    Pork chop

Came here on a Tuesday night for some amazing food and we got a fire show too! As you walk in you're greeted by friendly staff who offer to take your coat while you enjoy your dinner. The ambiance was classical and calm. They have live music. We ordered a good amount of food. We got the calamari, the escargot, wild mushrooms, dry aged Washington heritage pork chop and the flaming sword brochette of tenderloin & New York. I'll start off with the food we liked the most which was the brochette of tenderloin & New York. The meat was perfect, super tender and you can taste the fire. It also comes with a fire show which I highly recommend. Next was the mushrooms, they were cooked to perfection and the seasoning was spot on. The Pork chop was also very delicious. It was a thick cut of meat and charred on the top. I believe it also had huckleberry sauce which gave it sweetness. The calamari tho was okay, I thought it could have been crispier and the escargot lacked flavor compared to other escargot's I've had in the past. Overall, we had a great time. Food was great, fire show was amazing, great staff and awesome ambiance. Will definitely be coming back in the future!

Went to El Gaucho to celebrate my husband's birthday and it is one of the best things that we have here in Idaho! Love the food presentation, staff, and the food itself. Ambiance was lovely and intimate with the live piano playing! Would definitely come back here again, and try out their other food on their menu. I was disappointed to Jo because our personalized menu was thrown away by one of the staff.

Absolutely 100% I recommend El gaucho! I love the staff they really make you feel individualized and they make the entire experience. From the menu to the food, it is incredible. The steak is cooked perfectly the tableside Caesar is such a fun experience. The desserts are fabulous. They time every course perfectly. The entire restaurant feels like a moody relaxing oasis it almost feels like you're not even In Boise. The bar is perfect, and the bartenders are extremely knowledgeable. So exciting to see more fine dining in Boise.

We got to be a part of an industry night here and was really impressed with the small bites, steak and bananas foster. The cocktails were other worldly - especially the Old Forrester Old Fashioned.

The dinner service was very very good. The bar and dining room are very nice and the live piano was great. Part of the issue was that our reservation was late for our usual dinner time. That's not their fault at all. Not having a table ready until ten minutes after wouldn't have been that big of a deal if we weren't already later than usual and they didn't communicate well and we weren't literally just 20 feet away in the bar. Having to check ourselves felt a bit lazy. We started with a simple wedge salad. It was very good. They brought their famous bread to the table and it was also very good. Our table shared the Mac n Cheese. It was awesome. Highly recommend. Now the bad news. The biggest issue, and the severe disappointment was the steaks. For a place that puts itself out there as the best steakhouse! My "medium" Filet, which was described as mostly pink with a little cool center. Was very "well" done. Hardly any pink at all. For the price they want, there is no way a steak that far off should have been served. My daughter's medium rare steak was slightly better, but not even close to on point. Maybe "medium" but probably more like "medium well". Two of our steaks were cooked correctly and I think they were good. Not amazing, but very good. 2/4 isn't good enough for a place that charges this much money. I hope it's just the fact that they're new and the kinks aren't worked out yet. We also had the famous bananas foster desert, and it was very much as advertised. Awesome presentation and was wonderful. The QC has got to improve. We will wait a while, a long while, to try again. I'm sure they'll figure it out but it definitely lest a bad taste in our mouths. Literally.

Tucked into one of the cozy two-seat booths at El Gaucho, we enjoyed a relaxed, intimate dinner that felt like a true night out.

We've made it a point to try all of the newer steakhouses around Boise, and El Gaucho easily stands out. The steak here was, without question, the best we've had--perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and clearly high quality. The experience was made even better by our server, Ashley, who was kind, attentive, and an absolute delight throughout the evening. From start to finish, everything felt polished but still warm and welcoming. This one immediately goes to the top of our list. Five stars, no hesitation.

    Key lime pie.

Great service! Filet Oscar is amazing, crab Mac was great, mushrooms were bland. Don't order the key lime pie unless you just want to eat a spoon full of sugar. Texture is off of whipped cream, powdery and gritty and no lime flavor- way too sweet

