I was visiting Napa for a day and had this place bookmarked due to the high reviews. Came right at opening at 11am and everything was clean and inviting. Service was quick as you order at the counter and they'll bring out your food. There is some indoor bar seating but mostly seating outside. The tacos were good to satisfy cravings, but not quite sure I'd necessarily return. So, I'm going to start this review off by saying that I am (well, was) not a huge taco fan. I have gone next door to Y & Y like a hundred times and always wondered about Mothers Tacos. But then I always go, nah, they're just tacos, right? Wrong. Definitely wrong. In a world where most restaurants exist solely to heat up whatever the Sysco truck drops off, something is different here. The carne asada was PERFECT. Cooked just right. The tortillas were the perfect texture to serve as a carrier for the contents of the taco. And whatever vegetably thingies were included were delish too - and that's coming from someone who doesn't typically like anything even remotely green except for pesto. Maybe they were onions, I don't know, but who cares. They were good. I don't know if it's fresh, quality ingredients or that they care about what they're doing or both but... y'all just made me want to learn to cook. Oh, and the margarita was excellent, too. No complaints there. Employees and owner all friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about providing great service and great food. F O O D Tacos are served on a single handmade corn tortilla that had the texture of al vapor from the piping hot proteins. They're topped with diced onions and cilantro. * Lengua: Beef Tongue My litmus test for any taqueria or taco truck, this was some of the best lengua I've had. Juicy, meltingly tender, and deeply beefy...cut in meaty slices, not cubes which made every bite even better. We contemplated returning the next day for more but were still full from brunch. * Cabeza: Beef Head Rich and savory with some fatty bits...melt in yo mouff like beef butter. The inside of this spot is no-frills. Go up to the counter, make your order, and if you're staying they will hand you a number to place at your table so that they can bring your food to you. Taco prices generally range from 4.50 to 5.45. The only exception? The fish taco --- that's gonna bite you at 7.75. If you want to upgrade any taco (except the fish) into a mulita (these are sandwiching meat and melted cheese between two warm tortillas, which are then grilled or pan-fried until the outside is crispy.), that'll bring each taco to $7.75 each. So if you're not careful and on a budget, you can easily splurge. The taste? Honestly, my "mexican food craving" was absolutely satiated at Mothers! So why the 4-stars? Well, I love cebollitas --- and I didn't get any!! I'm now looking at all the other photos of Yelpers, and they seem to all have that on their plates, except for mine. I spent the weekend in Napa and visited Mother's Tacos for lunch. I arrived on Sunday and it was super busy. The line was out the door. While in line I was able to download their app and sign up for rewards. The app had a $5 off your order coupon which was awesome. The outdoor dining area was packed with customers so I placed an order to go for Dirty Fries, a Al Pastor Taco, and a Campechano Taco. They had a salsa bar with various salsas which is great as I like to try difference sauces. The Dirty Fries were packed with toppings and the sauce was amazing. My boyfriend had been talking about this place so relentlessly that, eventually, he had no choice but to drive me up to Napa and prove why he simply could not shut up about it. Once we were inside we took in the menu, drinks and atmosphere and the lady waiting on us was patient. We also met a nice older gentleman that struck up a conversation with us. He was extremely friendly and he let us know that everything on the menu was a winner. After ordering my taco, margarita and chips I later found out he was the owners son and he was in town visiting. Updating my first review. Mothers Tacos continues to be a fantastic place for delicious tacos and family hospitality. The pastor is consistently juicy, flavorful and made with love. They didn't have the tripas this time around so I got the chicharron and it didn't disappoint. Nice and crunchy. What set this visit apart was all the hospitality and community. I came with my wife and with my newborn and there were families and little kids playing outside. Each family saw our little girl and congratulated me and my wife. As we were wrapping up our meal, I heard the chef speak with someone (who I find out later to be Ben the owner) about menudo (one of my favorite dishes) and I asked when she would be serving it. She said she has it on the weekends, so I told her we would be back. Less than 5 min later she brings out a bowl for me to try. I WAS ECSTATIC. No lie the menudo warmed up my soul. It was delicious, the tripe had that nice bite/chew but wasn't chewy and the broth was soo flavorful. My wife later mentioned that the chef was talking to the owner, Ben, and his wife was actually eating with their kids at the table beside us. Driving back from Sacramento, we made a pit stop in Napa for some great tacos. The staff was friendly and directed us to the menus on the wall before we ordered. Our spicy margaritas came out first, with the perfect blend of sweet, sour, and spice. We sat outside in the sunshine, with no trouble finding a table with the large outdoor patio. I got a taco de lengua (only available Fri-Sun), al pastor, and asada. The lengua was excellent - tender and tasty though the tortillas did struggle to hold together a little due to all the juices. I'm typically a fan of al pastor more than asada, but the asada here is great - not too dry or tough as asada can be at some places, and flavorful. The al pastor was also good, with great texture, but not as flavorful as I expected. I love that the tacos come with a good amount of onion and cilantro, and the servings are very generous - 3 tacos was definitely enough for a good sized meal. They also offer 4 different salsas, pickled onion, and pickled veggies at a self serve bar inside! I also tried the pescado, suadero and chicarron tacos my friend got - these were also great and the fish was perfectly crisp without being heavy. Mulitas are like a sandwich made with two quesadillas and meat filling with cheese and onions too. And the sauce was fire; tasted like some type of chick-fil-a sauce variation. It was also our first time trying mulitas, which are basically just like taco quesadillas, in a sense. What a hidden gem in Napa! In all the times I've gone to Napa we've always gone to Oxbow market for food since there are so many options. But today, I wasn't feeling anything at Oxbow. Mothers Tacos was only 8 mins away and had a lot of reviews. I was so happy we decided to come here instead because the tacos were so so good. They make their tortillas fresh right there in front of you. We ordered a side of tortilla chips and these are one of the biggest tortilla chips I've ever had but so light and crispy. There's 3 different type of salsa on the side and super fresh pico de gallo. Beware their pickled veggies are spicyyy. The carne asada was super juicy and delicious. Al pastor meat was a bit dry with the fresh pineapple on top was a nice touch. Will def be coming here for quick delicious lunch when we're in Napa next. read more

This is one of my go-to spots in Napa to grab food from. They actually grill the meat outdoors so you can taste the char. When I've gone everything has tasted fresh, but I will say the closer that you go to closing time the more risk that the meat has been off of the grill for a while. I haven't had issues with dry meat though so no complaints from me, a lot of places don't even grill their asada. I'm a fan of the carne asada tacos and mulitas, I like to get one of each. I've tried the suadero and it was decent, but for me it was a one and done. There are vegan and seafood options here too. It's in a shopping center so parking is easy. It's in between downtown Napa and Trancas St so I find the location to be super convenient. They do have a few high top chairs indoors but its usually to crowded for that to be enjoyable. Most of the seating is outside and I hate eating outdoors and defending my food against bugs. I order to go so that I can eat in my car or take it home. You can order ahead online and they also have an app. If you do enjoy the food then make an account so that you can earn rewards and get random deals. read more

Went here for the first time and omg, I thoroughly loved my Melitas! They were soooooo good and it was the best food to have after a long day in the sun visiting all of the wineries.
