Good morning everyone, Let me start by saying I've lived in this area since 2015, and I'm honestly upset I didn't discover this place sooner. I'm not that old, but the nostalgia this restaurant brings back reminds me of waking up with my family and my father taking us out for a great breakfast. The staff here are simply amazing. It's easy to see why people keep coming back. The restaurant has been in operation since 1975, and that alone tells you they're doing something right. Back to the staff--these ladies and gentlemen treat you like you've been a regular since day one. Today, I'm seated in a small booth by the entrance, and as someone who enjoys people-watching, I've been paying attention to how they interact with customers. They truly have a gift for conversation. The small, personal exchanges they have with each guest show a real attention to detail. For some customers, they know personal details--asking about family members and sharing genuine concern. For others just passing through, they take the time to learn where they're from, how long they're staying, and wish them well on their visit. They work seamlessly as a team. Everyone steps in to support one another, and no one misses a beat. It's a well-oiled machine, and their experience clearly shows. I'm not sure how long some of them have been here, but larger companies could definitely learn a thing or two from this level of teamwork and service. They are attentive, friendly, and professional. Lastly, the food--absolutely outstanding. Everything tastes fresh, and I've tried several different meals without a single disappointment. And the coffee? Excellent. That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it. Absolutely amazing place! Food was incredibly delicious, I love the setting of the restaurant, it gave the most wonderfully homey feel. This place was a treat. Well reviewed on Yelp. We were staying in suburbs but need to grab breakfast in Wilmington before catching a train. Great family diner ambience. We were there on a Sunday morning and a lot of the people were regulars who knew one another and some were coming before or after church. I love diners and this place had nice ambience. There was no counter or stools or kitchen griddle where you could watch them cook but it checked most other boxes. The surprise was a fried catfish and eggs breakfast entree which I had but all three meals were excellent. Service was good and friendly and even though packed, the service was reasonable and quick. Clean bathroom and a great place to listen to the locals and get the news. Delightful. Also has a full bar. #bonus! read more

My husband and I went this morning. My first time there. It was pretty crowded for a Monday morning. Our server, Lynn, was lovely, happy and helpful. Absolutely, charming place stuck right in the middle of east and westbound route 4 in Stanton. Passed the place a million times over the years but this morning, I was hungry, and the packed parking lot intrigued me. I'm glad I did. Everything looked great. Not just the pork chop and egg special with a side of grilled cornbread I had, but also everything I saw pass by me on the way to other tables. The pork chop was grilled and seasoned well. My entree was huge, and even with the side of cornbread and coffee, my bill was still only a little bit over 11 bucks.... This place is definitely worth trying read more

We eat breakfast here every Thursday morning at 6:00 am. The fact that they open at six is a huge plus for working people. Our server, Shelly, is the absolute best! Kind, attentive, and efficient, she is exactly who you want to be serving you breakfast when it is still dark outside. Portions are big, eggs are always perfect, prices are the best in town. They have specials on the board as you enter, which are always worth a try. Not generally "health food", but they have egg white omelets with veggies and spinach for us old guys watching our cholesterol. Between the friendly warm atmosphere, my friends who eat with me, the delicious hot breakfast, and of course, Shelly, this has become one of my favorite hours of the week. read more

