Hidden gem for sure. We were pleasantly surprised since we had just arrived to Charleston and I wanted lunch and my husband wanted breakfast. Eli's table menu outside was impressive. I had the grilled chicken salad and my husband got the chicken and waffles. They were both excellent. Our server was wonderful. read more

Raymond . He absolutely made our night . Our 8 year old was crabby and hangery as the food was running a bit late . Raymond took time out to talk to him and make him feel special and brought him a desert. That changed everything for him . The food as always is outstanding : but the extra touch of kindness really made the experience for us . Raymond is the pastry chef and his desserts are phenomenal! The food used to bring us back and now my 8 year old has a kindred spirit so we will back to see his buddy ! read more

I forgot to review this place, but my girlfriend and I were in the area and decided to somewhere fancy and we have no regrets coming to Eli's s table for dinner. The food here was incredible. I don't remember what we got other than I got a steak, but everything tasted amazing and the service was perfect. The restaurant itself was very classy and had a nice energy. I'm not much of a drinker but my girlfriend got some drinks and they weren't that bad in my opinion. She enjoyed the drinks though. I would highly recommend this place to anybody in the area trying to go somewhere fancy for dinner. read more

Just want to give a special thanks to Corey . He made such a small gesture that went the long green mile. When I first called the restaurant, he answered and said, "Thanks for calling Eli's Table how can I make your day great?" I said, " I am about to ask a question and depending on your answer will determine if you will succeed." So then I told him, I wanted to pay for some food over the phone. He said due to fraud they couldn't, which I totally understand. I asked was there any kind of way because I made a reservation for my mom's (it's her birthday) and friend in my name and really wanted to pay for it over the phone. ( Of course, I could have easily cashapp my mom for the food. But it wouldn't have been personal and it wouldn't have felt as special). So Corey, said he could do it but I had to verify who I was and my card. We were able to make it happen over the phone. He later found my mom and friend in the restaurant and asked them do they know me and once they confirmed, he told them that their food was taken care of. But he didn't stop at that, he serviced them and went above and beyond to ensure my mom's comfort and enjoyment. He was attentive without being intrusive. My mom was extremely pleased with the ambiance, staff, food, and overall establishment. And most of all she was shocked I was able to take care of her bill from afar without sending her the money. Corey thank you so much for making that extra small comment on how to make my day great and then living up to doing so. Becuse not only did you make mine day great, you had an impact on making my mom's day special, enjoyable and memorable. It's the small things that makes a HUGE impact. Again, thank you so much Brother. You made us all feel like we were family with that gesture. read more

Let's talk about Eli's table. A hidden gem hidden right in front of my face! Aside from the amazing bloody Mary's ( need to get it with bacon) are well crafted espresso martini. The food was well worth the wait ( due to staffing issues- but that shouldn't stop you because the drinks and outdoor seating was more than enough to occupy our time)! Can't go wrong with the eggs and fried green tomatoes. But YOU MUST try the BCLT (bacon , avacado , lettuce, tomatoe ) &fries! read more

$21 dollar burger, under seasoned and served with frozen french fries. My SO got the restaurant week menu, which was a bean soup, a duo of pork (tiny portion) and a cold salad (didn't realize it was going to be a cold salad). The puff pastry on the dessert was hard and unpleasant. We had high hopes, but for a food scene like Charleston, this was a disappointment. The 1 star are for our nice waitress and the gouda cheese appetizer. Worst meal we had in Charleston by far but we ate it because it was $85 worth of food When the waitress asked us how we liked it, and we told her, the manager came over and told us we've must have liked it because we ate it. We ate it because we weren't going to say anything. He was a jerk. read more

By far the best dinner I've had in Charleston (across many visits over the past few years). This place will now be a staple for me every time I am in town. We had Carson as our server, who was excellent, as was the rest of the staff. The fried green tomato app was so good, I'd be hard pressed not to order several as my meal next time. I had the risotto, which was excellent. Our teen had the steak and despite not usually not finishing a meal she left not one crumb on her plate, and then ate her sisters leftovers. She said it was the best steak she's ever had! We really had to convince ourselves not to eat here every night of our trip, but decided to try a few other places for variety and comparison purposes. None of them held up to our first dinner here! read more

Incredible disappointment. I saw great reviews about this place and decided to order their "Eli's lunch" along with a Caesar salad for pickup/delivery. Very disappointed in what I received. Single small piece of chicken and a few pieces of potato, and the smallest amount of vegetables. Caesar salad was no better, one could compare it to a salad ordered from a cheap fast food restaurant. Food tasted pretty good but at $26 ($9 for salad $17 for lunch) for my order before taxes or anything else, this is a ripoff. Your experience may vary if going in person but I will never get this restaurant to-go ever again. read more

