To go taken!

Yes this is a branch of the one in SFO Ferry building serving same delectable faire ! We took a Codero and Champinion , one with lamb with Malbec and the other all veggie and mushrooms! We enjoyed them both with the small serving of their amazing Chimichurri sauce sold for $1:50 . Next time we will try their Alfajores!

I love me a good empanada! If you need a quick bite on-the-go, this is a great option! These empanadas are a good size for snacking. They are nice and buttery, I ordered the maradona which has a filling of tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. I do wish this empanada had more filling- with one tomato in the one I had purchased. I also ordered the dessert empanada (banana and dulce de leche) and that one had a hefty amount of filling. So yummy!

Don't buy the frozen empanadas! I bought a box of veggie empanadas on 2/6 and when I made it home that evening, they all had black and green fuzzy mold. This location is selling bad products. They best buy date is Feb 2026 and packaged on Dec 2025. It has been incredibly difficult to get a hold of anyone for replacement or refund. If you do buy, open the box and inspect the product before you pay and check in front of the cashier. I don't recommend buying anything here as you don't know if the hot empanadas are fresh.

Sorry didn't get pictures of all the empanadas we ate. We had spinach, lamb & mushroom. All outstanding For dessert we're sharing the the alajores "cookie". .. Shortbread, chocolate & dolce de leche. Yum Short post, quick picked up quick food, after a couple of wine tastings. All u can eat is that they were really good. Shop is in the Oxbrow public Market , Napa Valley. CA

Seriously delicious! We stopped in on a late Monday morning in November based off of others' reviews and so glad we did. El Porteno is one of the restaurants/shops located in the Oxbow Market (which is worth a visit itself!) and specializes in empanadas. We ordered a ham and a chicken to try them for ourselves. Loved, loved, loved the ham - super flaky with just the right amount of delicious cheese to accentuate the thinly cut meat. The chicken was sweet (I didn't realize it had raisins in it) which wasn't my favorite but my husband loved it! Service was quick and friendly - perfect to grab and go! Each empanada is placed in its own bag with the type of empanada stamped on it so you won't confuse them as they look very similar from outside.

My friends and I split two empanadas so that we could try other food from the Oxbow Public Market. Service was quick from this beautiful and classy stall. We LOVED our mushroom empanada and our lamb empanada. Both were well packed, seasoned and had excellent texture and flavour. Location is a grab-and-go counter inside the market, which has seating all around the building and outside!

Really yummy empanadas! This place is SF-based so I was very surprised (but very excited) to see it at the Napa Oxbow market. The empanadas here are massive and so delicious. The exterior is the perfect amount of buttery flakiness and they fill their empanadas very generously and they're always so fresh & piping hot! I got the tomato, mozzarella, and basil one, and my friend got the prosciutto & fontina one. We both loved ours! The tomato/mozzarella/basil did not skimp on the cheese. It was perfectly stretchy too. I wish it had a little more basil & tomato, but the overall flavor was so delicious. It's like eating a pizza in an empanada form. They are a bit pricey (almost $8 for 1) but they're quite big and filling so I would still recommend getting one if you're craving a warm comforting snack! They also have sweet dessert empanadas which looked soo delicious as well. Friendly workers and quick service :) It's a grab and go place so no seating but if you turn the corner there's a ton of places to sit in the market itself!

Absolutely delicious! El Porteno has a food vendor stall in Oxbow Public Market. We noticed it when exploring and decided to get empanadas after having a smallish appetizer at C Casa. We were so glad we did. We both chose the spinach, parmesan, and bacon empanada. And my daughter also chose a banana dessert empanada. We loved both! The market was pretty crowded, and it took a bit before we ordered, then found a table where we could enjoy our fresh and tasty empanadas, but we were both glad we put forth the effort!

Came here with the hubby and he liked it. We'd only been to their truck a few times, so seeing their stall in the Oxbow market was a treat. My husband ordered four empanadas and he mowed them down over the next day and a half. I guess he liked them. It's nice to know that if looking for a nice snack, one is available from them. I won't be back, but I know that he will. Also, the people working there were totally nice. So that was a plus.

I stumbled upon this place while walking around Oxbow Market and knew I had to try the mushroom empanadas. When I say this is a really good empanada I mean it. The texture on the outside had a nice crispy crunch while the inside was soft and moist. The flavors were seasoned really well. Service here was nice and friendly. The worker took our order and gave us the empanadas quickly. This spot would be a great spot to come to for a quick snack or empanadas craving! I will have to come back to try their other flavors the next time I'm in town!

Overcooked, very little stuffing and SUPER dry. ‍

I brought visitors and we were all disappointed. On top of that, you have to pay extra for chimichurri. The cashier was friendly at least. I was so stoked to try it, but I can't recommend it at all. A do-over is needed.

Hai L.

