I was here at the buttcrack of dawn (around 5:30), right after opening and before the crowds. My "everything" bagel was just okay, not amazing, but was delivered with a smile, so that's something. But the stupid manager lady would not stop screeching in the shrillest voice imaginable about the numerous breakfast catering orders they were preparing for. The general sense I got was that she is the kind of passive aggressive manager who harangues and demeans others to make up for their own lack of organization, preparation, and leadership. I got up from my table and took the second half of my bagel "to go" because I couldn't handle any more noise and bad vibes from that harpy. I am being generous by giving them 3 stars. They always seem to run out of certain types of bagels. For example, they always run out of salt pretzel bagels. Just like all the other locations they have good bagels, but many times the employee gets your order incorrect. The most annoying issue is after you order a bagel, they don't take the bagel out of the case until they are ready for your order; here is the problem, when the person after you orders a bagel to go they grab the bagel you just ordered and many times it's the last bagel. You end up waiting 10-15 min for your order and then you are told they are out of the bagel you ordered (that you saw sitting in the case). I filed a complaint with corporate to see if they would change their procedure and maybe take the bagel out of the case so it can't be sold to someone else. It's been a week and no call back. Bagels are good but the customer service is meh. Went to pick up bagels for work and I wanted to get a variety but the girl grabbing my bagels seemed bothered because I literally was picking one of each(I work with a bunch of picky eaters).There was no line and no one was waiting behind me so I don't know what her problem was. A great little bagel place! Bagels are one of my favorite foods- that I don't indulge in often since I don't want to be too wide to walk through a doorway. Anyway, Einstein Bagels solve that problem- they turn bagels into great little breakfast sandwiches or healthy lunch sandwiches. They have healthy options with the calories listed right there so you can make informed decisions. I got an egg and spinach and mushroom breakfast bagel sandwich and it was so good! They also have a lot of beverage choices from flavored coffees and teas to sodas. Lastly, the location is lovely. You can sit outside in the patio and its really very nice. Love going here for breakfast. I always try to make it out to Einsteins when I sleep out in Pasadena and I never regret that decision. You really can't go wrong with anything you order from them, but what I thoroughly enjoy is the nova lox on an everything bagel. I scarf it down in 5 minutes! Besides the amazing taste, there prices are unbelieable. They truly serve quality food, and are super quick! They have ample parking, with the first 90 minutes being free. Best bagels in town! Jalapeno cheddar or blueberry are both flavors you have to try. They offer a good selection of spreads as well. Also, if you're a coffee drinker, it's always nice to have a Peet's Coffee right next door. Horrible service. I was ignored for about ten minutes - only two other customers in the store. Then someone finally said "hi" not "I'll take your order in a minute" three minutes later someone finally took my order and asked if it was here or to go. I love Einstein's but I was so disappointed in customer service. I've never been to this location and I'm not sure if I'll return to it - no one needs that kind of negativity. I went up to order and I asked for a turkey sausage and cheddar bagel - I asked if she could substitute cream cheese instead of cheddar. She said it'd cost $1.50 more to do that. I've never had an Einstein's employee charge me for an entirely added topping when I just want a substitution. (That being said, I wouldn't have minded someone telling me that they have to do that if they had explained it.) When I said "really?" the employee gave me no explanation and just very rudely said "yeah" I then asked if I could just get a plain bagel with cream cheese instead and I asked to make it a meal. Employee stated without even looking at me "we're out of hashbrowns," no apology or even basic polite demeanor. At this point I didn't even feel like finding a solution for something else I could add to my order since the employee did not care to suggest or say anything else. Additionally, when I got my bagel it tasted barely warm and was hard to chew. Really, really disappointed today. I've worked food industry before and know it can be exhausting but I think there should be at least a basically polite demeanor. We all work hard and are tired - no reason to make people feel more tired and bummed out just from ordering a bagel. The line was long, but luckily moved quickly and I got my order shortly after I arrived. Of course, they tell me after I've paid that I may not get the bagel thin since they didn't account for the orders in front of mine and that they were completely out of the other egg bagel that I had ordered which I ultimately subbed for the jalapeno bagel. Long story short, the jalapeno and shmear wasn't bad, but the bagel thin breakfast sandwich (egg whites and turkey sausage with salsa), just didn't seem spot on. The bagel seemed extra chewy (perhaps because they wrapped it in foil while it was still steaming hot?) and the egg whites were bland and rubbery. I've been to this location several times. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was converted to Einsteins awhile back. The bagels are soft and less traditional but make for really good sandwiches. This is not your typical boiled and baked bagel you'd expect. So I'd suggest you try using the bagels for the various breakfast and lunch sandwich options. I badly miss Noah's egg bagel and flavored schmeers. My daily Pasadena staple of too-many-carbs-to-burn-off during the day. I'm all too familiar with Einstein's, having worked a few years in downtown Chicago. The bagels are definitely a bit chewier in consistency than that of Noah's and less crisp on the outside. But one big omission is their lack of having an egg bagel flavor. I hope this changes one day. My upbringing as an honorary Jew will not allow me to abandon this staple.
