All the times I've been to Williams as a child and an adult, I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of dining at Anna's Canyon Cafe, but I finally had the opportunity a few weeks back! My husband and I came in an hour before closing to grab some lunch before our long drive home. We felt bad coming in so close to closing, particularly since no one else was dining, but within 10 minutes of sitting down the cafe filled up with about 6 other tables. Phew! Our waitress was real friendly and served us quickly without making us feel rushed. I also appreciate her bringing me a fresh iced tea in a to-go cup before we left! I very much enjoyed that during the first leg of our journey home :) They offer a very sizable menu with both breakfast and lunch items. So many things sounded good, but I was incredibly happy with my choice of the Canyon Club. My sandwich was huge and stacked with quality meat. I chose fried pickles as my side and it was a mighty generous portion. My husband had the Patty Melt with a side of fries. He usually has no problem finishing his meal, but his sandwich and fry portion was also so big he struggled to finish. He was also happy with the portion size and flavor. The inside felt like a museum with how well maintained some of the historical elements were. Booths were very comfy, even for us plus sized folks, and there were two gender neutral restrooms on site. You can enter the cafe through the main front door or down the back alley off Route 66. We usually come to Williams once per year (sometimes twice); we'll definitely be making this our go-to lunch spot! read more

After getting up at 3 am to watch the sunrise at the Grand Canyon, we were ready for breakfast when we arrived at 7:30. The three of us were seated right away in the booth by the front window in this cute little cafe that fits the vibe of the town. We ordered: - Biscuits and gravy: Delicious. More gravy than we prefer, but easy enough to work around. The hash browns were nice and crispy. Apparently you can get a half order, which is 1 biscuit (2 sides), but we didn't realize that until we got the check. - Denver omelette: A little dense but good. The toast was okay. I should have asked if I could have a biscuit instead. - Pancakes with bacon: Standard cakes but love that they serve it with warmed syrup. Bacon was cooked well. - Hot cocoa: super chocolatey and lots of whipped cream. Overall a solid meal. A group of friends and I had stopped in for breakfast two weeks ago when we were visiting the area. Ambiance: Inviting and warm space with a casual comfortable feel. Regular tables and booth seating available. They sell some various mugs, shirts, candies etc. Service: Really nice, friendly and smiley folks. Great service! Food & Drinks: Breakfast served all day! Breakfast items include various plates, omelets, sandwiches, burritos, pancakes, and south of the border items. Lunch items include sandwiches, burgers, salads, and south of the border items (enchiladas, tacos etc). Drinks include iced tea, sodas, juices, milk, tea, and various coffee drinks. I did the Breakfast Sandwich with ham, scrambled eggs, cheese, grilled sourdough and has browns on the side. Enjoyed it with some regular coffee and all was great. Food was typical. Service was awful. I hate to pull the racism card but I can't think of any other reason for the treatment we received. We were polite and respectful, but the waitresses met us with disdain from the moment we walked in. Had multiple moments where we were ordering and told items contained pork very sternly, as if we weren't able to read the menu ourselves. The staff, with the exception of one young lady with brown hair, continuously met us with a rude tone. When my little sister ordered the short stack of pancakes, our waitress very sternly told her that the short stack contained only two pancakes. "That's only two. Do you want two or three?", which is a fine question to ask on it's own but my sister is a little kid, and so she hesitated after being questioned in such an aggressive tone, and before she could answer the waitress scoffed and walked away. There were more instances, but I don't feel like writing them all out. Just know that the overall atmosphere made us all incredibly uncomfortable. We were the only non-White family in the entire establishment. My sister cried after we left. I think that was her first time experiencing mistreatment based on the color of her skin. The treatment received, had it only been one or two things, could be attributed to one-off events from a frazzled waitstaff. But putting everything together, alongside the sheer difference in how the white customers were treated left a bad taste in my mouth. I could hear the waitress who literally scoffed in my sister's face laughing and playing with a white family's child right behind me. We also had to pay an auto-gratuity of 20 percent. Makes sense why they have to make it mandatory if this is how they treat their customers. If you're roadtripping across Arizona, and you're not white, I recommend somewhere else. read more

Stopped in for breakfast this morning and left very happy. The country steak was excellent -- juicy, with a light gravy that was flavorful without being too heavy. Really nice, well-balanced taste. The service was outstanding: the staff is super friendly and attentive. They keep refilling your coffee without even having to ask. Food came out of the kitchen quickly and everything was hot and fresh. Perfect way to start the day! Cozy, homey atmosphere. We'll definitely be back. A great breakfast spot. I ate here 3 years ago; it was great then and still great. Seated and coffee served within minutes. Ordered the Spanish Omelette special with a green chili smother. The omelette was an explosion of flavor with each bite. The servers never let my coffee get below 1/2 full. The restaurant is very clean while being located within an historical building. On a recommendation as the best breakfast in Williams, I stopped into Anna's which is housed in this historic building right off Hwy 66. I ordered the corned beef hash breakfast with over-easy eggs and hash browns. Despite the corned beef hash not being scratch it was still a very good breakfast experience overall. The coffee was just okay, but the strip of bacon that I tried was perfection. The service was good, the dining room was clean, and the owner, Anna, even stopped by the table and was very friendly. The value for the meal was good as well. I'd definitely consider stopping in the next time I'm in the area and driving down Hwy 66. read more