Had 3 different empanadas and they were all a disappointment. Staff member burnt the empanadas. There wasn't much filling in any of them and it was very difficult to chew.

Emily W.

Love empanadas so I had to try one! I went with the jamon y queso. It was ready right away and the cashier was very efficient! I love that it came piping hot and fresh! The outside was nice and flaky. The filling inside was pretty good for the most part, except it had random spots that were super salty so that's where I'm docking one star.

Chorizo, we thought it tasted like pizza w sausage Ham n Cheese was OK - in my defense I was never a fan of this one as a kid. Their dough is excellent! Super delicious and perfectly baked! Yes, their empanadas are all baked. They also sell unbaked empanadas to take home, easy to do. Bathroom was clean, a lil off putting having to go thru part of the kitchen but at least the whole place looked very clean, huge points in my book for that. For any Argentinians out there or peeps in the know... they also had Mate cups w Mafalda! And yerba mate to go. We will DEFINITELY be coming back!

Over all food is ok and 10 glass of wine unbeatable. I do think that server training should be improved. We were asked for food orders before starting with drinks which I thought was interesting. The menu called to us (we were hungry and it also boasted $5 glasses of wine!). The hostess seated us right away even though we didn't have a reservation. We got an excellent spot outside on the promenade with a beautiful river view (on a Saturday night close to 8pm). We ordered the olives and lamb sausage to start. The lamb sausage was in a red sauce and was so tasty and well prepared. For my main I got the milanesa napolitano with a side salad (instead of fries). The cutlet was huge and I loved every bite of it! I'm only in Napa for a few days so was happy we stumbled across this one-- I recommend this spot if you like meat and you're pretty hungry!

My favorite empanadas were the traditional beef and al pastor. Along with the flavorful meat filling, I enjoyed the crispy flaky crust as well. The sauce and pica de gallo provided went well with the empanadas. The presentation of the empanadas in the box was appealing and delightful. I appreciated the little menu in the box to inform you what you ordered. The little flower was a nice touch. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Vinoma. The issue is that I was definitely pushing it on time if I planned on making my flight. As I was driving here, I had the thought that if there was an annoying parking situation or a line, I would just have to pivot and forego patronizing. But as it turns out, there was one spot available right next to the front door and no one inside. But then when I requested a nitro, the owner (I assume?) was extremely apologetic that their coffee machine broke. I asked for a few alternate types of coffee, but it turned out said machine controlled it all. So we shifted to the pastries. I read on the website that they had something with guava, so I asked for two of those: one for me, one for the wife. He even offered to heat mine up, which I will say yes to 100% of the time. I then jumped back in the car and was back into "don't' miss your flight mode." Of course, when you're in a hurry, you manage to hit every red light along the way, so I was doing a lot of yelling at electricity and God. But then I figured I might as well take the time to try the pastry that I'd originally planned on eating on the plane. As it turns out, it brought me into a nearly immersive experience of zen. The only bad thing is that I devoured it within seconds and then it was merely a thing of the past. My wife is fortunate that I have the amount of integrity that I do because I am sitting on the plane as I write this and I could easily inhale that 2nd pastry with her being none the wiser. Grabbing an empanada or two at Cafe Buenos Aires will be an event not out of the ordinary. Beef empanadas with mince, onions, bell peppers and eggs; picada with bits of steak, onions, bells and potatos (best); fuggazzeta, stuffed with salt purged onions, mozzarella and herbs; humita, corn bell peps, and mozz; classic ham n cheese. If you're torn about ordering a full shareable of the habanero fries, here's an insider tip: we asked for a side of their habanero sauce to go with our side of fries so we would still have enough room for their short rib sandwich! Their sprouts were phenomenal. Loved the sweat punch added by the cranberries and shaved carrots to balance the charr of the brussels. Will 1000% be returning to check out their dinner menu. When we arrived on time, we were told there were no tables available in the area your reservation platform had offered us. To make matters worse, after a staff member asked us which available table we preferred, we pointed one out, only for another waiter to immediately give that exact table away to a smaller party while we stood there as a party of six. That set the tone for the evening. Service throughout the night lacked professionalism and hospitality. One male waiter, approximately in his 40s with slicked-back hair, was consistently rude, dismissive, sharp in tone, and visibly uninterested in helping our table. His behavior affected our entire party and made us feel unwelcome. Management should seriously address his service etiquette and overall conduct toward guests. The most disappointing part was the complete lack of acknowledgment of my wife's birthday. Throughout dinner, we watched several other tables celebrating birthdays receive desserts and recognition from staff, while our table received absolutely nothing despite the restaurant being informed ahead of time. At the end of dinner, we were simply handed the bill with no acknowledgment whatsoever. My wife even turned to me and asked, 'What about my birthday?' and honestly I had no answer for her. The evening felt careless, disorganized, and poorly managed. We did not receive the seating we reserved, experienced rude service, and the special occasion we communicated in advance was completely ignored.
