Mmm... Villa Corona's "The Works" nachos continue to be one of my faves, even if it has the nacho cheese sauce. They're fully loaded with toppings, even having a surplus and so generously piled that I love having more chips to use it up! I love the fact that you can order a half portion of the nachos, since it's still a pretty hefty portion! They have a full bar area now and I believe they have a happy hour going on- I'll definitely need to check that out some time! They have a huge menu, which is a bit overwhelming (the screens that alternate between pages on the menu can have you scrambling to find your order or reading at a faster rate). We went prior to a lunch rush and they were busy on the phone and other employees hadn't arrived yet so it took a bit of a while to order and get orders in. However, once we sat, the food came out at a reasonable time. I'll still be returning when the nacho craving hits! read more

My husband is a Napa native who's been coming to Villa Corona for over 30 years. 2 weeks ago he ordered a couple of soft tacos and they completely messed up his order. Today, I convinced him to give them another chance, and I regret coming back. I ordered 4 carne asada soft tacos. The meat was undercooked, the bag of chips I ordered was staled and the salsa was water down. It's completely unacceptable this is not a cheap meal! Not to mention I ordered them to go and when I walked in, it took almost 10 mins before I got acknowledged by one of the employees at the register while my bag of food was sitting on the counter the whole time.... Solid small Mexican joint in a strip mall. Get your tacos then shop or the other way around. Generous portions, the plates come with rice and beans and the burritos are huge. The staff are friendly and efficient. It gets busy at lunch with a mix of locals and construction crews. Cutest restaurant! The decor was super cute. Salsa was off the hook but you had to pay extra for the chips and salsa but that was ok. I ordered the rancheras enchiladas and my friend ordered the chile relleno and enchilada. Portions were gigantic! We saw a burrito come out for another table and were amazed. Chicken was a tad dry in the enchilada but tasty. Lots of Cotija cheese which was excellent. Chile rellenos were super good and the sauce was very good. Used the leftover on the rice. The staff was nice and came by the table to ask how we were doing. This was very nice as they are set up like a taqueria where you order and pay at the counter then someone brings out the food. This would have been a 5 star plus from me but... The food, even though delicious, wasn't all that hot and got cold quickly because the restaurant was really cold inside (it was a rainy day). The only other thing is that we were sort of expecting chips and salsa at the start but I guess that's not a given here or they forgot us. Otherwise - best cheese I've ever had in a cheese enchilada. The sauce on the chile rellano was so so so good and more like a lite tomato sauce that didn't overpower the chile like all other places do with their thick red or green sauces. The rice and beans were very good, I just wish there was a small dollop of salad which is something I like to combine with whatever's left on my plate at the end but that's a personal thing I think. Also the horchata was really good. Service was good. The decor is amazing, I loved the tables, and the bar area looked so inviting. and the place seemed to be very clean as well. The food at the Napa location never disappoints. I have tried both Vacaville and St Helena locations and once would not go back to them. They are renovating and opening up a bar- they have limited cocktails right now in the mean time so that's very exciting for locals! read more

Not sure what has happened, but the food has become so-so and the prices are sky high, with the portions of meat barely there. Sometging has really changed over the last 6 monthd. Chips are best in town, but a bag of chips has become smaller and smaller. Now a surcharge to use a credit card. Very disappointing! Ordered items were thrown together with very little meat in super burrito and tamales. The little bit of beef meat was mostly fat and the chicken was dry. They left off the cheese and sauce on the super burrito and failed to include it on the side at all. The tamale was mostly corn meal and very little chicken. What has happened to this place? The prices are high and the quality is not there! Cannot believe what we paid for this; only to be so disgusted enough to throw it away. I've been going to Villa Corona since I could remember, they used to be a smaller location & they had a van that would deliver bread to Calistoga always the best memory for me. My parents would take us there to eat on Sunday's the food was always authentic and delicious. Unfortunately I haven't been to this location in a long time but every time I go to Napa I try to stop by. Friday, was one of those days. Unfortunately the good was met, and to my surprise there was yellow cheese on my sopes I literally was WTF!! I've never seen that before instead of using authentic quesos I get yellow cheese what is this taco bell . Very disappointed, I'm not sure if the same family owns it but yellow cheese should NEVER be on mexican food period. My food was tasteless but my agua de Jamaica was good. This is my second review of their Chili Verdi burrito & it will be my last. So on Villa Coronas menu there is a Chili Verdi Burrito, however they should either rename it, take it off the menu OR actually put chili Verdi in the burrito. Both times i have received a tortilla filked with black beans & white rice and the verdi sauce with very little shreds of pork. I have not seen any chunks of pork or cheese( paid extra) in my burrito. The tortilla both times is gummy & slimy not appetizing at all. The service was good, I ordered through door dash, no problem there. Overall disappointing... If you choose to eat at the restaurant they have indoor/outdoor seating, you can order at the counter or at your table. Parking is ok also.. read more