Camping in the area, I discovered Anna's when researching where to get hot coffee at 6am- Initially their website gave me a "um what" feeling, as their menu offered seemingly such a strange randomness of Mexican, American, Oriental, and other flavor profiles, but the charm of it all grew on me, and I decided we should also eat there for the fun of it. Such a solid decision, the ample variety made it hard to choose, as their combinations sounded very unique and delectable- and everything was so reasonably priced. The staff was initially very welcoming & quick with the coffee. When we arrived, we were seated along with a few other tables of drive-thru trucker regulars- hearing their friendly banter, with the staff, gave a great local routine morning happiness ambiance. I'm very disappointed with this restaurant's policy. Our group didn't even sit at the same table, yet they still forced a 20% group tip on our both separate bills. We were separated the entire time, had different servers, and didn't receive any kind of "group" service -- but somehow still got charged like we did. When we asked about it, the staff didn't offer any explanation other than "it's policy and written on the menu." It feels unfair, misleading, and honestly disrespectful to customers. If you're going to add a mandatory tip, at least make sure the situation actually qualifies. Came to this restaurant and they had horrible customer service. The manager Stephanie is so unprofessional and is a waste of space there. We found hair in our food and she didn't want to comp or discount the meal it's like isn't that's common etiquette and common sense also my wifes food came out late while most of us were almost don't with ours she was very rude and needs to be checked. The food wasn't even that good either. I don't recommend. And on top they still charged a 28 dollar gratuity which is wild . read more

First time coming with my husband, and we had such a great experience! Our waitress was super polite, helpful, and welcoming. She kept checking in on us, and another waitress even offered coffee refills (you don't get that at Black Bear--sorry, had to throw them a little shade ). You can really tell they care about their service (and keeping us awake lol ). Whenever I find myself in Williams, AZ, I always have breakfast (or occasionally lunch) at Anna's. The food is always consistently good, wait staff friendly and their prices aren't as inflated as some of their competitors. The restaurant is in the parlor of a one time cat house and still retains some of its bawdy charm. They also have a small gift shop that sells some fun items, some Route 66 paraphernalia and some noting their questionable history. lol read more

Everyone spoke highly of this restaurant so we figured we'd give it a try for breakfast. It's awkwardly setup, coming in from the back there isn't a clear indication of where the hostess is. There was a person at the register at the back but she ignored us. Someone else walked up and asked if we'd been helped finally. Ordered fruit instead of hash browns, the only fruit that wasn't a weird tan color was a singular purple grape. It just didn't look right. Or server would disappear and not check on us. We chowed down on some western favorites. Linda had one egg over hard and a stack of thick but airy pancakes with bacon nice and crispy just the way she ordered it! Yum! I had a Western Denver omlette with diced ham, onions, green peppers, and cheese. I made a special request of sautéed onions and peppers and the chef made it just right! Gave him a tip too! Meal was complete with golden hash browns and buttered toast. The server's name was Laura, and she greeted us with a smile and western hospitality! One of the best food experiences yet on out driving adventure. We booked the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel for a couple of nights at the last minute (we would have been better off at the Best Western Plus). After checking in and settling in, we took to zig-zag route for what seemed like a mile through the corridors to get to the lounge. While there we asked the bar tender where she would go locally for breakfast - and here we are! We decided to walk downtown from the hotel, - it may be only a couple hundred yards, but we are both hobbled, but we did it. We got to Anna's around 11:00 local time, but they serve breakfast all day! Seating in a booth and coffee brought immediately! My wife ordered her usual two eggs over easy, bacon, and crispy hash browns. I ordered steak and eggs - steak medium, eggs OBB (over, broken, and bouncy - over hard), hash browns, and sour dough toast. Within a normal waiting time, all was delivered, exactly as ordered. My wife commented that at least there is someone who knows how to cook over easy they appeared perfect. My steak was just slightly more toward medium well - not there, just in that direction. But the taste,was superb. Cut easily, NO gristle at all, and very lightly spiced. Both of us were very pleased with the hash browns - real potatoes, not frozen, and cooked perfectly. My eggs were also cooked very well - NOT cooked to death, but nothing runny at all. We are in our very late 70's, and eat out frequently - we were very pleased. read more

What a great small dining location but large in great service, great food and just nice people. Special things make a high grade with us. The warm syrup for the delicious French Toast to the fillings of The Denver Omelette. Fresh salsa was obviously made in house. I had a coffee from the hotel, which I had not finished, and never a word of "outside beverages not allowed ", instead asked if I needed a refill, astounding offer.
