Had lunch at Metro after 2 hrs of Pickleball at Dill Dinkers. I had the salmon plate. The salmon was cooked perfect with a nice carmelized crispy surface. A nice savory sauce over the salmon. The potatoes were great with nice bits of bacon and seasoning. The broccoli was tender (not over cooked) and had a nice buttery flavor. We just moved to the area and tried a few breakfast places, but this one blew them all out of the water. Service was very quick and I was in disbelief about how good the food was. The fries were crispy. The onion rings cooked to perfect perfection. The chicken tenders were falling apart on me. The rib ribs slid off the bone. The hash browns were better than you've ever made at home and by God that over easy egg has never been cooked better. The avocado toast looked even better than the picture folks. Top it off with a slamming peach cobbler with great prices all around. Hats off to the chef. Hat off to the owner. Hats off to the crew. Well we said we would return. And here we are. The chicken and waffles were flavorful with that grandma's seasoning type vibe. I got my shrimp and grits again. Awesome diner. Stopped thru on the way back to the DMV. Service was amazing. Our server, Sarafina, didn't miss a beat. Coffee stayed refreshed, condiments were readily available. Looking around, all the servers were providing the same level of attentiveness throughout. It was so pleasing to see what also appears to be a younger staff team taking such pride in providing the ultimate customer service experience. You don't find it so common anymore! Food was just as amazing as the service. The perfect portion and reasonably priced. The ambiance has a sense of nostalgia associated with old school diners. Diverse clientele. And plenty of AC. Friendly staff and the food comes out really fast. Prices are average for what you're getting. Any time I eat at this location I feel extremely sick after (I do not have this issue with other Metro Diners). The place can get quite crowded-so probably don't come with a big group. read more

Patty was our server and it was so busy on a holiday and graduation weekend but she never missed a beat. The food was delicious and we can't wait to go back and also try the other two locations. I don't typically leave reviews, but I had such a positive experience at the metro diner on 2023-07-16 I felt it needed to be documented. First, the food was excellent. I ordered the BBQ BACON Burger to be cooked "medium." Typically, I don't care to order burgers at restaurants because I think they get over cooked. The burger was cooked so well, I added a picture. Maybe a little too pink for "medium" but it was perfect to me. I think the portion sizes are fair for the price. Our server was a young person named BB and it was their second day on the job. A little shy but very attentive and considerate. For me, the ambiance was amazing. It's a chain diner with not too many locations and it had a lot of charm. Typical diner vibe, but they were playing pop music that I'd expect to be heard at the club. The contrast created a unique environment that I loved. After a failed attempt year prior, I decided to give this place another try and I will not be returning. The food was okay but nothing special and no major complaints. Toward the end of the meal I noticed green mold in my soda glass. I had gotten about halfway through the soda before I noticed it. We checked everyone else's drinks and they seemed to be fine. I was the only one who ordered a Dr Pepper so it was probably a dirty soda fountain. We brought it to the attention of the server who didn't seem to care. She didn't apologize or offer a new drink, rather just looked at it and said "oh." It isn't hard to keep a soda fountain clean and the nozzles should be disassembled at least once a month. read more

Metro Diner is a chain and we went to the one in Newark, DE - the FIRST Metro Diner in DE. Today, their flavored coffee was hazelnut and their flavored iced tea was mint - both delicious flavors! If the staff offers their side of hot & sweet syrup - take them up on it!
