We smelled gas in our garage and the PG&E tech said we needed a new part for the furnace. Element sent a person to replace the piece and found a dangerous break in the furnace that allowed CO to flow into the garage. We arranged for a speedy furnace replacement at a decent price. These guys may be great, but I will never know because of some really poor initial customer service. I contacted them two weeks ago, was offered 2 time slots, and accepted one but forgot to leave my address. Called them this morning and they identified my appointment by my name and told me that because I forgot to leave them an address, they just unilaterally dropped the appointment. No notice. Wouldn't you think to ask for that just as a courtesy to the customer? Pretty much every other HVAC company I spoke with did. And even if you decided to take the low road and cancel the appointment that you just offered, wouldn't you tell the customer? If I were going to hire this company--which to be clear, I never will--I would ask myself, what other things might go completely uncommunicated? Hidden charges? Design assumptions? Warranties? I found this company in my local directory here in Martinez/ Pleasant Hill. I scheduled an appt. & met with a rep Gilbert who explained their product & services. He was very professional & knowledgeable about the insulation process & cost savings on the heating/AC. The installers were great. Starting the job they taped off sections of the house to reduce dust/debris from spreading beyond the general work area. The owner Jerry would make periodic visits to see how the project was going. Jerry & his lead worker Marvin noticed that our main electrical panel did not meet code & referred us to an electrician (ZM electric) who took care of the problem in one day. The guys here did very fast and cheap work. However, I did have to get them back in TWICE because things weren't done correctly (to spec) the first time. They came and fixed the problems no questions asked and without extra charge. Element Home cleaned up old attic insulation's from half of my home that has not been remodeled recently yet. They were on time, thorough, clean, professional, and great customer service. The positive experiences started with Jorge who came out to estimate my needs twice and did not mind making a thorough check of the attic the second time. The four-crew men who came on the actual installation day today worked hard and had to deal with very tight attic spaces due to the design of the home. This didn't deter them and they got the job done. We also had an attic vent that was tricky to replace the screen, and the lead on the site did not hesitated to go back to redo it three time until I was satisfied. Final kudos goes to the office phone person too who I've spoke with several times. It turns out R38 fiberglass batt supply is tight these days, and he worked out a solution to combine two layers of unfaced R19 batts to achieve what I wanted without having me to wait for unknown amount of time until the supply is available again. Its has been a joy to work with Element Home Solutions despite initial apprehension since I knew little about heat pump systems. It started with a visit by their representative Ernest Shahray . He spent an hour and a half with inspection and measurements, getting into crawl spaces and the attic, noting every vent location and duct size. He exuded confidence and competence, while educating the homeowner at the same time. Several days later, a 9 page estimate with everything listed in detail was delivered. I forwarded this to one of the representatives of BayREN for review to see if the cost was in line. After a positive response from BayREN, we proceeded with the project, which was to replace the existing gas furnace on each of 2 floors with heat pumps, as well as installation of new duct system since the old one was 28 years old and leaking. It was estimated that this would take 3 days to complete. Under the leadership of Marvin, with a team of 5 workers the first day and 8 workers the second day, the project was completed in 2 days. They worked nonstop except for lunch breaks. They took care to protect the home with plastic sheets and drapes, the clean up was just as efficient. Marvin was receptive to questions and readily corrected minor deficiencies as I pointed out to him. I especially appreciated the care they took to preserve the custom made wood floor vents that were glued in 28 years ago. They accomplished everything that was laid out in the estimate. A few days later, after I have had time to check out the finish in detail, Ernest came back for a walk through to ensure that the customer was totally satisfied. There were a few minor deficiencies which were corrected expeditiously. Ernest even recommended a handyman to deal with a totally separate exhaust vent issue that I had. It was so refreshing to encounter an individual in the service industry who was willing to go above and beyond his responsibilities to provide value added service. He is a real asset to the company and I have become a loyal customer for my HVAC needs. read more

