For an $18 sandwich (Cajun chicken sando), I definitely had high expectations. I was very surprised and disappointed at how dry the sandwich ate. You can tell there was spice on the chicken because you get a little heat at the end, but it somehow didn't have much flavor. It came with a generous portion of chicken at least- which would have been a plus had it hit the flavor market . I've had this place bookmarked for quite some time, really looking forward to it- but not sure I'd go for a second round. I got the chipotle Cali chili to take and save for dinner. I'll update that later. Based on other reviews, perhaps I just made it in on an off day? Or maybe should have gone the vegan route? The guy working was really nice, patient with some others that weren't so patient as well.
It's best to order to go. It's literally a pick up counter. We all ordered the bahn mi. It was pretty tasty. Service was nice they were friendly and prompt. There are seating areas close to the shop depends on the time and the vibe you might get lucky and get a seat near by. 10/10 would recommend and go back to try other dishes on the menu.
We were in town in Napa looking for a sandwich spot for lunch. After doing an quick research on Yelp, the Dutch Door was rated very high so we decided to choose that. We arrived for a late Saturday lunch. The restaurant is located in downtown Napa next to the Alpha Omega Collective Tasting Room. Parking is accessible in the free designated parking lots and street parking. At the Dutch Door there is no spot to eat inside as you just order your food from a door to a kitchen only space. Outdoor seats and tables placed on the sidewalk are the only dining area options. The staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered a Korean Fried Chicken Sando, Signature Supreme Dog, N' Awlins Cajun Tenders, seasoned fries and 2 Classic Plant Burgers. Everything was delicious and scrumptious. My Korean Fried Chicken Sando had a savory Korean sauce that had the right amount of kick. The crunchiness of the panko chicken and the kimchi went well together. One gripe I do have is that we ordered water in cups and we were not told that they charge for the water before hand. I found out only when I looked at my receipt. Overall we enjoyed our experience at the Dutch Door. I did particularly liked the outdoor dining area to enjoy the outdoor ambiance and people watching in downtown Napa.
Interesting concept it is literally a door on downtown Napa. It was a beautiful day in Napa, sunny and 68 degrees. There are 4 tables in a makeshift patio on the sidewalk. What I can tell you the have fantastic sandwiches and the truffle fires . The Korean fire chicken was awesome. Just the right mix of sweet and sour flavors.
TLDR: Incredibly nice and accommodating employees, and conveniently located in downtown by public parking. We came with a large group and ordered a variety of things. While I thought the food was good, I think there's still room for improvement. There's also limited seating at this location, so if you need more seating, they point you to a nearby spot that has more tables and seats. ------ FOOD: * The stars of the show are the burgers, and they have both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. They also have a few non-burger options like hotdogs, bowls, and typical sides. * They have slider options in addition to full-sized burgers. I got sliders of both the Korean and Cajun fried chicken sandos to try both flavors. I preferred the Cajun (thought it was more flavorful) but both were great. The Korean sando could have have more sauce. * Their fried chicken is excellent and crispy. The fries were good -- not life changing but definitely not bad. Could have maybe been more seasoned. * Almost all sandwiches come with fries, though I was able to sub out for a side salad. Unfortunately I didn't love the salad because it was drenched in olive oil and had a heft sprinkle of salty. I had to mop up the oil with napkins. * They also make their own ketchup I think. I personally wasn't a fan because the taste was so unique but others didn't seem to mind as much. ------ ENVIRONMENT: * Truly just a door where you order. When the food is ready, the door opens and they walk out with your orders. * Outdoor seating only. There's a covered patio with some bar and table seating. * The closest restroom is right across the street at the Napa Welcome Center.
The Food was delicious, my no bun burger was a bit charred and had 2 slices of cheese. [No photo too hungry] I asked for vegan cheese for all my order, but I was given dairy cheese. Not happy about that, trying to avoid dairy for diet reasons. Please If y'all don't have enough vegan cheese just don't put it at all.The vegan cheese melts, this cheese didn't melt and tasted like American cheese.
We were recommended to go here by my boyfriend's friend who lives in the area. We got there right at opening (11:30am). There's a great amount of outdoor seating. We both ordered lunch combos: I ordered chicken tenders + seasoned fries (+ mustard aioli sauce) while my boyfriend ordered the chicken sandwich sliders + seasoned fries. Both combos came with (most likely) homemade ketchup. We also shared an Arnold Palmer. Service: 11/10! Extremely welcoming and friendly. Chicken Tenders Combo: I personally thought the lunch orders were the perfect size. The chicken tenders were flavorful though some areas of the chicken tender lacked some of the crunch I look for. The fries were well seasoned and matched well with the mustard aioli. 7/10 Fried Chicken Sandwich Sliders Combo: We both enjoyed the Cajun style fried chicken slider more than the Korean fried chicken slider though both are delicious. 7/10 The Arnold Palmer was not too sweet - perfect for me. 9/10 Recommend to come early before the large crowds come in! I think it's a great place to try if you're in the area!
I ordered the Cajun Fried Chicken Sando with Seasoned Fries. I was encouraged by all of the positive reviews, but I think I'll need to retry this restaurant, because to me the food was okay. There wasn't quite enough flavor in the chicken, although it looked great.
Hidden tucked away walk up window. I've always seen this place come up on Yelp and I knew I had to make it happen when we had a vegan visiting us from out of town. I opted to get a Bahn Mi sandwich and for as little ingredients on there let me tell you that it DID NOT lack flavor. It was like no other bahn mi, but in a good unique way. From the different mayo to the cashew pesto. I was turned off for a second, but I had a bite and before I knew it. It was gone instantly. Service was quick. We got our food in less than 15 minutes. They do have a couple tables outside however for a group setting it's not fitting. I would highly recommend.
We stopped by on trip through Sonoma and wow were these sliders good! There is a line, so be prepared to wait. They have a small parklet to sit in, but it's quite limited. We tried the slider sampler with chicken and tempeh. Wow, the flavors were spot on! The sampler was definitely the best way to go. Both options for the sandwiches looked too yummy, so this too the decision making out of it. The chicken was crispy and the topping was fantastic. I wish the slider was just a little bigger, but it's not bad for the price. A great stop on wine country!
My girlfriends and I needed to find a dog friendly restaurant from coming back from the Shiba Inu Party - and we found The Dutch Door! S E R V I CE: It's nice that they're dog friendly! They have a little outdoor area that's shaded, and they also give dog water bowls. I do wish the tables were a little bigger and more secure to the ground. The 4 of us sitting in a four person table was a little too small and the table kept wobbling. If you're eating outside, there's a separate window to order from. If seating inside, you have an actual waiter and able to hold onto a menu. The staff was super nice, and offered to take pictures for us! F O O D: I saw that everyone was ordering their Korean chicken sandwich on Yelp, so I had to order it too! I didn't realize it didn't come with fries, so I was a little underwhelmed when my order arrived. The sandwich was a bit small, and didn't have enough kimchi. It was good, but not my favorite. I was expecting a little bit more flavor and some kick to it. O V E R A L L: The sandwich was too pricey for its size and taste.. The other choices on the menu seemed pretty basic as well.
A scratch kitchen tucked behind a door in downtown Napa! They use locally sourced ingredients to make everything from scratch daily, and they use 100% compostable packaging! Order at the door and sit at one of their handful of outside tables or take your food to go. The Korean Fried Chicken Sando was highly recommend by the friendly staff so I had to try it: -Crispy panko fried chicken, spicy sweet gochujang sauce, sesame, Napa kimchi slaw, chickpea mayo, toasted Acme bun The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious! The sando was substantial and could be split. But I cleaned my plate. I love Acme bread and the bun was lightly toasted. The chicken was perfectly crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. The gochujang sauce and kimchi slaw added a balance of sweet, sour, and subtle spice flavors, and an additional crunch. The gourmet sando is worth the $16.95 and I highly recommend it! The guy in line behind me was clever and took his food to the neighboring Alpha Omega wine tasting room to enjoy with a glass of wine! A fab idea!
There's only outdoor seating and it's lovely when the weather is nice!! I got the lunch combo with the Cajun and Korean fried chicken sandwiches with fries. It was the perfect portion size for me and a great way to taste two of some of their most popular sandwiches. I was also really excited about their locally sourced foods and sustainable packaging. Overall, it's a great place and I am looking forward to returning the next time I'm in Napa!
Great walk up spot in downtown Napa. Friendly staff and great sandwiches. I tried the Korean and the Cajun sando. Both were very flavorful, and the chicken was fried well. The Korean sando had a very mild kimchi and a sweet sauce. The Cajun ended up being my favorite, it had a slaw, pickles, and wasn't too spicy. I would take away some stars for only outdoor seating with limited shade. It Felt more like a food truck place. They do offer a store around the corner that that has seating. Parking is always challenging in this area. Staff were very friendly and helpful. read more
Great outdoor eatery for herbivores and omnivores! Dutch door boasts a menu of plant-based and chicken burgers, chili, fries, and bowls. My hubz orders the spicy queso plant burger, which was huge and tasty, according to him. I ordered the 2 fried chicken (Korean and Cajun) sliders with seasoned fries combo and the vegan chili. The sliders were tasty, (I liked the Cajun one better) the chicken was seasoned and fried well and the fries were good too. My toddler would have eaten all of them if I let him. Everything was made fresh to order and our server was friendly. Only outdoor seating available. I'd come back! read more