Mary's Kountry Kitchen is a secret gem in Delaware and I wish more people knew about it, but also then I'd never get in! The staff is so friendly, the food is soooo good and the portions are large in the best way. Honestly they should be charging more for the amount of food, but the fact they have their prices set like that allows all sorts of people to come in enjoy a wonderful meal with their loved ones is so priceless. Gosh, I forgot to take photos of our meal, does it even count? Darn good ole' fashion breakfast. Got the Kountry Kitchen, eggs, pancakes, bacon and cheesey grits. The grits were on point! Pancakes were fluffy and hot! My co diner had the sausage gravy biscuits with home fries. Next time he said maybe Tots would be the good to potato. Both had coffee. It was a fulfilling breakfast. Came for breakfast with family that were visiting from out of town. There were customers but it wasn't a packed place. The waitress was an older woman who was completely miserable! One of us weren't ready to place our order yet and she snapped I'm skipping you who's next? She was in such a hurry that we felt like we had seconds to make up our minds or else. The eggs and potatoes were great and also liked the sausage links. Would have given more stars but the service was lacking. Words cannot begin to explain how much I love this spot. My family always ends up doing brunch here on birthdays, or any holiday we can make an excuse out of. The food is phenomenal, and the price is also very good. Service is always so friendly, we truly love these kind folks. Always cracking jokes, being kind, and extremely helpful. This place is a perfect space for large groups. Not the best if you're by yourself, but the servers will make up for your lack of company. Mary's Kountry Kitchen is the epitome of "homey" as far as breakfast spots are concerned. As a local watering hole, this place is pretty small, but the ambience exactly matches the name - quaint, comfortable, and not unlike a country dining room in your own grandma's home. Exactly the type of breakfast spot I picture in a Nicholas Sparks book. The breakfast fare is pretty standard, but the prices and portion sizes are what set Mary's apart. Wait staff are friendly, the coffee is always flowing, and the whole experience feels mildly like eating breakfast with extended family. Nothing's better on a cold morning than popping into Mary's for a hearty stack of pancakes or bowl of oatmeal, some coffee, and conversation with friends and family. read more

As a native Delawarean, Mary's is hands-down my favorite spot for breakfast in the state. My family and I have made it a fairly regular Sunday brunch spot and have taken to celebrating Mothers and Fathers Days together there as well. The food is excellent and the helpings are generous. The menu is pretty extensive for a smaller, family-run place -- pancakes, waffles, omelets, oatmeal, fruit -- and there are generally specials, which you can find listed on the chalkboard when you walk in and as menu inserts. If you're really hungry, I highly recommend the Traditional Country Breakfast - it'll hit the spot and you can order your meats and eggs the way you want them. My favorite, however, is the Eggs Benedict (traditional yummy hollandaise sauce with a generous side of home fries), closely followed by the Farmer's Benedict (instead of hollandaise, your eggs and biscuit are covered with a gravy sauce that is so good you could drink it). Even the kids' portions are generous, so if you have a light eater, you could probably get away with just sharing your meal. My daughter usually insists on having her own pancakes, though, because she wants them all to herself. For drinks, this place has the second-best Bloody Mary I have had in the U.S. (See New Orleans' Ruby Slipper Cafe for the #1 Bloody Mary ever!) I order one every single time I've been to the restaurant and have never been disappointed. They do a decent Mimosa, too, if you're looking for something lighter. The staff is friendly, patient, and happy to help, even when you have a big table of demanding family members. They have served our family of 8-10 vegans, vegetarians, carnivores, gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, and low-sodium dietary requirements without batting an eye. There's no modern farmhouse decor here -- it has an at-home, old school, country cafe vibe -- but don't let that deter you from a great meal. Things get busy on the weekends -- and though the meal is worth the wait, I recommend at least a call-ahead if you have a large party. Best time I've found is around 12:30 pm on Sundays -- right after the breakfast crowd has left. read more

So pissed off and wish I could get my 8.25 back on my card. Got a catfish sandwich that literally was just fish and bread. No nothing on it. And I wasn't ask if idlike anything on it so I assumed it came with at least lettuce and tomatoes maybe a lil may. But I only got 2 packs of ketchup and salt and pepper. Lesson learned I will never ever go back there again. Had my order under Davis when I said Davis clearly on the phone. From the moment we walked into Mary's Kountry Kitchen, it felt like we were walking into a family members home. It didn't take long for us to notice many of the regular customers that visit daily and how close they are to the waitstaff. Our waitress treated us like a regular as she was so welcoming and friendly. As far as the food, my bf ordered a western omelet with grits and I ordered a turkey club. Both of us enjoyed our meals and the portions were a good size for the price. If we are back in the area, we would certainly return! read more
