We visited Napa for a weekend getaway and were looking for something a little different from the usual local cuisine. That's how we stumbled across this spot--and I'm so glad we did. The place was packed for dinner, so we grabbed seats at the bar, which actually turned out to be a great choice. We ordered the Veggie Momos, the Mixed Grill Plate, and the Saag Paneer. Despite how busy the restaurant was, the food arrived quickly and piping hot, clearly fresh from the kitchen. The veggie momos were a standout--juicy, perfectly seasoned, and paired with a sauce that had just the right amount of heat. For dessert, we tried the rice pudding and the gulab jamun, both of which were delicious and a great finish to the meal. Service was impressively smooth given the dinner rush. I ended up chatting with the owner and learned that this restaurant is a local favorite and has even been featured on the Bay Area TV segment Check, Please!. I also found out that the owner leads Himalayan treks twice a year, which was a fun surprise and definitely piqued my interest. Overall, this place exceeded expectations. The restaurant itself is cozy and clean and we sat in a booth table in the back. We ordered the momo platter, samosas, vegetable tandoori, salmon and eggplant curry, lamb tikka masala, garlic naan, and rice to go with everything. I really liked the lamb momos, samosas, and the salmon and eggplant curry with the garlic naan. Everything was cooked well with good flavors. I think the lamb in the tikka masala was a bit dry for my taste, but the flavor was there. We also had their chai and mango lassi, both of which were sooo good. Having grown up in NY there were endless options and most of them were pretty damn good. That being said Yak & Yeti is hands down the best Indian food I have ever had!!! The staff is so nice, they let you know spice levels in their dishes, explain what is in everything and made great recommendations for the little one. The inside is cozy and warm, very inviting, it's almost like you're sitting down at grandmas house for a family meal. The food is just absolutely amazing, there wasn't one thing that we tried that we didn't like. I have been dining at Yak and Yeti since 2016 and every time has been consistent as the first. The ambiance is comforting with artwork from Nepal and the Himalayas, there is a bar and TV in the restaurant. They also have outdoor dining that is enclosed incase of wind or rain. Staff is nice and hospitable, checking in to see if we need anything and that our drinks are topped off. My go to is always the Salmon Tikka Masala with coconut milk (makes for a creamier curry) with the garlic, cilantro naan bread. We had the mono sampler. To be honest these were some of the best I have ever had! The mild sauce was full of flavor and the hot had a nice lingering heat to it. Went here for lunch! My fiance and I got the chicken tikka masala and saag paneer lunch specials, respectively, and I got a margarita. The margarita was pretty good, not great - needed more tequila, but I really was grateful that it tasted fresh and was not syrupy sweet. The FOOD! The food was delicious. The lunch specials were the perfect amount of food. We both got medium spice and it was just enough heat without burning your face off. Everything was insanely flavorful and fresh, and the naan was the underrated star of the show - it was probably the best naan i've had. I would absolutely come back here next time we're in the area! Ate here in person yesterday with my partner after only having ordered to go. Very nice experience. Friendly service. Had chicken tikka masala with rice and naan. I'm glad to report that the minor disappointment I had with the chicken on my first to go order has not reoccurred and everything was perfect. My favorite thing about this restaurant is how buttery/creamy the tikka sauce is and the naan. That is the fastest way to my heart apparently. Delicious! We will be back. Featured on Check Please, Bay Area. I ordered the recommended Chicken 65. It was only ok. I should have ordered it medium as the mild was a bit too bland for me. There mild really is mild. I'm used to the mild being a bit spicy and it going up from there. The good thing was the Chicken 65 is all chicken so for $20 it's not a bad deal for the amount of chicken you get. Decor was nice, It's filled with pictures of Yetis and Yaks. Very fun decor. They also have won many awards. They have a full bar that takes up one side of the restaurant. Two people dining alone sat at the bar. I would return, but I would order everything medium? I'm not sure I would order Chicken 65 again. I think I'll try something different next time. As the night progressed more large parties arrived. Our server gave us extra garlic cilantro naan bread. We ordered chicken momo (steam dumpling), chicken Tikka masala (most popular), chicken tandoori (sizzling platter), chicken 65 (must try) . Food portions served family style. We had a hearty meal and so stuffed. Fun facts: this place shares the same name with a Yak & Yeti restaurant in Disney World Animal Kingdom theme park that also serves the same cuisine but not the same owner and this place is more authentic. Love this small family sun restaurant! Felt as if I was sitting in their home having a home made meal prepared for me. Liked it so much I returned on a second evening for dinner. Had the lamb tikka the first night. The meat was so tender and delicious! The curry was also outstanding! Also had the lamb viryani which was also delicious! The food did not stand out in a good or bad way and the service was decent. The interior was nice and they had incense burning. I ordered the special lunch combo with lamb curry. I inquired what type of curry the lamb was prepared in and didn't get a direct answer, but got the gist of it. It was fine, not as spicy as I had hoped, 0- mild spice for me. Honestly very under whelming. (I enjoy spice that makes my eyes water and nose run while still being able to taste the food, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.) I, was recommended to get medium heat by the waiter as it was a dairy free curry and it was implied it would be too spicy for me to handle. The lamb was also a little tough and the people I was eating with were also disappointed in their meals for their own reasons. I do recommend ordering the Veggie momo and pakoras, were shared some and they were decent. I might give this place another go in the future. read more

One of the best that we've tried in various Nepali restaurants, even better than the ones you can find in the Bay Area. They serve you the momos with tomato achar (sauce) and if you like it spicy, ask them for the spicy one; it is . The chicken tandoori and biryani is also good. Yak and Yeti is a great hole-in-the-wall place for hearty Nepalese food. Never had Nepalese food before? Do you enjoy curry and coconut milk flavors? You'll probably like Yak and Yeti. What to order -Saag paneer is creamy and filling, like a pleasantly spiced spinach artichoke dip -Lamb tikka masala -Garlic naan -One of the Yak and Yeti draft beers, produced by Napa Smith Brewing -If you're not in a beer mood, the mango lasi is also good. A few things to note: -The medium spicy level for the saag paneer tasted mild to me, about a 3 or 4 out of 10 -The medium for the tikka masala tasted spicier to my husband, but wasn't so hot that you can't enjoy it, he said -I tried to order a paneer tikka masala, but the server said they don't serve that for religious reasons. I don't fault them for that, but it's just something to note. I'm used to having the paneer tikka masala from Curry Up, so I was just a little surprised. No big deal though. read more
