This spring, our other furnace was shut off by PG&E for leaking carbon monoxide. I contacted Element to replace this and initially did not intend to get any other quotes. Ernest came and was again very thorough, but we did not use Element again due to: 1. Inflexibility about using our existing floor air intake. This is a large 3-ft opening in our living room floor, but Ernest wanted to make another large opening on the other side of the living room. Aesthetically this is terrible in a historic home and I pointed out that this would lower the value of my property. We had in-depth discussions about dimensions of ducts, locations of vents, etc., but ultimately Ernest was not able to commit to an alternative plan and I was not willing to sign a contract without knowing what the end result would be. 2. Pricing increased a lot for a similar job only about a year apart. Due to Issue 1, I sought out 2 additional quotes, which were about $10K less than Element ($32K). Both installers did not have any issues with keeping the air intake where it was. Had Element been only $5K higher than competitors and kept my air intake location, I would have gladly gone with them again, but 50% more is a big price difference. read more

The first HVAC company we had over to get a quote to replace our system was the one Costco works with. They tries selling us a ridiculously expensive duel fuel system and a bunch of other extras we didn't need. Cesar came over from Element and was the first and only of the 5 or so companies I had give a bid that was honest and directed me towards a all electric heat pump system. After doing a lot of research we came to the decision to go with Element. They replaced our whole system, new ducting, zoned the system, and removed the old insulation in the attic, sealed everything, and installed new insulation with our new HVAC System. I was very please with the professionalism, communication, and overall work performance of Element and the crew. Cesar was at the project the whole time which I very much appreciated. He isn't just the person who puts together bids, he was up in the attic helping the crew complete the job. That was a nice surprise and much appreciated. Tl;dr if you're in Alameda reach out to Atlas Many moons ago, specifically in the Jerry Stiller "why can't I get comfortable" era, I worked with Mitsubishi Electric on several marketing campaigns. I visited their Suwannee, GA HQ multiple times, got the pitch on what differentiated Mitsubishi compared to other HVAC brands. Years later, I was finally ready to install a system at my house. I was excited to see that Element was a well reviewed, platinum contractor. I reached out and was ghosted after the onsite meeting. The number shared with me onsite sounded pretty reasonable and a few options were explained. This was around June 13, 2025. Nearly a year later, I have yet to hear back. I never received a written estimate despite a few follow-ups. Furthermore, they were unfamiliar with local Alameda code inspection enforcement specifically regarding the placement of the outdoor unit. Overall we had a solid experience with Atlas Heating. It was the last device in my house that used gas, and now I am running an all electric home. The installation was great and I have been pleased with the result. They have come recently to help me with the controls configuration and confirmed everything is still in great working order. I highly recommend Element to another homeowner. Long overdue review from the vapor barrier shield job Element performed in mid May 2024 for my home. The crawl space was a total and complete disaster zone. Moldy water, nails, and trash. Jorge was an excellent supervisor and the owner Mac was very hands on in setting up the appointment as well. They removed all the trash which filed an entire van, cleaned up all the moldy water and laid down the 20 mm vapor barrier shield which is the thickest option they offer. The team worked pretty expeditiously and the communication was good. I was worried about possible mold due to the water that was there and the company was good about working with me to ensure we didn't have any issues before the vapor barrier shield was laid down. I think the value of the work is also good. I noticed a small corner is missing some tape and called today to speak to the owner Mac who is sending a worker to the house on Monday to tape it up. It's hard to see every nook and cranny of the crawl space so I really appreciate the excellent customer service, especially since their warranty is 10 days after the service. I really like that the owner stands by his service and is willing to send someone to finish anything that was missing. Thank you Jorge and Mac. When I decided to install a heat pump, I got quotes from several outfits, including Element. It was down to the wire between them and another HVAC provider. In the end, I chose the other provider because their quote was quite a bit lower; they also offered interest-free financing, and had mostly positive reviews here on Yelp. But it was close! I really liked Jorge, the project manager who evaluated my situation and provided a quote. He had a quiet professionalism about him, and his analysis of my needs was very thorough. He inspired total confidence, and I have no doubt I would have been pleased with his company's products and service. They are one of my favorite contractors in my entire major home remodel. I had a very complex