Went to El Valle on a Tuesday to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and grabbed a spot at the bar. The vibes were great, especially for the occasion, and it was a nice place to hang out and enjoy the atmosphere. The bartenders were very friendly and welcoming, which made it easy to relax and settle in. We ordered a few drinks and just spent time hanging out, and everything came out quickly and tasted great. They also had a mezcal tasting setup where someone was at a table offering samples, which was a fun touch and added to the experience. I was really pleasantly surprised by my experience at El Valle. We stopped in before a show at the Fox, and they are definitely ready and prepared for a theater-going crowd. They have a special express menu with some items that are ready quickly so you can get to the show on time. We each got the fish tacos, which were absolutely delicious (but do leave you with onion breath - beware if you're on a date), but for $19 for two tacos, I wished they came with a side - even just a little rice or tortilla chips. I was still a little hungry after the meal. I had a divine pomegranate mocktail and my friend had some good skinny margaritas. Her second drink was supposed to be prosecco, but the bartender must have misheard her. That said, the service at the bar was great - friendly bartender and he made it easy to order. It was loud in the restaurant, but not so bad you had to yell. And all the ladies waiting in line in the bathroom commented on how much they loved the smell of the candle in there. Made reservations here before concert at the Fox. We were seated promptly. The ambiance was great with the lighting and easy to navigate dining area. Cecilia greeted us promptly, welcoming us and offering water options to start. When she returned with the waters the first thing ordered was guacamole. It arrived and was truly delicious! She gave us a little too much time to look over the menu for our dinner choices. But when she returned she was able to answer our questions about allergies, etc. We ordered additional drinks and our entrees. She returned to the table and said the chef had some concerns about allergies and suggested a different topping which we truly appreciated. We enjoyed all items ordered. This was my first time here. I stopped by for their happy hour menu. I was kind of surprised that it was different from the one posted on the website. Because I really went for the octopus, which they did not have on the new menu. That said the place is really nice. It's upscale, casual lots of seating for big crowds and friends. We ordered a bunch of small plates/dishes and honestly, everything was average and nothing really blew our mind. I personally liked the beef burger and cooked well but did not have usual lettuce tomatoes. The taquitos, and the ceviche were pretty meh for me and I would not try that again. Located in Atlanta somewhere We were seated quickly but to be fair the restaurant was pretty empty around 11:30am. I had a very refreshing lemonade, post Peachtree race. Now normally you can't go wrong with fish tacos but IMO these were way over breaded/fried cod tacos. I ate one but had to de-bread the second one to get the actual fish meat. This is one of my new favorite happy hours. Its daily from 4-6pm. We tried so many items (the slider, wings, ribs, macaroni, corn pudding, taco). Our favorites were definitely the wings and the corn pudding. The portions were really good for a happy hour and we had plenty of food leftover. El Valle must be German for overpriced garbage wanna be elegant Mexican but it's not even dog food quality plates of future vomit and feces. I don't speak German so I could be wrong on that one. Service wasn't great with a very soft-spoken waitress in a semi-loud environment. Others at the table had to let me know what she was saying or questioning. I tried to just order a Margarita... and you would have thought I was asking for a customized organic artisanal vegan low sodium over "sonic ice" with a triple floater of The Rock's, Kevin Hart's, and Mathew McConaughey's signed bottles of tequila. They just didn't have one on their menu. All of the other ones had ingredients that didn't sound appealing or have ruined a margarita in the past (i.e. hibiscus). And shame on the restaurant for not having a "margarita" as an option. I see this more and more and if you want to be trendy, find... but at least have a backup plan for people who just enjoy a simple margarita. The "star" dish was the $42 short rip with mole and grits! Let's just say the "chef" didn't have the chops to pull this one off. This short rib had to be the worst cooked piece of meat I've ever ordered at any restaurant. Think Pot Roast in a High Crock Pot for 8 hours bad! They did take it off, but it's a shame to even serve it. Others at the table thought the food was meh. The fish tacos were bland, but crispy. The sous vide pork tenderloin was overcooked (isn't that the whole point of sous vide... to NOT overcook), and the guacamole was just ok. Nobody left happy. Then at the end, the waitress picked up the bill with the credit card, then returns a few minutes later with just the unpaid bill... after some confusing interaction, it turns out she dropped the credit card somewhere along the way. You'd think that would be a common thing to avoid. Find a cheaper taco joint or something else nearby and spare yourself a large bill for food that's mediocre at best. One star is Not Good and this restaurant fits that description perfectly. read more

