Wasn't very busy when we arrived early in the evening. But it sure looked like it is usally a happening place. Hella bar. Only one waitress but she was a real pro and no one seemed impatient with her. She took her time with us and was gracious as well as competent. Food choices are original and you will NOT go away hungry! My enchiladas were all that I ever wish for and they don't stint on the cheese! The chips are home made and we wished we could have bought a bag. The chicken mole is a HALF of a chicken! We all took food away and ate if for dinner the next night. Total value throughout. Would rate a 3.5 stars given they were open on New Years Day! We went after we rode the canyon coaster, and they were one of the only restaurants open on New Year's Day. The restaurant is huge but they didn't have enough staff that day so there were a lot of tables that needed bussing/cleaning. There were a few large parties too. We weren't starving or in a rush so we were very patient and understanding and just glad they were open. The food wasn't anything to write home about but the staff was very nice even though they seemed overwhelmed. They did apologize for the wait. We had a lovely meal. The loaded fries were delicious. We arrived to Williams AZ Christmas Day, 7pm rush hr, packed house. Seated in 10 mins. Order taken in 30 mins. Food came out in 1 hr. For a delicious warm meal- yes. For the staff doing their best- yes. Great value for a family of 5. The cleanliness of the restaurant needed tlc (again, very busy day), the overflow room had no music. P.S If you are coming to a restaurant on ANY holiday, either pack your meals and eat in your room or pack your patience. Wow! Visiting from LA where we have a lot of variety of Mexican food, but the food here hits at a different level. Might be our favorite Mexican restaurant overall, downfall is it is 7 hours away. After a long day of adventures in the Grand Canyon, I was craving Mexican food and found El Comedor Cardenas conveniently located near my hotel. The exterior is quite simple, so you might be pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food inside. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated at a high-top table. The restaurant offers outdoor patio seating and also has an additional room for large parties. Since it was Memorial Day weekend, I felt the management should have scheduled more staff. The team was clearly hustling and doing their best, but they were overwhelmed--the restaurant was packed, and there was a large party in the extra room. Management should better anticipate holiday crowds, especially given that many of the diners I saw had also been at the Grand Canyon earlier. Despite the staffing challenges, the staff remained friendly, hardworking, and very apologetic. The shrimp and chicken fajitas were phenomenal, and the restaurant was clean. I tried the spicy mango margarita, which was good, though I prefer mine with a bit less sweetness and a bit more spice--so I added a shot of Patrón. They serve complimentary chips and salsa when you sit down, which was a nice touch. The decor is simple and basic, but the food more than makes up for it. I recommend the shrimp fajitas. The shrimp and vegetables where very fresh. FYI they don't serve black beans. There's ample parking, and the restaurant is pet-friendly, which is a bonus for dog owners. I discovered a nice restaurant with a parking lot, located far from the historic downtown area, which I avoided since downtown usually only has street parking.and public parking is like blocks down . Surprisingly, when I arrived using GPS, I realized the restaurant was right next to the hotel I had booked. Looking at the menu, I immediately knew what I could eat despite being on a strict diet. When I walked in during the afternoon, the place was empty, and a kind gentleman, who also seemed to be the host, greeted me and took my order. I decided on the carnitas plate. The pork was perfectly stewed, tender, and flavorful, pairing wonderfully with the microwaveable rice I brought along on my trip. The meal was such a good experience that I returned the next day for dinner. This time, I ordered the fajita plate with shrimp and treated myself to an extra appetizer of ceviche. I also asked for flan, but since they were out, I opted for churros instead. Everything was absolutely delicious, especially for being in such a remote area. Let me start by saying the service at this place was absolutely fantastic. Large party of 17 people we were up in Williams for our family vacation and were treated horribly at a different restaurant in town, decided to come here instead and were treated extremely well. The waitresses we had were very friendly and attentive and never missed a refill of drinks( 6 kids so that's important). The food... was extremely delicious and none of the people in the party had anything negative to say at all. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stop and eat if I could give more stars I would read more

