My friends and I stopped by El Corral on 66 for dinner while staying in Williams. Overall, we had a solid experience there, but I think it was a bit overpriced for the quality of the food and the experience. Personally, I was more of a fan of Obregón City Tacos, another spot in town. The service was standard and the vibes were fun - the decor was cool, with lots of Western-style decorations hanging on the walls. We did come on the later side on a weeknight, so the restaurant was pretty empty, so it was a bit hard to assess for the usual atmosphere. I don't think I'd go out of my way to come back, but our meals got the job done. read more

When to Williams for the train ride to the south rim and when out for dinner. I wanted to try some Mexican food when in Arizona. I am guessing chips and salsa is something you have to pay for here where I am used to getting it free. The decor has a Spanish vibe and it was clean. The chimichanga with the pork green salsa was awesome but the chicken was bland which the sauce made up. It was a recommendation from the waitress. I enjoyed the free soup which reminded me of chicken noodle soup with small noodles and the accompaniments of rice and beans were good. My wife had the tacos which she liked. Same sides but I think it had different chicken which was chunks instead of shredded. Overall it was good and enjoyed the meal. read more

Outstanding green chili! Super service. We stop there frequently. We will stop again next time we're are in Williams.

We were greeted right when we walked in and sat right away. That same man was our waiter. He was very nice. We ordered some drinks and then our entrees soon after that. I got the chimichanga shredded beef burrito enchilada style with the red sauce, which had the best roasted chili flavor I've ever had, and it was not spicy. It came with a small cup of soup and rice and beans. I could only finish half the plate. The building itself was rectangular and small and had booths and tables. Everything we had was so delicious and the service was very attentive. I would definitely come back to eat here next time I'm in town. read more

I was hoping I'd love this place, but overall disappointed. I had the chicken taco combo which was ok; my food wasn't very hot. My husband did enjoy his torta. My daughter didn't care for her cheese enchiladas and said her food wasn't hot and cheese wasn't melted. As someone else commented in their review, it was "edible but not enjoyable". The decor here was very much cowboy Mexican which was pretty cool. The staff was welcoming and made recommendations based on what we liked. The beef tacos were great. After waiting in line for an unbelievable amount of time, trying to get into the Fred Harvey restaurant for which we had breakfast vouchers, we decided to give up and find somewhere else. El Corral On 66, came up on a quick search of Yelp and after a phone call to them, we learned that they could accommodate our party of 9. This was the day after our epic journey, where 6 adults and 3 littles boarded a train to the North Pole to get handed a bell by Santa....and we were hungry! The walk over to El Corral on 66 from the Grand Railway Hotel is an easy one. It is a couple blocks down which explains how there was no wait here while the little cafe around the corner from the hotel was packed. This may be Williams's best kept breakfast secret. The food was outstanding. I loved my chilaquiles. And the service was great. One thing to note...chips and salsa are not complimentary. I was only too happy to pay for this, plus I didn't really need chips/salsa for breakfast, but it is atypical and I know some people may need to mentally prepare themselves;) I would absolutely come here again! #OperationPolarExpress read more

My husband and I were on our way back to Tulsa after being in LV for his work for the week. We were driving a large Ford truck and hauling a trailer. We had to stop in Williams, AZ, because of a mini snow storm made driving difficult. It is not easy navigating around in a large truck with a trailer with a few inches of snow on the ground! After figuring out where the front door was, we parked and made our way inside. Everyone was friendly and welcoming! It smelled fantastic when we walked inside and the decorations reminded me of what an old time outpost might have looked like. Lol It was cute. The service was quick, we were offered a free cup of soup. I cannot remember what the lady called it, but you are served it before the meal. Then we received our chips and salsa, and the main dish. On our last night in Williams, AZ, we changed our original plans of just eating at the hotel after a day of activity, and decided to go "downtown". Williams turned out to be such a cool little place, that we wished we would have spent 3 days there instead of the 2 that we did. For dinner, we checked Yelp reviews, identified a few candidates, then literally just drove down Main street checking things out. We decided on El Corral and knew we had made the right choice as soon as we walked in. They had a sign just inside the door announcing the evening's special....and it was taco's! I knew what I was ordering before we even sat down. My wife ordered one taco, and some chips n salsa, and I went with the hard shell beef taco special. Add a draft Modelo, and we were all set. The food was good, and our server, Nicole, did a great job. Because we happened to walk in on the right night (Wednesday), this ended up being the cheapest dinner we had our entire trip. It was disappointing not getting complimentary chips n salsa, which is a staple offering of ALL Mexican restaurants back East. But then again, we also noticed during our 9 day tour of the Grand Canyon, that nobody gives away anything for free in Nevada or Arizona. Still, the food is good enough to warrant a visit. read more

We stopped on a Sunday evening on the suggestion of one of the Route 66 shop owners. We were not disappointed. They offer a soup rather than the traditional chips and salsa (a nice change). I have had Mexican Food from Lake Placid to LA. Tonight we had absolutely the worst we've ever had. I had basic chicken fajitas and my wife had a Carne Asada Burrito. Granted we live in Tucson and have been spoiled but this was another story. The chicken was not flavored at all. Just pieces of plain chicken with a few caramelized onions. And I asked for a flour tortilla and was handed one tortilla that would have been for a burrito. Huh??? My wife's Carne Asada also had no flavor at all. The only reason we even went here is because of some great reviews. Well it was pricy ( 7 dollars if you wanted chips and salsa. Decided to try El Corral 66 out, due to the positive reviews. No chips & salsa at the table, bad start. Had to purchase chips and salsa for $6.99. Salsa was poured out a Pace Picante jar. Chips were directly out of a bag for Winco Foods. Needless to say, no impressed. Ordered the Carne Asada. The portions were good, but the steak was like boot leather, literally couldn't eat it, it was so tough. While staying in Williams, AZ, we decided between several restaurants for breakfast, choosing El Corral and so glad we did. I ordered the country fried steak and had a choice between country gravy or pork green chili gravy. I decided to go outside of my comfort zone and went with the GPC gravy. OMG! The gravy had a little heat and the flavor with bits of pork was amazing. For future diners, if you don't want the country fried steak, at least get a dish that includes the GOC gravy. I get this uninspired lackluster green sauce with no discernable heat and a bottle of some knockoff red stuff that wasn't hot either. I took my burrito to go. There are many restaurants in the cute little downtown Route 66 area of Williams, but we were craving truly great Mexican food. We asked a friendly local shop employee up the street for her recommendation, and she enthusiastically pointed us to El Corral. We are so glad she did! Our whole family loved our meal here. You know how you can always tell a great Mexican place by the quality of the chips and salsa? Their salsa was fresh, homemade and amazing. I had huevos rancheros with the green pork Chile - so flavorful and tasty. Hubs had enchiladas and loved them. Kiddo likes the classics so went with a cheese quesadilla. Last couple times we've been here the food was not good. Pretty tasteless in flavor. Last time we ordered asada nachos. Chips were gross , meat was sparse and bland. All the breakfast burritos tasted like cafeteria burritos,; even had the really thin microwaved bacon, the country fried steak was thin and, again, tasted like cafeteria food. The dog didn't seem to mind it, so that's a plus. Will not be back, unless drunk and desperate. Their potatoes were decent. ^_^ read more
