Space is quite expansive and well spaced out with some patio seating. Ambience is nice and calm. The decor on the wall is interesting with some naked women as art. I would say this isn't a place for kids necessarily but the food is for the foodie kid(s). Not to say kids can't go there, it's just not tailored for them. Server was great. I believe her name was Jess, assistant servers were also attentive. We had the table side guac which is a must. I want to do the ceviche next time. Brought my daughter here for a date and she wasn't up for that, so next time! For dinner, I had the grilled seafood platter and daughter had the seafood chowder. Everything was delicious. Dinner with great friends following happy hour. At the table, we enjoyed old fashioned cocktails, the Uhue colada, and wine, a delicious bread appetizer with the olive tapenade being the star dip along with the rustic sliced bread, but the fire roasted tomatoes with goat cheese and other breads were delicious as well! The tableside Caesar was not our favorite Caesar, just lacked some creaminess, as the lemon was heavy and it was a bit on the soggy side. The clams were also not our favorite - we decided that we enjoy a wine base with Parmesan more than a tomato base. As for dinner, we enjoyed a Petit Tower, the salmon, and the Pork Carnitas, and for dessert, we enjoyed the coconut creme brûlée. All was satisfying. So this last weekend, we went back to Koa Del Mar after a couple of years. We took some visitors from out of town and it turned out to be a very good experience. Our waiter Joe was fantastic as was the food drinks and the ambience. We had one small mixup with food when it came out. Coa Del Mar is a beautiful waterfront restaurant with a sophisticated atmosphere and a swanky bar area that's perfect for cocktails before dinner. The wine list is extensive, and the menu offers plenty of appealing options. We started with the oysters topped with raspberry mignonette, which ended up being my favorite part of the meal. The combination was fresh, unique, and incredibly well executed. For our entrees, we ordered the Mahi Mahi with lobster and the Orange Roughy. While my Mahi Mahi was slightly overcooked, the drawn butter from the lobster helped bring it back to life and added great flavor. I wasn't a fan of the pineapple accompaniment, which tasted canned rather than fresh, but the sauce served alongside the dish was excellent. The Orange Roughy was the standout entree and definitely the better choice between the two. It was flaky, buttery, fresh, and cooked perfectly. Overall, Coa Del Mar delivers a gorgeous setting, excellent cocktails, friendly service, and some truly memorable dishes. While not every element of the meal was perfect, the oysters and Orange Roughy alone would have me coming back. read more

It's 4:10 am as I write this. I am paying dearly for eating there. Before we get to the biological effects of their meal let's talk about Coa Del Mar. An offshoot of Barbacoa (their foundation restaurant), they had so much to offer and potential. They desperately want to be upscale and command the prices of that lifestyle. It's all hype, marketing, and lifestyle. You can tell by the clientele they attract That is exemplified by their pricing which mind you has risen dramatically in the past year. A $50 steak is easily $75 now. A salad commands 50% more today. Sure we all are affected by inflation in this government but you better offer a $75 service. Well they didn't... 1. We arrive for our 6pm reservation to meet friends. The host, whose only real value is to be a hostess, sat us down at an empty table and forgot that our friends were waiting in the bar. That was awkward and certainly a failure of their one and only job. The funny part was the place was not even packed. Plenty of open seats. I mean it wasn't a GRE entrance exam to remember where our party was. But apparently it was an inconvenience for the young lady to break from her two other hostess friends in the middle of a good chat. The good news is we found our friends. I mean we have cellphones and text messaging. I suspect that is what the hostess expected. You know not to do her job as a hostess doing hostess things as a hostess. Totally inconvenient for her. 2. They sat us next to a massive indoor venting or hepa filter machine you see at a construction site. For 1/2 hour we couldn't even hear each other. 3. The bartender came over to deliver a drink and as I had a question if they could make me a rusty nail, she refused to even talk to me. She said and I quote "your waitress will be over to take orders. I can't help you". Again her single job is to make patrons welcome and for the love of god to answer a question about a drink. I'm starting to get a sense that no one really wants to work there. 4. The Barbacoa chain is known for table side guacamole. We ordered it like we had in the past. When you think of guacamole you think a creamy blend of avocados. Well indeed we got a server and he had avocados. What came out was the toughest and hardest guacamole dip. You could stick a fork in the bowl and pull out an entire avocado. You need titanium reinforced chips to break the barrier. All of us ended up scooping out the brick and mashing it ourselves. I hope we didn't bend the silverware. Again, he exemplified the lack of care. He just wanted the tip and to go home to play video games. That certainly was worth the inflated cost. 5. Now let's talk about diarrhea. You know what they say about incompetent chefs? They say "an incompetent chef is someone that hides their failures as overseasoning."Coa Del Mar doesn't fail there. I ordered the spare ribs. What I got was mashed, minced, puréed garlic with a hint of spare ribs. Everything was a sloppy mess of fat and garlic. I couldn't even finish