We're tired of hotel breakfast so we checked Yelp for a recommendation. This restaurant popped up as choice number 1 and we completely understand why! As with most places, Covid has impacted their staffing so we had a short wait, but it was worthwhile. We were greeted by Stacey who was delighted that we were first time visitors. We were pleasantly surprised to receive 2 pancakes courtesy of Eggspectation. They were delicious!! I had the Avocado Toast Benedict which was a delightful combination of 2 off my favorite breakfasts. My son had the Western omelet. He kept commenting on how good it was and he even ate all his potatoes ( he's not a huge potato fan)! He also has the freshly squeezed juice which he said was delicious. They also serve lunch and dinner there, which we found helpful to know since the name of the restaurant makes it seem like it's only for breakfast. My bf is a super big fan of their crab benedict, which is really good. I ordered the lobster benedict, which was also really delicious. They make great potatoes, too! We ordered the lemon, blueberry ricotta pancakes to share, mainly because I can never pick between savory and sweet foods. They were also so, so good. Eggsellent you place your eat nice decor and food was good was great. It was business but, great server. The decor was really nice and really stood out. I really liked the book shelf that went around the seating. This place is so cute and it's a perfect place for brunch. The Eggspectation bagel breakfast sandwich was nice and tasty, the bagel was a little hard though. The potatoes were different. The all American skillet was good just didn't want the gravy on it. I've always heard of Eggspectation because we have them in Maryland. Always heard they were really good so when I saw one was coming to Delaware I was excited. Location and parking is nice. Shares parking with a Buffalo Wild Wings next door. Outside the appearance is very clean & they also have patio (wasn't open at the time of my visit) Walking in, the decor was light, and bright. Clean lines and very country chic? I was greeted and acknowledged immediately by the hostess and bartender(s)--I decided to sit at the bar since I was alone. Their menu is extensive and has a lot of great options to choose from--took me a while to figure out what I wanted. I ended up ordering a Strawberry Mimosa ($8) and the UnEggspected (steak and eggs) ($18.99) Mimosa was made to perfection just enough strawberry to not over power the mimosa. Oh let me not talk about my entree...ok maybe I will! Eggs scrambled with cheese and steak seasoned and cooked to PERFECTION! Although this was my first visit it certainly WILL NOT be my last. There are enough varieties of avocado toast and variations on Eggs Benedict to excite every Gen-Z trendmonger on the eastern seaboard. And while you're spending like a trust fund lunatic don't forget the double digit health smoothies and a few pitchers of mimosas if you're just counting on a mellow buzz before the apocalypse. Personally, I found the place way too cute, way over the top and affected way beyond imagination. I'm a purist so breakfast to me has very well defined corridors making their thicket of revenue enhancement add-ons a big eye roller. Was in the neighborhood and this place caught my eye! So glad that we decided to go in. It was later in the day so we didn't have to deal with the crazy of the breakfast/brunch crew. The hostess sat us down almost immediately. The waitress greeted us and asked us of we had ever been there before. Customer service was off to the best start. Waitress made suggestions based on what we were craving. Everything on the menu sounded great. I ordered the breakfast poutine. Did not disappoint. My husband ordered the pizza and it was good especially considering that this is primarily a breakfast/brunch place! Our waitress was so in tune with our needs it was amazing she set the bar high for future visits. We got the Gooey Goose Bread as a dessert to go because we were so full! From the beginning this was a superior experience. We were a party of 8 arriving from 4 different cities to meet at a central spot and this came up on our search. So until today we were unfamiliar with the operation. We were greeted and seated professionally by Levar and Bea. Menus and a neatly arranged table awaited us. By pretty much any standard the menu is a standout. Creative, with a broad array of brunch offerings that spurs interest and excites appetite. Too much to highlight now; if interested check the website. The service was solid and professional. Rose is a dynamite lady with patience, a sense of humor and a killer smile. She kept us coffeed and watered and feeling very much attended. She went about her duties with a sense of mission, but her positive engagement with us never faltered. I witnessed constant attention to cleanliness in real time, the floor swept consistently but not intrusively, the adjacent tables cleared, reset so that the dining areas were welcoming. Levar was kind enough to offer to photograph our little group, and I took notice that there were a number of other families likewise inclined. I feel that this restaurant is ably led and that the staff shows pride in their individual and collective contributions. More importantly I observed numerous examples of teamwork and that is very telling - and never happens by accident. Just effective management of processes and people. I believe Levar was the manager on duty at the time and kudos to him. The restaurant business is demanding and the audience fickle. He's a leader. I define value as the relationship between the totality of the experience and the $$$ paid for same. Eggspectations menu might at first appear pricey. However, the food is well prepared, the orders delivered accurately (pretty good considering the complexity of the menu) and the quality is undeniable. For example accompanying the french toast was a full bottle of 100% pure maple syrup. Free range eggs, fine side breakfast meats, this kind of attention and detail is unusual in a restaurant of this sort. I happily am willing to pay the freight for these differentiating factors, among others. This location earns my strongest recommendation. read more

