This place is a staple at Seal Beach-just cross the street and you are at the pier. There is a window out to the sidewalk for beach-hoers to order and get food from. But there is also a cute dining room, too. With a little tile roof overhang, lots of ceramic veggie strings, and murals on the walls, it's actually charming. The service is also great--service with a smile. They bring chips and salsa to the table (the chips are fried full size corn tortillas). We ordered some tacos (ground beef, chicken, and shredded beef) and a red chili beef with green chilies burrito. Everything was delicious. The food comes out FAST. Like in a couple of minutes. The service was good the food was fast but honestly it wasn't that good. The carne asada was too fatty and not cooked properly should've been grilled. If you're looking for authentic mexican food I don't recommend it. Make sure you have CASH with you they don't take card. It's a tiny hole in the wall next to the pier that's been a mainstay of the area for years, but that tiny kitchen is serving up some legit Mexican dishes! This afternoon my son wanted some Taquitos and I decided on a Super Burrito figuring I would share with him. No need, the Taquitos were a good size, and it came with a pound or so of guacamole, and a massive tin of rice and beans with tons of cheese. My burrito was massive, filled with essentially everything (as a super burrito should be), and it came with about ten large tortilla chip rounds and a bunch of super tasty homemade salsa! Either dish on its own would have been enough for both of us; we were eating like Kings. :P More important than anything else though was the service, the owner was super friendly; while we were there I saw him help a family that was a few bucks short, and he seemed to know all of his regulars by name. Just a good vibe, and the kind of local business that you want to support. I stopped by this little ordering window across from the beach to pick up some Surfer Specials to eat on the sand. The service wasn't the most friendly, and nothing had prices on it but the food was ready quickly. The Surfer Special currently sits at $12 and includes 2 bean and cheese burritos, a large drink (you can even get horchata), chips and salsa. Originally I thought that was expensive compared to what the price used to be, but although the burritos aren't gigantic they're still on the larger side and you could definitely split this combo between 2 people. The food was simple and tasty, and if you're looking for a casual meal at the beach this should hit the spot. Cash only...... There is a small parking lot in the back. You also have the option of free street parking for 2 hours. I'd describe this place as a hole in the wall. You see it when you walk off the pier. They have a walk up window and indoor seating where the wait staff will take your order and serve you. The customer service is impeccable. We were seated quickly and were given fried corn tortillas and spicy salsa. Very crispy. We ordered the super burrito and split it. It comes with rice and refried beans and lettuce in it. The top is smothered with a red sauce and topped with cheese. The sauce is flavorful, but not spicy. I would order it again. It was plenty for two. You also have the option of making reservations for large parties. The bathrooms are clean and a treat not having to go to the public restrooms. I highly recommend this place and the super burrito. OK, let's start. First of all, you only take cash. I can somewhat understand that although from a restaurant standpoint, that's kind of a challenge. You do have three signs saying that, but unfortunately, only one of them is facing the entrance and they are about 12 x 12. Technically I could have seen it if I was looking for something unusual like that. The other two faced the dining room and you only see them once you've already sitting down and ordered. Just add the 2% or whatever and take cards. Secondly, you charged almost 3 dollars for sour cream for your super burrito. It would seem to me that a super burrito comes with sour cream, and guacamole. Everywhere I've eaten burritos (and I've eaten many) that's pretty standard. Then you charge $8.75 almost 9 dollars for a beer! So my burrito, at let's call it $13,00 was almost as expensive as ordering $2.75 worth of sour cream and $8.75 for a beer. That is crazy. Overall not a really great experience. While I understand you cater to tourists, I was looking for a burrito in town, specifically, and your name came up won't be going back unfortunately, until you lower beer prices, add sour cream to Super burritos, or not charge over 20% of the burrito cost, and take credit cards!! Not initially our first choice, El Burrito Jr was a past favorite of ours off of PCH in Redondo. This location is directly across from the Pier and there are plenty of spots to have a picnic. Inside dining was closed. However, an outdoor window is available to place orders along with about four outdoor tables. You've got to clean the table yourself, but hand sanitizer is placed on each table. We ordered Super Delux Burritos, which were a bit pricey at $14 each. I ordered mine w/shredded beef and I found the beef to be a bit on the dry side and a little lacking in flavor. The negative for me was the lettuce inside the burrito that was completely wilted. The salsa was good and helped bump up the flavor on this burrito. Also ordered was the Carnitas Burrito which was very much enjoyed. However, the lettuce inside the burrito was again so wilted. Bring your appetite! Portions are pretty big, well at least for me. The beef tamale and enchilada combo with rice and beans was my choice this day. It came in a tin foil plate and weighed a ton. A bag of tortilla chips accompanied. Unless you have a hearty appetite or has burned major calories from a strenuous workout or some other activity, this combo is good enough to share. It is exactly what I had a taste for. The Beef tamale was topped with chunks of beef and oh so tender. The tamale was full of flavors and tasted divine when you scoop it up with a chip - because you just needed more carbs. LOL. Seriously though, you should share this dish. Major carb overload. The enchilada was as cheesy as can be and the red sauce married well with the tamale and enchilada. Again did I mention, it would be a good idea to split this combo? And you will need to order the Horchata. It makes a perfect pairing. p.s. We took this to-go. Parked at the Seal Beach pier lot right across the street (so convenient). My review is based entirely on always ordering the surfer special. I am sure the rest of the menu is worth exploring, but really I come here when I'm craving a great bean burrito. The surfer special (you don't have to be sandy or wet to order it by the way... although it doesn't hurt to be) is two bean and cheese burritos, a few tostadas to use as chips, two salsas, and a drink. I always ask for a couple more salsas, and you can't go wrong with horchata or orange bang. I think what makes the burritos so good to me, alongside the stellar beans, is the tortilla. The tortillas are soft and chewy and have just the perfect bit of bite to them. Tortillas make or break a good burrito. These ones are perfect. Man I've been coming here for so many years, and I really think I could eat these every day. And is absolutely a great way to refuel after spending some time in the surf or in the sand.
