I've seen this place featured on Social Media from a few people I follow, so I knew I had to match their energy and try this place out. I've been eating a lot of asian dishes + wine tastings in this time, that Mexican food has escaped me! NOT THIS TIME! I'm in California, and I will find good Mexican Tacos even if it kills me. The inside of this spot is no-frills. Go up to the counter, make your order, and if you're staying they will hand you a number to place at your table so that they can bring your food to you. Taco prices generally range from 4.50 to 5.45. The only exception? The fish taco --- that's gonna bite you at 7.75. If you want to upgrade any taco (except the fish) into a mulita (these are sandwiching meat and melted cheese between two warm tortillas, which are then grilled or pan-fried until the outside is crispy.), that'll bring each taco to $7.75 each. So if you're not careful and on a budget, you can easily splurge. The taste? Honestly, my "mexican food craving" was absolutely satiated at Mothers! So why the 4-stars? Well, I love cebollitas --- and I didn't get any!! I'm now looking at all the other photos of Yelpers, and they seem to all have that on their plates, except for mine. ALSO: as good as the fish tacos were, and they were generous (two pieces!), the oil at 6PM tasted a bit old. THANK GOD LIME EXISTS to cut through the fat. Most tables have all 4 salsas present; the jalapenos and pickled onions you will have to get for yourself. All-in-all, a great tasting taco, a clean establishment, and actually quite beautiful in presentation. This place does live up to the hype! If you're in Napa, check Mothers Taco out!

The flavors on the proteins were delicious. My favorite was the al pastor with the pineapple on top. So juicy and has a nice hint of sweetness. They were generous and filled me up! It also comes with a very large onion on top which I had trouble eating but had good flavor. The loaded fries were decent. I wish it had more sauce as the bottom can get pretty plain with no meat or sauce. I would definitely come back. They were quick to bring the food out as well.

Mothaaaaaaaaaaaaa of all the mothers! This was my first stop in Napa, and WOW, what a way to kick off my trip! Mothers Tacos is tucked at the end of a shopping strip. The store was clean, the staff was friendly, and all the locals we spoke to raved about the place and now I know why! I ordered tortilla chips, 2 carne asada tacos, and a frozen mango margarita. Hands down some of the best tacos I've ever had, and that Mango Margggggg... absolutelyyy unbeatable! ‍ If you're in Napa, this place is a must! Incredible food, refreshing drinks, and a vibe that screams local love!

suadero, chicharrón and pescado tacos

I stopped by Mothers Tacos around 6pm on a Friday, and it was pretty busy - though we were still able to grab a table under the outdoor tent by the heater. I've heard great things about Mothers Tacos and was excited to finally give it a try! Having lived in San Diego I was very hopeful to find some great tacos in the area, and the vibe inside was definitely that of a classic taqueria - small but cozy, with an assortment of outdoor seating. I got a taco de lengua (only available Fri-Sun), al pastor, and asada. The lengua was excellent - tender and tasty though the tortillas did struggle to hold together a little due to all the juices. I'm typically a fan of al pastor more than asada, but the asada here is great - not too dry or tough as asada can be at some places, and flavorful. The al pastor was also good, with great texture, but not as flavorful as I expected. I love that the tacos come with a good amount of onion and cilantro, and the servings are very generous - 3 tacos was definitely enough for a good sized meal. They also offer 4 different salsas, pickled onion, and pickled veggies at a self serve bar inside! I also tried the pescado, suadero and chicarron tacos my friend got - these were also great and the fish was perfectly crisp without being heavy. Overall, Mothers Tacos is a great place for tacos, and worth a visit! I'll definitely be back for the lengua, suadero, pescado and asada tacos, and perhaps to try the Dirty Fries when I'm really craving a good plate of carne asada fires.

Chicharron Mulita

This place is amazing. The first time I went here, what this place had to offer was spectacular. My favorites are the chicharron mulitas and the dirty fries. Mulitas are like a sandwich made with two quesadillas and meat filling with cheese and onions too. The dirty fries are waffle fries style with special sauce, pickled onions, cheese, and you can sub pastor meat for mushrooms. Food here is lit. The service is always excellent and the workers know what they have to do to satisfy us. The ambiance is amazing, you can sit outside too. The place is always with tourists or folks visiting Napa for a day. I am coming back here for sure. Food here is lit!

My taco is floating in oil. This was before I put salsa on it.

Why is my Taco floating in oil? Now I cannot eat it. Gross. The customer service was great! Can you please stop adding oil to the bottom of your tacos please?

Lengua and pollo asado tacos

Stopped by for a super quick bite and was not disappointed! Both chicken and lengua were tender and delicious. I also love the branding and overall interiors of the restaurant. There's outdoor seating but it's covered and heated, perfect for the wintertime.

After years of my workplace being catered by Mothers Tacos, I finally had the chance to visit their store front and enjoy their food fresh. Loved that they had traditional green onion bulbs with their tacos but the star of the show was their pescado taco. Fried perfectly, good serving size, and a lot of flavor. The inside has limited bar seating but they have plenty of outside seating perfect for this upcoming warmer Napa spring weather to come.

Good tacos wish they had grilled fish. The fried fish was tasty. Chicken had good flavor .