it. It was like chewing on a garlic. Now I sit on my throne evacuating a mess of a meal the hard way. At 2am. At 3am. Shall we try 5am... that's just in a half an hour. This pleasant experience can be yours for the low price of $60 a meal, less sides, less drinks, less appetizers. Hey owners. The restaurant is wonderfully decorated, no doubt, and we got seated at a table for six right on the water. Beautiful views! The bar was hopping and lots of activity, and a fun vibe for sure. Our server, I didn't get his name, but he was wonderful and attentive. We also had a busboy assigned to the table, and he was, as he said, one day away from getting off of training. With that in mind, he had us passing water glasses so he could keep them full, which at this price point was a bit odd, but he was new. Super nice young man I will say! Started with Tableside Guacamole, and it was a bit hot, and they remade it without question, and I personally loved it! I then had the Tableside Caesar Salad, and sadly, it was no doubt the worst I have ever had, and I have had numerous. The lettuce was about 85% white vs the green and was knife-cut into such small pieces it was hard to get with your fork. The dressing, although made right there, had ZERO flavor! It was a Saturday night, but the tables were so close the back of my chair was constantly being knocked into and became annoying. Again, at this price point, they need to do a better job, I think. When the entrees got delivered, the server (not our waiter) actually handed me a scalding hot plate to pass, and I almost dropped it from the temperature! Another sign of poor training. My better half had the Maui Onion Soup and loved it. It was full of flavor and one of the better ones she had had, so that was great. I had their salmon, and sadly, again, it was without flavour. It was dry and overcooked, and even the sauce was unimpressive. That said, it looked amazing on the plate! A friend had the Macadamia Halibut with a similar experience. Another couple shared the Seafood Paella and said it was not prepared properly. I have never had it, so no idea. They indicated the rice was cooked separately, then added, and it should be prepared all together so the rice is infused with the fish flavors. I have no idea, but they seem to be experts! I have heard lots of mixed reviews since it opened, so I had to finally try myself. Broke my "never order octopus outside of Spain" rule and got the crispy octopus with chorizo appetizer. As they say, rules are meant to be broken. It was outstanding. Hand's down one of our favorite restaurants in the Treasure Valley. The entire experience was top tier. From service to food and everything in between. My husband and I dined at Coa Del Mar for our anniversary and we're already looking for a reason to come back. Here's a quick breakdown of our experience: * The ocean vibes are so fun. The detail they put into the designs are so cool from the octopus door handles to the jellyfish lights. * Everyone we encountered was incredibly friendly. Best service we've had in a while. * The food was top notch. My husband couldn't stop raving about the prime rib. He pretty much ate the entire thing and that's saying a lot. We wanted to take my daughter somewhere fun for her 21st. Coa Del Mar is in our area and perfect for her birthday dinner. We had a great experience the last time we were there for our company Christmas party. So I knew it was going to be amazing time for all of us for my daughter's birthday. Our reservation was for 7:30. We were sat shortly after we arrived. It was busy for a Tuesday night. Several large parties were going on and a lot of birthdays too. Menus and water was dropped off. Before we knew it, Gwen, our server greeted us and got our drinks started. We did want a "break it yourself" Ceasar salad as a starter so that was also turned in for us. The Ceasar salad was a good as I remembered. The salad was fresh and crisp. There was a generous amount of parmesan cheese. A huge piece of foccacia bread was placed on top of all that goodness. The best part was the parmesan bowl. It just adds such a crunchy element to the salad! So tasty. Dinner did take a minute to get prepared. There were two large parties that the kitchen was trying to smash out. No problem! We chilled and enjoyed our salad. Dinner did finally come out and man did everything look fantastic! My linguine fruitti de mare was beautifully plated. My daughter's seafood paella liked hearty and delicious. My husband's go to is the filet on the hot rock and as usual it look fabulous. The linguine was loaded with seafood! The lobster was charred and sweet. The clams and mussels were cleaned nicely and fresh. There were huge pieces of fish throughout the pasta dish. The tomatoe broth was rich in flavor and color. I appreciate that it wasn't overwhelming in basil as basil was described in the menu. I was surprised that there wasn't much heat to it since it mentioned spicy broth. I did get a side of chili flakes. Added some of it to my dish and it was perfection! My daughter's paella was delicious I had some of her rice. The bites I had were so flavorful, fluffy and had chunky pieces of chorizo. And the piece of filet my husband gave me was so tender and savory from the congac sauce. Gwen got my daughter a birthday treat! It was a big funnel cake topped with salted caramel ice cream. I love the firework type candle that they lit for my daughter. What a fun way to make a wish! I did have quite a few bites of the dessert despite of how full I was. The funnel cake was soft and sweet. The salted caramel ice cream was a great addition to the funnel cake. Each bite was yummy! I'm happy we got to come here to celebrate my daughter's special day. I was looking for a seafood restaurant to take my wife for her