My first visit to Charleston and brunch at Eli's Table was a memorable highlight. I had a wonderful experience; the food was delicious and the hospitality very welcoming. It wasn't easy deciding what to order since all the menu items sounded so good, but I finally went with the Chicken & Waffles (comes with sweet potato waffles and cinnamon butter!). I couldn't resist ordering dessert (chocolate mousse cake) because it's my weakness and I'm on holiday, I'm gonna have cake at brunch. Everything was tasty; can't go wrong with the classics. I sat in the outdoor patio which feels like a hidden oasis tucked away at the back of the restaurant -- a lovely and peaceful little courtyard. Great service and the management makes every effort to ensure the guests are happy. Such warmth and graciousness makes Eli's Table a Southern gem that's not to be missed. read more

Last week, I was invited to dine at Eli's Table, so I brought along my trusty sidekick, Elise D. I was, admittedly, underwhelmed at the thought of eating at Eli's because I had a 3-star experience there at a RW meal a couple of years ago. I used to think of Eli's as purely tourist fodder, but after the meal that I had last week, I have to say: I am a convert. As a food blogger, when I go to restaurants, they tend to up their game, but Eli's knocked it totally out of the park. We were greeted with champagne by the maître d', Raymond, who had personality and charm oozing out of every pore (seriously, this guy rocks). He was super knowledgeable about every dish on the menu, which wines paired best with which dish, and details about every wine (in the whole world, I'm assuming). We did a special tasting of many of the restaurant's most popular dining options. To get us ready and excited, Raymond started us off with a little amuse bouche of smoked salmon on a house-made cracker with goat cheese and scallion. I'm not normally a fan of smoked salmon, but the creaminess of the goat cheese calmed the smokiness of the salmon, so it was quite enjoyable. Also tried the Prosciutto and Fig Crostini. I've never had anything with prosciutto and goat cheese that I didn't like, and this was no different. I really liked the salty/sweet/creamy combo. We also tried a mini version of the Grilled Asparagus Salad. The asparagus was cooked so it was perfectly tender without being slimy. We also got to try a bit of the Shrimp and Grits. The grits were super rich and creamy and I loved the extra depth from the smoked gouda and tasso gravy. The shimp was perfectly cooked and had a little bit of spice to it... if you're a fan of shrimp and grits, you'll love Eli's version! We also tried their Southern Fried Crab Cake, which they don't use any bread or crackers at all in, which is refreshingly different. I loved that the outside was a little crispy and the remoulade had lots of flavor. My favorite course of the night was their Catch of the Day, which happened to be red snapper. The fish was cooked and seasoned beautifully, and was a perfect complement to the crawfish butter and red rice risotto. There was a nice bit of smokiness to the dish, which they add by using an applewood smoking gun on the sausage in the risotto, which really made the dish stand out. Even if you don't like fish, I feel like you'd love this dish. The final entree was one of their signature dishes (and one I see pop up on Instagram all the time): Duck and Waffles. Because I'm a difficult person, this was probably my least favorite of everything we ate. There wasn't anything inherently bad about it, I just found the gaminess of the duck to overpower the entire dish (and this is coming from someone who loves duck). The waffles on their own were really good, and the brussels sprouts were amazing, perfectly crispy and awesome with the malted bacon glaze. Raymond delivered with Crème Brûlée that was scorched at the table, which made me feel decadent and special (even though it's something they do for everyone, but still). It was a stellar Crème Brûlée, and I highly recommend it! My favorite dessert (and probably my 2nd favorite thing I ate the entire meal) was a special chocolate dessert that Raymond made special for that day. It was chock full of Kahlua-soaked pound cake, house-made vanilla bean ice cream, praline crumbles, fresh local blackberries, and, what I can only assume was all the chocolate syrup in a 5-mile radius. It was glorious. read more

I wish there was more time on my vacation to come back here! We stopped here along the way of one of the food tours. This was by far my favorite spot!!! You need to come here! Everything I ate was amazing and I went in thinking I didn't even like the food lol. We had fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese which I highly suggest. I don't normally like tomatoes but these were really good. We also had shrimp and grits.. again I didn't think I like grits. Well turns out if you make them this way they are outstanding. They had so much flavor and were delicious. Last we had chicken and waffles. An all time favorite of mine. This time it was a sweet potato waffle which was really good. The guy next to me said his wife has been trying to get him to eat sweet potatoes for years and if they always tasted like this he would. Honestly you need to come here! read more