Such a great little restaurant. Was craving texmex style food and was staying in Williams so found thing place and it was great. We are staying here in Williams and wanted Mexican food. This had a high rating so we decided to go try. The service was great. I had enchiladas with red sauce and it was flavorful taking my leftovers for breakfast. My son had soft carnitas tacos and he devoured them. Dad had crispy chicken tacos and he enjoyed every last bite. Mom had chicken taco salad and it's huge and she enjoyed it as well. Ambiance is great.... We got take-out food (chile rellenos dinner and huaraches). The food was so good we decided to write a review. The rellenos were so delicious and full flavor with enough heat. I was excited to visit this restaurant after the reviews, especially after reading about the bacon wrapped shrimps. Well I can say pick another restaurant to eat. We were greeted warmly and the place was empty.. the mango margarita was so good.. then it went down quickly.. it took a good 40 + minutes for our dinner to come out.. margarita,chips and salsa long gone and no stop by if we would like around round.. our dinner comes out and it's cold and chicken not what we asked for .. as she was putting the queso on the table her nails went into the sauce. We told her the order was incorrect and she took it back. 10 minutes later our over cooked and I mean hard as a rock shrimps were delivered.. same plates as before with the cold dry beans and rice.. I was beyond blown away they would recycle and not prepared a new dish for us. We did not even try to get it corrected by now a few large parties have come it and it was getting busy for just 2 people handling the restaurant. UNFORTUNATELY, we believed the good reviews. The chicken in the fajitas was not just dry but OVERLY dry, it was horrible. The Chile relleno had 1 little piece of cheese in it, the flavor was ok. The taco seemed to be made with a pre-made taco shell (store bought) rice and beans were probably the best items of the 2 plates... for 2 with 3 beers approx $85.00.... My wife and I were not feeling like going out for food, but didn't want the usual fast food. After searching for Mexican food here in Williams, we found this place on yelp. They had good reviews and were located away from the Route66 chaos. I called and ordered our food. My wife ordered menudo and chili-relleno. I ordered the carnitas. We stopped here for a quick lunch/dinner before heading up to the Best Western. It was about 3 pm and only two other people in the place---that spooked me. However, it was some of the best Mexican we've ever had. I ordered the ala cart shredded beef tostada. It was just the right size. The crispiest fried tortilla I'd ever had was topped with a smear of refried beans, mounds of lean, savory shredded beef, a crown of crisp shredded lettuce and cheese. Pico de gallo was optional. I don't eat onions so I opted for the salsa. It was one of the best I've had. Hubby was elated to discover they offer menudo everyday. Menudo was his choice and he thoroughly enjoyed it. My family ate here for dinner during our trip to Williams. This place is big and clean inside. They had Thursday night football on, and I could see myself coming here to watch a game. Multiple tvs and a projector had the game on. The server was attentive and polite. Free chips and salsa. Our food was good. The fajitas came out sizzling. The gorditas were not too dry. We continue to search for restaurants that have nice outdoor patios :). This would be one of them. We were seated and served by Sergio- I think he's the bartender too. I had the queso fundido chicken- try the chicken and peppers alone (vs in the tortilla) as it has much better flavor. Make sure to mention you want the sour cream and guacamole. They make a VERY nice guacamole that has crunchy green peppers and just the right amount of lime juice and salt. Nice. Hubby had the pork Chile verde. He said it was well done, nice sauce and plenty of peppers. He wished it was more spicy- had a tiny bit of kick but not much. Skinny margs were good :). Enjoy the outdoors!! read more

Chicken Enchiladas lacked a favorable taste, carnitas plate had zero taste, and the price for small portion was high. Beans and rice were just ok. Absolutely amazing experience at this place. We called around an hour early to try to get some food ready for our large group of ten, and by the time we arrived they had our food hot and ready. We basically started eating as our party was coming in, and the servers were active and attentive! The food was great--we ordered costillas adobadas, carnitas platters, taco platters, and a chicken quesadilla and they were all delicious! It was a lot of food per entree as well, with our group of 10 feeling full from 7 orders (each from $15-$18). Super reasonable prices for the amount you get. There was plenty of seating and the ambiance was quiet but inviting. I don't normally leave longer reviews like this but the accommodations made for my large group really made our day. After a long day at the Grand Canyon, being able to eat such good food without any wait was very meaningful--it was also many of our group's first time having Mexican food! All in all, 5/5 would go again just because of the large amount of seating, amazing food (especially the costillas adobadas), good ambiance, and thoughtful service. read more