The Dutch Door is a cute little food spot right in the heart of downtown Napa. You place your order at the half-door counter and request your meal to go or to enjoy onsite (either at one of the sidewalk tables or inside at the adjacent beer and wine store). It was such a beautiful day yesterday that we chose the outdoor dining option. I had the Thai chicken wrap, which was fresh and flavorful. The Thai peanut sauce wasn't spicy at all. The chicken was organic and just as I like it--clean white meat without any chewy grey bits. The portion size was just right and I was able to eat my entire meal without having to take it home. The blue corn tortilla chips were delicious! My husband got the Spanish chicken tenders, which was also very good. Crispy organic chicken with a sweet dipping sauce. Maybe next time I'll try one of the chicken sandos. read more
My bf and I were in Napa for the morning so we wanted to get some lunch around the area. We were looking for a place with good reviews and reasonable prices, and we found this place and it ended up being a solid pick. My bf and I walked to The Dutch Door, and it was a little hard to find. It didn't occur to me until after that the place is named the Dutch DOOR. There is just a small window where you can place your order, and they bring it out to you. We ordered the Korean fried chicken sando with some Cali chili fries. The sandwich was pretty good. The Korean fried chicken was crispy and had a sweet, mild spice from the gochujang and a nuttiness from the sesame. I really liked the Napa kimchi slaw which was very refreshing. The bun was also nicely crisp on the inner side. The Cali chili fries on the other hand were slightly below average with the partial soggy fries and cheese clumps. Definitely skip these as they are not worth the price. It's a solid place overall though if you're looking for something moderately priced compared to the overpriced restaurants around the area. They have shaded tables and counters outside that you can sit at which is very nice during those sunny days. read more