We made reservations for Eli's more than a month before traveling to Charleston and the reservation was for 9AM. We get there to see a sign in the window saying they were opening at 9:30AM instead on this particular day, so we decided to walk around and kill time. Got there at 9:25 and clearly they opened sooner, as there was a long line and people seated inside. While waiting (and we were next) two more parties walked in and when the hostess came back, so totally looked past me at them and went to check them in. I advised her I was waiting ahead of them and she snapped at me. Then she simply acted rude after that. We were seated and ordered. Kayla was amazing as a server and she pretty much made up for the poor service of the hostess. Kayla was very attentive and helpful and kept checking on us. My wife ordered a bowl of chicken noodle soup, which looked really good when it arrived, but she couldn't eat it as it was way too salty. So, Kayla quickly checked to see if they had She Crab Soup and brought her that as a substitute. She enjoyed that soup. I ordered Eli's breakfast, as it had the logo next to it indicating it was a specialty. The only thing special about it was the biscuit, that was amazing! The scrambled eggs were lackluster (no flavor). The bacon was amazing. The potatoes were decent. But overall, it was a basic breakfast. There was a heavy smell, odd smell in the area where we sat and the restroom was loaded with fruit flies, which kind of grossed us out, as it was next to where they were storing vegetables (they had a delivery while we were there, so we saw where they store them). About the time us and the tables around us were finishing up breakfast, the hostess came around giving everyone a card with their server's name on it asking us all to give them a positive review on social media and refer to our server so she could get a gift card. We did appreciate our server, she deserves a gift card, but to solicit reviews like that is just odd. Overall, I was very disappointed... definitely not what I traveled to Low Country to enjoy. read more

I don't know if it was an off night or under staffed service wise and kitchen wise. We made a reservation here because it was on the Top 10 list for Charleston. I will not be back when I visit again. Service was horrible and curt. I think the manager was our waiter but I'm not 100% positive. Either way he's so busy selling you on the award winning dishes (must be a local award) and the features he doesn't allow you finish asking your questions before he starts to answer. There were four of us and three ordered appetizers. Only one showed up and then dinner arrived. When I informed the server/manager of this he replied "oh really?" Like I was lying or something and then nonchalantly said - oh well I'm sorry. Here's your dinner and I'll get the appetizers and they will be on the house. Never did he offer to bring me a new dinner after I enjoyed my appetizer. I would have appreciated that because he passed it all out and got lost looking for new silverware for my friend. Then I tried my food and it was lukewarm. Risotto was more like spackle...So thick! Also the menu reads "red rice" I thought that meant red grain. No, that meant lots of tomato sauce. Mahi-mahi was dry and very disappointing. Waiter took so long to ever check on us again I just ate it. The won award for shrimp and grits. I'm not sure why- They were bland. Scallops also had some kind of risotto under them that was stiff and flavorless. I should have got up and left when a roach flew on to my friend face and then on to her cup! But we didn't. We sat out on the patio so I guess. The I I g on the cake that I could not move past was when a rat scurried across the fence line. The other guest and staff treated this as just another night and no big deal. This is a BIG DEAL! There were other issues like a prep table out as you walked to the patio uncovered and exposed. I should of known better and insisted we left but I gave the benefit of the doubt. I'll never do that mistake again. read more

Recommend by our hotel, and literally a 2 minute walk. We took the opportunity to stop by. Firstly it's a Monday! Here in Charleston at 5:30pm. We have a very early start to dinner. Our hostess was warm and welcoming! As the entire restaurant was empty. Just us and the staff. Our server was amazing and spot on! With service, not over baring, just extremely attentive. My husband had a Bloody Mary, I had an ultimate mimosa. Both drinks really good & best part they don't skimp on the liquor. Which is very refreshing! As most bars, I water their drinks down for profit. Fried green tomatoes! Award winning & spot friggin on. Duck and waffles cooked to perfection. My husband had the Rib Eye & again DIVINE!!! Literally the steak just melted in your mouth. Baby Girl, had Shrimp and Grits: and a Grilled Cheese. So much food, we nearly tapped out. Until dessert came! Beignets and Crem Brûlée' ...absolutely WONDERFUL! Thank you Chef & Staff for this EPIC meal: dare I say, this was the best meal of 2020!!! Can't wait for our next visit! read more

