Amazing food! Amazing service! Lorena was a great server and I'll be back when I'm in the area again

If you're in Williams, Arizona, do yourself a favor and stop by Rod's Steak House! We had dinner there this past weekend, and everything was outstanding. A huge shoutout to Steph, our server! Her friendly personality, positive vibe, and attentive service made our dining experience even better. She was absolutely amazing! The food was incredible--the fried chicken, steak fries, and perfectly cooked New York steak were delicious. Compliments to the chef for preparing such flavorful meals and presenting every plate beautifully. And the apple crumble for dessert was the perfect ending--I couldn't resist! Made the short drive out from Flagstaff to Williams just to have steak at Rod's. Love the history. Love the atmosphere. Today (a Friday) we had the absolute best experience. Apps and drinks made for a great start (don't pass on the bone marrow). Steaks were phenomenal - prime rib, K4 ribeye, top sirloin. We even took down dessert - blueberry crumble cheesecake, crème brûle, bourbon pecan pie. But what really made it today, was the service. Leah was amazing. Super attentive. Easy going - no pressure to decide on choices. Even reminded us of the add-ons for our steaks to ensure we had it as good as it can get. Even as the place got busier and busier we never felt ignored or forgotten. She took really great care of our table and it made everything better. My biggest pet peeve, we had a reservation, restaurant empty, but placed at the only tiny two seat table in the restaurant. Service was absolutely horrible waiter seemed bothered to even take the order, and they were not even busy. Food was average at best, and the $12 piece of boxed/frozen pecan pie was inedible. Abbigaile was our server. She was very professional and timely with our drink service, taking our order, and providing regular follow-ups to ensure our satisfaction. She knew the menu and specials and was able to answer our questions quickly and confidently. She was socially engaging and attentive. Chef Tony's Prime Rib was simply outstanding. I had been here 20 years before and remembered it prompting our return. The rib was tender and exceptionally flavored. My friend had the same thing and he felt the same way. Having had Lawry's PrimeRib in Beverly Hills,CA many times, which is often the rib others hope to replicate, as well as being considered the "Gold Standard." It's Lawry's specialty. Tony's rib was better...it really was. We asked Abbigaile if we could thank him in person. Tony joined us tableside and talked with us for a few minutes. He was very dedicated and precise about his methods. Man was that a fabulous rib. Moments later another table full of customers called Tony over to compliment his rib as well. That's rare. The ambiance was western-themed, clean and orderly. Although it was a very warm evening, the fireplace was lit and inviting. Great evening...great food Great dining in a small town. Things overall were a bit slow to get our food in a timely manner but it was not her fault, busy Friday night rush. She handled our large party well and with a smile. I had just had the best meal at Rods. The restaurant has had an amazing glow with a great makeover and awesome service. We had one of those meal with apps, steaks and desserts. The cocktail sauce with the shrimp is amazing, the K-4 ribeye is second to none and the cow pie cookie dessert is perfect. I can't wait to come back. read more

We stopped here for dinner on our way back from a day trip to the Grand Canyon, and unfortunately, we would not recommend it or return. The experience started poorly at the host stand. The hostess seemed confused about where to seat us and had us walking through different areas of the restaurant, only to eventually seat us near where we had originally entered. She also spoke so quietly that it was extremely difficult to understand what she was saying. She was nice but immediately not what would be expected entering a restaurant. Service did not improve from there. Our server came to our table maybe three times during the entire meal, including once just to take our order. When we did ask for basic things, we were made to feel as though we were inconveniencing her. We both ordered the prime rib. The salads were actually good, so we were optimistic about the rest of the meal. Unfortunately, the prime rib arrived cold, heavily seasoned, and already doused in au jus. The mashed potatoes were so overwhelmed with pepper and rosemary that we sent them back. There was so much seasoning on everything that it completely overpowered the food rather than complementing it. Worse, we both experienced gastrointestinal symptoms the entire night after eating here, which made an already disappointing experience even more concerning. We chose this restaurant because of the positive reviews and recommendations, so the experience was especially surprising. Between the inattentive service, cold and excessively seasoned food, and both of us feeling ill afterward, this was easily one of the most disappointing meals of our trip. Wow! We have waited a long time to experience Rod's Steakhouse. Now that's it's open, we booked a table and boy did we enjoy the evening! We had a filet mignon and a rib eye. My rib eye filled the plate! My wife's filet was so tender you almost didn't need a knife! Both meals came with a salad (or you could order soup), fresh rolls and a side dish. We both opted for a baked potato with butter, sour cream and chopped green onions. We ended our meal with the crème brûlée desert! On top of all of this was great service from Abbigaile! We were glad we made reservations because by the time we finished, the restaurant was full! We enjoyed ourselves and hope others give this spot a try! read more

Were it not for the super staff and my biscuit I would have likely given them a 3. Our super nice hostess gave us a brief overview of the history of Rod's on the way to our table but unfortunately she discovered it had not been cleaned yet so we had to wait a couple of minutes.  Then, as I pulled my chair out I noticed a dirty napkin and bits of food on the floor under the table.  Not a big deal but first impressions are lasting.   We were seated under the AC duct up in the loft area and besides being a very cold spot to sit, it quickly made my french fries (that arrived luke warm) completely inedible.  The fried chicken was VERY good and my biscuit with honey was amazing.  My wife got salad with salmon and enjoyed it. The place was very clean and presented nice. But the food quality was blah for the price the restaurant charges. Additionally, they do not offer any substitutions which felt outrageous. Staff was nice. Restaurant is small and they sat everyone together in the same corner which was uncomfortable. We had a great Waitress, Lorena, who is very sweet also. The food came in the perfect amount of time with no delay. What a great place! We were in Williams to ride the Grand Canyon Railway on vacation when we came across this gem. I had the prime rib it was delicious with the side salad that was full of veggies. My husband had a half rack of ribs that were the best he'd ever had at a restaurant. We celebrated our mom's 90th birthday and couldn't have gotten better service from Lorena she was very attentive, in fact the whole staff was. Anyways after delicious dessert two handsome staff members helped escort my mother in law down two flights (small) of stairs into our awaiting car outside. What a great place! Reservation for 2, Thurs. 6 pm 6/11/26, we arrived early, they accommodated us (nice Hostess)! Our Server, Stephanie, did a great job; very friendly & professional! Good food (prime-rib & rib-eye; baked potatoes, & salad - all yummy), great-service, yummy mixed-drinks & delicious apple-crisp dessert! As we were early on a Thurs., not super busy so easy to talk/hear - seems it may get loud in here when busy (we were up the few stairs). We were disappointed to read/hear "Rod's Steak House" is now Corporate owned, rather than "Family Owned" as in past years. Being in small town of Williams, we'd prefer to have supported the "small business" (this is one of 8 restaurants owned by "Kennelly Concepts"). Overall a good visit! read more