head and AC installed. Very old house, very complex. My electrician messed up (did not get electrical done in time - NOT Elements fault) and over a holiday the guys stayed hours later than planned. Missed holiday events to make sure my kids had heat. Yes, they are super smart and thoughtful. Yes, if things go really really poorly (not anything they did) they will go the extra mile for you. So we had a power outage on Dec 25th and I thought everything came back online that night but woke up to find our HVAC system was not. I googled and found some troubleshooting ideas, but didn't work, I then contacted Caesar and he was so NICE to help and over FaceTime help me troubleshoot the issue, unfortunately it still didn't work, he then came over 30 mins later on his day off one day after Christmas and we were able to get the unit back online (looks like it was a loose wire connection that he discovered, he reconnected and inspected all the wires and fuses again). Element Home Solutions did an amazing job with our Mitsubishi duct-based heat pump install. A notable part of our experience is due to Ernest and his openness to address all our questions being first time homeowners dealing with an old HVAC system. We first contacted them back in 2022 but could not come to a decision due to other upgrade needs. Finally, two years later in 2024, we contacted Ernest again to revisit the quote and it felt like picking up exactly from our last conversation. His site visits were fantastic and thorough. He physically went into our attic space, taking measurement as needed, and really spent the time with me to fully understand the differences between a mini-split solution and a ducted-heat pump solution and what are our CFM requirements. The proposals were nuanced and detailed and really provided all the options for us to consider and evaluate. We decided to go with the Mitsubishi heat pump solution which also allowed us to remove our old gas-based furnace and old outdoor AC unit. The air handler (PVA-A42AA7) was installed horizontally in our attic space; the outdoor unit (PUZ-A42NKA7) was installed outside our back wall. We also added the IQAir PerfectPro X purification to our system, as well as asking if they can install a QuietCool Whole House fan that we had purchased. Our install date got moved up which worked out well as there was a forecast of extreme heat in the following weeks. Overall, the bulk of the installation happened in two days. The team installed the massive duct work and opened new holes in our rooms for the best duct placement. All old duct was removed, and the holes were sealed from above. All work in the area was cleaned up nicely. The house fan and air handler install really had to be careful on placement due to the placement of the air intake in the hallway, but the team was able to make it work and it looked great. There was a need for follow up visits as we noticed a noise in the duct (it was a rouge piece of paper), a persistent electrical issue that surfaced in the install, and some exterior areas that needed to repatch, but the team responded very quickly. For inspection, we did fail our first one due to a power cut off requirements in the air handler from this particular San Jose inspector, but the team once more responded quickly, got the patch in place, and the follow up inspection scheduled quickly. For rebate, they also handled the TECH Rebate process, and we received that check in the following weeks via mail. Overall, we highly recommend Ernest and the Element Home Solutions. We evaluated three other HVAC companies and the thoroughness of Ernest's proposal and expertise he showed in navigating all our questions really put them at the top of our list. They helped me through the rebate application process, came with 24 hrs to look at the site and give me a bid for installing a Mitsubishi mini split heating system. Heroic! I don't usually write reviews, but my experience deserves one. I upgraded my old furnace to a new variable speed central heat pump. Cesar handled the offer, negotiation and installation. Here's why my experience was great: 1) At the time of the quote, they were the only provider of a product that met the requirements for tax deduction. Others claimed they were, but the product they quoted didn't really qualify. Accounting for the deduction their quote offered a better product at a lower cost than any of the other 4 companies I got quotes from. 2) During contract finalization, they proposed reducing the equipment size from 3 tons to 2.5 tons, which would save you money but also decrease their profit margin. This is to avoid having an oversized system. 3) During installation, the team discovered asbestos, which required removal. After removal, they then spent 6 hours replacing an outdated wooden box/vent with a modern one. Overall highly recommended. Professional, committed and trustworthy read more

