Its a warm rustic vibe. Inddor and outdoor seating available. Our server was super bubbly and attentive. Wanted decaf coffee, she brewed new pot to ensure it was good. Our breakfasts very very generous portions, and very good. My bacon wss overcooked, but i didn't say anything. I got the combo..egg, bacon & belgian waffle. If it's blood donation time, it's time to fuel up here. This time I tried something off their summer menu, shrimp and grits. I should have paid more attention to the list of ingredients. Really, shrimp and grits needs to be more simple than this. The andouie sausage was cut too fine, pizza topping style. Onion has no business in a dish of shrimp and grits. Same friendly service and clean environment that you've come to expect. My blueberry pancake was a little overdone on the bottom. read more

I came visiting the University of Delaware for a college tour with my family, only to receive moldy bread, after already having eaten a slice. I came with my family, as it was the only open place with gluten free options at the early hour of 7 AM. I was excited to give it a try, however everything went south from there. We ordered the gluten free toast, some ham, and a few other dishes. The server was a kind lady, but the service cannot make up for being served moldy bread. It isn't like the mold was a small spot. It was a big dot in the CENTER of the bread. Luckily, the server removed the charge for the moldy bread. I now got a stomach ache from this bread, so only eat once you've examined your food carefully. This is my last time at First Watch. read more

This place has a contemporary chill feel. I dined alone and that worked out well because I avoided the monstrous wait. Pro tip: eat outside or plan go with a 30-45 minute wait in mind. Also, the server advised me that Sunday mornings have the longest waits. Kale Tonic: light, refreshing, and fresh! I juice Kale so know first hand how it should taste. I recommend this! The Traditional Breakfast: two eggs (any style) a choice of meat (bacon, smoked ham, chicken sausage patties, turkey or pork sausage links), and toast. I chose sunny-side up with chicken sausage, and told them to hold the toast. All was well. The potatoes were seasoned well. The eggs were perfect. The chicken sausage patty was cooked well. Atmosphere: the ambiance is casual with a business about it. Unfortunately, I was able to choose my order table outside but it was dirty (i.e. not wiped down). The server handled that quickly and got me my drink and food quickly. Overall, the place is average and I didn't feel like it was a place I would wait to eat at. The prices were moderate and the food was prepared in a non-threatening environmentally-conscious way; e.g. "cage-free eggs". Went to this location Saturday 11/23/24. The standards keep dropping. I requested Eggs Benedict, it arrived cold with the yolks soft instead of runny. Server Britney was only at our table to take our food request, bring our meals and give us the check. Not once did she check to see if everything was okay. I work in the service industry as well, and although obviously being in "the weeds", Kaat gave us exemplary service...all while helping out at the register! The one thing that was mostly appreciated was that she acknowledged our wait time, was apologetic because of how long things took, and had an amazing smile while doing it. Okay I've been here a few other times now and the food/service has been better! Seems like the earlier you get to the place the less crowded and better food is served. Great presentation of the lunch special selections I made today I was here few months back and had ordered pecan pancakes which were yummy . Clean individual restrooms for both.. This First Watch never disappoints! My family and I frequent this location for brunch! I typically always opt for the seasonal hash, and I've never had one that I didn't enjoy. I also always add one pancake on the side...be careful, because the pancakes are huge!! My favorite is the carrot cake pancake. I will start off by saying that we frequent this location. The last several times we have been there the service and the food were terrible. We chalked it up to some new staff. This morning we walked in and right away could count eight or more dirty tables, and the restaurant was not busy at all. When we were sad, we were sat at a table that still had two coffee cups half filled with coffee. An employee came over and asked us if we wanted to be seated elsewhere and we said yes because the table was not being cleaned. I will include a photo of what we had to look at while we eat. Our syrup bottle was dirty, the sugar container was gross, and the coffee carafe left a lot to be desired. I had asked for crispy bacon when our food arrived (it was brought to us by someone other than our server), the bacon was definitely not crispy, but I did not have a chance to mention it to this employee as they just gave us our food and walked away. Our server came over and saw that we needed a refill so I then asked him if I could get the bacon made a little more crispy, but he ignored me and walked away. When he finally came back with the refill, I asked him again if I could get the bacon crispy. He told me "sure just give me a minute". We then watched him go to another table and take an order and was there for a good five minutes. He came over with a takeout container to put the bacon in and took it away. We never saw our server again until he brought us the check. Someone else brought the new bacon out and at that point I was already done my meal because I wasn't gonna let my meal get cold while I waited for this bacon. And again it wasn't crispy. It was just greasy and chewy. At this point, we just wanted to leave. We were told that there is a new manager who really doesn't care about anything and gives the staff no guidance. The manager was seen walking throughout the restaurant multiple times while we were there and obviously he doesn't care because he did nothing about all the dirty tables. We left with at least seven of them still dirty. Needless to say we will not ever frequent this location again, which is very sad because it was one of our favorites. There is another one near us that we will try. But this location really needs to do better. It's normally packed on the weekends and there was nobody in there this morning. My third time here and it was even better than before, and what I also noticed there's new locations. If you want some good hearty, delicious, freshly made breakfast or brunch this is the place to be. I try something new every time. This time I had barcado omelette with a side of the million dollar bacon which is to die for, and a multigrain pancake so delicious. The barcado omelette consist of avocado, pepper Jack cheese, bacon and topped with sour cream and pico on the side. Just delicious with a purple haze drink or mimosas to wash it down makes the day complete. Service here is great. It's always busy so you might have to wait alil while but I'm glad to see that they have neighboring locations open now and more to come. Love coming here read more

