Love this place. Very reliable. My mofongo this morning is spectacular. Make sure you give this place a try and don't confuse it with the one over on broad street. Also the food here is slightly different than the Dominican food I'm used to finding at these types of places but in the best way. Had this restaurant on my bookmarks after reading some of the reviews. Drove by yesterday and figure I'll try it out. Small restaurant, seemed pretty clean and they had a good selection of fried, roasted and stewed dishes. Decent prices as well. 1 of the few places that offer desserts as well. I tried the medium portion with the yellow rice w/beans Along with the stewed pork ribs. Rice was nice and moist with the added gravy from the stewed ribs. There was a lot of bones without meat attached to the bones. There was a couple of actual pieces with meat but mostly bones. But the flavors was right on! read more

Many different options , the have $5 $7 or $10 plates ($7 is is definitely enough for two people ) food is fresh due to the line out the door. I work right near this place and you are not going to find a better deal for lunch. I always either get the roasted chicken or the stewed beef and it is always delicious. A plate of food that could easily feed two people for 6 or 7 bucks. The lady who owns this place works really hard to keep the place very clean and inviting even though I usually get takeout. It is cafeteria style, so you pick what you want. They have great sides too, like rice and pinto beans, fried yuka, and oh the pickled onions are the best. Riquisimo! The had a variety of dominican food. Rice, beans, cod stew, yellow fried platain, empanadas, fried pork, roasted pork, fried-roast-soup-chicken, pastelon, etc. My special one... this place has the most delicious mangú I ever had but you have to come early because they're gone in a blink. The service impecable, the employees are nice, the place is clean. They have a loyal clientele, dominicans, portoricans, portuguese, etc.... food that unite the people who likes to eat guud. I visited this place in late may and purchased a six Dollar plate of chicken and yellow rice that was good.

I use to work down the street from this place as a dog walker and it smellls sooooo goood everyday. So I decided to try it. Although, I am not particularly familiar with a lot the entrees the offer, I ventured to try a lot. Everything I have tried so far is delicious. They have these empanada things that are awesome, these fried cheese wedges that are bombbb and their chicken has an awesome seasoning to it. I would recommend trying it at least once. It's not bad for a buffet. You get a large portion of chow for short money. You can go for chicken, beef, pork, and a rice of your choice and if you want gravy or black beans for your rice they'll throw that in too. They also give you a free "salad" which is a couple pieces of iceberg lettuce in a styrofoam box. The first time I went, a few months back at lunch time, I had the half chicken. It was moist, well seasoned and delicious. I had the pork and beef other times and enjoyed those as well. The next two times I got the chicken though, particularly today, the chicken was BONE DRY. It was so dry that I would not have been surprised to learn it had been sitting in that hotel pan under the heat lamp since lunch time. Anybody Food Safety Certified in here? Oh well, I ate up the white rice and black beans and picked thru the chicken and it filled me up. The other issue when eating here is the staff possess marginal communication skills. I shouldn't be made to feel like a troublemaker because I can't ask questions or place my order in Spanish, but that's the feeling they give you. You pretty much have to stick your finger out and point to the food you want and shake or nod your head until they pick up the right spoon. Kinda primitive, but OK. Smile! Talk to me! I'm giving four stars for what I have tried here. The pastelitos are only a buck and are always warm and stuffed with filling. They have ham and cheese, shredded chicken, and ground beef. All are a great for a quick bite. I also have had the typical dominican breakfast offerings. Mangu, which is the best mangu I have had from a restaurant, fried cheese and salchichon. Loved it all. The only thing I didn't care for were the prepared eggs, which were a bit rubbery. They have lots more to try so I'm looking foward to stop in for lunch sometime. read more

We've only been here once. Cafeteria style Spanish (Dominican) food. We got the pernil (pulled pork), white rice and beans. The pernil needed more flavor, so I put it in a pan and added salt and pepper which made it a lot better. We've been hesitant to go back because of this experience. But seeing that they are one of the few places around us to serve this type of food, we may one day give it another chance. It also seemed like it was the end of the day for them, so I hope the food tastes better earlier in the day when it is fresh. read more

I live right next door to el edén. I'm Dominican and know my country's food. El edén is my least favorite restaurant and I will eat a Walgreens frozen dinner before I waste my money at el edén. I'm never satisfied with el edén they are always missing something. IE NO CARNE RES?????? No beans left today???? No white rice?? STOP THE MADNESS OH to top it off. THEY DONT ACCEPT DEBIT CARDS??? ITS 2017. There's no reason to not accept debit cards. It's a clear sign of BAD MANAGEMENT. If they are too cheap to pay a fee for a debit card what makes you think they throw away yesterday's food? Cafeteria style Spanish food. Usually it's very good. I have noticed some inconsistencies with the flavors of the food. One day it will be bland or perfect and next time I go in everything will be super salty. Fairly busy so make sure you have some time to wait. If you speak Spanish that's a plus and will make ordering your meal much easier. The pork and chicken are usually on the dryer side which I don't like. The meat pies are very good and are probably my favorite item. Decent amount of eat in tables. Very limited menu. Little to no parking on the street in a very busy location. read more

Prepared amazing Dominican food. The food is always fresh. I mean every time I go in there is a line. My Fiancé is Dominican and we get take out frequently. This is a good place to eat if you've been working all day, and you don't feel like making a "home cooked meal." Although the food is not horrible I have had better. The food is cheap, but they only take cash and women that cook and serve the food have serious attitude problems. Whenever I go in there to order food, they automatically assume I speak Spanish and when I don't- I get some major attitude. So I just point to what I want and smile. Me and my grandfather come here from time to time and it always hits the spot. The staff is friendly once they get to know you haha were Samoan so at first the language barrier is a little chaotic but all in all we communicate just fine. Ordered some rice and beans with chicken. Got a hefty plate for an affordable price. Parking was a little challenging, as it is on the main street. Service was very good, clean place. The WORST customer service at El Eden Restaurant on chalkstone. My food was cold, so I told the person who served me, "Excuse me this is cold" "We can microwave it for you" I said "No thank you." It should'nt have been cold in the first place. Why are you SELLING cold food? Every single thing on my plate was cold. She got the manager. She said "no refunds" and gave me the food back. So I said "you don't have to give me the money back but you're going to give me something." After about 10 minutes of back and forth, I got a hot plate. I don't care if it was $2 (which they don't have, smallest plate is $5. The food is okay. I'll give it a strong 6 out of 10) it's the principle. Never again. Dominican/Cape Verdean food. For $4 you can feed yourself. For $7 you can have lunch, dinner, and some left overs. That is...if you do not eat alot. The food is delicous. The women are friendly, & will always give you more of whatever your like. They are very generous with their food. They also have flan...which i have yet to try! Really good and authentic. I have to admit that I love Carolina on Broad street just a wee more than here, but it is closer to my house and good just the same. I usually get the pinto beans, white rice and either the half chicken, beef or pork. The meat is usually tender and flavorful. read more
