I went in on a Tuesday and ordered a brisket sandwich. The sandwich came without the onions that the menu said came on top. When I asked for some, I was told they were out. Came to Uncle John's BBQ stand for a late lunch. I usually check out the menu before I visit but decided to just wait until I arrived. I was greeted as soon as I arrived. I ordered the brisket tostada, mac and cheese and a strawberry agua Fresca drink. The food came out pretty quickly. The tostadas were piled high with the brisket. They were served with a sour cream and two other sauces. I enjoyed the tostadas, I kind of wish I asked for a barbecue sauce. The Mac and cheses was tasty but tasted more of a like noodles with béchamel sauce. If I was in the area again I would certainly come back to try other menu items. I went there thinking it was a soul food bbq place, but it had more Mexican dishes on the menu. I thought I would order the shedded bbq pork platter, but I saw it had a chicken and dumpling entree. It was listed under soups, but I thought that was a mistake because chicken and dumplings can be creamy and runny. The woman at the counter had to check to see if they had chicken and dumplings that night. When she said they did, I ordered it. I also ordered the lemonade. The chicken and dumplings was a soup with fat, not flat dumplings, and more carrots and celery than chicken or dumplings. I got some roasted corn to eat with the chicken and dumplings. The corn was plentiful and delicious! The lemonade was also delicious with plenty of real lemon slices in it and just the right sweetness. It was served in a very large cup with a top and a straw. The cup was almost full and I got a good three glasses out of it. Except for the chicken and dumplings not being the creamy mixture with flat dumplings I was looking forward to, the meal was well cooked and very tasty. I was sorry that I forgot to ask about desserts! The place was small but had a nice decorated set of rooms with nice tables and a good selection of seasonal packets. My family and I rolled up here on a Friday night. When we pulled up there I was a fun band playing music. We were like this is the place to be! We all got a variety of items from ribs to bbq sandwiches. For my little family we got the the pulled pork, the pulled chicken and the pork belly burnt ends. I also go Mac n cheese and tots for sides. Each of the meat comes with a side of cole slaw which was actually nice (generally I don't like Cole slaw). The pulled chicken and pork had great seasoning but were a bit dry. We needed more bbq sauce to kind of wet the meat. Mac and cheese was okay. Tots are always good. The star of the show was the pork belly burnt ends. Omg these were very good and crispy. The sauce that smothered them was great! There was some confusion of how the dining area worked (do we throw it away ourselves, getting utensils etc.) other than that we had a good time. I love the atmosphere of this place. Yes real cute. It has outdoor seating and inside. A decent size menu. I was down the street for a funeral. My uncle John's funeral. I am from Virginia. I thought it was fitting to try this place out. I tried the buffalo wrap, cornbread, and my dad got the pulled pork, and my kiddo ordered the grilled cheese. The girl who took our order was a real sweet heart. Everything was so good. Great quality. Crinkle fries...I LOVE crinkle fries. It's something I rarely ever see. They hit the spot. Everything was on point. Super delicious, and a good amount. I also had two brownies. Lawrd it was so good. I go to New York and visit Delaware often... I have been wanting to try this place for a long while. It did not disappoint. I got Cheesey Mac & Cheese, Brisket Empanadas and a Salmon Cheesesteak. I know, salmon at a BBQ place. I thought it would balance the empanadas. The live music and free beer was a special surprise bonus. I am not a big Salmon fan. It was a tiny bit fishy but the cole slaw helped hide that. Walking in- This place didn't have the nicest atmosphere I had ever seen, and there was dirt on the table we sat on. There was a really good duo playing music there, shout out to our friends Courtney Clarke and Victor Kozar who we saw playing there. Service- Our food came out lightning fast, especially considering the ratio of workers to customers. Meal- The ultimate grilled cheese was excellent, the bacon was perfect with the cheese and the bread was crispy and well cooked. The mac n cheese was the best I'd ever had, and mac n cheese is my favorite food. The breadcrumbs and the creamy cheese made for a delicious bite. The baked beans were a tad sweet and just how baked beans should be prepared. This was my first time trying onion rings and they did not disappoint. They were crispy and not too onion-y. The brussel sprouts were okay, I like mine deep fried and these were sautéed, but they were good. The pulled pork was really good with barbecue sauce, they complimented each other very well. This place has some of the best food I have ever tasted, and while it might not be the neatest, I would gladly recommend Uncle John's Barbecue Stand to anyone in the area. read more

The sauces were delicious--they had sweet bbq, hot bbq, and mixed sweet & hot bbq. We got their smoked brisket sandwich and the Porkzilla sandwich (I believe that's pulled pork with smoked sausage) and for us, the meat was a little on the dry side. That's why I'm giving four stars. These folks were very nice and I liked the atmosphere as well. They had a very good pork belly burnt end dish, which is definitely a keeper. However, I'm going to have to go there on a weekend to get them when I suspect the brisket is coming off the smoker. I got the pulled brisket sandwich, and it was drier than I like. That can happen if you shred the brisket though. A sliced brisket sandwich can preserve the juiciness. I also tasted the pulled chicken. I would also like to have more smokey flavor on the meat. Stopped by for a bite to eat. Location is in an old gas station that has been renovated to be an amazing dining spot. Ordered the salmon cheesesteak and pulled chicken. Both exceeded expectations and we were especially impressed how delicious the salmon cheesesteak was because we were - truthfully- a little hesitant to order it. French fries and coleslaw that came with both were delicious and we had a side of onion rings which were perfect . Didn't try any of the desserts, but all looked homemade, and another customer was telling us that they were delicious as well. This is not your ordinary barbecue spot !!!!! Inside of the restaurant is filled with art, plants, books, and a bunch of love. You can tell the owner put the same love they have for their food truck into this space as well. I got the Italian sausage sandwich with peppers and onions and it was very spicy, which is cool if you're into that kind of thing. The coleslaw was banging and free! My boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich and all it needed was an extra side of sauce. They also have a Maine Root soda machine which was different but delicious. It's a cute restaurant in an old gas station. I ride by often and had never noticed it before. I was checking out eateries near me that I hadn't been to before and found Uncle John's BBQ Stand. I checked the menu and saw a few things that sounded good so I took a quick trip over to get some takeout. The pulled brisket was so melt in your mouth tender. By itself it had good flavor then add the sweet bbq sauce and viola even more delicious! The onion rings were nice and crispy and very tasty; a quick dunk in the bbq sauce and I asked myself why hadn't just dunked them all. The tater tots were also very crunchy but could have used a bit more salt. The service was fantastic. Greeted as soon as I entered the dining area (6 or 8 tables) and quickly had my order taken. The staff I encountered was extremely nice. I would definitely go back so I can try some of the other menu items. read more

Moved up the street not long ago and we come in often. Food is always amazing! Definitely try the bbq bowl or shrimp fajita salad they offer on taco Tuesdays, they are my favorites!