My husband and I ate here before the Covid-19 restrictions when we were in the area traveling though. We have been to one in the past in another state and liked it, so we gave this location a shot. Once we entered, there was no host to greet us to take us to a table. The restaurant was not super busy, so it was a bit of a surprise there was no one at the hostess booth. After we sat, we did have to flag a waitress down to get menus instead of being given them as we sat. The food overall was really delicious. One of the items you should get here is the million dollar bacon, they chain is known for it. It's a think cut bacon that is dipped in a sweet glaze and cooked to perfection. I do like that the menu does offer healthier options if you are trying to watch what you eat. read more

Of all the New Castle brunch spots, this is quickly becoming my favorite. Super cute interior, with lots of space for large groups to spread out and booths everyone can comfortably fit in. A friendly and helpful staff, reasonable wait times and an easy system for joining the waitlist for a table. But the real winner, of course, is the food. After waiting more than an hour and a half (AN HOUR AND A HALF) to be seated at Turning Point in Christiana, we checked to see how much longer we might have to wait. They told us at least another 45 minutes (which was the original wait time they gave us for a table for four). I guess brunch takes two hours for some people to eat, but we just couldn't wait any more and had them take our names off the waitlist. We called Eggspectation to check on the wait there - the rude employee who answered said she didn't know how long the wait would be (really??) and that they didn't take reservations by phone or online. Then she hung up on me. So when the friendly First Watch hostess answered the phone, confirmed that we can join the waitlist online or via phone, and that the wait would be 15-20 minutes, I was pretty excited. Their estimated wait time was accurate, and in 15 minutes we had a large booth to ourselves and an incredible menu to browse. We all ordered coffee, and I had fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and million dollar bacon to get started. And man, does that bacon live up to its name. I don't know what kind of vanilla-y syrupy goodness they drizzled over four perfectly cooked, crispy pieces of bacon, but I could've been happy with just that for my meal. Instead, I tried the avocado toast next. Usually avo-toast bread is a throw-away little slice of something semi-soggy because of all the guacamole on top. NOT the case here. The bread was every bit as delicious as the well-seasoned avocado - and it was thick enough to stand up to its toppings. Came with an egg, cooked however you like, and could work as a nice brunch all on its own. The last menu item I tried was the chickichanga- incredibly seasoned shredded chicken, onions, and peppers wrapped in an egg "tortilla" and served with an incredibly generous potion of home fries. It was heavenly. Our waitress was helpful and funny and warned us about the portion sizes when we obviously over ordered, but we had waited so long to eat that we really couldn't help ourselves. And we were all too happy to take our leftovers home to enjoy another meal later. Next time, I think we'll skip the long Turning Point line and the rude experience at Eggspectation and just come here for a delicious, enjoyable brunch. read more

O what a perfect meal! My husband and I stopped here to grab breakfast before getting on the road to go home after a weekend mini getaway and it was a great decision! Although there was a 1/2 hour wait, we were seated 5 minutes early and our food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Our table person (Tamira) was awesome! She was attentive and right on w all requests. We ordered the Tri-Fecta Breakfast Platter, Fresh Seasoned Potatoes, Hardwood Smoked Bacon and Italian Wedding Soup. Total happiness! We had to say something & somehow our food came out right away, but freezing cold. I got 2 eggs over medium; hard, one was broken/no yolk. Potatoes were hard, barely cooked. After opening a few years ago, I finally had a chance to try out First Watch and the Million Dollar Bacon! We came early in the morning, a family of four (two kids, two adults), on my wife's birthday. It wasn't too crowded as we arrived just shortly after they opened. My sons ordered from the kid's menu. There are a few options: bacon & egg, half waffle, chocolate chip pancake, etc. I ordered the Farmhouse Hash and my wife ordered an omelet. Of course, we ordered a plate of the MDB. The MDB is a thick cut bacon with maple syrup amply drizzled on it. My kids didn't really take to it, but it was delicious for my adult taste buds. Every was very tasty, well prepared, and the ingredients were fresh and locally sourced. The one disappointment was the fresh-squeezed orange juice. I was expecting a little better. It just didn't seem to be a step up from store bought OJ. read more
