large party, there was hardly. wait at all. Highly recommended! I am giving 4 stars because the service was wonderfully friendly and warm and they had a children's menu. We sat outside and enjoyed the warm summer evening listening to live jazz. We did not get entrees due to the fact that we over indulged at lunch. My husband and I ordered 2 apps...the fried green tomatoes(yum! ) and the tuna tartare. Both were good. We also got salads which were kinda underwhelming. I wish I had skipped the salad and had ordered one of their cocktails that sounded very delicious. read more

We visit Charleston on a monthly basis and seem to always overlook this wonderful quiet place right on meeting street a block away from the market. Oh what a mistake on our part. We stopped in for brunch on a Saturday - we had our shitzu with us so we sat at a table under their covered courtyard. Wife had sweet potato pancakes and I had an open face ham and Brie sandwich with fried green tomatoes on a croissant with Hollandaise sauce and homemade potato salad. Both dishes were incredible. Breakfast and lunch are served until 2 o'clock on weekends. They brought a bowl of water and treats for our dog. Since it was technically after noon, I indulged myself with a bacon infused vodka Bloody Mary served with olive, cucumber and a slice of crispy bacon and a rich non-salt seasoning on the rim of the glass. Perfect compliment to the meal. Highly recommended. Moderate price. Staff was great. We will be back. read more

Our second morning in Charleston, we decided to try another highly rated restaurant just a few blocks from our hotel. While not as crowded as the other places we ate, the food was good and the staff was pretty attentive and reasonably friendly. For breakfast, we went for the Eli's Breakfast and Sweet Potato Pancakes with the usual accompaniment of coffee and orange juice. Some of the items in my wife's breakfast--I'm looking at you, sausage--were a bit overcooked, but my Sweet Potato Pancakes were fantastic. And I don't even like sweet potatoes! Only positive things to say about my experience at Eli's Table! A group of friends came to Charleston to celebrate the future bride-to-be and wanted to start our night out on the town with a nice dinner. The maître d and our server at Eli's Table were extremely hospitable and courteous to our large group. The food was delicious - I ordered the salmon and it was cooked to perfection - and the restaurant had an extensive wine/ cocktail menu. Small and quaint on one side where the bar is which was my style a larger room on the other side. Eli's Table is a fancy looking restaurant from the outside with nice tiny tables and clean cloths and napkins. Despite what it looks it's actually a pretty affordable restaurant with very reasonable prices. Around $9-15 average (but I'm talking about breakfast and lunch though, I don't know about dinner). Average waiting time is around 30 minutes but we got there early, like 9:15am for breakfast so we didn't have to wait to get seated. It gets busy around 10am. I got their Red Rice Hash with smoked sausages and two easy over eggs. It needed more seasoning and the rice wasn't cooked well. My boyfriend got their shrimps and grits Benedict. I wish I ordered his dish instead cause their poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the shrimps were plump. Can't say the same about the grits because I've had better. The potatoes at the side were very tasty though! For dessert we ordered the praline French toast. It was good! I personally liked he condensada at the side and the sweet butter praline and nuts! Service was really nice and friendly. But all in all it just didn't really appeal so much to me. It wasn't that bad to give it a 2/5 and it's not that good either to give Eli's a 4/5 read more

I hope we caught them on an off night but this was a disaster. An hour after being seated we had been served a single round of water. Then within 25 minutes our appetizer, salad & main courses were served. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for the wait. We shared the signature fried green tomatoes which were more sauce than anything else. The beet salad had a reasonable amount of beets, a small sprinkle of arugula and a huge scoop of feta. My risotto was barely better than a bag of frozen rice & veggies. My husband ordered the signature duck & waffles. He found the duck fine but the waffles reminded him of a Hampton inn breakfast bar. My daughter's chicken was so dry she couldn't eat it, there was nothing wrong with her sides but there was nothing special about them either. My 15 year old son enjoyed his filet. This seemed to be the vibe of the night. We watched another table served their main without the starters or salads being brought out. The waiter just offered to bring them out after the main when the gentleman pointed it out. We had chatted with party next to us before being seated and during our wait. Their starter came out before the hour of nothing settled in. Their dinners were served after we'd finished but as we were leaving they were sending back a plate. Never was an apology or explanation offered. We hope they were short staffed or something and this isn't the norm but we don't plan to try again. read more

We just arrived in town and looking for a late lunch. We bumped into Eli's and walked in. There were a few tables being served and they were also getting ready for dinner service. The hostess seemed annoyed and was a somewhat snatchie. If you don't want to deal with customers at that time, close during those hours instead of making us feel like we're hassling you. On our first day in Charleston, we found Eli's table to be a great (and not so touristy) place to get breakfast. The patio is very nice, and the food was delicious.