birthday. I chose Coa Del Mar because of the great reviews. I made a reservation for a Wednesday at 5 pm. I asked for a quiet booth and stipulated that it was my wife's birthday. We arrived closer to 4:30 but that was no problem. The restaurant is on Riverside Dr in Eagle but all the way past Edgewood. I didn't know it existed before I found it on Google. The ambiance is very nice. High ceilings with cool chandeliers and nice artwork on the walls. There is also a wall to wall wine rack on the left as you enter which added to the decor. It is carpeted, which acts as a buffer for the sound. The music was too loud for me but my wife and I could still talk and hear each other. It has an elegant, hip vibe. We were sat in a nice, spacious booth close to the outdoor dining in back that faces the pond. We could not see the water (no one can unless you are on the patio, which is too cold in January). Our server was Mykl, and she had a new server, Joseph, shadowing her. They were both awesome. Super nice, helpful, and attentive. Joseph is a recent transplant from another state, but I could tell he is an experienced server. Mykl explained the drink menu, and my wife had a mocktail while I had a Mother Earth hazy IPA. Very tasty. She explained the appetizer menu and made suggestions and we chose the fried calimari, which was delicious. For our main entrees, my wife had the grilled seafood platter and I had the Mahi Mahi and Maine lobster. Hers came with mashed potatoes and mine with rice. All delicious. They brought a complimentary dessert for my wife. It was like a creme puff without the creme and topped with vanilla ice cream and a sparkler. The pastry was a little tough but otherwise good. First of all the ambiance is spectacular. They really went all in on the sea decor, i especially love the octopus door handles on the front entry. I've eaten at this restaurant a couple of times and every time this service has been wonderful. But I especially like the bar. Servers are friendly and fun include you in jokes and recommend fantastic combinations of cocktails. My favorite dish so far is the halibut. Grilled to perfection and served over a coconut cream sauce. The shrimp cocktail Sauce is slightly smoky when you compare it to a traditional cocktail sauce and I like that a lot. I also have the maui onion soup , which is a little rich for the summer , but I imagine it would be amazing on a cold crisp day with their bread platter. And lastly , the short rib raviolis , I didn't get to try it , but the gentleman next to me was very vocal about how much he appreciated the flavor and quantity of that dish. Fantastic and well worth the drive if north Eagle is a bit out of the way for you. The decorative oceanic details were incredibly impressive, every staff member is extremely friendly, and the food is fresh and on point! While seafood is the main fare, there are other options such as hot rock steak (impress the crowd with the presentation on this one!), lamb, pasta, and a few other goodies. All the dishes have a wow factor so bring the out of town friends and family. Cocktails are fresh, great beer selection, and wine for the most discerning of palates. From the good things we had heard about Coa Del Mar, we didn't expect to be seated by a kid with a bull ring in his nose and facial piercings. I understand times have changed. When we walked in there were 6 girls standing behind the counter, we didn't have a good feeling from the beginning. My husband and I both had the sea bass, it was a little dry and lacking. Our first time at Coa Del Mar was excellent. We had the seafood paella, the Baja fish tacos, and the tableside guacamole, and every dish was super flavorful, balanced, and well seasoned. The paella was layered and bold, with seafood-forward flavor. The fish tacos were bright and crisp, with real heat and acidity instead of the watered down versions you find in places trying not to offend anyone. The guacamole was fresh, punchy, and well balanced. Service deserves praise as well. Our server was attentive without hovering and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The tableside guacamole was a standout not just for flavor, but for execution. The person preparing it seasoned it thoughtfully, had us taste it, and asked if we wanted any adjustments. No adjustments were needed. I saw a couple of low reviews claiming the food here is "too salty" or that everything "relies on salt," and honestly, I think that criticism misunderstands what's actually happening on the plate. Salt is being used exactly as it should be used, to amplify acid, spice, fat, and freshness. Nothing tasted heavy or one-dimensional. It was delicious. Took my wife here for dinner for her birthday tonight. It was our second time here. We first went in March and we've been talking about it ever since about how we should go there more often. We finally made it back and were super excited as our first experience there was simply amazing. The food, the service, the drinks, timing, everything perfect. Made a reservation four or five days ago and were super excited to sit on the patio tonight. Service was really terrible tonight. Our server was disheveled, a little crass, barely checked on us, had to ask for a drink twice, took about 20 minutes just to get my drink after we were seated at our table. Luckily my wife had already gotten a drink at the bar before we were seated. Appetizers were really good, she had the French onion soup, I had the crabcakes. Then we both ordered the tableside Caesar salad, that was pretty good.... just OK really. Very nice young man doing the tableside service, although he told us "I didn't even know how the Caesar salad was made until I started doing this!" Seriously? . Took forever to get plates cleared as our waiter would