Keep in mind, happy hour orders need to be made at the bar, as you can't order it at a table, but that's pretty typical. 4 stars because of the portion size. I would go back! I pass by this restaurant almost everyday when I walk alone outside, thinking about my research problem. Finally gave it a try last week. I went there at lunchtime. Not many ppl so it felt spacious. The restuarant serves lunch, dinner and brunch, and interestingly the lunch menu also includes some brunch items. However, I was more interested in the torta so I got a Carne Asada torta with side of salad ($16), and added a side of Elote-style corn pudding ($7). All the dishes were delicious. The steak in the sandwich was by default fully cooked, but I asked for meidum rare to medium and they did a good job. The refried beans had a sour flavor; I never had such refried beans before. The pickled jalapeno added some freshness to the sandwich. Overall it was piled high with beans, meat, veggies, cheese... Delicious. I never had Elote-style corn pudding before. It was basically corn pudding with whole kernel corns, topped with cotija cheese and tajin. It was creamy, sweet and spicy. Highly recommended if you have not tried similar stuff. Service was freidnly, though a bit slow considering the number of ppl inside. Would visit again. read more

Mushroom based sauce with crispy ponko-style crust and perfectly prepared meat and Bok Choy accompaniement. Lomo de Cerdo, check. Fantastic tenderloin pork with steamed rice and a mango sauce. Our server shared that she was brand new so she couldn't answer many questions about the menu but she also did little to try getting questions answered. I ordered a small plate and was very underwhelmed. The crab temperature was cold as if it had been sitting waiting for the polenta which was bland. Came here for a meeting to view the space and left a fan of their food, drinks, and service. The person I was meeting was running a bit late, so I sat at the bar and the bartender showed me their happy hour specials. The drink and food specials were very cost effective. I ordered a steak taco, a cocktail, and the Mac and cheese. Everything was so good. The portions for the happy hour specials are smaller, but they were filling. The bar was beautiful. It was definitely clean, but the decor and vibe were that of a ritzy bar on the upper west side of NY. It's gorgeous. The seating area was beautifully decorated and also classic. If you like a Latin vibe, this is 100% what you want. It's a restaurant in the bar but at night it turned into a club. So there's lots and then the street parking. You're downtown so you have to kind of expect that. So it's basically get it how you live, but they don't have something specific for you to do for parking for the restaurant. I went in and security checked IDs but that was it. They didn't really do anything else, and there was no fee or anything like that to get in. So I thought that was good. If you go on the wrong time of night you going to be waiting in line to get a drink. So they don't really have a good way to manage the drinks and the patrons, so you could be standing around for like 10 minutes trying to get somebody's attention. They have plenty of tables and plenty of rooms to hang out at. The music is loud so you can hear it anywhere you go. There's a dance bar so you can do a lot of dancing if you want to as well. Depending on what type of night it is. You can definitely end up being shoulder to shoulder though so just keep that in mind. I went with some coworkers and it wasn't that bad but it probably wasn't my saying. I'm not really excited about being hugged up with somebody at the bar trying to get a drink just because there's no space or room. But, I will try in the daytime where I can just go ahead and try the food. And maybe get some drinks specials because the night that I went didn't have any drink specials obviously. So that was pretty much just regular bar prices. Either way it goes, it'll be worth going back again for just to see what it's like on a regular day versus the club night. read more

First impressions can be tough. But this placed ACED it! Atmosphere Friendly service Food and flavor I was taken care of by the bar staff. Specifically Mario. He's really what made the entire experience as he knew exactly what to recommend for my first time. Plates are on the smaller side - so don't feel guilty ordering a lot! Don't miss out on the burger. It's my favorite so far. It's packed full of flavor! Followed by the shrimp taco. The lemon is what really brought all the flavor out for me! My corn pudding was an amazing midnight snack when all of a sudden I had more room for El Valle food! The atmosphere is chic. I love the earthy tones. What a complete renovation from the previous restaurant that once was here. Basically a whole new space. I couldn't believe my eyes. So I'm starting this happy hour tour since its my favorite event restaurants do . I started my tour by checking out El Valle on Peachtree street. Any place in the city that offers validated parking starts out on my good side. HH is from 4-6 and when I arrived at 4:30ish, the place was pretty empty but the bar is really large. It's a cute sexy vibe, definitely a perfect date spot! I sat next to a woman who lives next door so i followed her recommendations. I love when there are multiple choices of food and drinks. I tried the specialty cocktail, a passion fruit and pomegranate margarita! The pom made it not as sweet as the passion fruit would have made it so a great balance. I also tried the sangria and i liked that it tasted "wine-y" and not too sweet! I ordered the wings, but even the mild was too spicy for me. The shrimp taco was probably one of the best i have had. I also tried the steak and they give you a nice serving size, the steak is tender and flavorful, my only issue was everything was so