Excellent experience overall from initial consultation to installation. I appreciated the professionalism of the team and how easy it was to work with everyone I encountered from the company. We initially just wanted to add AC to our bottom floor, and during the initial consult Ernest brought up a heat pump option to replace our furnace and add cooling. I appreciated how willing he was to go into detail about what its impact would be, how it compares to traditional AC/furnace, and how & where it would be installed. He was also willing to answer questions I had about our current system so that I could better understand how I might be able to go about a planned upcoming kitchen renovation. Compared to the 3 other companies I chatted with, Ernest & Element HVAC were the most personable and professional. He brought up various options, including replacing and adding to our current system like-for-like so that we could make an informed decision looking to future house updates and budget. I called Element for an estimate to install insulation in the attic of my house. Their estimate was initially in line with others I'd gotten, until I was told I should spend an additional $450 to vacuum out the attic. The issue: sawdust left when electricians had drilled holes in the joists to run new conduit to replace old knob and tube wiring I'd just had removed. I asked it this was a safety issue and was told "yes." I was surprised; I'd worked with an electrical contractor I knew well and didn't think they'd leave anything behind that was hazardous, so I called them and asked if it was. They said flatly it was not a hazard and that I was simply being "up-sold." Neither of the two other companies that estimated the job suggested there was any such problem, which confirmed to me that Element was trying to sell me something I didn't need. read more

We just had our attic insulation replaced due to a rodent problem. Element was super professional and responsive from giving us an estimate (Jorge) to the actual installation. Jorge gave me a quote, but we forgot to ask him about the advertised discount on the Home Concepts magazine before he left our home. We emailed him later and he promptly applied the discount on our estimate and resend us the lower quote. On the day of the removal and installation of insulation, the team arrived punctually. The team members first put on shoe cover to see what and where the attic is, then they covered their trail between the front door, stairs, bedroom all with plastic. Upon request, they also put plastics all around our belongings in the walk-in closet (where the attic opening is) as well as our bed to keep them dust free. They worked swiftly, and the team invited us to take a look at the attic when it was all cleaned out, and after the insulation was reinstalled. We were very happy that they let us see their progress. Afterwards, they threw away all the trash, and vacuumed our bedroom and their trail on their way out. Bravo on their thoroughness and professionalism. We recently moved to a home in Castro Valley, I am not sure how the previous owner lived in this oven of a house! It's not even summer and it's hot. I am not sure if you ever tried to get a toddler to sleep when it's 85 degrees in his room with fans on full blast......it's not fun. The house had a furnace installed mid 90s, so I knew going in I would need a new furnace installed as well. Before I chose Element home Solutions my wife and I received multiple quotes, some were more, some were less. Ceaser from Element was the only one who actually crawled up in to the attic and looked around....Seriously had 5 other company just stick their head up, yep needs to be gutted. Ceaser must of spent 30-40 minutes going through everything, where others where in and out in 10 minutes. Ceaser was the only one who measure the return vents and ducts and did actually calculations of what size furnace / AC needed to be installed. He also told us our return air ducts were undersized. And showed us damaged vents (previous rat issue) which also needed to be replaced. We were so impressed from their work, we had them come back a few days later to replace our attic insulation from the previous rat issue. TLDR:Theses guys are the real deal! Element Home Solutions came through again! My AC unit stopped blowing cold air. The fan was rotating but only room temperature air was coming through the vents. They were able to come the same day! Eduardo was amazing. He diagnosed the problem, replaced the capacitor, tested the AC unit and was done in about 30 mins. And most of that time was waiting to let the AC run to make sure it was functioning properly and cooling the house. I wanted to post about some work that Element did for us in Jan 2022. We had a crew come and replace the insulation in our home. What a difference! Our home needed an upgrade and we quoted with at least 5 companies. We went with Element b/c of other Yelp reviews and b/c we had the best feeling after meeting with them. They explained all our "options" but did not push us to do anything that we didn't want to do. They hit all key areas of value for me: - they were upfront and we felt the most honest of everyone we quoted with. - they were the right price when we compared with others - they didn't push us to do the work "right away." Other companies came out and offered a discount if we committed on the spot. I get it, they come out and quote, they want the work. We weren't ready so it was really hard to say yes to anyone that used this tactic. - when the crew came out, they taped up the house and were careful bringing out the old insulation. Once it was vacuumed and cleaned, they let me go up and look at their work (they also took photos) before they brought in the new insulation. Two months have passed. We feel the difference and the house is much more enjoyable when it is hot or cold outside. New insulation made a huge difference and we highly recommend you go with Element Solutions. read more