They deserve all 5 stars! I requested a quote on yelp, received a response almost immediately. They are the only company that followed up with us while we were making our final decision. My husband was so impressed by the detailed inspection that it was an easy choice after getting other bids. Pricing was right in line with what others were offering but it was the communication and knowledge that really sealed the deal. They came out one week later to begin a 3 day project and every inspection report came back with excellent review of their work. We had a few electrical issues after the work was completed - light in master closet, ceiling fan not working, and one kitchen switch won't work. We let Element know of the issue and they are sending out an electrician to take care of it. Excellent customer service from everyone in the company. Element Home Solutions is a true gem. I was looking to insulate my attic and to replace my HVAC unit in my rental property while I live on the other side of the bay... It's kind of difficult for me to get out there for all these appointments, so I tried to schedule all of the contractors for one day and got a confirmation from all of them (had to make sure my tenants are there and take a day off at work) I scheduled to meet with six different companies - two out of six never showed up and never called to reschedule (when I called them they put me on hold and one didn't even bother to answer). So I ended up with four quotes out of six. Element was the only company out of the four that offered both projects without subcontracting to a third party. They were also the only company that arrived within the promised time window. I appreciated Ernest's insights and the way he explained everything to me, something I can't really say about the other companies. Ernest gave me a few options within different price ranges. He also introduced me to a few other energy efficient products that was not aware of. I was really pleased with the work quality and so were my tenants. After checking with 3 estimate EHS had the best price by far and not only that, Eduardo and his team were so professional. Eduardo never pushed any sales pitch. He gave us what we asked for. They came and added an AC unit and replaced our furnace and whole vent system, not only that they cleaned and closed any open holes surrounding house. Just got a new heater installed by 2 hard workers, Marvin and Rolando, and I'm impressed with their professionalism, politeness and helpfulness. They arrived on time and immediately set to work without a break until all went well. I now have a new heater for a better price than other companies quoted and a wonderful warranty. If there were to be any future problems I feel confident the company will act honorably, therefore I plan to use them to install all new insulation under my home next. I'm struck by the number of 5-star ratings. The gentleman who just provided an estimate to install a single-zone mini-split was ill-informed at best. A technician from another provider instantly recognized the ample capacity in the existing electrical circuit (EHS fellow was befuddled and asked me), as well as observing that we no longer use an EV-charger and could save time and money by working with that. About running the electrical to the condenser, EHS fellow missed the obvious simple solution of running the line through the garage and attic vs. across the exterior of the second story of our home (around the chimney) on a steeply slanted lot. The EHS fellow was also clueless about the cost of the main components -- or was trying to gloss over an otherwise excessive bid. He said the outside unit (condenser) and inside unit (handler) *each* cost around $2,000, resulting in a total cost of around $4,500 for the two pieces. After he left, I googled the exact model number and found the two units (condenser and handler) combined cost less than $1,400. Perhaps he was thinking about (but didn't mention) parts. But even a generous estimate for parts of $1,000 leaves him $2,000 short . I could go on. Complete waste of time. read more

I had some problem with my ducts. I didn't know where to start. I called Element Heating & Air, they were able to fit me in within a weeks time and worked around my schedule. They arrived promptly, and very courtiosly. They gave me a full inspection. They sat down with me and explained exaclty what i needed. They let me ask questions and were very knowledgeable. I thought the process was going to be to involved, but they told me all I had to do was be available. They were right, they made all the necessary calls, scheduling and arrived for each appointment. They got all the permits required and they were right all I had to be available. The whole job took about 6 hours. The were very clean during the whole thing. I am completely satisfied! I had EHS add insulation to my crawlspace and garage. The quote was not only the best I had received (I got about 5 quotes), but they also appeared very knowledgeable and experienced as they walked me through the estimate. They did both insulation work, and demolition as needed. A sizable crew came down and knocked the project out in a day. After the insulation was done, I had some electrical repairs done to the now-exposed wiring; some insulation had moved around a bit during the electrical work from the other contractor, and I had also noticed a few spots here and there that I had concerns about density and coverage-wise from the initial job. I called EHS for a followup, and with no questions asked, Eduardo and Sergio came by and not only addressed my small concerns from the initial job, but also went above and beyond and made small adjustments here and there to the insulation the electricians had displaced! I am 100% confident in these guys -- they not only stick by their work, but also go above and beyond, I feel like they were more than a contractor providing services, they were also a partner in getting the job done 100%. Very impressed. On Yelpers recommendations I called Element for a bid on a new furnace and A/C. Our house, on a steep hill, was built in 1939 and expanded (by us) in 2019. Several heating vents didn't work or worked poorly so we figured duct work was in the picture. Space is tight under our house and there is not a lot of room for ducts so we wanted a company that could figure out solutions with some creativity as we suspected the job would not be straight forward, as indeed it wasn't. When Jorge came to do the bid he walked through every space in the