OMG! Where do I start. The food was delicious. We decided to stop here on the way back home from Philadelphia and I was not disappointed. Our waiter, Dillon (or Dylan) was great, very attentive and friendly. My mom ordered the shrimp tacos, she said they were good, flavorful and had a little kick to them. I ordered the lobster Mac and Cheese and whew! I was so delicious. All the cheeses were melted and blended perfectly, the pasta was nice and tenderly done, the bread they gave on the side was crispy and had the oil mix on it. Everything was very well executed. We started with 2 grand marnier mimosas..excellent (perf combo not too much juice). We ordered the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes...excellent! My boyfriend ordered the steak (cooked medium)and eggs and it was a bit dry (which is subpar for $18). Finally we shared the shrimp and grits. We made reservations for 6 outside Bc this was our first time at a restaurant since the pandemic. As we arrived , there was a miscommunication and our table was given away. The staff quickly rectified the situation Bc our older family members did not feel comfortable inside . We waited a few extra minutes but it was worth the wait! Service was excellent and food came out perfect. Presentation of each entree was colorful and fresh. Even the iced coffee was delicious! Absolutely not. I wouldn't go back here just based on the service alone. I tried to call and make a reservation but no one picked up the phone and their reservation button on their website doesn't work. When we arrived, we were told 30-45 minute wait, and were 18th on the waitlist, we said fine. The issue is, they had several open tables, 14 I at least counted. If you're short staffed, you need to explain that to people, prior to making them stand in your restaurant for an hour. When we came up to an hour, the hostess told us 20 minutes more, which is literally absurd. The hostess stated there were people before us that had reservations, like okay well when those people don't show up, you need to move to the next party. The whole concept of a restaurant is to get people in seats, fed, and the table flipped. You can't have bad service, especially if you're charging $17 for two eggs that doesn't come with toast. Big yikes. Would never go back here. read more

We started with a smoked salmon crostini. I make my own. And this one was pretty good. A bunch of us ordered the frittata. It tasted good. Would have like to have seen it a bit fluffier. Came here from out of town on a Sunday and I wouldn't come back. We decided to sit at the bar since the table wait was about 30 mins. When we sat at the bar we were the only 2 on the entire side and it took the two bartenders about 15 minutes to even acknowledge us or give us menus. We had to ask for water 4 times before ever getting any like 25 mins later.. It should take 20 seconds to turn around and pour a cup of water when we're already sitting at the bar. We waited for our food for over an hour and when it finally arrived it all tasted very disappointing. My bf got the salmon eggs benny and they gave him a hard boiled egg..? I got the french toast and it was burnt. The couple sitting next to us was also sick of waiting almost 2 hours and were about to leave without ever getting their food. The bartenders were slow and rude and unapologetic knowing the wait time was unacceptable. The vibe of the place is nice tho so I hope it isn't like this every day. Server was very friendly, food was quite good (the S'mores French Toast was a huge hit, and prices very reasonable. The place is nice very good atmosphere and the food looked good on the menu, until we got our plates. As far as mine for the price the omelette could have been larger, and my wife's plate the chicken was BURNT! My scores..... Made an online reservation through yelp for 9:45am today over a week ago. When we arrived at the restaurant they told me they didn't have any reservations for me and then looked up my phone number and said it was for 12:45pm even though I had a screenshot of the reservation for 9:45am. They also had signs saying they were doing reservations only today on the doors and were turning people away who didn't have one. Eventually the hostess "found" us a table even though hardly any of the tables were full and plenty of staff was standing around. The food was mediocre. I asked for cheddar cheese on my eggs and it was very obvious it was american singles as it looked like plastic. My friend's chicken and waffles was super over cooked and dry/burnt. Likely won't be back but wanted to share the major issue with their reservation system and it not working appropriately through yelp. Someone needs to fix that. This was our first time here after driving past many times. I have to say that I read the menu and was intrigued by the unique and different fare. We finally went there today and it was a joy, being seated at a table is great but it was a long wait an hour to an hour and a half so we decided to sit at the bar which was an excellent choice. Sitting at the bar is the best way to go in my view one side of the bar is open to the outdoor patio it was a beautiful day nice and breezy so many people were enjoying themselves so I love the ambiance but on top of that the food was absolutely fabulous I had the lemon blueberry pancakes which were excellent my husband had that corned beef hash dish, and we topped it off with the grand mimosa and guilt-free green which is a wonderful slushy green offering from the juice bar we will definitely go back again it's unique and every sense. read more