Great new cocktails! I had the Paloma & my sister had the spicy margarita. The Paloma was served beautifully with half the rim sugar & half the time spicy tahin. We have been coming here for years, mostly take out. The last several times there has been almost NO meat in the burritos, mostly just rice and beans plus the quality and taste has gone way down and the prices are way up, by a lot. They have the best chips in town in our opinion but the bag is now half the size for the same price. We are now looking for a new favorite Mexican restaurant in Napa! A nice mall restaurant. You order your food at the window, then choose your seat. Food is brought to your table. Great menu, but WOW the prices are comparable to FINE dining. I had a burrito and my wife had two fish tacos. With ice tea drink, Our bill paid at the counter was $50. We chose an outdoor table which was nice even with the busy street noise. Our food arrived in good time both dishes hot and looked tasty, burrito wrapped in foil. For $50 lunch, we expected free chips and salsa. NONE brought out. Flavors were good. I cook good Mexican at home and we have been to nice Mexican restaurants too. Food was good, but I'm not sure we would return due to cost. Well, i have been here one time before and it was good. However, i my son and i made one other visit this past saturday 15 March. I was not impressed with the carne asada burrito. typically, i like chopped meat, not ground. as well, it was just messy to eat and the burrito fell apart and it was just frustrating. the taste was just okay, and it was not something that struck at me that i want to come here again. we were given chips and salsa and it was just bland. i don't think i'll come here again. i hope this critique makes a positive difference. i don't like posting these kind of comments. but i really hope the owner, management strives to make this the best mexican restaurant. i'm from albuquerque n.m. and it just did not strike at me as good. it was just okay. read more

This restaurant gets 3 stars mainly because of service and ambiance. The food and associated price for the food is not so good. Despite this being a sit-down, table-service restaurant, you still have to order your food at a walk-up counter inside. The menu is impossible to see until you are standing right at that counter, and even then one needs to bend over to look up and see it all. Nevertheless, our order was taken quickly and accurately despite the phone constantly ringing for to-go orders. The restaurant is decorated very nicely inside and out and is very well kept. The food was very meh. The one shining star was their coffee. My partner and I are chilaquiles aficionados. When we received our plates, they looked incredible. But the taste was very lacking. The only heat was from temperature. I poured Yucateco on and still was very meh. I'm not sure if there were eggs or meat in the chilaquiles. It didn't taste like it and we were not asked upon ordering what our choices were for those. I thought perhaps it was just the chilaquiles that were lacking. After all, the restaurant was busy. I should have noted that most people were having soup. Menudo or pozole, I assume. So I tried my kid's breakfast burrito with carnitas which he had stopped eating and declared that he was full, but did not need to take the rest home. I mean, it's got carnitas in it, right? It has to taste good, right? Wrong; also bland. I took a big bite right in the middle of the meat and I swear I would have never guessed that it was carnitas or even meat. No flavor or texture despite what my eyes saw. So I parted with over $60 (with tip) for three meals which no one at the table particularly enjoyed. At least I wasn't still hungry. Good food hiding in the corner! We were in Napa, we were hungry, and we were near Bel Aire Plaza. A quick emergency meeting of minds concluded that Mexican food was the desired solution of all involved! That is when my project manager side jumped into action and with lightning speed pulled my iPhone out and searched for the nearest options! Villa Corona was just there hiding around the corner, so a quick turn and there were were in the parking lot! We were lucky to get a table quickly. The servers were awesome. The food arrived quickly and it was delicious. Our server was kind enough to bring a small container of water for our puppy who was very thirsty. I'll admit I was a taken a back on the price of Burritos, after ordering to go. Their website is not up to date on prices, but I was in fancy Napa, in a strip mall not in the heart of tourism. They were flavorful, they even cut them in half, as I requested, so I wouldn't be tempted to gorge on the whole thing. I got two meals out of it. But don't expect chips or salsa which is standard for most Mexican restaurants. Out the door you go. Next time I'm gonna sit inside & make the best of being waited on & tip the server too. The restaurant has outdoor seating as well as indoor, it's a cute spot and good Mexican food. I'd go again it's that good. read more

Food was great but I am definitely put off by the in person price increase implemented at the cash register. It was definitely an up charge from the posted prices. When I confronted the cashier he said they had a price increase but I checked the online price and it agreed with what was posted in the restaurant. It's pretty shady to just up charge like that.