juicy, it kinda made the tortilla a little soggy, but it was still tasty. Now let me tell you about the burger !! Not as big as a reg burger but bigger than a slider and OH MY GEE!! They did that!! As I looked around I noticed that most people had ordered the burger and I see why!! Juicy, seasoned, everything was everything! I would go back for the next stop but noooo the tour must go on!! Came for happy hour but already planning my next visit to try their actual dinner/lunch menu. This restaurant was bigger than I expected with a fancy casual ambiance. I feel like this would be a good place for a pre-show or post-show night cap. Their happy hour is pretty extensive in my opinion in terms of contents. It's not just solely drinks and the food options, though more so on the small plate size, were still somewhat shareable in my opinion. The staff was also very friendly. The bartenders were knowledgeable in both the drinks and the entrees and answered all of our questions with no complaints We got; Guacamole Smash Burger Taquitos Poblano Mac and Cheese Sangria We split all these amongst the two of us and the total was $50, or $25 per person. My favorite out of the bunch was definitely the Mac and cheese and the smash burger (which was essential just a mini burger but very flavorful in my opinion). The sangria was sooooo good. I've had sangrias that were too sweet or not sweet enough but this was the perfect medium. And it was pretty sizeable in my opinion. We were seated but when we were told that the happy hour menu only applies if you sit at the bar, we proceeded to move to the bar as many of the items we were interested in getting were on that menu and less expensive. My friend and I ordered the birria tacos, the chicken taquitos, the poblano Mac and cheese, fish tacos, the elote corn pudding, and we wanted one of the $10 cocktails. The bartender said they normally have a cocktail of the day but didn't have one that day and offered to make us what we wanted. We told her to surprise us and she made us a delicious "adult Shirley temple". The corn pudding was exceptionally good but everything else was just ok. Good, but nothing special. The Mac and cheese didn't have much flavor at all. It was, however a nice experience. I had family in town and wanted to take them somewhere nice for brunch since we both love Mexican food, I decided on El Valle. From the pictures, it looked really nice, and it looks exactly like that in person, very beautiful decor and paintings and was spacious as well. Upon entering, it was dead (in their defense, it was rainy outside), but we were greeted with the smile sat at a beautiful table of our choosing. Shortly after we were then greeted by our waiter, who was great with us even spoke a little Spanish so that was a plus. To start, I ordered the bottomless, passionfruit mimosas. One of the things that made me choose. This restaurant was the fact they used a Mexican sparkling brut. It was delicious! My dining companion did not want an appetizer, so since I was starving I just got the sopa de maíz. It had the consistency of a chowder it was sweet but still good, I think it would've been better with another ingredient, perhaps chicken or something. For our main brunch meals, I got the pescado sarandeado. Hey, seared salmon on the bed of poblano grits, with creamy tomato sauce, and Mexican chimichurri. I don't care for grits, but my meal was absolutely delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the flavor was impeccable! The person I was dining with got the mole de ajo negro- braised short rib on top of a corn mash. I thought the taste was okay but then again, I'm not a huge fan of mole. My dining companion liked it but, said there was too much fat and was still hungry when we left lol. They validate parking, which is a huge plus. Carlos was our server this past Sat (8/27/23) evening, and he didn't even try to accommodate the simple request. I wanted to try the tacos. I was willing to pay for the 3 chicken tacos and substitute one for cauliflower. You get 3 tacos. Two of the options were either chicken or cauliflower. I wanted 2 chicken and 1 cauliflower. I asked to substitute and stated I would pay the higher price, which is chicken, and without him even inquiring, he quickly said no. I even stated again you could charge me for the chicken substitute one of the cauliflower. Again, he just said no. Isn't that unbelievable?!!! And just simply ridiculous! Such a cute spot. We ordered the octopus, soft shell crab, ceviche, pork tostada, Brussels sprouts and finished with the deconstructed s'mores. The food is excellent, the decor is nice, service is spotty and there is one major gripe I have about their billing practice that everyone should be aware of. I really like the food and have been here five or six times. I think El Valle has the best guacamole in town. Some of the service staff are very good, while others need some work, not paying enough attention to customers trying to get attention, distracted by side work, their phone or chatting. My biggest concern by far is the billing practice. At payment time they hand you a terminal with your total amount displayed with tipping amount options. It does not show an itemization of what you are being billed for and WORSE, there is no disclosure that you are automatically charged a 20% tip. No one has ever disclosed this verbally, I haven't seen it on the menu, and it isn't shown on the handheld terminal where it solicits tips that are actually an additional tip. Seems pretty shady. My standard tip is 25%. But not at El Valle. They get the 20% that they quietly slip in. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth at the end of a delicious dinner. read more