house following the convoluted ducts to determine where each ended in a vent. We discussed how routing access to electricity for the compressor might be accomplished and whether the furnace should be one or two stage, as well as how powerful. I had talked to other companies about these issues but Jorge seemed more thorough and more knowledgeable. When the bid arrived I checked reviews for the appliances they specified and the reviews were very good (which had not been the case for one company). Their thermostat seemed easy enough to program (looking at the owner's manual on line) but I couldn't find a review for it's reliability. I asked if it could be replaced by another I had found reviews of and that was fine with them. They could get to us in a month. The job was done in a (long) day with a crew of 9. They worked fast and seemingly without need of much direction. Jorge was an active participant all day which I very much appreciated. Plastic sheeting was draped over furniture, stairs, and along walls but tearing out old ducts was still a dusty business. The duct to the cold air return could not be installed as planned with the type of duct I wanted and we discussed moving the location of the return. Coming up with no location I approved we settled on using a less durable flexible duct. A joist had to be moved a few inches to get the furnace through and I insisted (perhaps unnecessarily) it be returned to its original spot which Jorge accommodated. They found the duct in the kitchen had never been attached to the vent opening letting most of the hot air blow into the space in the walls instead of the kitchen. Although it wasn't part of the job as bid they replaced the duct all the way to the vent. Other ducts that could be reached without opening walls were replaced. The crew was polite and careful about fragile furnishings in places where they had to maneuver heavy equipment through tight spaces. They cleaned up thoroughly. This company is very professional and their bid was in line with those of other companies. I highly recommend them. read more

Element HS did a complete insulation job on our 1920s house, replacing the attic insulation (expertly working in a very cramped attic space in hot weather, I might add), installing insulation and a vapor barrier in the crawl space, as well as cleaning and pest-proofing the whole house. Gilbert and his crew were awesome every step of the way, punctual and exceedingly professional, and were able to work with me on some tricky issues, such as having an asbestos inspection before, and an electrical inspection of the attic during, the install (the latter necessitated a shutdown of the work, which EHS took in stride. They were able to come back and finish the install at a later date for a very reasonable fee). Shortly after completing the insulation job, I hired EHS to install a completely new heating system, including a new gas furnace, ducts and vents. Gilbert and his crew did an absolutely amazing job. They removed the old furnace and installed new vent covers and a new digital thermostat (and in doing so finally solved a seemingly intractable electrical problem we'd had since buying the house). It turned out some of the new vent covers were loose and liable to be ripped out of the ground by one of our cats, so Gilbert came back the next day and fixed the problem for us! EHS are the best at what they do and I look forward to working with them again for our annual furnace and duct cleaning. read more

From start to finish 5 Stars... On a referral from a friend in the A/C business I called Element Home Solutions. I knew my current heater was original to the house (1990) and my electric bills last summer were insane. I explained my situation to Moe, and he got me on the schedule the next day. Eduardo came to my house, and was professional, and polite. He looked at my entire house, including the duct work. He wasn't pushy, and gave me several options. My daughter suffers from severe allergies so he also recommended an air filtration system that is Medical Grade. After everything was said and done, we got the middle of the line unit, and added the medical filter system. Marvin was the installer, and he too was very professional, and put me right at ease. The installation went smoothly, and I even though it was construction, the entire crew cleaned up after themselves. Other than a little dust my house was not messy after they left. Jerry was very up front from the beginning regarding what he thought was best from a value vs functionality perspective, but he was also very flexible when it came to understanding our needs. In every option he proposed, he was very thorough in laying out pros and cons. What I found to be extremely impressive is Jerry's drive and execution. He was never late, and even installed our HVAC ahead of time. Although we know Jerry and his team is extremely busy, its hard to tell because our priorities became his priorities. Element did a fantastic job installing a new furnace and duct system in our home, and replacing old insulation underneath the floor boards. They also removed the old gas wall unit that we had there previously. They were responsive, able to schedule the work quickly, and able to get the entire project done in 2 days which was ideal since it was pretty disruptive. Their team was polite, friendly, efficient, and cleaned up after themselves. They had to install the unit underneath the house where the only access was through VERY small crawl space openings which I'm sure was extra complicated and dirty/unpleasant but they did a great job. Following the install we had some issues with a grumpy city inspector and the guys from Element came back out to my house several times to make sure everything was wrapped up properly and that we had the necessary permits and paperwork.
