This place had been on my list for a long time and I'm glad I finally stopped by. I ordered the Lox Open bagel and it was really good. Fresh ingredients, classic flavors, no complaints. Coffee was good too, although I wouldn't mind a bigger cup. The biggest surprise was how fast they were. Seriously, everything moved really quickly and that's a huge plus in the morning. A couple things to know before you go: seating is outside only, so you might not find a table during busy hours. There's also no restroom or place to wash your hands. So this was a stop on our LA Bakery walk and it's such a pretty building. The owner was super nice and told us the reason he opened up this place and how his bagels are made. We got a sample of the sesame bagel with wasabi cream cheese and persian cucumbers with salmon. It was very delightful! Bagel was chewy and doughy and it was by far my favorite. Amidst flourishing bagel places in town, not sure how we haven't heard of Maury's until very recently. I was pleased by the fact that this place has decent crowd yet I didn't need to queue for an hour just to get my hands on my bagel LOL (you know what I mean). Their servers were all super passionate and cheerful as well, just making us feel well treated. They had plenty of bagel choices from the usual plain, sesame, everything, jalapeno cheddar, up to more interesting one like za'atar. We got The Mori, serving very peculiar wasabi tobiko roe cream cheese with smoked salmon, feeling like enjoying luscious sushi mix on a bagel! We also tried their vegan cashew spread on everything bagel just out of curiosity. Somehow tasted more like greek yogurt to me, which I might fancy if mixed with other toppings rather than on its own. Anytime I go visit my friend in Silver Lake for a morning walk, this is the place he always wants to go to pick up a quick breakfast. Kiley and I decided to spend the morning walking around the Silver Lake neighborhood in Los Angeles since they has a farmers market going on. We were yearning for some bagels and cream cheese and Maury's was the place. We both for the Everything Bagel with regular cream cheese. They were very generous with the cream cheese almost too much but I personally would rather have too much than the opposite. They had cute tables outside to eat at and we got lucky and got one. Ambiance is chill though this couples dog kept barking up at everyone walking by. What I thought would be pastrami though turned out to be smoked salmon which I assume was prepared like pastrami. Hence the name. Left me with a craving for an actual pastrami bagel. But disappointed tbh. Fresh juice was good and they have sustainable ware. This is a very small bagel shop located in a beautiful brick building in Silver Lake. There is lots of free street parking but watch those parking signs to be on the safe side. You order inside and then get your order outside at a window. There are a few tables on the outdoor patio but no indoor seating. You can order fresh bagels or get a bagel sandwich. The 1/2 and 1/2 is, in my opinion, the best option because you can try two different types of sandwiches, although they will be open-faced (and you only get to select one type of bagel). I went with 1/2 and 1/2 and selected the bagel lox sandwich which comes with red onions and capers, and the smoked trout which comes with pickled red onion, cream cheese, and cucumbers. The presentation of both bagels was amazing. For my bagel, I went with the Za'atar but, unfortunately, I couldn't really appreciate the flavor of the bagel itself given all the different sandwich ingredients. I liked the lox bagel the best because I am a sucker for lox, all day, any day, although the smoked trout was very nice, if you like smoked fish. I was also able to try the egg salad bagel which also comes with red onion and it was outrageously good. The egg salad was very mild but still had a wonderful flavor. We also tried the rugelach (they offer 4 for $4) and they were good but they were the smallest rugelach I have ever seen. The cinnamon one was better than the chocolate one. For the price, it's hard for me to recommend these. No line whatsoever on the weekend. If you don't feel like waiting an hour or more in the hot sun at Courage Bagels, maybe give these guys a try. There's no designated parking for this place so you'll need to find street parking. We were lucky enough to find one spot in the neighborhood behind it. The person taking our order was very nice and quick. We also got our order no more than 10 minutes from ordering. Something specific about this place is that they don't recommend toasting their bagels. I typically have them toasted but wanted to eat according to their recommendation. I enjoyed it without toasting. I got the bagel and lox sandwich with an everything bagel and closed. My husband got a plain bagel with butter. My sandwich was good but pretty similar to what I've had at other places. It was still very tasty. The plain bagel surprised me because I still enjoyed it just with butter. Showed up here because I just witnessed a vendor moan in ecstasy as she took a bite out of their crunchy bagel at a local farmers market this morning. What was even more impressive was that I got my bagel order and hot coffee in just 4 minutes after I ordered! Talk about efficiency! It's starting to rain now so I decided to eat in the car and watch how the bagel machine is able to be so efficient. Very impressed with the quality of bagel and the pastrami lox!
