It's been over a year since I was last in the area. I was hungry for a solid diner breakfast and…read moreheaded straight here. Walked in and it felt like I was just here yesterday. The massive dessert case greeted me, brimming with colorful delicious-looking pastries, cakes, and pies. I was seated promptly and handed menus which included their specials of the day; everything from lasagna to moussaka to stuffed peppers to barbecue ribs. My waitress, Dee, came over to ask for my drink and went away with my order. She appeared again quickly with my coffee, which was hot, and honestly - better than the standard cup of coffee in most places. Mmmm As I waited for my order I couldn't help but notice how happy their patrons are. It's 1:30pm on a weekday so I see a lot of people who look like retirees, along with a smattering younger diners and some folks in work uniforms. A couple was leaving and stopped to have a friendly conversation with one of the people who worked there. It's obvious they've known each other for a while, regulars. A table over starting singing "Happy Birthday" to their friend. The 70's and 80's songs were enjoyable without curbing conversation. My food came out faster than expected and was piping hot. Toast options are white, wheat, or rye. I requested it dry as I don't want it slathered with margarine or something unidentifiable. It came dry but they included two mini containers of real butter with it. Heaven! Dee came over and checked on me in a bit, offered me more coffee. More yum. Mmmm. Total cost for a Florentine omelette (spinach and feta cheese), a whole lot of home fried potatoes, two slices of toasted bread with real butter and jelly, coffee, and a comfortable friendly atmosphere: $14.45. I couldn't finish it and took about 1/3 of the plate home for later. I have no idea why they're not between 4-5 stars for a diner. Food is solid, coffee is fresh and hot, service is quick and friendly. I think they're worth every penny.

Strike 1: I would've liked to give this diner four stars, but a few things were off-putting. When…read morethe host seated us at a booth, the cash tip from the party that came before us was still on the table. So when our server came to our table she noticed it, stretched over us and grabbed it, grumbling to herself. I guess she was annoyed that it was still there but the least she could've done is say excuse me, or pardon me. It was awkward and kind of rude. Strike 2: What was I thinking, daring to ask the server a question about something on the menu. Her attitude and answer made it clear that she couldn't be bothered to answer. Redeeming quality 1: The food was pretty good. I had a buffalo chicken wrap with sweet potato fries and a side of blue cheese dip which was decent. The fries seemed hand-cut which is a plus. My son had a cheesesteak sandwich he enjoyed and my husband had a California burger (I think) that he really liked. Quality 2: The cake and dessert selection goes pretty deep! Thinking of returning one day just for dessert. I would say it is worth the visit after all.

Our server was excellent. The food was delicious! My friend had the mushroom burger and I had the banana walnut pancake , potatoes, ,turkey sausages, and eggs. Urban Kitchen can be described best as a diner for the 21st century offering a variety of tempting options. I went for the Friday classics of fish and chips that included a truly amazing cream of crab soup! The crab soup was oh so good and yes I found some shell but that was fine because this was real crab!! The delivery of my dinner made my. mouth water ... onon rings over French fries with perfectly beer battered cod that proved to me that the folks in the kitchen know what they're doing (flaky and moist cod yum). My dining partner had a cheeseburger, which in my opinion was ho hum compared to my dinner but she said it was really good. Oh, the coleslaw was top notch too. My only complaint... it was so filling I couldn't eat all those perfect French fries so they became part of the next day's breakfast! Was truly a great Friday dinner!!

I'm a sucker for a unique donut shop and this was such a good stop. (We were visiting Philadelphia…read moreand had our son with us who had not been to Delaware yet and wanted to get him into the state). The restaurant was not what I was expecting. I thought it was a little donut shop, but it was actually a full restaurant/bar. The restaurant didn't really seem to be open yet, but the donuts at back were fresh and coming out for the morning. There were so many options it was very hard to choose what to get. These donuts were special, in that they are brioche and very large and fluffy. We got an apple pie and strawberry cheesecake donut. We definitely didn't need two, but "when in Delaware" I guess? Haha! The woman at the counter was really helpful in our difficult decision and was very friendly and patient with us while we drooled over the donut menu haha!

We immediately felt like we were an inconvenience. After we were seated, the waitress brought out our drinks. 1 1/2 hours later, she comes back with the promise our food would be out soon, then, one minute, then oh yeah they are plating the food. Then we spotted our waitress and a few other servers vaping as the kitchen door opened. The manager was checked out as we were speaking with him. Needless to say the service was awful, so we left. As I said promising, but their staff and customer service is a complete turn off. Eat well folks! Ps. My daughter did a Yelp review right after we left but somehow it's been removed...

I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience really didn't sit right with me…read more My mom and I recently visited this restaurant, and unfortunately the customer service was very disappointing. Our waiter was inattentive and overall didn't provide a good experience. Despite that, my mom still chose to leave a respectful and honest review, simply expressing her concerns in hopes that things would improve. What's even more upsetting is that when she returned to give the restaurant another chance, she was told by staff that they could not serve her because of the review she left. Mind you, this is someone who has supported this business for years. It's disheartening to see a loyal customer be turned away for providing honest feedback. Reviews are meant to help businesses grow, not punish customers for speaking up. I really hope management takes a step back and reevaluates how they handle feedback and treat long-time customers.
