I came here for a watch party and the place was packed. So packed that I was not able to get a seat with a table. I came here for a special event. It was a college football game watch party. We got free parking in the lot connected to the building. It said permits required so no idea if this is normal. The inside has TVs everywhere. TVs wrapped around the bar, TVs on walls, and TVs in corners. There are no TVs for the outside patio. I wasn't able to sit at the bar nor get a table so I can't say much about the food or drinks. read more

I'm not sure who's leaving these favorable reviews - must be family members and friends, because my actual experience was not great. Instead of a long winding review stating all the negatives, I'll keep it short while stating all the negatives. - Sat at the bar at a spot that was dirty - only open spot. Receipt that was still there was 15 minutes old. - Sat in the same spot for 10 minutes, was never acknowledged. - Had to get my own menu - Bartender cleaned the spot and took my order like I was bothering them - Ordered Bourbon burger, medium. Burger came rare (cold pink center) and had mayo all over it. - Burger looked worse than something you would get at the McDonalds drive-thru. Zero pride in presentation. - Zero seasoning on the burger. Very little bbq sauce, almost no onions. Lots of mayo though. - Never received utensils or a napkin. Used my socks to wipe my fingers off. - Finished and wanted to leave. Took 10 minutes to get my check after I put my card on the edge of the bar hoping to get someone's attention. - Dude with yarn dreads constantly fussing with his hair, and then touching the rim of customers drinks. So gross. - Several staff sitting down at empty tables watching football games. - Weird things were stuck to the toilet water supply in the middle bathroom. - Left a $1.00 tip. Was so disappointed in my visit, I actually left a crappy tip. Only time in my life I remember doing that. I should have left nothing. - Dust all over the place. Tops of many surfaces were coated. - It's a weird space. Feels like it's not done. Bare walls with huge TVs. The restaurant is nice looking and loved all the big screen tv's. It gets 2 stars for the atmosphere - upscale sports bar. The food was ok but I would not order any of it again. The burger was very disappointing. It sounded delicious on the menu, lots of interesting flavor combinations. For $20 I was expecting a nice sized, delicious looking burger, overflowing with goodness. Well, the fig burger's appearance was sorry looking and rather skimpy. I would not order it again. The restaurant overall looks nice... except the many large screen tvs are a serious distraction and take it down a notch in atmosphere. And if the place is packed, it can get rather noisy. I've been eyeballing this restaurant from the very beginning. Finally I got the chance to come by. Me and my stepdad stopped in after a appointment. We was asked where would we like to sit. We decided on the outside tables to enjoy the sun. Our waiter Lucus was great. We looked over the menu and decided on the Guinness fish and chips and the Pork Belly Skewers. As for the cocktail I got the Campfire. The food and the overall scene was fantastic. Sitting outside people watching with good food and a tasty cocktail was everything I needed today. Taffers Tavern offers very good pub food in a large, inviting environment. I came here with friends before seeing a musical at the Alliance Theater. The fish and chips I ordered were delicious, thick, and crispy and paired well with the tartar sauce and vinegar. The spicy whiskey ketchup that comes with the fries are phenomenal. Our server was fast and attentive just like the rest of the service. The back seat was a little roughed up but, otherwise, I had a great time eating here. It's a great place to watch a sports event. We had such a great experience at Taffer's Tavern and I have to highlight the customer service because that's what truly made the night. We sat at the bar, which was such a vibe. There are several TVs throughout the space, so it was perfect for watching the game while enjoying dinner. Great energy, comfortable seating, and not overcrowded. From the moment we sat down, Jess and Willis were attentive, professional, and genuinely kind. There was a small hiccup early on, but they handled it immediately and made it right without hesitation. That level of accountability and care goes a long way and completely elevated our experience. Now let's talk about the food: * Buffalo wings were flavorful with the perfect kick * Deviled eggs were creamy and well balanced * Truffle fries were crispy and addictive * Fish & chips were golden, fresh, and perfectly cooked Everything came out hot and well presented. I've had better burgers and fries at McDonald's, for crying out loud. Food tasted like they microwaved it. Burger had absolutely no seasoning. At least some salt and pepper, please. (Which wasn't even offered at the bar, by the way) Somehow, the fries were not burned, but they were the driest pieces of crap. I could have gone to Publix and gotten frozen fries straight out of the freezer section and eat them out of the bag without cooking them and they would've been better. No lie. Almost like they just grabbed some twigs off a tree and threw them in a fryer. Terrible. Friends had the chicken. They said it tasted like rubber. Again like it had been frozen and microwaved. Pluses were, the people were nice and the service was good. But even their signature bourbon drink... who in the world came up with that? Why are you setting wood chips on fire beside the glass instead of letting the smoke go into the drink? That makes no sense in the world. I don't know if they actually have a chef. But if they do, do better. At the price point??? Dang! Fail:/ I'd get a beer there again because the atmosphere is good and it's a block away. But that kitchen should be shut down. Finding a place worth our time while on the road is not easy, but the moment we stepped into Taffer's the staff made us feel welcome and just happy to see us there. From beginning to end the team made sure we're comfortable and I can't say enough how attentive everyone was, actually outstanding. the place had a beautiful entrance and the inside really surprised me, it really has a space for everyone to be comfortable, I loved how everything just works together. The food was delicious I could cry trying the vodka rigatoni, just wonderful. The pork belly and mashed potatoes were so well done and the combination of both really melted in my mouth. Great scotch and bourbon choices, wine by the glass good enough. 