By far the best vegan burger I have ever had. Seriously sooooo good. The whole chickpeas and black beans in it were delish. We got the Kickin' Queso Vegan Burger with a side of truffle fries. Did not disappoint!! read more
GOAT fried chicken restaurant!!! Incredible flavor, value, and easy ordering at this semi-hidden downtown Napa GEM! Just a heads up- Dutch Door is so popular, they do sometimes sell out of rolls/ bread. I arrived late in the afternoon and got the chicken tenders because of this. But still, not a problem. Absolutely DELICIOUS! I haven't had fried chicken this good in forever... Service was FAST even though they were slammed. And the environment is very casual. I'd say this is more of a takeout place, although there are tables and chairs out front. Just go!!! read more

The concept here is super cute/unique hence, the name, Dutch Door. There are a few tables available outside of the door and all the employees were so nice. Got the Korean Fried Chicken Sando and it was so delicious and super filling! You can tell that the sandwich was made fresh. It is incorporated with chicken crispers/tenders rather than a fillet, and is nicely coated with gochujang giving it a nice flavorful kick (don't worry, not spicy at all!). The kimchi slaw added a really nice touch to balance out the savoriness, as it was super refreshing. If we are ever back in town, we will most definitely come again! read more

Wish they had more seats -- all are outdoor seats and you basically put in your order on a counter. Staff are very nice and friendly. Truffle fries - very good. Not like other truffle fries that only have truffle powder. You can tell they cooked with truffle oil. Chili fries - also good. Chili flavor is not overwhelming. Cajun Chicken Sando - crispy chicken, great bread, bland chicken though - the saving factor was the sauce (could use some more), and the pickled veggies (could def use some more) lol Otherwise, would still recommend! read more

THE BEST SANDWICH MY BF AND I HAVE EVER HAD IN OUR ENTIRE LIFE. we visited napa for the first time and looked on yelp for sandwich shops. saw they had a banh mi and had to try it. we loved it so much we went back again the next day. i think i would legit drive to napa just for that sandwich! love that their food is locally sourced and made by scratch! you can taste the difference! all of their take out items are 100% compostable with no plastic. both times the service was great and the staff was super friendly. the place is a literal door which i thought was cute. they are always busy so finding somewhere to sit outside can be difficult because they don't have a very big seating area. this wasn't an issue for us, we just took the sandwiches to go! busy = they're doing something right. read more