It's very inviting, if not decadent feeling. Unfortunately, the food and drinks were lacking. My mocktail was recommended by our server, but it was much too sweet, and had a weird aftertaste. We ordered chips, guac, and it came with two versions of salsa. One was incredibly bitter (tasted very vinegar-y), while the other just tasted strange. Neither me or my husband like it. The guac, however, was very good. We ordered the Seafood Ceviche, which is a dish we usually love, but not so much here! It was covered in an orange sauce that was overly acidic. It was so much and so acidic, we couldn't taste the seafood. It was lost in the sauce. It seems as though whoever's in the kitchen lacks some culinary intuition. The staff were good. Here's some food review: The steak tartar lacked salt. But the flavor and quality of the beef was good. The duck fat potato didn't come with the trout caviar on top. It was crispy on the outside. Mush on the inside. The sauce lacked salt and needed more of a flavor punch. The curry snapper needed more curry taste but the dish was cooked very well. The duck confit was just okay in my opinion. Again, lacked salt again. The duck was fall of the bone tender but was placed on top of a miclx of mushy lentils and salad, not my jam. The ribeye was cooked well but in my opinion, a steak shouldn't be presented already cut. Would I go again? Yes. I'd take a date for a few cocktail and a nice meal. But did it wow me? Service wise. That is the description of what I ordered for their handmade fresh pasta rigatoni that I got. Let me just say that all these flavors that they put into one dish were absolutely amazing. This is a very small restaurant and there's only so many tables to get. I was able to sit at the bar which Aisha was the bartender. He did an amazing job and really helped lead me to my order of ordering the rigatoni. I had a beer with dinner and I did not order dessert. First time in Boise, Idaho, visiting for the Boise Half Marathon. I ended up dining at Alavita…read moretwice -- once to carbo-load the night before my race, and again the day after as a recovery dinner. Alavita is an upscale Italian restaurant, and I'd recommend making reservations, especially for dinner. My first visit was with a reservation for one, while my second was a walk-in where I managed to snag patio seating. On my first visit, I started with the House-Baked Focaccia, which came with truffle-honey butter. The focaccia was light, fresh, and served pre-sliced. The honey and butter combination was absolutely divine and paired wonderfully with the bread. It honestly made me wonder why more Italian restaurants don't serve something similar. For my entrée, I ordered the daily special, which I believe was a cheese tortellini with shrimp and corn in a lemon garlic sauce. It was flavorful, deceptively filling, and paired well with the focaccia. While it wasn't the best pasta I've ever had, it was a satisfying and enjoyable pre-race meal. On my second visit, I started with the fennel and arugula salad, which featured fennel-apple slaw, pistachios, rehydrated cherries, lemon, olive oil, and shaved Parmesan. I particularly enjoyed the cherries and pistachios, which added nice sweetness and crunch. Not mind-blowing, but certainly good. For my entrée, I had to try the Rigatoni: braised local beef, black garlic-truffle butter, roasted local mushrooms, spinach, pickled red onion, lemon crema, and Grana Padano. I ordered it because so many reviews mentioned it. I don't eat beef very often, so this was a bit of a treat for me. The braised beef was tender and flavorful. Interestingly, my opinion of the dish changed as I ate it. Initially, I had it around a 3.5/5, but by the end it had climbed to a 4.5/5. This might sound strange, but I found that when I slowed down, closed my eyes for a bite or two, and really focused on the flavors, the dish came together much better. The richness of the braised beef, the garlic-truffle butter, and the mushrooms became much more noticeable, and I found myself appreciating the combination more and more with each bite. For me, it was one of those dishes that rewards slowing down and savoring it. Overall, I highly recommend Alavita for Italian food in Boise. The service was friendly, the food was thoughtfully prepared, and both meals left me satisfied. The lemon garlic shrimp tortellini special made for excellent pre-race fuel, and the rigatoni was a memorable post-race meal. I went on to finish 10th overall in the Boise Half Marathon despite rainy conditions and the challenges of running at a higher elevation than I'm used to, so I was certainly grateful for the quality food beforehand. Hope to be back the next time I'm in the Boise area. Visited June 2026.

It was a huge piece that I couldn't finish it. I ended up eating less than half and gave the egg to my friend to eat. I did like the fries. It was flavorful. My friends enjoyed their meals that they had no leftovers. Great location and delicious food. If you park in one of the street parking stalls, make sure you pay the meter.

It was raining so I decided to stop in for some clam chowder and salad. Amelie's did not…read moredisappoint. I travel to main yearly and eat clam chowder. I am no expert but I know this clam chowder is superb! Oh and that slice of bread? It was like a little crispy cloud of buttery goodness. I was only disappointed my husband wasn't there to share one of the seafood boils with. This would be a great date spot. One major tip if you go: save room for a slice of the brandy walnut cheesecake or get a slice to go. You will not regret it!!!

My personal experience here For my first time I have to say was pretty Good. I had the snow crab…read morelegs with roasted potatoes and corn on the cob segment. The dipping sauce was very tasty. As expected eating Snow Crab legs is work. It the crab scissors they supplied helped make it easy to extract. I'd order again I think. I tasted the halibut fish and chips and the portion of halibut was good and tasted great I didn't know it until afterwards that the charcuterie serving that was brought out was not on the menu but something they did just for us. I loved the meat, crackers and the cheese. The dates were nice additional as well. I had a Pinot Noir wine and it was pretty good. There was feedback about a beef dish that was returned as diners felt the meat was tough and fatty They were given credit for the meal and it was removed from their bill. There wasn't a full bar but I enjoyed the wine ( Pinot noir) I had. Others in my group had beer. The servers were delightful, attentive, accommodating and fun to interact with. Hopefully they remain in service as I'd like to give them another shot. Love to try the lobster next time and desserts. I highly recommend giving them a shot. PS. The decor is warm and homey feeling.