Ate here Wednesday evening and it was by far some of the best atmosphere, food, and service I've had at a restaurant. Maggie waited on us and was knowledgeable, fun, and sweet (as was all the staff). Her recommendations were spot on. We enjoyed the mussels and prosciutto appetizers which were both phenomenal. Then for meals we had the catch of the day (swordfish...YUM), scallops, and another entree I can't remember the name of. But everything was phenomenal. We may be out of towners but the next time we vacation in Charleston we will be going back! Almost forgot to mention the bartender Kean (I hope I spelled it right). This place is clearly going through something. After (willingly) waiting extra time because the kitchen the kitchen wasn't ready, we watched as the hostess engaged wait staff in social activities and they were quite busy on their phones instead of refilling coffee. When it arrived, some of the food was ok. The crab cakes tasted fishy and weren't seasoned very well. After our food arrived, we had no luck getting a coffee refill. The wait staff wasn't helping each other. And there were 3 people working the hostess stand doing...? Eli's Table has good reviews and my experience also reflects this. However, if you're looking for southern food, there are many places you can go to get delicious food for a cheaper price. I came here for dinner on a Thursday night around 7pm with a group of five with a reservation. The restaurant is small, so be aware that a reservation is probably a good idea. The ambiance is fairly upscale, and there is a small bar within the location as well. I ended up getting the shrimp and grits, marked as one of their specialties. Although it was very good, I've had shrimp and grits elsewhere that was just as good for less money (Early Bird Diner is a good example). I also had some red rice risotto as a side, and it was tasty and moist. My friend had the duck and waffles though which looked good, and was an interesting departure from the traditional chicken and waffles. Overall, I would say that this is a good place if you want a cozy, intimate dining experience with some southern food that is prepared in a more elevated way. But I think I'll pass on coming here again unless another group invite happens to come my way. read more

We wanted so badly to like this place. We didn't do too much planning for our first night in Charleston and walked by this place. It smelled incredible, so we saw the reviews and thought it was a good bet. I ordered the vegetarian risotto which was delicious. However, the rest of our meal was incredibly disappointing. My husband had the duck and waffles and ordered the southern risotto side (can't remember the exact name). His face dropped as soon as the food arrived. The duck was cooked well but the waffles were soggy and the risotto side was unremarkable and clumpy? There just wasn't a lot of care taken with this food or meal presentation or freshness for the price point. Additionally the restaurant just feels a bit run down and unclean. There were a lot of fruit flies in the bathroom which was incredibly off putting (think flying into your face while you're in there). We had less expensive meals while in Charleston that were way more impressive with a better setting. All in all just very disappointed read more

The service was great. The food was alright. The prices were exuberant for what you get.

Great food, Karen was so sweet and attentive! The shrimp and grits are to die for! A GREAT brunch spot!

Let's start with the hospitality first, they were all so friendly and welcoming. The hostess, Deanna was super friendly. She chatted with us for a while and gave us recommendations where to walk to and all the tourists spots. I'm somewhat socially awkward and boy did she made me comfortable to be able to carry on our conversation. She gave us a complimentary dessert when she found out that it was our 33rd wedding anniversary. What a nice gesture and a sweet woman! Let me not forget about our server, Steven. He was more on the quiet side but he smiles every time he checked on us and he took good care of us. Check this place out if you're in the area, the food is amazing! There's so many places to eat in Charleston! Of course I used Yelp to guide me and Eli's restaurant came up with great ratings. We made reservations using the Resy app at 9:30am for a 12:30pm spot. I was surprise there was availability, but it was a weekday. The app was quite easy to use. Appetizer: Beet salad and beignets. While the beet salad was nicely done with basil ricotta, seasoned arugula, the beignets were undercooked. The middle was in its dough form. Entrees: We had the poach eggs with crab cakes, avocado croissant sandwich with breakfast potatoes, son had the BLT sandwich and Eli's catch of the day (blackened grouper) Charleston red rice risotto, pickled sweet corn relish, crawfish butter. My poach egg crab cakes were good, but I felt the crab meat was lacking. There were more "fillers" in the cake than I wanted. Note: my son has allergies to nuts and seafood. There wasn't so much selections he could get, hence the BLT. I only wished the manager or chef would have visited us vs the server going back and forth to the kitchen to figure out what was safe for him to eat. This is huge in my book. I know I could have simply asked for the manager but we felt safe with the BLT sandwich. We did not have dessert. Service was great. Our server made small conversation in the beginning and did check on us often. I felt the environment could have some background light music. It was cramped inside. Perhaps outside seating would have been better but it was too cold to sit outside at the time. Overall I would give Eli's a 3.5 star rating. read more

While visiting Charleston for the first time, my first meal in town was at Eli's Table. We booked it in advance because we requested outdoor seating to be able to eat with my dog! The back patio area is very spacious and a much nicer area to sit at (vs inside) in my opinion! It was so warm and sunny. If it's your first time, I'd recommend ordering family style to share all of the meals - then you get to taste everything they have to offer! We ended up there by walking by and saw and smelled the food! It was so attractive that we went in to eat. We luckily were seated promptly ( the couple behind us had to wait 30 minutes). Our server, Maggie, was a bubbling fountain of knowledge and gave us a lot of ideas about the menu. The wine list is limited but adequate and we found a good sauv blanc. The fried green tomato napoleon was creative and very tasty. The risottos were excellent. I had the chef's daily special, and it was chock full of seafood of all types.