walk by us several times, no bus people showing up....nothing just sitting there with dirty plates after each course. Ordered another drink, same thing again, had to ask him again for my drink, sat there without a drink for another 15 to 20 minutes. Everything took forever and it really wasn't that busy. We both ordered the mahi and lobster entrée, and we're very disappointed. I had this last time and was blown away by it. The fish didn't have much flavor, had a bunch of brown banana in it, the lobster was tough and rubbery.....Super disappointed! our server really made us feel like we were eating at Denny's. Wow! Amazing food, outstanding service, and a fun atmosphere! Food: 4.5/5. First of all, the happy hour is great! We came here to celebrate some recent accomplishments and ordered two glasses of champagne. Our waiter said since it was happy hour two glass were the same price as the bottle so we thought "why not!" I ordered the steak and lobster with a side of risotto. I thought the steak, lobster and mashed potatoes were outstanding! I was a little disappointed by the risotto which is the only reason I am giving the food 4.5. The risotto was a little dry and just didn't really taste like anything. My husband got the mahi mahi and lobster and it transported us back to Hawaii. I think I would order that next time it was so good. I will say that the lobster and mahi mahi was an odd pairing though and would like just the mahi mahi plated by itself. For dessert we had the espresso and donuts. My mouth is still watering thinking about that dessert and was the perfect way to end our meal. The drinks were the perfect sweetness and the donuts were the perfect. Service: 5/5. Our waiter Patrick was very charismatic and attentive. He informed us of the happy hour and made sure we knew the dessert specials of the day. We were seated quickly even though it was packed and our food arrived in good time. Most people who visit Boise know about Barbecoa! It's a jewel of our restaurant community, with some exceptional dishes and full service experience. However, for old guys like me it's quite a 'scene' and one I don't truly enjoy. Coa Del Mar however, is one of my favorite places to dine. While the vibes are still high and the stimulus in the room still a bit much, Coa Del Mar offers a more manageable environment where you can still hear the conversation at the table, and don't feel inundated by the meat market bar crowd like at Barbecoa. The food is exceptional! With several mainstay dishes available from the Sister restaurant, and very fresh fish options unique to their own place. Highly recommended. read more

Dishes and utensils were quickly cleared for each trip to the line. Too many of the dishes were salty. The sauces that could be added to the items from the carving station were also salty. Really cool high energy spot! Came in today at 6pm and posted up at the bar. Really friendly staff. They were up beat and high energy. Bartender told me portions were large and she wasn't joking. The linguini dish was HUGE with a ton of seafood and a good portion of pasta. It was good but the sauce needed a bit more spice or seasoning so dock on star. The ceviche was good with large chunks and shrimp and avocado... Crab was just too claws so not a huge amount of crab. Overall great early dinner and would like to come back to try other dishes! read more

I wanted to come here for my bday my friend who works in the kitchen told me about the food and I wanted to come and try it. So for my 40th birthday me and a few of my girlfriends had dinner there and I gotta say that the food is so delicious. My salmon was so good and soft and so much good favor the ceviche was too all the food looked amazing and we eat with our eyes first and everything was fantastic. Our table was perfect we could see the water the service was amazing our server was great. The entire environment was amazing. read more

This place is absolutely amazing. Large restaurant with a view of an artificial lake and an in credible blown glass reef structure inside. Very knowledgeable and attentive staff. Ver good bourbon selection available at the bar. I had the crispy octopus and the calamari appetizer. The flavors were amazing. I had the lobster pot pie, which in my seventy years on this planet is the best thing I have ever ever eaten! I am glad it didn't have a bottom crust. Definitely will return. read more

I really wanted to love Coa Del Mar in Eagle, especially knowing it's owned by the same company as Barbacoa. Unfortunately, the food just didn't measure up. It was okay--nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. Compared to Barbacoa, which is consistently amazing, Coa Del Mar felt underwhelming and lacked the same level of quality and flavor. The ambiance was nice and the service was friendly, but overall I left feeling unimpressed. I'm not sure I'd go back. read more

Was a really great experience overall! The decor is beautiful and the restaurant is very clean. All staff had big smiles and very friendly. Our server was amazing! He was attentive and informative, and also had great recommendations. I had the holiday espresso martini. So delicious, so I had to order another. My favorite appetizer is calamari so I was excited to try Coa's. Best I've ever had. Such great flavor, right amount of spice, and great portion. I'm definitely coming back for that! I ordered the enchiladas, which was also great. The sauce was by far the best; so robust and full of flavor. The rice was smoky and a great side. My only complaint is for reservations, to sit small parties next to other small parties. We were a table of two on what should have been an intimate date, were sat at a large table meant for 6/8 in between two huge parties, who were both incredibly loud. read more