Seen this place and finally had a chance to try. Tucked into the corner of a strip mall, we walked in and grabbed menus. There's a small bar and counter for ordering drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We were greeted warmly by the staff and ordered some tacos and drinks. There's tons of seating outside with a covered tent and picnic tables. Food came out promptly. We ordered chicken and beef tacos, fish and chicharron. The tacos were packed and fresh. Rice and beans were also really great. Washed it down with a margarita and my husband had a beer. Really kind staff and chill place to eat humble well made food. Will definitely come back.

dirty waffle fries, chicharron bites, fish tacos

Craving Mexican food after day-drinking in Napa? Mothers Tacos got you! It was especially vibey when we came at night with the string lights on their patio and Bad Bunny music playing. We wanted to try a little bit of everything so between my husband and I, we ordered: dirty waffle fries, chicharron bites, 2 mulitas, 4 fish tacos, and 2 micheladas. This was definitely way too much food as we had plenty of leftovers. The chicharron bites were the only food that I would not recommend. When you think chicharron, you think deep-fried and crispy. Unfortunately they weren't that crispy and also could have used some more salt. Now onto the good. Honestly, the dirty waffle fries took the unexpected spotlight. Whenever I have any type of fry that has sauce in it, it's usually at the least, the tiniest amount of soggy. But here, the waffle fries somehow all remained ultra-crispy. And the sauce was fire; tasted like some type of chick-fil-a sauce variation. It was also our first time trying mulitas, which are basically just like taco quesadillas, in a sense. A bit too heavy for my taste, but if you love cheese you'd probably enjoy them. The fish tacos were good, but not the best I've had. I like how they give you a giant charred green onion per person which seems to be their signature mark. Additionally, they have pickled jalapeños, cauliflower, carrots, and onions that are available for you to just grab right next to their register. BOMB! The jalapeños were actually spicy. They also have an array of salsas at each table.

Carmina R.

My favorite fish tacos in Napa! The orange sauceee they drizzle on it is something if and gives it a lil spicy kick. It's messy to eat, but worth it-- no one watching you eat it anyway. I'd order 4 if my scale wasn't giving and pockets weren't lacking tbh. Outdoor covered seating and uncovered seating to soak up the sun and pretend you on a little vacay with your horchata. If you have a picky eater and tired of ordering quesadillas. Get waffle fries + add meat for a change. Good enough for my 8 year old

Regular & very, very good Margarita

WOW. So many places to eat in Napa within a 5 mile radius but I needed a pet friendly places as well & since it was 90 degrees I wanted to be outdoors. And @MotherstacosNapa checked all the boxes. I was surprise of the location in a strip mall, but strategically located at end of building which gives them a nice side patio. I literally arrived about 2 minutes before the end of "Happy Hour" but that wasn't the selling point. This place is FUN, they were doing a fundraiser Lotería(Mexican Bingo) and Daniel Martinez @casamartinezwines was pouring his wines to boot. I ordered 2 tacos, pastor(spiced pork) and chicharrones(crunch pork pieces) what can I say I was on a pork binge. The presentation was great with 2 big perfectly grilled green onions too. I also saw people with a beautiful mango margarita, it was orange in color with tagine(spice)around the rim. I kinda had Margarita envy. But my regular Margarita was on point, tangy & salted rim that went perfect with the spicy salsas I added to my tacos. I'll add this was a drink made there, not premade. It was very, very good. The interior is small & industrial vibe, order at counter & they bring food out to the table. They do have some stationary stools by the large windows. Service was great. Everyone hard at work. And plenty of locals dining there. So glad I drove a bit away from downtown Napa & tried Mothers Tacos and met Daniel Martinez a Mexican, Napa winemaker too.

Got the carnitas burrito and carne asada / carnitas tacos. Sadly it was all a miss. Almost everywhere in Napa gives complimentary chips salsa, maybe $1 or 2 for refill or no charge at all . Tannyas charges $4 for stale rock hard cold corn chips and charge for extra salsa. No refills! I wouldn't even mind paying for chips and salsa if it was good, but it just wasn't at all. Not BAD but ive had better at home or from the grocery store. The burrito was fairly small. Super Average filled with subpar bland spanish rice & refried beans. Carnitas was dried out. We ordered a couple more tacos those were sadly really uneventful. Super dry. Old. Not much flavor. Hard shell was tough brittle. Almost cut up my mouth a few times on the chips. Hopefully tannyas can get it together. Bring back the good food.

The guy said something I have NEVER HEARD before- he said they can't do that because they'd have to mix the meat... well, whatever I just got carne asada with half red and half green sauce-hold all guacamole because I'm ALLERGIC to avocado (I know, bummer). Plates came out very quickly and whaddyah know, big ole blop of guac. I reminded him I'm allergic and he seemed bothered, took my plate quickly away and returned less than two minutes later with what seemed to be the same plate with the guacamole scraped off. Staff came out from the back and were looking at me. It was no bueno. Anyhow, being that I hadn't eaten all day I just ate around that part, and it was just ok. The carne asada seemed boiled or something, I prefer a char on my carne asada so I don't recommend if you do as well. My partner had the cheese enchilada plate which was also meh and bland. With all the Mexican food choices in Napa, this place has fallen under the bar for me and I most likely will not return.