This place is a literal hole in the wall which I thought was so cool! Don't worry, there is outdoor seating. I ordered the Napa Turkey Sando which I thought was just okay. The turkey was dry to me and didn't have much flavor. However, their menu offers a variety of sandwiches so I plan on visiting again. Service is fast which is always a plus! read more
Had a hard time finding the place because there was a tree blocking the sign and you actually have to turn the corner to see it. It's literally just a Dutch door you walk up to and order. Food: Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich - chicken was nice and crispy, nice amount of sauce and not too overwhelming; could have really used more of the pickled veggies to help complement the large piece of chicken Spanish Fried Chicken - basically their version of chicken nuggets; nice sized chicken pieces, breading was different like on the bigger side, my daughter didn't care for it and I thought it was ok. The romesco aioli it comes with had a really light to no flavor so didn't really complement the chicken well. Nice outdoor seating and the area is really pretty so definitely a nice place to sit and eat and enjoy the outdoors. Despite it being a 2 person show, food came out pretty fast. read more

Absolutely love this place. It's my favorite "treat yourself" type of eatery. The food quality is so great here. Taste and presentation are always on point. You can tell the food is made with love. Service here is always great. I've never had either of them appear irritated or unbothered with customers, while it be from taking orders to bringing the food out. The service is amazing here and just adds to the overall positive vibe of the restaurant. Everything about this place always keeps me coming back for more and excited to see what's new on the menu. read more

My wrap was great! Lots of flavor - ingredients were obviously very fresh. At $14, it was a bit steep for the size, but Napa is expensive so I won't hold it against them. Although the wrap looks fairly small, I found it to be plenty filling and satisfying. My mother ordered a vegan chili bowl (not pictured). $11 worth of chili should be a decent size, right? Wrong. It's more of a tiny cup than a bowl. She is a very light eater and after her chili "bowl" she was hungry again an hour later. I tried a little... it had a decent amount of flavor and a nice texture, but just can't get over the price, which is why this is a 4-star review, not 5. Seating is outdoor only, on a nice day, that's cool, on a cold or rainy day you should probably get it to go and eat in your car or at home. Staff was friendly, and the food did arrive very quickly, so I appreciate that. We might go back, I want to try a sandwich. But definitely won't be ordering any more chili-cups! read more

Best Vegan Menu in the valley. I ordered the ' Kickin' Queso Plant Burger '. The patty and bun Tasted very fresh, loved the pickle and jalapeños, felt made with love and it was exactly what I needed. My wife ordered the Zen Buddha Bowl and added fried Tempeh, she really enjoyed it again for the 2nd time. Great deal and scrumptious fried chicken sandwiches in downtown Napa! We decided to make a stop at Dutch Door on our way to a few wine tastings and the food was delicious. I ordered the Cajun and Korean fried chicken sandwich combo with fries. Definitely recommend the combo as it let's you try different things from the menu. My personal favorite was the Cajun sandwich as it had a nice kick to it without being overpowering. The chicken is also perfectly crispy and you can tell it's made fresh every day (I was also definitely loving munching on the fries)! The service was very quick and they packed everything up nicely. The only thing is that there is limited seating and it's all outdoor. We couldn't really sit together at a table so had to sit at a high top bar. There are a lot of cute stores and tastings around the restaurant so definitely do still recommend stopping here! read more

I've been here a few times and this place never disappoints. This time we tried the Banh Mi and Hot Dog both were jammed packed full of flavor. The truffle fries are amazing and crispy. You won't fail trying this place read more

Probably the most affordable place in Downtown Napa which could be missed if you don't see the "door." We asked the cashier what the best two dishes were and he told us the Banh mi sandwich and the Buddha bowl with chicken which was almost $40! The banh mi sandwich was juicy and the pulled pork literally dripped down my elbow. I personally prefer the original Vietnamese sandwich but it was a good interpretation of it. The Buddha bowl was really tasty. The ingredients were fresh and had a good amount of chicken added to the bowl. There was a little makeshift patio on the street which was very sunny. They do have some vegan options on the menu. I believe the chili is vegan but the chain sandwich and other sandwich aren't vegan because they use buttermilk in the batter