10-Close happy hour deals on food great - huge portions - chicken was done perfectly at 11:40 pm near close when most kitchens give up - I appreciated that. Bartender immediately attentive, energetic and cool up to closing. I fly into town late and I really appreciate a place that gives its all right up until the minute it closes - most places don't. Waitress who served us seemed unfamiliar with taking cocktail requests. We had to emphasize the particular brand we wanted. She was promoting the seasonal cocktail. Bartenders maybe primarily serve beer and wine. I would stick to those. The waitress kept asking to take the rest of our order which made us feel rushed. Very good artichoke dip. Burgers were ok . A little bland. Nothing spectacular. The manager when he came to greet us was great and wanted to help make our experience a good one. I met a friend for Saturday lunch at the recently-opened Taffer's location in Midtown. Walking in, there's a definite cozy vibe befitting a true tavern; it's done in a modern style that feels contemporary yet comfortable. There is an expansive bar with multiple large-screen TVs overhead, so Taffer's is now on my short list of sports viewing spots in Midtown. Service was very welcoming from the hostess to our server, who was very attentive throughout the meal. They have a small weekend brunch menu, though the extensive list of comfort-heavy tavern fare is also available on weekends. I opted for the brunch chicken & waffles, which unfortunately took 40+ minutes to come out which I chalk up to the usual "sorting out" new restaurants often experience in their first couple of weeks. To their credit the manager (unprompted) provided me a couple of drink vouchers to make up for the wait. Once received the waffle was very nice and the chicken was good, though it was not the star of the meal. Taffer's seems like a really nice addition to the north Midtown restaurant scene and I look forward to returning soon. read more

OK, so wife and I blew into Atlanta for the afternoon on a Sunday stayed at the hotel across the street where they told us we had to come over to Taffers Tavern upon we were so pleasantly surprised . This place is so nice and plenty of big screen TVs . Extremely nice bar, craft cocktails ,friendly service& amazing people we instantly felt at home . the drinks were tremendous and amazing food ! let me just put it this way literally the best bourbon burger I've ever had in my life. Clearly using high-quality ingredients. We had an opportunity to talk with several staff members and the manager . my only regret is that we don't have a place like this in Nashville. This is top shelf. We were so pleased. We will definitely be coming back and I absolutely recommend it. Jayden was one of our bartenders he's amazing but they are all so good. Thank you guys !! As one would expect from John's establishment everything was spot on just after opening. Aneesah took great care of us, as well as the rest of the staff. The only issue is they are still building out their patio furniture so we had to sit low on one of the couches vs a table. Just tried the new Taffer's Tavern at 17th & Peachtree in Midtown Atlanta and I have some important breaking news: I may never cook again. First up was the Prime Rib Sandwich. Perfectly cooked, juicy prime rib with melty gruyère and horseradish sauce on a hoagie bun, with au jus for dipping. And let me tell you -- the meat was so good it practically introduced itself before I took a bite. The fries were insanely crispy and came with spicy ketchup that had just enough kick to wake up your taste buds without filing a police report. Then came the Bourbon Burger -- caramelized onions, bacon, and white cheddar on a Patagonia bun. It's the kind of burger that makes you pause mid-bite and reconsider every burger decision you've made in your life up until now. Drinks? Also excellent. The Campfire Bourbon was smoky and smooth, and the Moscow Mule was bright, cold, and dangerously easy to keep sipping. The space itself is gorgeous -- brand new, beautiful interior with a great bar vibe and outdoor seating right at the corner of 17th and Peachtree. It's the kind of place where you could stop in for one drink and accidentally stay for dinner... and maybe dessert... and possibly a second round of fries. My one small complaint: the au jus dish for the prime rib sandwich was not big enough to dip the entire sandwich. And I am what you might call a Big Dipper. I mentioned this to our sweet server Aneesah, and we had a good laugh about it. (Future improvement suggestion: au jus bowls the size of birdbaths.) Speaking of service -- Aneesah was superb. Big smile, great energy, and she walked us through her favorites like a seasoned food tour guide. Bottom line: great food, great drinks, beautiful space, and fantastic service. Excellent food and staff, baffling parking situation We visited the newly opened Midtown location of Taffer's Tavern and were genuinely impressed by the food and the staff. This is far better than typical bar food. We ordered the salmon sliders, rigatoni with chicken, fish and chips, and the prime rib sandwich. Every dish was excellent--well prepared, flavorful, and thoughtfully executed. Nothing felt like an afterthought, which is not something I say often about tavern menus. The drinks were also well crafted. The Prohibition cocktail was a standout and absolutely worth ordering. That said, I don't quite understand the point of the "campfire" cocktail presentation. The drink itself is solid, but lighting wood chips on a platter next to the glass--without the smoke actually infusing the cocktail--felt a bit silly and hokey rather than enhancing the experience. The only reason this isn't a five-star review is the parking situation, which is honestly bizarre. The designated garage is not connected to the restaurant. You take an elevator to "retail," walk through the Nomia apartments lobby to get to the restaurant--but when you leave, you can't go back through the building. Instead, you're forced to walk down the street, enter the garage from the outside, and walk up a long ramp to the third floor with no sidewalks or stairs--just sharing the ramp with moving cars. It's awkward, inconvenient, and feels unsafe. This as the only method to get back to our car was verified by the restaurant staff. All that said: amazing food, excellent staff, and I will absolutely be back. I'll just take an Uber next time. read more
