Panko (Halibut) and Clam Chowder. Wonderful flavor!
    Joe C.

Food was delicious, service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere was as expected for a seafood place. Definitely gonna make a dinner run since this was lunch...

It's been a hot minute since I have dined at Fresh of the Hook. They are conveniently next to the DMV so we headed here for lunch today. It was perfect cause after lunch we just walked to the DMV. Walking in, we were instantly greeted. We were told to pick a table so we grabbed one by the cool fish tank. Menus were dropped off and drink orders were taken. I like the cool cups that our drinks were served in. We got our orders squared away so we just hung out till our food was being prepared. Our clam chowder was dropped off first. The chowder looked hearty! You can see the chunky pieces of potatoes and clams. It was fantastic! Potatoes were soft, clams were tender and chewy. My husband and I shared a cup of it but next time we will have to get our own bowls. We were fighting for the last bite. For lunch I got the shrimp cocktail. My husband snagged the shrimp and chips. Both looked so good! The shrimp cocktail was delicious! The shrimp were nicely cooked and had a good bite to them. Drizzle some fresh lemon juice with a big dip of the cocktail sauce..... chef's kiss! The cocktail sauce has a great heat to it. The horseradish made me nose burn so good! My husband's fried shrimp were crispy and savory! They came out fresh out the oil cause those babies were hot! The batter on the outside was tasty! The fries that came with the shrimp were great! They were perfectly fried and it had a seasoning coated on the outside of the fry. So good! Those are the best kind of fries. Ali took great care of us today. We were on a time crunch so Ali helped me get my bill squared away so we can just leave. She made sure our drinks were topped off and checked up on us a few times. It was nice to have great service! I'm happy we stopped in for lunch today. It was definitely worth it! I look forward to coming back soon.

My Mediterranean Halibut and seasonal veggies

Stopped in for a dinner visit while in Boise because they have a couple outdoor tables I can dine with my dog. Outstanding food and service. I had the Sesame Ahi Tuna appetizer. Perfectly cooked. For entry, the Mediterranean Halibut with a double on the seasonal veggies instead of the wild rice. Didn't get a pic of the Ahi Tuna because I ate it so fast!!! The halibut was also cooked perfectly and the Mediterranean sun-dried tomato and olive topping gave this light flavored fish character. Seasonal veggies were NOT a throw-away ... asparagus, red onion, zucchini, button mushrooms, and likely a bit of garlic and pancetta. Sautéed to perfection. My server was Mary C. Took great care of us and brought my pup a French fry from the kitchen , and ice water for her bowl. I'll probably be back before I leave BOISE. $35-40 pp with nice tip and wine

Loaded clam chowder bread bowl. I think I'd prefer the standard chowder and bread over the loaded option.

First time eating here. Across the street from the mall and walking distance from Target. Always see this place when in town so figured I should finally give it a shot. Decided to go with the coconut shrimp appetizer and the loaded clam chowder bread bowl. The shrimp was solid, pretty much what you expect from a coconut shrimp. The Clam Chowder was good but also not outstanding. I wasn't a huge fan of the "loaded" aspect which added a Parmesan melt to the bread top as well as calamari and bacon. A bit of a chowder and sourdough snob being a Bay Area native so the bread bowl itself was meh. Chowder bout 3.5/5. Friendly staff, may stop in again to try one of their non soup option.

    Fully loaded bread bowl
    Renee M.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quaintness of the restaurant. The staff was friendly. I ordered fully loaded sourdough bread bowl with clam chowder ( topped with calamari and cheese). It was presented so well. Hot ,creamy and loaded up with goodness. However, the halibut fish and chips were rather boring. The tarter sauce is loaded with dill, which was nice. But the fish and fries were the underwelling.

    Small lunch halibut and fries
    Kristen H.

Satisfied my craving for fish and chips! Picked up a Togo order on my lunch on a Tuesday and was happy with what I got! I ordered the small lunch order of halibut. It was light and crisp and not too fishy. The regular fries were better than the sweet potato. They both had a slight fishy flavor which it to be expected. Both still very yummy though. Their tartar sauce is delicious. This was the perfect lunch amount but if it was a weekend or dinner I'd want the six piece. The fish is kinda small for the price but the quality seemed worth it. I was shocked how crowded it was for a Tuesday at noon. The place was literally full. My take out order took about 40 minutes to be ready. Will be coming back next time the craving hits

I've been here for almost 2 years and the BEST Mexican food I have found was in Twin Falls. NO I do not want to go to Twin Falls to get Mexican food, especially w/ the price of gas now. I was searching online for a new restaurant to go to for lunch and for some reason "Garibaldis Garden City" popped up. First, Garibaldis, does not really sound like a Mexican restaurant, but after reading the reviews and checking out their website, I am thinking why not...can't be any worse than Andrades, Chapala or Barrigas. Went in around noon, not crowded, but again its gorgeous outside, and I like a relaxed atmosphere. We sat at the bar, our server (bartender) Michael (who is from San Diego) was great. We really didn't need any recommendations because I already had set in my head what I was going to order. We started out with the "salsa flight", 3 different salsas, 1 smokey hot sauce, 1 more chunky and a mango habanero" which all 3 were very good. I loved that there was actually some spice and heat in all 3. Okay, the Mango it grows on you, the more you eat it the better it gets. We also ordered a maggie on the rocks w/ Casa Amigos Reposado and a ranch water with the Blanco. I also ordered the Coctel Garibaldis, which is shrimp & octopus and the shrimp was nice and large and the octopus was a nice size, NEITHER was mushy, THEY BOTH tasted so fresh (enough to share). For our main, Chicken Fajitas and Carne Asada....I normally do not like the refried beans here in Boise at the Mexican restaurants we have tried, but these beans tasted like HOME, LIKE MY MOTHER IN LAW MADE THEM~! The chicken fajitas ...there was actually MORE CHICKEN than peppers which is a 1st...and it was huge slices and chunks. My Carne Asada, OMG, huge amount and it was so flavorful, I doubt I could have done any better. NOW, I am a tortilla snob and I make my own flour tortillas, but THEY HAD SERIOUSLY LITERALLY the best DAMN corn tortillas I have tasted in YEARS! They almost look like flour, but once you taste them, incredible. We (he) ordered the Coco Flan for dessert, I don't do dessert so I ordered the Casa Azul Anejo....met 2 women drinking Maggies, we agreed, if we are going to do calories, we are drinking them and not eating them...but in all, the SERVICE, Food, the atmosphere, was all worth it. Will we go again, YOU BET, I may even have to sneak over for a few lunches by myself it was that good. Again, thanks Michael, you were on Point!
