Me and my wife, the 2 of us, ate our meal for $26. We had a great time here, on a busy Thursday morning. We had been asked for our orders about 7 minutes after getting seated. Everyone on their team was in A+ mode. We enjoyed the service, meals and the price. No automatic gratuity was forced on us and I think we all gave great tips to the team. Somehow we got right in but I see big lines outside sometimes. I guess I have to compare to my favorite place, the breakfast cottage. In comparison, not even close. Breakfast cottage is way better.

I couldn't decide on a side, so naturally I had both: the pineapple coleslaw (pretty much the only coleslaw I'll eat!) and the chips. And my Lime in the Coconut margarita was delicious. But Nokomo's is about more than the food. I missed the whole vibe - happy, fun, relaxing, and absolutely breathtaking. That waterfront sunset key view is one of a kind and pretty tough to beat. The staff was friendly and attentive as usual, and I also noticed they paved the parking lot! Such a nice improvement and much easier to walk across. While I was taking updated menu pictures, I noticed my old menu photos on Yelp - For the most part, the menu has stayed pretty consistent. What really surprised me was that most prices have only gone up about $3 over the past two years. The lobster tacos are the exception - they've gone up about $8. I've heard they basically break even on them, and all I can say is THANK YOU for keeping them on the menu because they are my favorite! While sitting at the bar, I also saw some oysters go by that looked amazing. They were from Louisiana. And then there was a cheesesteak that was stuffed so generously it looked big enough for two people! I can't wait to try some of those next time. If you haven't been to Nokomo's Sunset Hut, you don't know what you're missing. Come treat yourself to delicious food, a cold drink, live music and those beautiful, laid-back Southwest Florida vibes. And do yourself a favor - go before season gets into full swing, while you can still get in without an hour-long wait! I'm already looking forward to going back for the grouper tacos, along with some of my other favorites - the Aloha Salmon, Caribbean Salmon, Salmon Caesar, or really anything salmon. GET A PARKING SPOT in the gravel lot so my wife could hobble in with her bone on bone knee (getting 'fixed any day now) Service was awesome, hostess fantastic, our server was conversational and fantastic, and the beverages/drinks (the draw for my wife) were generous and tasty as usual. I am a little disappointed at the sides serving "cup" (black beans, yellow rice, and edamame) while the online menus does not post prices they are a little bit more expensive now this year and looking at my pictures from the past a little more diminutive? I do see I substituted and they made up a BEAN taco for me one time so maybe I will switch back to that creation.

my husband and I went to this place for the first time last week and wanted to try it out, I ordered my eggs over easy and they came out hard and cold. My husband ordered a omelet and grit, the omelet came out brown and to well done, and the grits had no flavor and were very runny. We also waited for a second cup of coffee and didn't even get attention or offered another cup until our breakfast was done. A prime rib special worth remembering -- just not for the reason you think…read more I had breakfast here a couple of weeks ago, and the waitress told me I had to come back on Saturday for the prime rib special. She said it was so good and so popular that it sold out early, and encouraged me to get there early. So I did. I arrived about an hour and a half after opening, expecting this supposedly legendary Saturday special. The restaurant was maybe one-third full. My husband ordered a hamburger, which was thoroughly average. I ordered the prime rib. Unfortunately, the prime rib was anything but special. It was brown, and when I cut into it, the first two bites were so fatty that I couldn't eat them. I hadn't eaten anything else on the plate either. I simply told the waitress that I really wasn't going to eat it and asked her to take it back. And then came the truly memorable part. The chef/owner came storming over to our table and yelled at me, essentially demanding to know what was wrong with the prime rib and telling me that everybody was eating it and that it was good. Apparently, my taste buds were the problem. I wasn't rude. I wasn't looking for a free meal. I didn't make a scene. I simply didn't like the food and wasn't going to eat it. Somehow, that warranted being confronted and yelled at by the person running the restaurant. The waitress looked embarrassed by the entire exchange. I felt embarrassed for the restaurant. We paid our bill, and I still tipped the waitress on the full amount because her behavior wasn't the problem. And here's the irony: of the relatively small number of people in the restaurant, only a handful were actually eating the prime rib. So much for the "get here early because it sells out" warning. Maybe their prime rib is wonderful to some people. Food is subjective. But being yelled at by an owner because you politely returned a meal you couldn't eat is not subjective. That's simply bad customer service. A restaurant can have an off night with the food. What it shouldn't have is an owner who makes a paying customer feel unwelcome for having an opinion about it. I came back because I was told this was a Saturday special I shouldn't miss. They were right about one thing: I won't miss it again.
